Gervonta Davis Says He Needs Just Three Weeks To Beat Brit

Gervonta Davis has very much dismissed fighting Conor Benn as an easy night’s work.

Benn fought this past weekend out in Las Vegas as he works to try and get back into contention for some of the biggest fights in his division. He beat Pete Dobson over 12 rounds – the first time he has fought the full championship distance – but failed to knock the American down or out.

That led some fighters to critique Benn, namely Errol Spence Jr, Devin Haney and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. Davis took to X to respond to Benn’s hit list of opponents, and threw his own hat in the ring.

The knockout artist from Baltimore then posted a screenshot of a message from Eddie Hearn, hinting that the fight is now in very early talks. He was recently reported to be looking to fight in the UK next.

Davis was recently named the sole WBA Lightweight World Champion following Devin Haney’s move up to 140lbs. The weight remains a big issue in any talks with Benn, who fought at a 150lbs catchweight on Saturday. Davis has previously fought once at 140 and no higher.

Next for Benn is an appeal hearing brought on by the British Boxing Board of Control as he tries to get his British license back following a suspension for failed tests back in October 2023.
