RETIRED boxing legend Riddick Bowe has called out Anthony Joshua.

The 56-year-old American believes he could knock out the former world champion within five rounds.

Joshua is yet to finalise his next opponent after beating Robert Helenius back in August.

AJ KO’d his Finnish rival in the seventh round to move to a 26-3 record as a professional.

Despite chasing a fight with fellow former champion Deontay Wilder, another American has now thrown his hat in the ring to face Joshua.

Bowe has vowed to come out of retirement to knock out the British boxing star.

Speaking on The Porter Way Podcast earlier this year, he claimed: “In my prime, Anthony Joshua, he wouldn’t fight. I’d break him off something proper. Five (rounds).

“And I’ll tell you what, if you give me enough money I’ll come out of retirement and show you better than I can tell you. You know my motto is ‘show me the money’.”

Bowe himself was an undisputed world heavyweight champion during the 1990s.

“Big Daddy” also won a silver medal at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.

However, he has not fought professionally since 2008, retiring with a record of 43 wins, one loss and one no contest.

The only defeat of Bowe’s career came against Evander Holyfield in 1993.

His Joshua callout comes after he had been set for a return to the ring in 2021.

Bowe was booked to fight ex-NBA star Lamar Odom in a celebrity boxing bout.

The fight was later axed, though, with organisers concerned over Bowe’s health condition in the build-up to his clash with Odom.

Eddie Hearn is expected to match Anthony Joshua, a lower fringe-level contender, for his December fight now that the match against Deontay Wilder is no longer happening. Joshua will NOT be facing Wilder for his fight in December. Instead, he will be matched against an unknown opponent who is no threat to him. In other words, it’ll be someone similar to Joshua’s last two fringe-level foes that Hearn dug up for him. Hearn is working hard to protect Joshua’s career by avoiding dangerous fighters like Deontay and Zhilei Zhang, who would surely end his career and finish him for good as a money-fighter.

Putting Joshua in with a killer like Deontay would be bad news for him, and Hearn doesn’t want to risk his golden goose before she’s finished playing 24K gold eggs. It’s become obvious that Hearn isn’t going to risk Joshua’s career being finished off by the knockout artist Deontay (43-2-1, 42 KOs), who would ruin everything before AJ has gotten the huge pot of gold against Tyson Fury money. It is believed that Hearn is intentionally delaying the fight with Wilder until after Joshua faces Tyson Fury in March, which is expected to be the biggest payday for AJ. The rumored names for Joshua’s December fight are these guys: Agit Kabayel Demsey McKean Otto Wallin Jonathan Guidry
We had an offer from Saudi Arabia to fight Deontay Wilder.

We accepted it, and Wilder accepted it. It didn’t materialize. So, now we’re at other venues for that potential fight,” said Eddie Hearn via talksport boxing. Joshua’s December Opponent Won’t Be Top Eight “No offer came from Skills Challenge in Saudi Arabia from finances. So, the fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder collapsed. The money isn’t there,” said Gareth A. Davies. “Eddie Hearn traversed to talk about it potentially happening in the UK or happening in America in Las Vegas.

There was even talk about a fight with Zhilei Zhang in China.” It’s pretty obvious that Hearn never wanted Zhang or Wilder for Joshua because he saw the big picture, realizing what would happen if he let AJ fight either of those guys. Yeah, Joshua would have a puncher’s chance of beating them, but with his fragile chin, and his timid, gunshy fighting style, he would be sparked out by Wilder & Zhang before he even had a chance to throw any of his own bombs. The reality is, that Hearn isn’t going to let Joshua take ANY risky fights until after he fights Tyson Fury. Once that fight happens two or three times and Joshua’s is on its last legs, then Hearn will feed him to Wilder for that last payday. Then Joshua will sail off into the sunset, retiring with likely three or four consecutive defeats.

With his stoppage win over Ryan Garcia back in April, Gervonta Davis established himself as one of the biggest stars in the sport as well as one of the greatest fighters of this generation.

A recent social media post from Davis has revealed who he believes is the best of all time – and it’s someone he knows quite well.

From his professional debut, the Baltimore puncher was a protege of five weight champion, pay per view star and all time great Floyd Mayweather and a leading light of Mayweather Promotions.

And ‘Tank’ has shared a text message exchange between himself and Mayweather, where the 28 year old tells ‘Money’ that he was “the best to ever do it.”

