Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois could be facing off at Wembley Stadium this September – will the old guard get the victory or can young Dubois snatch the top spot?

The 26-year-old scored a career-best win over Filip Hrgovic this month and with that came the IBF Interim title. It puts him in prime position to challenge for the full world belt should Oleksandr Usyk be forced to vacate it.

Hot on his heels is ‘AJ’, who wants nothing more than a third stint as champion. His team are in discussions with Dubois’ for the already-booked September fight.

In an interview with Boxing King Media, Johnny Nelson backed the two-time heavyweight champion to show the young gun how it’s done.

The former cruiserweight world champion was adamant that he wasn’t overlooking the resurgent Dubois, but was confident that Joshua wouldn’t either.

Promoter Eddie Hearn tells Seconds Out that the Dubois fight will be the target if the IBF World Title is on the line. The sanctioning body has not made a decision on whether or not Usyk can keep hold of it for his Tyson Fury rematch.

Anthony Joshua is poised to face winner of Tyson Fury’s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

The two heavyweights will square off once again in Saudi Arabia later this year with the Gypsy King aiming to gain revenge on the man who unified the division with a thrilling win. AJ’s next assignment is likely to be in September at Wembley against Daniel Dubois – who secured a statement win over Filip Hrgovic at the weekend.

Whoever comes out on top in the all-British encounter is likely to get a shot at the man who wins the Fury-Usyk rematch, according to Eddie Hearn.

The Matchroom supremo has confirmed that, even if Fury gains revenge to leave the score between him and Usyk at 1-1, there is unlikely to be a trilogy fight between the pair.

He told The Sun: “I expect the winner of the December fight to fight Anthony Joshua, if he wins in September. There’s no decision yet made on the opponent, there’s three or four in the mix. But yeah, that’s the absolute plan. The first priority is to regain the world heavyweight title and obviously undisputed’s always been the dream. So I think we’re two fights away from becoming undisputed. But, we’ve got to win them.”

Joshua has never fought Fury and has twice been beaten by Usyk, which set him up for his historic unification attempt in Saudi Arabia. The Watford-born fighter was last in the ring back in March, seeing off Francis Ngannou.

He’s won his last four bouts since back-to-back losses to the Ukrainian and Joshua accepts that he has to overcome several obstacles to get back to the top.

The 34-year-old said: “I’ve got to pick them off one by one. It’s not going to be easy, but that’s my mentality. So come one, come all…He [Dubois] has been in tougher fights, so he becomes hardened. He has worked his way up the ladder, we’ll see what happens in the near future. Wembley, O2, York Hall – wherever they put me, I’m happy to fight. Any venue, I’ll turn up and do my job.”

Dubois meanwhile has come out all guns blazing as he eyes the sport’s biggest prize. He has lost twice in his career – with one of those coming against Usyk – but he’s confident he can see off AJ.

He said: “That’s what I’ve been hearing [that Joshua could be next], so let’s see. [Being world champion] is a dream. From challenging for the world title to getting the chance to win the damn thing outright, that’s what I want. I’ll demolish Joshua. I’ll get even better from here.”

Anthony Joshua returns to Wembley Stadium in September and there are three frontrunners to fill the opposite corner.

The Olympic Gold Medalist come two-time world heavyweight champion has been enjoying a resurgence in his career under the guidance of Ben Davison, bouncing back from two losses to Oleksandr Usyk to go on a run of four wins.

Joshua is positioned well with the sanctioning bodies and has made it clear his current goal in the sport is to become world champ once more.

The simplest route to that looks to be the IBF. Usyk, who now holds all four belts after an incredible victory over Tyson Fury, could be forced to vacate that particular title since a rematch with the Brit will stop him facing his overdue mandatory.

Joshua then was closely linked to face 26-year-old Daniel Dubois, who won the IBF Interim Title from Filip Hrgovic this past weekend.

Speaking to Seconds Out, promoter Eddie Hearn said Dubois was the likely opponent on the condition that the vacant belt was on the line.

Joseph Parker has been angling for a rematch with ‘AJ’ after losing on points back in 2018.Zhilei Zhang is also looking to avenge a loss, his back in the amateur days at the 2012 Olympics.

With both men having recently defeated Deontay Wilder, each has a good case for the Joshua fight, although Parker likely stand ahead given he has also beaten Zhilei Zhang.

Anthony Joshua could face the winner of the Filip Hrgovic and Daniel Dubois fight for the IBF world title at Wembley Stadium on September 21 should it get stripped off Oleksandr Usyk, PUNCH reports.

Usyk outpointed Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia on May 18 to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 24 years, but it was expected that the Ukrainian would soon have the IBF belt taken from him.

The IBF title was expected to be on the line on Saturday, June 1, 2024, when mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic fought Daniel Dubois in Riyadh, but the IBF decided to create an interim belt for that fight.

As a result, Usyk will keep the official title for the time being, as well as his undisputed status, though it is unclear whether the 37-year-old will be stripped before his rematch with Fury. That bout will take place in Riyadh on December 21.

