They can sometimes go under the radar, but the people who train the best boxers are pretty brave as well and Gervonta Davis‘ trainer has gone after Floyd Mayweather.

As Mayweather once declared: “I’m the best, nobody can beat me.” Davis‘ trainer is planning to put that statement to the test.

Mayweather retired from professional boxing with a record of 50-0, with huge names like Manny Pacquiao and Canelo Alvarez failing to beat him when the chance came around.

He has never even been knocked down by an opponent’s punch, so you’d have to be brave or stupid to take him on.

The trainer’s statement

Taking to Instagram, Gervonta Davis‘ trainer wrote, “Gervonta Davis can decode the shoulder roll if Floyd can fight another exhibition. He can fight another fight if he is great as he says he is. Let’s stop spinning the fans, Gervonta vs Floyd.”

Davis was actually a part of Mayweather Productions in the past when he was trying to make his name, but since departing in 2022, he has been at loggerheads with Mayweather and a fight has been on the cards.

Mayweather had big hopes for Davis when they started working together.

“Uh, no I asked [was] what [Floyd] for the whole summer before I signed with him you know before I even you know signed anything on paper he already bought me cars, he bought me jewelry, and things like that,” Gervonta once said in an interview.

Terence Crawford is gearing up for a fresh showdown in a new weight division. He will face Israil Madrimov at the huge Riyadh Season Card at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California. The Uzbek boxer’s WBA light middleweight belt will be at stake. But it seems the duo will fight for the WBO’s interim title as well. Apart from the Crawford-Madrimov duel, the event will put on display three other title fights along with a few exciting heavyweight bouts, including the comeback of former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr.

It will be ‘Bud’s first foray into 154 pounds. So needless to say, many deem it a potential move to get closer to a fight with Canelo Alvarez. It’s a fight; Crawford has expressed a keen interest quite a few times. But as his long-time trainer, Brian ‘Bomac’ McIntyre, said, Team Crawford’s entire focus remains on the fight,

staring at them. Thus, the Nebraskan Southpaw is leaving no stone unturned to pull off a favorable outcome on August 3. He shared training footage with fans and followers today. To keep them and himself motivated, he roped in the famous quotes of Eric Thomas, ‘The Hip-Hop Preacher’.

Terence Crawford: Elevate Your Game

Seemingly emphasizing all his magical skills, which have mesmerized thousands of fans across the globe, Terence Crawford’s post says that they can neither be learned nor acquired externally. He said, “IN ME, NOT ON ME‼️ What I got can’t be taught.” A few ‘angry face with horns’ emoticons joined alongside. It doesn’t appear that any fan or follower would disagree with that opinion.

The proof of the pudding lies in eating. Hence, one need only look at some of the responses ‘Bud’ Crawford received. One fan said that the first two-division undisputed champion among men is ‘from another planet’. Another simply wrote, “GAMENESS, CHARACTER, DISCIPLINE, GRIT, DETERMINATION, WILL, DESIRE TO PREVAIL, =C R A W F O R D.

Does Shakur Stevenson deserve all the hate online? Terence Crawford and Claressa Shields believe he doesn’t—after all, he did his job and won the fight. See, the thing is, ‘Sugar’ was on thin ice after his fight against Edwin De Los Santos back in November last year. The fans became judge and jury and branded him boring.

They did have a point! Stevenson avoided action, and opted for a safer approach to win the fight on points. And the same thing happened during the Artem Harutyunyan fight last weekend, and people again erupted with criticism for the Newark native. But isn’t that what he is supposed to do—win the fight? Regardless, ‘Bud’ Crawford and ‘T-Rex’ Shields came to his rescue!

Shakur Stevenson accepts advice from Terence Crawford and Claressa Shields

After, what seems like the entire community, turned on Shakur Stevenson, criticizing him for his performance, Terence Crawford hopped on X to write, “F**k em little bro @ShakurStevenson let [them] know how you feel”, since they aren’t sitting quiet about how they feel about Stevenson.

It’s worth mentioning that Crawford and Stevenson share a deep brotherly bond, which was oh so obvious through the support that they have shown each other over the years. Nonetheless, soon afterwards came Claressa Shields, one of Shakur’s biggest supporters—she often calls the young boxer her younger brother.

So, there was no way in internal damnation—she was about to watch her lil bro roasted on the internet. She hit back, writing, “Y’all k**l me on this internet. What [makes] it ok for y’all to have opinions, statements, insults, post how something made you feel”, but Stevenson can defend himself. Well, Shields and Crawford would be related to know that Stevenson has taken their advice.