Although everything between the pair seems nice and rosey now, Mayweather and Davis have not always been the best of friends.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – APRIL 23: CAPTION at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

An anonymous text message was sent to the media back in 2022 that Davis was no longer affiliated with Mayweather Promotions, then an official announcement before his fight with Rolando Romero.

Though the pair have not reunited just yet, Davis has not ruled it out and Mayweather has spoken fondly of his former charge, describing him on numerous occasions as being like a son to him.

‘Tank’ has not boxed since the Garcia fight, mainly due to having to serve a jail term over the summer that saw momentum in his career take a brief halt.

However, the three weight world champion is expected to be back in the ring in early 2024, with a host of big money fights potentially available in and around the lightweight division.

Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell collided at the start before Max Verstappen went on to dominate the Qatar Grand Prix.

The crash caused Hamilton’s retirement and dropped Russell to the back of the field, from where he fought back in impressive fashion to finish fourth.

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris took second and third after holding position in the final stages.

Verstappen was in total control after clinching his third title on Saturday.

The Dutchman led throughout from pole position, although he did lose the lead after his first stop, mandated by rules restricting tyre mileage as a result of safety concerns.

All the teams were restricted to a maximum of 18 laps on each set of tyres after Pirelli discovered its product was vulnerable to failure at high speed over the kerbs at the Lusail circuit.

That led to a staccato race in which it took time for the order to settle down, all drivers forced to make at least three pit stops by the tyre-mileage limits.

Williams’ Alex Albon led the race after Verstappen had made his first pit stop, a situation partly influenced by an early safety car deployed to recover Hamilton’s damaged Mercedes.

But as the strategies evened out over a race distance, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took fifth place behind Verstappen, Piastri, Norris and Russell.

Leclerc capitalised on an error by Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso, who ran wide off the circuit at about half distance and lost out to the Ferrari.

Alonso, struggling with a seat that was burning him, held on for sixth ahead of Alpine’s Esteban Ocon and Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas.

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez finished ninth on the road after starting from the pit lane following a crash in Saturday’s spring, his race hampered by two five-second penalties for exceeding track limits.

But the Mexican’s race was hampered by two five-second penalties for exceeding track limits, the first served at a pit stop and the second imposed at the end, demoting him to 10th behind Alfa Romeo’s Zhou Guanyu.

Lewis Hamilton

What happened to the Mercedes pair?

Starting from second and third, Russell and Hamilton had a great opportunity to build a large gap to Ferrari in their fight for second in the constructors’ championship and Hamilton to close on Red Bull’s Sergio Perez for second in the drivers’ title chase.

But they came to grief at the first corner as they tried to go three abreast with Verstappen.

Hamilton started on the soft tyres, which gave him greater grip off the line, and he pulled alongside Russell on the outside, with Verstappen in the lead on the inside, but not a full car’s length ahead of the Mercedes.

As Hamilton tried to sweep around the outside, his right rear wheel tagged Russell’s left front and the seven-time champion spun into the gravel.

In their immediate radio messages, the drivers were angry with each other, Hamilton saying he had been “taken out by my team-mate” and Russell saying “for the second race in succession”, a reference to his feelings that Hamilton had not played the team game as they fought the Ferraris in Japan two weeks ago.

Out of the car, Hamilton was more contrite, saying: “It’s a fine line. I’m sorry for all the team.”

And he later said on social media: “I’ve watched the replay and it was 100% my fault and I take full responsibility. Apologies to my team and to George.”

Russell dropped to last with a pit stop to replace his tyres at the end of the first lap, but drove an impressive race to fight back to fourth place, underlining what might have been possible for both cars had they not collided.

Mercedes realised early on that the mandated shorter stint lengths, combined with less tyre wear issues than in the sprint, meant Russell could push harder than expected.

It was a realisation they seemed to come to earlier than other teams, and allowed Russell to make a lot of ground through the race.

Golfing legend Phil Mickelson has posted a tweet disclosing his intention to stop gambling, admitting that he has crossed the line past moderation into addiction. The 53-year-old American also revealed that he has received professional help for many years and is in recovery.

Public Admission

Micelson’s public admission of a gambling addiction comes barely a month after renowned gambler Billy Walters wrote in his book that Mickelson wagered more than $1 billion over the last three decades and wanted to place a $400,000 bet on the 2012 Ryder Cup while playing for Team USA. Mickelson denied ever betting on the Ryder Cup.

