Ryan Garcia used a Floyd Mayweather staple in his comeback victory over Oscar Duarte but has been warned against doing it in the future.

The Golden Boy star stopped Duarte in eight rounds to put himself in the mix for a world super lightweight title. However, plenty of those involved in the sport caught Garcia attempting the Mayweather trademark shoulder roll.

Garcia’s execution left a lot to be desired. He was then advised to remove it from his repertoire moving forward.

Dougie Fischer, Editor of Ring Magazine, aired his views on the maneuver.

Ryan Garcia’s shoulder roll

“Ryan Garcia looks awkward and uncomfortable at times in the ring, especially when he turns his back to his opponent during close contact, but his speed and power are world-class. Duarte is a rock.

Former world champion Ishe Smith responded: “That’s on point, Dougie, but he needs to lose the shoulder roll altogether.”

Fischer agreed with the notion from “Sugar Shay.”

An exchange then opened up between Garcia and ex-welterweight ruler Shawn Porter. Garcia had accused the DAZN commentary team of bias in a now-deleted groan.

Porter had been drafted to sit alongside the usual broadcast team. “Showtime” decided to fire back at Garcia.

“First off, love big dog. One hundred percent, I call it as I see it,” said Porter. “I’m fair to both boxers in the ring.

Floyd Mayweather

“You fought well, sir, and I’m happy for you. I have never had a flawless performance; I wouldn’t expect one from another boxer. The shoulder roll was [thumbs down]. The movement was [thumbs up].

“My advice is to listen to your coach!”

Garcia replied: “As long as you keep it 100 with everyone else, I have no problem with it. I don’t like how you seemed biased toward me in the fight.”

Again, Porter returned the grenade.

“Man, what are you doin’ watching the fight already? – Bottom line, I’m happy to see that special left hook show up the way it did.

“Boxing wins when you win. My job is to enhance what’s happening in the ring. I thought I contributed to that. If you don’t like it, come and see me on The Porter Way Podcast.”

Finally, Garica added: “I’m down to go on a talk about everything. No hard feelings.”

Floyd Mayweather

Mayweather perfected the movement, having learned it himself as an up-and-coming young buck. He used it expertly to see off challengers in 26 world title fights.

Reaching a landmark 50-0, Floyd Mayweather is one of the greatest fighters of all time. Ryan Garcia has a long way to go.

Boxing champion, Floyd Mayweather, has claimed he witnessed American rapper, Tupac Shakur’s death, as new footage shows moments before his death, Dailymail reports.

According to Dailymail in a post on Thursday, the now-retired boxer, in a footage said to be from 2014, explains how he stayed across the road from where the rapper was gunned down in September 1996.

Tupac was murdered while riding as a passenger in a BMW in Las Vegas when he was struck by four rounds which claimed his life six days later.

Dailymail reports that in the clip, Mayweather says: ‘The car pulled right here and shot Tupac at this light. The car went that way.

‘I was living right here [gesturing across the intersection] in 1996 when Tupac got killed, I ain’t ever told nobody. Only the closest people with me know.’

The death of Tupac has remained a mystery for many years, and investigations have been ongoing for decades without any resolution.

Footage has also recently been released by The Walter J. Brown Media Archives showing Shakur conversing with a crowd on a sidewalk shortly before he was shot.

Carl Froch doubts whether Tyson Fury can train through Christmas and not be tempted by a festive feast.

Fury is preparing to take on Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia on February 17 with the two world champions meeting to crown the first undisputed heavyweight ruler since Lennox Lewis in 1999. The fight had been expected to take place two days before Christmas but Fury demanded it be delayed after he was almost beaten by Francis Ngannou in October.

Fury was knocked down by the former UFC champion and was left with a cut. Usyk ultimately agreed to wait another two months for his chance to win the only heavyweight belt to have eluded him. And Froch has questioned whether Fury has the discipline to train over the festive period.

