Deontay Wilder leaks purse for Anthony Joshua heavyweight mega-fight

Deontay Wilder hinted he will earn a staggering $50million for fighting Anthony Joshua if he beats Joseph Parker.

Wilder looks to set up a mega-fight against ‘AJ’ when he fights Parker at the ‘Day of Reckoning’ event in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, which is headlined by Joshua’s fight against Otto Wallin. ‘The Bronze Bomber’ hasn’t fought since knocking out Robert Helenius over a year ago, as Joshua’s most recent win also came against the same opponent.

“I knock AJ out, I deliver what I was supposed to deliver years ago. I deliver what they ran from. I deliver what he asked for $50million for, I’m going to give him a $50million knockout,” Wilder told Queensbury Promotions. Bookies have Wilder as a bigger favourite against Parker than Joshua in his bout against Wallin and the American has warned fans to “not blink” during his comeback fight.

“This is Deontay Wilder, when I am fighting I leave people on the edge of their seats. They don’t know what’s going to happen but when it does happen, it’s goodnight. That’s the excitement I bring to the heavyweight division. If it’s any given fight that you are going to see a knockout, Deontay Wilder is going to make that happen,” he said.

“Every punch I throw it’s that moment of ‘There it is, there it goes’. That’s the excitement of it and I thank god that I’m blessed with the ability to give people that. I have people saying ‘I missed the knockout!’ That’s why I tell people go to the bathroom, concessions stand, go to the kitchen. When I get in the ring from the first to the last round don’t blink, because you can always miss something.”

Wilder has only fought once since being brutally knocked out twice by Tyson Fury in their epic trilogy. The former heavyweight champion considered hanging up his gloves after losing to Fury as he said: “I was close to retiring. I just started enjoying my family a little bit more.

“I have eight children. I was able to be more involved, more active in their lives. “It was very enjoyable to see my youngest children grow and take them on certain trips, like camping, going on certain adventures with them, and seeing their interests in life and what they think about certain things.”
