Simone Biles dominated the Sportpaleis in Belgium. However, her journey to Antwerp was about more than just gymnastics medals. She had the time of her life, surrounded by a like-minded team. The Team USA gymnastics women ensured their trip to the diamond capital consisted not only of hard work but also of letting their hair down and enjoying the vibrant city. Stories and highlights uploaded by each of them showed their outings and enjoying the best the city had to offer.

Biles even took to Instagram to share the little moments that were special to her in a photo dump on her profile. She posted pictures from Belgian pancakes to pizza, even the chalk holder, with empowering messages like “You’re awesome” and “And you’re doing great.” She also shared moments of joy with group photos of her teammates and a shot with the youngest member, Joscelyn Roberson, at Antwerp’s iconic City Hall and the Brabo monument. Amidst these fun moments, a cryptic message from the queen had emerged.

Hidden in the carousel was a picture that wasn’t a place or a thing, but rather a message. Biles shared a quote with a pink background that read, “reminder: It’s gonna be okay.” This image in slide 6 stood out because, amid all the fun, frolic, and hard work, it served as a reminder not only to Biles but also to her followers

Biles had to go through so much to get to where she is. Her return to Antwerp came after a two-year break, a hiatus caused by the multitude of challenges she faced in 2021, from twisties to mental health issues. And her return to the world stage was also accompanied by its fair share of challenges, including bouts of anxiety.

Admitting her nervousness in Belgium

Biles herself admitted to the anxiety she faced in Antwerp. She took to TikTok and shared a “Get Ready With Me” video in which she opened up about her challenges. She even said, “I was so nervous last night and so anxious, and I don’t know why. I guess it’s normal. It means you’re prepared.” She also shared how her husband, Jonathan Owens, helped her realize this despite being far away.

The hidden message from Biles was proof that, through all the moments, she needed reassurance that indeed, everything would be alright. After all, the support she received and these reminders helped her clinch five medals at Antwerp, four of which were gold. Biles’ message resonated with her fans as well

One fan commented on her post, saying, “I could use that reminder in picture 6 every day. My anxiety is terrible.” Another said, “Thank you for showing the world what is possible when you put your mental health first.” Biles not only helped herself; she further shared the message with all that, indeed, “It’s going to be okay.”
