‘Kinda f*ed up’ – Brian McIntyre reacts to Terence Crawford losing undisputed status by being stripped of IBF world title

Terence Crawford’s trainer Brain McIntyre is not pleased with how his fighter has been treated by the IBF.

Earlier this year, Crawford beat Errol Spence Jr by ninth round knockout to win the undisputed welterweight world titles.

After this fight, the IBF ordered Crawford to face his mandatory challenger, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.

Crawford’s team informed the IBF that this would not be possible as they are tied into a rematch clause with Spence.

As such, the IBF stripped Crawford of his title and upgraded Ennis from ‘interim’ champion to full world champion.

And this is not the first time Crawford has dealt with this situation, as he was stripped of his IBF world title just days after becoming undisputed super lightweight champion in 2017 for the same reason

“It’s kinda biased how they treat Terence, kinda f***ed up and s***,” McIntyre said in an interview with Fight Hype.

“But, we accomplished what we needed to accomplish, we got that undisputed title.

“At 147lbs he’s been supreme, they can’t take that away from him.

“They can take everything else, but they can’t take that – that’s history being made.”

As for a potential future fight with newly crowned IBF welterweight champion Ennis, who Floyd Mayweather has previously described as a ‘problem’ and a ‘helluva fighter’, McIntyre said: “He don’t bring nothing to the table.

“Terence is at the stage now where he can pick and choose.

“If he doesn’t wanna fight Boots because he doesn’t bring anything to the table, I’m gonna ride with it.”
