John Fury has expressed a belief Tyson Fury does want to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world – despite the Gypsy King saying he’s ‘not interested’.

John Fury has expressed a belief Tyson Fury does want to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world – despite the Gypsy King saying he’s ‘not interested’.

The 35-year-old is currently preparing for his upcoming fight with Oleksandr Usyk, which is due to take place on February 17.

Fury recently said he was ‘not interested in undisputed’ and also compared it to climbing Mount Everest on regular occasions.

The 35-year-old also feels he’s got little left to prove as he enters the twilight years of his glittering career.

He said earlier this month: “I’m not interested in all of that stuff.

“I don’t care about unifying the division and all of that stuff. I’ve already done it.

“I did it when I beat [Wladimir] Klitschko, I won all the belts.

“It’s not that exciting when you’ve already done it.

“It’s like saying, ‘oh my god you’re going to climb up Mount Everest, you’ve done it 16 times before but you’re going to do it again.'”

Yet Fury’s father, John, has told the Daily Mail that he thinks his son is fibbing.

“Doesn’t care about undisputed? Well if he doesn’t care about undisputed, why is he fighting then? For the money?” he said.

“That’s not Tyson. He will care, and if he doesn’t good luck to Usyk.

“If he doesn’t care, if he comes in with that attitude, he’s not bothered, then it’s good luck to Usyk.

“I am one of them… if he gets beat I’ll say he gets beat.

“But once Tyson’s head is on, Usyk’s not the man to do it.”

John recently said he’d noticed a decline in his son.

Fury was poor during his recent victory over Francis Ngannou, with that fight taking place at the end of October.

The Gypsy King was floored in round three of the bout, though did end up winning via split decision.

And John has claimed he’s in the dark over Fury’s plans for the fight with Usyk, with the Briton likely to change his tactics.

“People think I know what’s going on in the training camps, but I don’t,” he added.

“I don’t have anything to do with it. I should do – but they don’t listen to daddy.

“I know what you’ve got to do for this one. You’ve got to go down a different road completely.

“Tyson will have the eye of the tiger back for this one, he’ll need to change everything round.

“He’ll need to do everything different and gain some solid muscle and put some work in – crack his balls working and when he does that, Usyk’s going to have a problem.