However, if Usyk is stripped before then, Hrgovic or Dubois will be upgraded to become the official champion. It is also possible that the winner of Hrgovic/Dubois vs. Joshua will be upgraded after their fight instead.

Joshua, a two-time heavyweight champion who was at ringside for the Ukrainian’s split decision win over the Gipsy King, is enjoying a resurgence that began soon after his second consecutive loss to Usyk in 2022: beating Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin, and Francis Ngannou.

Eddie Hearn thinks the British Nigerian would have left Usyk’s victory over Fury, fancying his chances against both.

“I don’t think he’s that deep,” Hearn said on the True Geordie podcast when asked what would have been going through Joshua’s mind after the bout.

“I think probably deep down, he’s thinking, ‘Well, I lost, especially in the second fight, by a close points decision’.

“By the way, honestly, AJ was 50% of the fighter he is now. You saw in the press conference his reaction in the ring; he wasn’t himself, and I don’t think he was in a great place.

“Now he’s firing on every single cylinder that exists. So he’s watching that fight, thinking, ‘I’d love another crack at Usyk’. He’s thinking, ‘I’d love a fight with Fury, but he did say to me before that fight, ‘Usyk would win on points’ and he was right, in a great fight.”

Anthony Joshua is clearly staying in shape during his time in Saudi Arabia.

‘AJ’ recently arrived in Riyadh ahead of Tyson Fury’s undisputed heavyweight title fight with Oleksandr Usyk at the Kingdom Arena on Saturday night, but is also using the opportunity to stay in excellent shape.

The former two-time heavyweight champion will be sitting in the front row when two of his major rivals battle it out for the WBO, WBA, WBC, and IBF belts.

Joshua could potentially face the winner later this year or find himself competing for the IBF title if the pair choose to exercise the rematch clause in the contracts.

So, he’s been ticking over at the Mike Tyson Boxing Club in Riyadh.

On Tuesday, Joshua shared two pictures of him running on a treadmill to his social media channels.

The 34-year-old used the caption to give himself a new nickname.

“Quadzilla,” he wrote referencing the bulging muscles in his upper legs.

Joshua’s comment section was full of fans praising his impressive physique and relentless work ethic.

One person said: “Looking incredible go for it AJ.”

RIYADH – Tyson Fury says Anthony Joshua is wasting his time being in Riyadh for the fight on Saturday between Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

At the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia, Fury and Usyk will finally battle for the undisputed heavyweight title, and do so with a rematch clause already in place for them to fight again later in 2024.

Joshua is already in Riyadh for what could prove the most significant fight of the year – his recent victory over Francis Ngannou means he is on course to challenge the winner – but Fury has reminded him of how futile his presence is when he first expects to fight Usyk again.

If a mutual respect exists between Fury and the 37-year-old Usyk, the “Gypsy King” and Joshua have often had a considerably more strained relationship. Joshua is regardless expected to fight an alternative opponent before Fury and Usyk potentially fight again.

“There’s not much he can build because we have a two-fight deal, so if he builds what he wants to do he has to wait until it’s all over,” Fury said. “Then we can negotiate. Now the Saudis are involved and His Excellency [Turki Alalshikh] is controlling everything, he can make these fights like that because money is not a problem.

“And it’s always about money in these deals and why they don’t get made. All fights are easy to make in any weight division. Turki will make them.”

The 35-year-old Fury’s confidence in victory on Saturday is such that he was asked if a rematch would prove pointless, and he responded: “Double-bubble, innit?

“What are we in this for? Money. If I can get double-bubble for one job there’s not much more to be said.”

Deontay Wilder has expressed his eagerness for a fight against Anthony Joshua in London, describing it as “a long time coming”. The American heavyweight contender is looking to rebuild his career after a disappointing performance against Joseph Parker in December.

Originally scheduled to face Joshua in Saudi Arabia in March, Wilder’s lacklustre showing against Parker cost him the opportunity, reports the Express. However, the 38 year old is hopeful of making a comeback when he takes on Zhilei Zhang at the Matchroom vs Queensberry event in Riyadh on June 1.

Despite years of speculation, a fight between Joshua and Wilder has never come to fruition, largely due to promotional politics. Yet, Wilder is optimistic that if he can defeat Zhang next month, the much-anticipated fight will finally happen.

Speaking to Sportsbook Review about the prospect of facing Joshua in London, Wilder said: “Yeah, it turns me on.” He added: “I have no problem coming to London. It would be amazing for me.

“I actually have major fans in the UK, and I think they’re going to show up and represent me, even though I’m fighting their countryman. All these fights are beautiful to talk about, but I’ve got to handle business come June 1. But it has been a long time coming for that fight with AJ.

“It’s easy for them to talk about it right now because I already have a task I need to accomplish, but we’ll see what type of talk they have when I accomplish my task, then there will be no more hiding, no will be able to hide, no one will be able to be outspoken without any weight behind it. When I do what I’ve got to do, then you’ve got to be a man of your word and do what you said you’re going to do.”

