If there is someone who has been openly bashing LIV Golf, it’s Brandel Chamblee. He dislikes the Saudi-funded league and has not shied away from expressing that! He, however, dislikes Phil Mickelson more! After going back and forth with each other, the two never seem to stop taking jabs at each other, but his latest remarks on Lefty were different!

In the recent episode of “The Thing About Golf” by Golf Australia, the renowned analyst expressed his thoughts on the Saudi-funded league and referred to Mickelson as a bit different, and in a good way!

What does Brandel Chamblee have to say about Phil Mickelson and LIV Golf?

While talking about LIV Golf, the former golfer said, “All the Saudis did was buy a moment in time. That’s all they’ve done.” Moving forward in the conversation about the best golfers, he added, “They’ve bought players who were. Some of them were in peak form, but not many.”  Without any delay, he also stated that the Saudi-backed league has “bought names that could be useful for them for their purposes.”

Even though the analyst revealed his clear sentiments toward the circuit, he cryptically praised Mickelson. He said that usually, the golfers who are on LIV have 5 years of good golf left if they are lucky, and if they are extraordinarily lucky, they can extend the tenure, but not Phil Mickelson! He is an “anomaly,” said Chamblee.

While praising Mickelson and English professional golfer Lee Westwood, the golf analyst said, “a bit more longer that Phil Mickelson bit longer. He’s hidden which was he he’s anomaly. Westwood didn’t play store nary golf. He played good golf. Very good golf.”

Mickelson achieved a remarkable T2 finish at the 2023 Masters, leaving fans astonished on the greens. Despite the tournament’s initial challenges for the 54-year-old, Lefty became the oldest runner-up. Proceeding to the final round, Mickelson concluded with eight birdies and one bogey, achieving a record-setting score of 65 and securing the early clubhouse lead at 8 under par.

It’s the “anomaly” remark that has the center of attention right now because it’s the first time Chamblee said something like this about Lefty! All other times, the discussion between the two has been a war of words that has even stretched too far and beyond and made headlines. The duo has traded insults before, including an instance where Chamblee invited the 53-year-old pro for a face-to-face discussion.

What happened when Chamblee invited Lefty?

In March 2023, amid their ongoing rivalries, a comparable incident emerged when Mickelson voiced his comments following Claude Harmon III, Brooks Koepka’s swing coach, accusing Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee of being a paid actor for denouncing LIV golf. In response to that, Chamblee invited Mickelson for a “Live From” set during the 2023 U.S. Open at L.A. Country Club.

However, the 54-year-old golfer declined the invitation, stating, “I don’t want to help golf channel in ANY way or help him.” The golf analyst and commentator later blocked Mickelson on X too