In a barrage of tweets on the platform, Stevenson looked actively defending himself against a tsunami of critics. One of his tweets read, “Bro everybody opening [their] mouth [with an] opinion let me tell n***as how I feel f**k it”. However, Stevenson has something else to say right after beating Harutyunyan.

Stevenson feels like the most hated man on the planet

The disappointment among the fans wasn’t a surprise, really. The booos began during the fight. The rowdy crowd of Stevenson’s hometown came to see an action packed fight. Instead, they got a running competition, with Stevenson and Harutyunyan fighting in spurts. During the in-ring interview post the fight, Stevenson attributed the booos to his opponent.

However, that changed swiftly when fans took to social media—it was a knockout they wanted. So, Stevenson responded, writing, “Most hated man in the sport. I appreciate yall for it thank u.. Much respect to Artem he came in shape and did what he could last night. I respect it..” Disappointed with the reactions from the fans, Stevenson gave props to the people who supported him, and wrote, “Tell your fav fighters [to] jump in the ring since I’m not like that I’ll be ready”.

What fate awaits Shakur Stevenson? He is officially a free agent now, after declining a $15 million offer for five fights from Top Rank. He might get bigger fights, but given all the criticism, the question is, who will agree to face him? Only time will tell! Until then, why didn’t you let us know what you think about Stevenson’s future?

Shakur Stevenson recalled a brutal sparring session with Terence Crawford in 2015.

Stevenson has become a well-respected name in US boxing, having won world titles in three weight classes including lightweight where he currently holds the WBC belt.

Stevenson has yet to be beaten in his professional career and opponents have rarely been able to lay a glove on him.

But as a 17-year-old bright young prospect, Stevenson was pitted against current pound-for-pound star Crawford.

‘Bud’ is nine years senior and it was seen as training experience that would be vital to help bridge the gap between his amateur career and professional level.

Stevenson suggested he was the one that encouraged rounds of sparring to take place, but didn’t expect the beating he received in the gym.

He said: “When I was, I want to say seventeen. I go pull up on him. So I was like, ‘yo, you going to give me some rounds?’

“And this was one of the one times that I had to actually learn that I am not the best!

“So I get in the ring and this dude got to beating me up, like we only sparred two or three rounds, it was four minute rounds.

“Man this dude beat me up so bad! I swear to God that was the worst a** whooping I ever had as a fighter!”

Full footage never emerged of the pair going at it that year, but it was clearly a huge learning curve for the future champion.

Stevenson then made his mark at amateur level winning a silver medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

He turned professional in February 2017, putting together a 12-fight win streak before his first world title shot at featherweight in 2019.

Stevenson defeated Joet Gonzalez to become world champion at the first time of asking in an impressive feat.

He then moved up to super-featherweight and stopped Jamel Herring to claim the WBO world title in a second weight class.

Prior to his win, pictures had emerged of the pair sparring again, in rounds Crawford described as ‘crazy’.

The talented Stevenson went on to unify the division, picking up the WBC belt with a dominant win over Oscar Valdez in 2022.

Prior to his win over Valdez, he had yet again been pictured sharing new rounds of sparring with Crawford.

The experienced American was having huge success at welterweight, and it was a renewed opportunity for Stevenson to prove his worth in a training challenge further along in his career.

In April 2023, Stevenson made his lightweight debut beating Shuichiro Yoshino before clinching a third world title with a win over Edwin De Los Santos seven months later.

And in his interview last year, Stevenson hailed Crawford’s influence as a key factor in the roaring success of his time in the professional ranks.

Oleksandr Usyk has beaten five Brits in the last six years, including winning the unified heavyweight titles from Anthony Joshua and defending them against Daniel Dubois.

It gives the Ukrainian a unique insight into the all-English clash set for September 21 at Wembley Stadium.

He beat Joshua twice, both times over the distance, and then followed up with a stoppage against Dubois. Since then, he has won the fourth and final heavyweight belt from Tyson Fury, becoming the division’s first undisputed champion in two and a half decades.

In an interview with Boxing News not long after his fight with the younger Brit, Usyk said he thought ‘AJ’ would always be a level above.

His words ‘let him become the champion’ ring truer than anyone thought they might considering Usyk recently vacated the IBF belt – ‘gifted’ in his words – and allowed Dubois to be elevated to full champion.

It means his first defence will be against Joshua in front of 90,000+ fans at the national arena – an extreme test of the heart that many pundits once questioned.

With Usyk set to rematch Fury in Saudi Arabia later this year, it’s thought that the winner of Dubois-Joshua may be set up to face the winner there.

