WBC President Hits Out At IBF For Terence Crawford Decision: “How Can You Do This?”

The WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman does not agree with the IBF’s decision to strip Terence Crawford of its welterweight world title.

Pound-for-pound great and multi-weight world title holder Crawford is still riding high off of his dominant win over Errol Spence Jr earlier in the year.

That impressive ninth-round stoppage made him the first undisputed welterweight champion since 2006 and the first man to have held undisputed honours in two weight divisions in the four-belt era.

However, Crawford has been stripped of his IBF title for being unable to fight Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis because he has a contracted rematch with Spence to take care of first.

As such, Ennis has been elevated from interim to full champion, much to the chagrin of many fans.

Speaking to DAZN Boxing, Sulaiman is one of those left baffled by the speed of the move given the Omaha native only fought in July.

He was asked if the governing bodies should let fighters take care of their rematches

As of writing, there’s no date or weight specified for the second fight.
