In a recent pinch, a clip of ‘Sugar’ Ray Leonard and Thomas Hearns trash-talking on Mike Tyson’s podcast resurfaced online. The pair had fought each other twice more than three decades ago, so their encounter during the podcast erupted into a heated debate. Adding fuel to the fire was Mike Tyson, who did his part to egg on both men till they almost came to blows, leaving Terence Crawford in tears of laughter.

Though the clip is from an old Hotboxin’ podcast, the entertainment value behind the clip has kept it relevant and circulating on social media, where Crawford discovered it. So, the former undisputed champion decided to react to the hilarious video via his Instagram story today!

Terence Crawford laughs as Mike Tyson gaslights two legends

In the clip, Tommy Hearns can be seen telling Leonard, “You were scared of me.” Responding to the allegation from Hearns, Leonard claimed, “No, I was concerned. I wasn’t scared!” However, denial from Leonard did not stop Hearns, who kept implying the former was scared of him. So, Leonard boldly stated, “Tommy, I can knock you out now.”

Seeing the situation unfolding in front of his eyes, Mike Tyson vocalized the prospect of the two fighting right there: “Holy s**t! Holy s**t!” First concerned about the two legends fighting on his show, his apprehensions soon turned into enthusiastic spectatorship as he remarked, “F**k that N***a up, Tommy.”

Later, when Terence Crawford found the clip of the podcast floating around on Instagram, he shared it on his Instagram story with a caption reading, “Mike Tyson [is] funny as s**t, instigating.”

However, the question is – what happened during their fights that they are such bitter rivals to this day?

‘Sugar’ Ray Leonard vs. Thomas Hearns: A business unsettled

Hearns and Leonard first met in the ring back in September 1981 at Caesars Palace, Outdoor Arena, Las Vegas, with the WBA and WBC titles on the line. Even though Leonard managed to pull off a fourteenth-round stoppage win, Hearns had put on quite a fight. So much so that – the fight was declared the ‘Fight of the Year’ by the prestigious Ring Magazine.

The fight saw Hearns tasting defeat for the first time in his highly decorated career. So, he was amped up to exact vengeance for the loss. With those intentions, the pair met each other in the ring for the second time eight years later. By this time, Thomas had accumulated two more losses but came into the ring much more experienced.

So, when the dust settled after their twelve-round battle – nobody won. The fight was declared a split-decision draw. There was talk of a third fight between the two to put the rivalry to rest, but it never happened.

After the old clip of ‘Sugar’ Ray Leonard and Thomas Hears beefing on Tyson’s podcast reappeared on social media, it didn’t just show Mike Tyson’s instigating nature but also the deep-rooted rivalry these fighters still carry for each other. Of course, it didn’t fail to amuse Terence Crawford, especially because of Mike Tyson’s hilarious conduct. However, what did you think of the clip? Would you want to see Leonard and Hearns fight each other again?
