WBC super-lightweight world champion has weighed in with his prediction for a potential super fight between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Terence Crawford.
Despite the fact Crawford would have to jump from welterweight to super middleweight for a shot at the Mexican, there are some observers who believe he could do the unthinkable and emerge victorious.
Prograis, however, is not one of them.
In a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, ‘Rougarou’ admitted that he sees a fight against Alvarez being a bridge too far for the undisputed 147lbs champion, stating “they make weight classes for a reason.”
Some in the sport had been pushing a narrative that Alvarez is a fighter on the decline, however this talk has cooled somewhat after his dominant display against Jermell Charlo last month, as referenced by Prograis.
Crawford also has more pressing issues at hand after Errol Spence Jr triggered a contractual rematch clause, and the pair are expected to lock horns again in the first three months of 2024.
A weight class for a second fight has not been agreed as of yet, but a bout at super welterweight may help ‘Bud’ acclimatise and get a little closer to Canelo.