It has long been debated among boxing fans as to who would have won if Anthony Joshua and Frank Bruno fought in their primes.

Both men are widely considered to be two of the best British heavyweights of all time and have carved out great careers for themselves.

Joshua is a two-time unified heavyweight champion with notable victories over Wladimir Klitschko, Joseph Parker and Alexander Povetkin.

Meanwhile, Bruno is a former WBC heavyweight champion, who famously won the world title at the fourth time of asking against Oliver McCall in a career-best showing at Wembley Stadium in 1995.

Most agree that AJ has a better resume but also acknowledge that Bruno, who competed as a professional between 1982 and 1996, fought in a stronger era.

In terms of how a fight would have played out between the heavyweight titans, it is far harder to gain a consensus viewpoint with boxing forums split down the middle.

Boxing fans may be divided on the outcome but Carl Froch has no doubt who would have got their hand raised if Joshua and Bruno ever fought at the peak of their powers.

“The Frank Bruno that fought Lennox Lewis in Cardiff back in the 90s… that Frank Bruno beats Anthony Joshua,” Froch told the BestOnlinePokerSites YouTube channel.

“I’m sorry but he just does. It’s just all about timing and you can’t hold that against Anthony Joshua.

“I know they call it heavyweight, but it’s very thin now. The landscape of heavyweight boxing. It’s not what it used to be.

“I think if Anthony Joshua loses to Dubois, it could be the last we see of him.”

Froch and Joshua have been embroiled in a bitter feud for several years now.

The pair used to be friends and trained together under Rob McCracken when Joshua was an amateur and Froch was a young pro.

But their relationship turned sour after AJ split with McCracken following his first loss to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021.

Two weeks ago,  Froch leaked messages he exchanged with Joshua after the Watford powerhouse had called him a ‘P***’ in an interview.

During a video on his Froch On Fighting YouTube channel, Froch described an interview Joshua gave at a press event ahead of his upcoming clash with Daniel Dubois: “He was asked, ‘Carl Froch – one word answer.’ And what did he say? He called me a p***k.

“So I went straight back at him like I’d go back at anyone who called me that.”

Froch and Joshua went back and forth over WhatsApp with ‘The Cobra’ later challenging AJ to meet him face-to-face to settle their feud ‘like men’.

“I’ve had a barrage of abuse directed to me, but I don’t mind meeting up and dealing with it like men,” Froch said.

“Because if you’re going to do little backstab jibes and send me messages abusing me.

“And then deleting stuff, and then you don’t pick your phone up when I try to give you a call to have a conversation with you man to man.

“Then what am I going to do? I’m going to expose you for what you are.”

Three-weight world champion, Shakur Stevenson, wants to get back into the ring as soon as possible.

Stevenson was out last weekend when he successfully defended his WBC lightweight title in a comfortable, if not slightly underwhelming, performance against Artem Harutyunyan. Stevenson cruised to victory by unanimous decision with scores of 119-109, 118-110 and 116-112.

Although there is no denying the skill and talent of the 27-year-old, much has been made about his less than entertaining style, which drew boos from the crowd at the final bell.

Stevenson puts the blame on his opponents, claiming they only come to survive and aren’t willing to engage with the American.

However, he thinks there is one fellow 135lber that would bring out the best in him. When asked by Fight Hub TV who he would want to fight if it was up to him, he made it clear that Gervonta Davis would be top of his list.

Stevenson had a very clear message for his lightweight rival.

He may have to wait a little longer for his shot with Top Rank promoter Bob Arum revealing talks are underway for Vasiliy Lomachenko to face Davis next.

The boxing world has strongly condemned Ryan Garcia‘s recent disgraceful conduct. Despite his talent and potential, no amount of excuses can mitigate the damage caused by his disparaging comments.

The sports community has no place for such hateful behavior, and it’s shocking that a young, promising star has reached this point. Just a year ago, Garcia was considered one of the rising stars pushing the boundaries of boxing.

Garcia was already serving a year-long suspension with financial forfeiture due to failing drug tests. Instead of focusing on redemption, he exacerbated his situation with universally offensive remarks.

The WBC swiftly removed him from its membership rolls, signaling that such behavior would not go unpunished. Esteemed sports analyst Stephen A. Smith speculated that there might be underlying reasons for Garcia‘s downward spiral.

The loss that traumatized Garcia

On his show, “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” the renowned NBA analyst suggested that Garcia’s descent might have been triggered by his first professional loss to Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.