Tyson’s got to get through Christmas and New Year, not relax, not have a drink, not overeat,” he said on his podcast. “It’s going to be a tough one. He’s got a wonderful family, his wife and seven children, so he’ll want to relax and have a good time. “Is he going to want to be training over Christmas and New Year which he’s going to have to do if he’s ready for the February event? I’m not sure, I think the fight will be pushed back to March. You heard it here first.”

Oleksandr Tyson

Fury, however, has no doubt he will be the first man to inflict defeat on Usyk. “I’m going to bust him up. Sausage. Ugly little man. Rabbit. Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run,” he said. “You know what’s coming? You’re getting smashed to pieces, sausage. You’re fighting the best British heavyweight there’s ever been.

“You’ve beaten the rest of them, but you haven’t beaten Tyson Fury, sausage. “You can never beat me. If you beat me in your dreams you better wake up and apologise. I stole that from Muhammad Ali, I apologise. When you sleep at night ugly man you’re going to think of me for the next eight weeks. I’m going to punch your face in. You ugly little man.

“We’ve both been chosen and there can only be one winner. I’m going to become the undisputed champion. More than that, I’m destined to cement my legacy as the number one fighter of this era. To do that I’ve got to beat this little man, which is easier said than done because he’s a tricky boxer, slick and all of that.

“But I’ve seen many like him before and when they fight the big men, they struggle. And he will struggle on February 17. I will break him. He’s a middleweight, but it’s not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog and he’s obviously got a lot of fight in him. But when you meet a big man who is a lot bigger but also has the fight inside him, let’s put it in a nutshell – you’re f****d.”

Tyson Fury has arrived in Saudi Arabia for his upcoming fight with Oleksandr Usyk. Upon his arrival, ‘The Gypsy King’ received a beautiful car which he later showed off in a short video. Besides enjoying the lovely car, Fury declared his love for Saudi Arabia.

In addition, the WBC Heavyweight champion of the world left a thunderous message for his opponent Oleksandr Usyk in style. Well, here is what Fury is doing in Riyadh ahead of facing Usyk on February 17th.

Tyson Fury is elated to have received a “fast” car ahead of Oleksandr Usyk fight

After Tyson Fury arrived in Riyadh for the Oleksandr Usyk fight scheduled for February 17th, a brand new Lucid car was delivered to ‘The Gypsy King’. While it remains unknown whether or not Fury was gifted the car, ‘The Gypsy King’ was extremely delighted to have received it. Likewise, before addressing his upcoming bout with Usyk, Fury spent a considerable length of time promoting Lucid Motors

Hey, this is Tyson Fury here aka ‘The Gypsy King’, the WBC Heavyweight champion of the world. I just took delivery of my new Lucid car. [The] car is unbelievable. I want to say a massive shoutout to Lucid Cars, EV Cars. I want to say a massive shoutout to the Riyadh season. And a massive shoutout to the Saudi Arabian people,” said Fury who earlier promoted Boxbollen.

Tyson Fury

This lovely car is exceptional. Drives amazing, very very fast. I’m over the moon with my new car. Thank you very much, God bless you,” ‘The Gypsy King added. And before concluding, he reminded the people that he hadn’t yet forgotten all about Usyk.

See you all at the fight on February 17th when I absolutely destroy Oleksandr Usyk and become the Undisputed Heavyweight champion of the world. Right here in Saudi Arabia, the only place to be. 2024 is going to be amazing!” Fury concluded. Hopefully, the love Fury is receiving in Saudi Arabia will not distract him from his goal which is to win against Usyk who claims to occupy Tyson’s head.

Oleksandr Usyk wants to speak with only his fists

While Tyson Fury has spoken with his fancy phrases and fast car, Usyk wishes to answer Tyson only with his fists. Likewise, at the recent press conference, despite Fury’s insults, ‘The Cat’ announced he looked forward to replying to Fury in the ring. “I will speak in the ring,” said Usyk.

I’m already in his head. I’m singing and dancing there in his head,” ‘The Cat told the media and Fury. With that said, what do you think of Fury’s new car? Let us know in the comments.

