Indeed, it will be an enthralling round for Lefty as he may contend for his 7th major title, although the third round proved to be a struggle for the pro as he shot 1 over 72 to be 6 over par after the three rounds. Despite that, the LIV Golf Pro was still excited, and the reason is truly unique.
Taking to his X account, the 6-time major winner exclaimed his excitement to be paired with another left-handed golfer and it was none other than, the Genesis Scottish Open winner, Robert MacIntyre. Mickelson tagged the 2-time PGA Tour winner and appreciatively said, “Playing with the long hitting, bomb dropping, Scottish Open winning fellow Lefty. Let’s go have a day!”
On the other hand, the Oban native also echoed similar joy when paired with Lefty. He shared his anticipation for the final round because Mickelson had been his inspiration since a young age. And to play with him was an honor for MacIntyre, as this pairing may not be seen again, at least not until 2025. Thus, the 27-year-old pro tweeted, “Final round alongside my childhood hero in front of a home support.”
