With success comes rivalries, and Gervonta Davis knows that quite well! Whether it’s Devin HaneyRyan Garcia, or Shakur Stevenson, everyone wants a piece of Davis’ fame. In a recent pinch, an old sparring clip of the Baltimore native and rising bantamweight star Elijah Pierce surfaced online, resulting in a heated back-and-forth between the fighters.

Currently, Davis is rumored to be on a collision course with fellow lightweight boxer Frank Martin this summer. However, nothing is official yet. On the other hand, Pierce is set to fight Arthur Villanueva from the Philippines.

Gervonta Davis accuses Elijah Pierce of leaking their sparring footage, amid back and forth

Turning to Instagram, Overtime Boxing shared the clip with the caption, “Elijah & Tank sparring back in the day. Great work from both guys.” When the 27-year-old boxer discovered the post later, he quickly tried to defend the knockdown shown in the clip. Elijah commented on the post, “Sorry to disappoint the Tank Franks, but that wasn’t me he dropped. [It] was my sparring partner—check again. [I] already debunked this, lol.”

However, ‘Tank’ Davis disagreed—in a now-deleted comment on the post, Davis wrote, “I knocked you out cold. And when I see you [I will] do it again. Since you [want to] keep sending this bull***t clip out.” Responding to Davis’ comment, Elijah mocked Davis’ claim that he knocked him out, suggesting he didn’t leak the sparring clip. Meanwhile, Davis himself confirmed his next fight date, albeit the identity of his opponent remains murky at best.

‘Tank’ Davis answers fan’s request

Since defeating Ryan Garcia last April via seventh-round knockout, the WBA lightweight champion has been collecting dust on the sidelines. However, since 2024 rolled, people have been abuzz about his comeback. At first, it was Conor Benn, but Davis didn’t like the offer Eddie Hearn made for the fight, so that was quickly scrapped.

However, some chatter revealed Davis may face his undefeated counterpart, Frank Martin, in the summer. While there’s no concrete evidence that Martin will be his next opponent, the month of the fight is finally confirmed. On March 21, a fan asked Davis about his next fight on X, and Davis simply responded by writing, “June.”