Victor Ortiz, a seasoned warrior of the ring and a former adversary of Floyd Mayweather, recently unleashed a verbal jab that’s causing ripples far beyond the ropes. In an unexpected twist during an interview with FightHype, Ortiz stepped into a controversial ring, hinting at a startling revelation. His target? The much-discussed potential super-fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

Ortiz, known for his blunt honesty, hinted at a perspective that challenges the established narrative around Alvarez’s stature in the boxing world. With the backdrop of Crawford’s recent triumphs and Alvarez’s dominance in his weight class, Ortiz’s words could redefine how we perceive this awaited clash.

Terence Crawford is taller than Canelo?

As the boxing world eagerly anticipates the potential showdown between Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez, every opinion weighs in like a strategic chess move. The stakes are sky-high: Crawford, fresh off a historic victory over Errol Spence Jr., is eyeing a legendary status by challenging Alvarez, the reigning super middleweight champion.

Enter Victor Ortiz, a figure no stranger to the spotlight. In the interview with Fighthype, he candidly addressed the matchup, sparking intrigue with his bold assessment. “He’s the man right now Victor, what do you tell him?” the interviewer asked, referring to Crawford. Ortiz didn’t hesitate, affirming, “Of course he is man. At this point in time, there’s no one that can mess with him. Hey, Terence T Bud man.”

Canelo Alvarez and Terence Bud Crawford

The conversation then took a sharp turn toward Canelo. “Not even Canelo?” probed the interviewer. Ortiz’s response was as unfiltered as it was unexpected. “You know what, I said this time and time again, and Canelo and them they don’t like me because I speak the truth. I say it like it is man, you’re a dangerous individual and let’s be realistic man. I mean, Canelo’s not a natural 180, 185. He’s our weight class, he’s our height, he’s smaller than us. At the end of the day, I don’t mean to ever bash on anyone but speaking facts apparently gets me in trouble all the time.”

Ortiz’s words are more than mere commentary; they challenge the perceived physical disparity between Crawford and Alvarez. This isn’t just a conversation about fighter statistics. But what makes this fight different from Jermell vs Canelo?

Robert Garcia on Crawford’s chances against Canelo’s size and power

Renowned boxing trainer Robert Garcia recently shared his insights with Fight Hub TV on the potential superfight between Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez. Garcia acknowledged the significant challenge Crawford faces in moving up from 147 to 168 pounds to face Alvarez.

Despite recognizing Alvarez’s clear size and power advantage, Garcia believes Crawford’s heart and fighting spirit would ensure a more competitive bout than many anticipate. “I think Crawford would at least try a little bit more,” Garcia stated, highlighting Crawford’s determination and unwillingness to disappoint. He concluded that while Canelo might be too strong.

Ryan Garcia has finally managed to make a successful return after his loss earlier this year. He fought against Oscar Duarte in a riveting bout at the Toyota Center, Houston last night and achieved a knockout victory over Duarte. Throughout the fight he appeared to be in good form, as he maneuvered around the ring, making it harder for Duarte to land any impactful shots on him.

Interestingly, after his victory, he called out Rollie Romero for a shot at his WBA belt. However, Romero is far from being the only target of ‘KingRy’. It appears that he also has his eyes on Shakur Stevenson, who recently won a fight against Edwin De Los Santos. Garcia criticized Stevenson’s performance along with his promoter Oscar De la Hoya. Here’s what two-division undisputed champion Terence Crawford has to say about the potential fight between Garcia and Stevenson.

Terence Crawford doesn’t believe Ryan Garcia will fight Stevenson

Terence Crawford, a seasoned voice in the boxing world, recently expressed skepticism about the likelihood of Ryan Garcia stepping into the ring with Shakur Stevenson. Despite acknowledging Garcia’s skills, Crawford remarked, “He is not gonna fight Shakur. Ryan, he’s a good kid, but I just don’t see him fighting Shakur.”

Reflecting on Garcia’s recent performance, Crawford commented on the adjustments made during the fight, praising his strategic shifts. “He made some key adjustments in the fight, from standing there in front of dude to moving, picking his shots,” Crawford noted.

