“Ryan Is Doing Crazy Numbers”: Canelo Alvarez and Gervonta Davis (Now Abdul Wahid) Roped In as Floyd Mayweather Shares His Two Cents on Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney

Oscar De La Hoya won’t like this one! Ryan Garcia was recently spotted hanging out with Floyd Mayweather when ‘Money’ chimed in on a potential ‘King Ry’ vs. Devin Haney. Since ‘The Dream’ Haney defeated Regis Prograis last year, the possibility of a fight with Garcia has taken over the internet. Haney even addressed a tweet from Garcia where he claimed to have sent an offer to Haney’s team.

So, while appearing in an interview with Inside Fighting today, Floyd Mayweather details his thoughts on the potential fight. What’s more, Floyd dragged Canelo Alvarez and Gervonta Davis (aka Abdul Wahid) into the conversation. So, all that is left is – what Floyd said about the potential fight.

Floyd Mayweather claims belts and a few million dollars don’t make a star

‘Money’ and Garcia were out cruising through Las Vegas when Andrew Capucetti from Inside Fighting caught up to the duo. Capucetti pressed Mayweather, enquiring about his thoughts on a potential Garcia vs. Haney fight. ‘Money’ quickly responded, “It’s up to Ryan. Ryan [is] do[ing] crazy numbers. So, it’s up to him. Everything is up in the air, so whoever you want to fight.”

Capucetti proceeded to ask Mayweather who the most watched fighters were after him. That’s when Floyd roped in ‘Cinnamon’ and ‘Tank,’ claiming, “I mean [there are] some heavy hitters in the game right now…in boxing it’s only three…Canelo, Ryan, and Jervonta Tank Davis.” Later in the interview, Mayweather decided to comment on the mentality some boxers have today.

“In today’s time, fighters think they [have] belts, and they made a few million dollars, they are stars. That [doesn’t] make you a star. Being an allrounder all around the board makes you a star. Learn how to articulate. Know when to speak and when not to speak…everything plays a major role in making you a household name,” said ‘Money.” While nothing is set in stone, a recent X conversation between Haney and Garcia suggests a big money fight is around the corner.

Ryan Garcia: I’m sorry, Rollies

After the Victorville native defeated Oscar Duarte last year, ‘King Ry’ called out Rolly Romero for a fight. However, Romero’s corner moved slower than a Turtle, so Garcia made – recently crowned 140 champion Devin Haney, his new target. In a tweet from 29 December, Garcia wrote, “I’m sorry, Rollies – you and your team work way too slowly, and you were way too indecisive…Devin Haney and I are in negotiations – respect that. I’m not entertaining anything.”

Making the potential fight even more real, ‘The Dream’ Haney responded to the tweet saying, “See you soon, pal.” In another tweet from the same day, “This has been a long time coming, and you know that,” wrote Garcia. With the recent development and approval from Floyd Mayweather, the fight seems all but confirmed.

2023 was a big year for boxing, having featured some of the biggest fights in a while. However, if the Ryan vs. Haney fight becomes a reality, people can expect it to break numerous records, dare I say, even the Garcia vs. Davis fight record. However, what do you think – will the fight happen?