Joshua is riding a four-fight winning streak, capped with a sensational knockout victory over MMA star Francis Ngannou in March. Wilder has been left impressed by the Englishman’s return to form, but he insists he has no fear of stepping into the ring with the former two-time unified heavyweight king.

“I want it. I’ve never ran from a fight, I never shied away from the fight, no matter what you’ve heard over the years,” he said. “I’ve never run from anyone, I’ve never dodged anyone, I’ve taken the short end of the sticks just to make fights happen, that’s the god’s honest truth. I’m here, and when I’ve done what I’m supposed to, let’s get this fight on.

“I want the biggest fights possible that can be made, but it all relies on June 1.”

Wilder also has his heart set on a fourth fight with Tyson Fury. The pair first met in 2018 with the bout ending in a draw before Fury won the rematch and the trilogy fight by stoppage in 2020 and 2021 respectively, with Fury set to face Oleksandr Usyk in a week.

“”I want to make Tyson Fury pay so bad, so bad,” he said. “I don’t think that chapter is over with. I could see a fourth fight. I could see a fourth in the making, created by the creators. The Saudis have the source and the power to make it all happen. I want to get it back so bad.”

Anthony Joshua has confirmed he will return to the ring in September following his KO win against Francis Ngannou.

Former two-time heavyweight world champion Joshua extended his unbeaten streak to four fights last month when he dropped Ngannou twice before stopping him for good in the second round. ‘AJ’ has been promised a shot at the undisputed world titles in his next fight, which Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are competing for next month.

When asked about his next fight on The Jonathan Ross Show, ‘AJ’ said: “Around September is when I’ve been told. I was hoping June. I’ve got some time to go on dates now and mingle a little bit. I’m training at the minute, I’ve got two months before I get into training camp.”

Queensbury Promotions are hosting a Wembley Stadium event later this year, according to Derek Chisora, and he recently claimed Joshua will be headlining the card. “He will fight the winner of Daniel Dubois and [Filip] Hrgovic in Wembley. F*** it, I’ve got a big mouth. That’s the plan. It’s gonna be a sick, a little adventure for Turki Alalshikh to bring it back to London,” Chisora told iFL TV.

Dubois and Hrgovic have been linked to fight on the undercard of Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol’s undisputed clash, which takes place in Saudi Arabia on June 1. The IBF world title could be on the line if the organisation forces Fury or Usyk to fight mandatory challenger Hrgovic.

Joshua fought three times last year as he won an unentertaining decision against Jermaine Franklin before KO’ing Robert Helenius and Otto Wallin. ‘AJ’ made his professional debut over a decade ago and when asked about his retirement plan, he said: “I’ve always said 35. I’m 35 in October, I’m thinking another two years or so if my body holds out.”

Deontay Wilder’s long-time trainer Malik Scott claims the ‘Bronze Bomber’ would agree to fight Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium in London.

The former heavyweight world champion hasn’t fought since his shock defeat to Joseph Parker back in December and is desperate to get back in the win column in his upcoming fight with Zhilei Zhang on the 1st of June.

A one-of-a-kind event was announced Monday as a squad of fighters representing Queensberry Promotions take on boxers from Matchroom in a unique five vs. five event to take place on the 1st of June in Saudi Arabia.

In one of the more intriguing plot twists, Wilder— a long-time rival of Eddie Hearn’s prized fighter Joshua — will represent Hearn’s Matchroom.

Another defeat could spell the end of Wilder’s glittering career. However, a huge win in Saudi Arabia could put his name back into the world title mix.

A Nigerian man, who identified himself simply as FBI, has challenged two-time former unified world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, to a boxing match, vowing to knock him out in the second round, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Speaking with confidence, the man told Joshua to fix a fight date and time.

In a new video circulating on social media platforms, the man, shirtless and flexing his muscles, delivered the message to Joshua.

He said, “Joshua, I’m still waiting for you. I believe that my message has reached you. Just give me the date, and I’ll show you. As the FBI, I will put you down in two rounds, in the second round, I’m gonna put you down.”

After calling on Joshua for a fight, FBI proceeded to train with tyres, punching them, lifting them and performing various other exercises to demonstrate his readiness.

The video attracted massive reactions from Nigerians.

Frank Edoho reacted, “This one think say he go beat Joshua tyre!”

Nollywood actor, Lanre Adediwura, added, “Wait, Anthony Joshua wan sleep for ground for the fight, abi na wetin? I no understand this moves.”

Popular comedian, Iamremote, joking said, “Shebi na floor Joshua go dey abi.”

Montero wrote, “He knows meeting AJ gonna change his life, fight or no fight so he just wants that attention and contact. I no really blame the guy, our government has failed us so everyone is trying to see what they can do to get out of poverty.”

Demo Pumpin rhetorically asked, “Is he a boxer or vulcaniser?”

The foodnetworking2 added, “I reject you for AJ because na sapa frustration you go use beat shege banza comot him body.”

Mayorsoj added, “Poverty dey fight you but na Anthony Joshua you wan fight.”
