Now, he is on the lookout for his next fight after arranging one with Peter Dobson. Only days are left for fans to see the two throw punches at each other. Jaron Ennis might be the next attractive choice for Benn.
Once holding the undisputed welterweight championship, Terence Crawford, widely recognized as the top pound-for-pound boxer globally, lost his IBF title after he refused to fight ‘Boots’. Subsequently, Ennis was promoted from interim titleholder to the IBF welterweight champion. This is not to say that Ennis is lacking in any manner. Benn himself acknowledges this.
Conor Benn is aware of his limitations
In an interview with FightHype.com, Benn expressed his willingness to fight Ennis. The initial hurdle for Benn involves decisively defeating the formidable Dobson, paving the way for Benn to shift his focus towards renowned opponents. The 27-year-old has made bagging a world title his mission. “I’ve been calling the name and I know you’ve seen me call the name so for me, it’s like Jaron no problem. People saying he’s the boogeyman that everyone’s scared of, you know no one’s scared. No one’s scared here anyway.” said Benn.
Benn is not one of those who are afraid to put themselves out there to take on the bigger challenges. He is also aware of the disadvantage he possesses due to the lack of an amateur career as strong as Ennis but that does not faze him. “So, for me, he’s a great fighter, talented, extremely gifted. You can’t knock that. But for someone who’s had so much amateur experience and someone who hasn’t, I still feel ready for that fight. The pro-game is a different game.” he added. Before anything, Benn is focused on his current fight as is apparent with the verbal jabs the two have been throwing at each other.
Benn makes fun of Dobson’s shoes
Earlier this week, a dramatic face-off unfolded between Conor Benn and Dobson against the backdrop of the iconic Las Vegas sign, overseen by promoter Eddie Hearn. The confrontation escalated into a heated exchange of insults as both fighters engaged in verbal sparring. Benn, visibly agitated, taunted Dobson, accusing him of fear-induced trembling. In a confrontational outburst, Benn urged Dobson to cease shaking, employing explicit language to express his frustration.
He went on to assert that acting on his impulses at that moment would result in his arrest, potentially jeopardizing the scheduled fight. In response, Dobson, undeterred, clarified that his shaking was a manifestation of his eagerness to engage in the upcoming bout, vehemently expressing his desire to fight.