In his lengthy post, Mickelson said he won’t bet on football this season and opened up on his struggles and how he’s on the road to being “the person I want to be”.

He admitted that he had crossed the line of moderation and entered into addiction, which he said “isn’t any fun at all”.

“The money wasn’t ever the issue since our financial security has never been threatened, but I was so distracted I wasn’t able to be present with the ones I love and caused a lot of harm,”

Phil Mickelson

He also offered advice to anyone who might be struggling with similar issues:

“If you ever cross the line of moderation and enter into addiction, hopefully you won’t confuse your enablers as friends like I did.”

Mickelson’s statement has been widely covered in the media, with many outlets reporting on his admission of addiction and his efforts to repair the damage it caused.

He also thanked his wife for her support during his recovery process, saying:

“I couldn’t have gotten through this without her. I’m so grateful for her strength in helping us get through the many challenges I’ve created for us. … Because of her love, support and commitment, I’m back on track to being the person I want to be.”

At the height of the rivalry between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour, the battle between the two leagues felt more like the equivalent of the war between WCW and the WWE in the 1990s, and at other times, it mirrored a high school spat.

When it comes to how Tiger Woods had Phil Mickelson snubbed from a private dinner during the week of the 150th Open Championship in 2022, it certainly seemed more like the latter.

According to an excerpt from Alan Shipnuck’s upcoming book “LIV and Let Die,” Woods had Mickelson kept out of a private dinner for Open winners held at the R&A clubhouse.

The Open was taking place shortly after LIV Golf had launched its first event in June 2022, and tensions were high between golfers from the Saudi-backed league and those who remained loyal to the PGA Tour.

Woods, according to Shipnuuck, took it upon himself to have the defector kept out of the gathering.

“He talked to a handful of other [past champions] to get their blessing and then went to the R&A and told them, basically, no one wanted Phil there and it would make the night weird and awkward,” one man at the dinner said. “Whose side were they going to take,Tiger’s or Phil’s? That’s an easy choice.

Phil Mickelson

Mickelson had told reporters last year that the R&A advised him not to partake in activities for past champions during tournament week.

He didn’t mention any pressure being put on the R&A to keep him away from events.

“The R&A contacted me a couple weeks before and said, ‘Look, we don’t think it’s a great idea you go, but if you want to, you can,’’’ Mickelson said to reporters at the time. “I just didn’t want to make a big deal about it, so I said, ‘Fine.’ We both kind of agreed that it would be best if I didn’t.’

Things have certainly shifted quite a bit in the golf world since then.

LIV Golf and the PGA Tour announced a merger in June that stunned the sports world.

The situation remains fluid, as the deal has faced scrutiny from regulators, and other bidders have emerged for the PGA.

Terence Crawford believes Saul ‘Canelo’ Álvarez has double standards when it comes to accepting challenges in the ring.

The undefeated welterweight recently beat Errol Spence Jr to become undisputed, and quickly looked for more legacy-defining contests. He landed on Canelo, who holds all four belts three weight classes up at super-middle.

Terence Bud Crawford

The Mexican hasn’t ruled the fight out entirely, but says it’s not in his plans. He is also adamant that his days below 168lbs are over, meaning Crawford would not be met in the middle.

‘Bud’ has found an old clip from an interview in 2020 before Canelo’s fight with Callum Smith that he believes shows a contradiction. In it, Canelo is open the idea of fighting Spence at the middleweight limit of 160.

Since that interview, Canelo has settled further at super-middleweight, becoming undisputed by picking up the WBO belt from Billy Joe Saunders and the IBF from Caleb Plant.

He’s also three years older, and has had another move up to the light-heavyweight 175 limit thrown in. In short, it looks like his mind is made up about not going any lower.

Crawford says that’s not a problem, and wants the belts at super-middle. Some pundits have recently advised him against it given the one-sided win the Mexican lodged against Jermell Charlo recently – also a man moving up in weight.

Terence Crawford went on an archaeology expedition and unsurfaced an ancient interview done by Canelo Alvarez, saying he’d move down from 168 to 160 to face Errol Spence Jr. The interview that Crawford dug up from Canelo was in 2020 before his second fight at 168. Up until then, Canelo had only once fought at 168, and that was against Rocky Fielding, so he hadn’t fully grown into the weight class like he is now. The fact that Crawford is stooping to the level of unburying timeworn interviews of Canelo shows his desperation and grasping for anything he can to get that lucrative fight.