The much-anticipated fight took place at the T-Mobile Arena on April 22 last year. Garcia was knocked down in the second round and, despite showing some promise, ultimately succumbed to Davis‘s relentless body shots, going down on his knee.

Stephen A. Smith believes the loss had a profound impact on Garcia. Despite there being no shame in losing to a formidable opponent, Garcia felt deeply humiliated.

“It was a good fight; he got caught and got dropped, got right back up, went back to fight Gervonta Davis, and not only did he do that, but you know you get caught by a body shot that happens,” said Smith.

“I think we’re seeing a brother that’s at the top of the heat in the fight game that’s absolutely box office, and we’d be talking about who he’s going to fight next.

“He does seem mentally warped, and alcohol and drugs are what people are alluding to is involved.”

Unfortunately, Garcia struggled to accept the defeat. Unlike Frank Martin, who handled his loss gracefully, Garcia dishonored his contract for the Haney fight, came in overweight, and tested positive for drugs twice.

There is no doubt that Gervonta Davis is a genius in the ring and that his style merits close reading. However, are we in a position to declare that the boxer from Baltimore has surpassed Terence Crawford as far as performance in the ring is concerned? Well, whether or not you correspond to artist-cum-commentator ShowBizz the Adult’s opinion, linking ‘Tank’ to Floyd Mayweather, he has greatly certified to certain characteristics of Davis he feels exceed ‘Bud’. What are those?

As per ShowBizz the Adult, Davis has the capacity for everything Terence Crawford has displayed in his fights. To elucidate his statement, he referred to Gervonta Davis knocking out Rolly Romero in 2022. Near the end of the sixth round, having somewhat landed a right hook, overconfident Romero decided to push Davis against the ropes. But, with his right leg on the outside, ‘Tank’ caught Romero in a square stance with his left hand while angling out.

So, ShowBizz the Adult said, “Tank’s a better aggressive fighter than Crawford. He has everything Crawford hasHe can box a fighter coming after him.” Then, he alluded to Davis vs. Leo Santa Cruz. This time Davis closed in on the distance. Having pushed Santa Cruz against the ropes, Davis let the former throw his right hand while ‘Tank’ adjusted himself for a left uppercut. Soon, in the blink of an eye, the uppercut landed and Cruz was floored.

On that note, ShowBizz added, “He can go after you and he can just box him. He knocks everybody out just like Crawford.” But there is something better! “Except for I think Gervonta’s chin is slightly better. When Terence Crawford goes out there, he gon’ beat you athletic but there’s a certain poise that Gervonta has that I’m like super special,” continued ShowBizz.

And he has that Floyd Mayweather poise. Where he cannot do much but he’s beating you [mentally]. Gervonta Tank Davis approaches the fight better than anyone in the world,” he confidently concluded. In this context, it is worth mentioning that, in the past, Davis showed interest in fighting ‘Bud.’

Gervonta Davis wanted to hand down ‘Bud’ same fate suffered by Rolly and Santa Cruz

Last year, Gervonta Davis had casually mentioned that if he fought Terence Crawford at 147 lbs, he would hand ‘Bud’ down the same fate he passed to Rolly and Santa Cruz i.e. put him “to sleep” in “round six.” Later, in his response, Crawford said there was no way Davis was moving up to 147 lbs. However, ‘Bud’ did not entirely kill the prospect of a potential fight! “I’d stay at 147 lbs for him; that’s a big money fight,” he told The Breakfast Club.

But nobody’s going give me credit. Tank’s like 5’5,” he’s a little guy,” Crawford had bemoaned. At this, while fans were extremely curious, Davis clarified that he was only joking and did not intend to actually face ‘Bud.’ With that said, do you think concur with ShowBizz on Gervonta Davis being better than Crawford?

Gervonta Davis is widely regarded to be one of the most ferocious fighters active today.

‘Tank’ is something of a wrecking ball who has knocked out 28 of his 30 opponents to date. Most recently that was Frank Martin in defence of his WBA Lightweight World title. Last April, he stopped Ryan Garcia with a savage body shot and has previously knocked out the likes of Leo Santa Cruz and Rolando Romero.

Despite the power the Baltimore boxer carries in both fists and his seemingly unflappable persona, he recently admitted that he got nervous before the fight with Garcia. It was a big pay-per-view showdown that really catapulted both boxers onto the global stage

Davis has long been linked with plenty of other big-name champions in and around his division including the likes of Shakur Stevenson, Devin Haney and Vasily Lomachenko – the most likely next opponent according to both teams.

Should he make a deal with the elite Ukrainian, fans would see a lightweight unification fight with the winner holding both the WBA and IBF straps.
