“Dude a Middleweight”: Fans Give Mixed Reactions to Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis’ Walking Weight

Would you believe that if Gervonta Davis, now Abdul Wahid after converting to Islam, wanted to fight Chris Eubank Jr., he could probably get it? While it remains to be seen how ‘Tank’ would perform against an opponent who is taller and has a better reach, Wahid could potentially make the weight necessary for the fight.

Earlier this year, team Devin Haney wanted to sign a deal with ‘Tank’. In addition, Bob Arum mentioned that Shakur Stevenson would give Davis a tougher fight than Ryan Garcia. However, per a clip that went viral, it seems Davis could afford to overlook the Lightweights in the sport.

Gervonta Davis goes into disbelief as he learns about his weight

A fan took to X and shared a brief clip owned by Showtime. In the clip, Gervonta Davis is seen standing on the scales to know his walking weight. “How much do I weigh?” asks the current WBA Lightweight champion. However, the answer he receives sends ‘Tank’ into complete disbelief. “154!” exclaimed ‘Tank’. And immediately, he emptied his pockets to stand on the scale one more time. “Alright, weigh me one more time,” he is heard saying. At this, the other person replies, “150“.

As expected, the fact that Gervonta Davis, who showed interest in Conor Benn lately, weighed 15 lbs more than a Lightweight surprised the fans. As a result, several fans called him a Middleweight, reacting to the post. One fan wrote, “dude a middleweight“.

One can only speculate that if Davis were to lose the belongings and the clothes he carried, his weight would drop significantly.. Anyway, what is your reaction to the brief clip? Were you surprised too that he weighed in at 155 lbs initially? At that, do you think he should even entertain a fight against a welterweight like Conor Benn? If not, then who would you like to see him against in his comeback fight?
