How about Wilder vs Usyk(can that fight happen)?” Deontay Wilder: “Usyk don’t want it. I tried many times. We were supposed to fight like 3 times. The world don’t know this, but the business of boxing does. I understand why guys don’t want to risk fighting me because I have the… Mostrar más

Tyson holds the World Boxing Council (WBC) title but he is also challenging the ‘Gipsy King’, taking advantage of the doubts he left after his fight against Francis Ngannou, who, out of nowhere was about to take away his unbeaten record.

In an exhibition fight held in Riyadh, Ngannou introduced himself in professional boxing with a solid exhibition that pushed the world champion to the limit and was defined with a controversial split decision in favor of the English champion.

This fight was already organized with a contract between Usyk and Fury to face each other in 2024, after it was originally scheduled for December 23 of this year, but the punishment that Fury received against the Cameroonian, caused the fight to be postponed. However, Usyk has already stated that he believes the long-awaited fight will happen once the bell rings.

Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury

But he also raised the level of the challenge, noting that he expects Fury to take the fight seriously, as he said he underestimated Ngannou: I think Fury underestimated Francis Ngannou, but it will be different with me. I think he’ll draw some conclusions after their last meeting. But again, I don’t care at all how he will behave, what matters to me is how I will behave.

He added: “Ngannou did a good job and showed a good level in the ring. Very few people believed in Ngannou. Even when I was asked about him, I answered that it wasn’t good enough.

Undisputed champion in two different divisions?

Usyk wants this fight against Fury because he aspires to become the undisputed champion in two different divisions. He was the undisputed cruiserweight champion and moved up to heavyweight in 2019, becoming the unified champion in 2021 after winning a unanimous decision over Britain’s Anthony Joshua.

However, Fury is a big challenge for Usyk because there is a big difference in weight and reach in favor of the Brit:

Fury is big, complicated, strong, I’m a little bit smaller, but I have incredible motivation and I’m hungry for boxing. I’m not motivated by money, I don’t care about material things, I care about my path. I worked for this for 20 years. And I think in February we will hear the bell,” said Usyk.