This information won’t help Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) create the kind of pressure on Canelo from the public for the Nebraska native to get the final payday to move to Beverly Hills to rub shoulders with the movie stars. Who wouldn’t want to live on Rodeo Drive? Canelo received zero credit from fans for his recent win over 154-pounder Jermell Charlo, and he’s not going to go one step further by selecting the 147-lb Crawford for his next fight.

Terence Crawford

Crawford must really think Canelo was born yesterday if he thinks he’d be willing to waste another one of his fights by fighting another smaller fighter like himself.
Even if Canelo evaporates the 36-year-old Crawford with one of his uppercuts, fans aren’t going to give him any credit due to Terence’s size and his age. In the three-year-old interview by Canelo in 2020 with Fight Hub TV, before his fight with Callum Smith, the Mexican star said, “It’s an interesting fight. Errol Spence is a great fighter. If he wants to go up in weight, then that could be a good fight.

That’s something we could still do. We could still go down to 160.” In December 2020, Errol Spence Jr. had just finished fighting for the first time since his horrifying car crash in 2019, and he was still viewed as a top fighter. By the time Crawford fought Spence in July, the effects of a previous car accident, inactivity, weight issues, and wear from previous fights were evident. Obviously, the best way for Crawford to go about getting the Canelo fight would be to knock off the highest-ranked contender at 168 by facing David Benavidez or David Morrell Jr. to earn the shot.

Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk has been in the works for a couple of years. Given the stakes of this bout, the negotiations were bound to linger for this fight. Moreover, back in the summer of this year, it appeared the bout was as good as done after it seemed like they agreed on terms on social media. However, their assent was short-lived and the negotiations fell apart. That being said, in a recent turn of events. it is reported that both heavyweight champions have signed the dotted line for the undisputed fight.

America’s Favorite Video Today

Although the date of the bout is not made official, it is speculated to take place in the last week of December or in January of next year. Witnessing this, many boxing pundits and fans weighed in on this match-up to make their predictions known, including Shakur Stevenson.

Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk? Shakur Stevenson weighs in

The 24-year-old is the undefeated featherweight world champion. Moreover, back in April of this year, he made his debut in the lightweight division and is eyeing to fight for the title soon. When asked about this match-up, he considered the fact that Fury is evidently taller and significantly bigger than the unified heavyweight champion. In addition, he thinks, ‘The Gypsy King,’ is just as skillful as the Ukrainian.

Given the size advantage, while favoring Fury, he stated, “Uysk, I watched his last fight, he looks real good. He is a great fighter. I think the size is going to be too much. You gotta realize, Tyson Fury is two what? 270? He is too big for a lot of heavyweights and he got boxing skills and he got to know how to use size.”

tyson fury and oleksandr usyk

He adds, “So I don’t know if Uysk is gonna be able to beat him. Uysk is tremendous talent. But I just don’t see it.” It is safe to say that if ‘Sugar,’ is a betting man, his money would be on Fury. However, let’s take a look at a boxing legend’s prediction for this fight.

Former boxing world champion predicts Fury vs Uysk

Retired boxer and former champion, Ricky Hatton gave his prediction for the heavyweight clash after much thought. According to him, Fury is very skilled, versatile, and has a size advantage. Considering the same, he fancied the chances of Fury more than Uysk. Reflecting on the same, he stated, “When you think Tyson has the height, the reach, he can box southpaw, Orthodox, stand there, sit in there, and have a fight, he can sit and sway and move and make you miss off the back-foot. He can lean, counterpunch, he does everything Uysk does and he’s got the strength and weight advantage.”

Matchroom Promoter, Eddie Hearn, has applauded the efforts of both Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk for finally agreeing to a deal that will see the first undisputed heavyweight title clash of the four-belt era. However, the promoter anticipates that the fight itself will underwhelm.

Fury and Usyk were linked to a bout with one another throughout at the beginning of this year, but, to the disappointment of fans, the showdown failed to materialise.

Now, in an out-of-the-blue announcement, it seems that the two champions are set to finally face one another in boxing’s most beckoned-for bout.

Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury

In an interview with Seconds Out, Hearn picked his winner ahead of the spectacle, which he believes to be ‘great for the sport’ but a ‘stinker’ for the viewers.

Fury-Usyk will supposedly take place as early as December 23 or in early 2024. It’s said that the official date will be announced following the Brit’s crossover clash with MMA star, Francis Ngannou