While discussing Garcia’s defensive techniques, Crawford shared his reservations about certain moves. “I don’t like him turning like that, I didn’t like that,” Crawford remarked, emphasizing his discerning eye for the sport.

When questioned about a potential matchup between Garcia and Stevenson, Crawford firmly expressed his belief that Garcia wouldn’t entertain such a challenge at this point. “It’s Shakur vs. everybody in the division right now. I don’t think nobody really wanna see Shakur right now in his division,” Crawford asserted. Despite any criticisms directed at Stevenson, Crawford emphasized the reluctance of others to face him in the ring.

Rollie Romero accepts Garcia’s challenge

In the dynamic realm of boxing, Rollie Romero finds himself in the spotlight following a high-profile call-out from Garcia. In a recent interview with Elie Seckbach, Romero claimed, “Anything that involves my name always goes viral; that’s all I can say.”

Even though the rivalry between the two has ignited because of the call-out, Romero is still happy for Garcia. He stated, “I am happy Ryan won, I wanted him to win. ‘Cause I wish no harm on the dude, you know. But I’mma tell [it] like this – You say my name, you’re getting f**ed up.” This comment reflects Romero’s measured response to the call-out and his eagerness to engage in a battle within the ring.

He also claimed, “This fight was supposed to happen long-long ago. I have been calling him out for I don’t know how many years. It’s a massive fight for boxing.” With this, Romero sets the stage for a compelling confrontation between two skilled contenders.

Gervonta Davis has responded to Ryan Garcia ahead of the latter’s next fight.

It’s been a hectic last month for ‘KingRy’, to put it lightly. Garcia has been out of the ring since a knockout loss to ‘Tank’ in April, the first defeat of his boxing career. While that was a tough defeat, he’s clearly been feeling himself lately.

Gervonta Davis

Earlier this week, he ripped his promoters, Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins, to their faces at a press conference while announcing his return. Garcia is famously slated to face the hard-hitting Oscar Duarte in a DAZN headliner later tonight.

However, the former interim lightweight champion has slammed a lot more than Golden Boy Promotions. Earlier this month, Garcia opined that a rematch with Davis was destined to happen, as the latter “needs” him to sell fights.

For what it’s worth, Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia was a massive bout. It reportedly sold 1.2 million pay-per-view buys and earned over $20 million at the local gate. Despite being a big night, it was a loss for Garcia, which he later attributed partially to a rib injury.

However, Davis doesn’t buy that talk. On X, the WBA (Regular) lightweight champion responded, stating that Garcia only has another year or two of boxing left in him.

Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has stated that the British-Nigeria is ready to face Francis Ngannou on December 23.

The Cameroonian-French professional mixed martial artist made his professional boxing debut last Sunday, facing Tyson Fury in a heavyweight showdown in Saudi Arabia.

The ‘Gypsy King’ was spared what would have been one of the biggest upsets of all time after the night ended in a highly unconvincing split decision win over the 37-year-old former UFC heavyweight champion.

Ngannou’s third-round knockdown of Fury, who was lacklustre throughout, sent shock waves around the world.

Hearn disclosed to the BBC that he had been in touch with Ngannou’s representatives, saying “All of a sudden that fight between two giants, they’re carved out of stone, it becomes a massive fight. We’re definitely willing to consider it.”

Even though Ngannou wasn’t able to capitalise and came out on the wrong end of a close split decision, he has the moral victory and is now seen as a legitimate contender at the world level.

Anthony Joshua

Joshua is still in a rebuilding phase of his career after back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022. That left Joshua without any of his belts and has come back with a steady points win over American Jermaine Franklyn in April followed by a seventh-round knockout victory over Robert Helenius in August.

Speaking to Boxing News on Friday, Hearn was asked about whether his former two-time world champion would face Ngannou.

“We’d take that fight on December 23, no problem.”

He then explained Joshua is already looking to fight again before the end of the year.

“We’re looking at that date for Joshua anyway. Maybe I’ll reach out to them and say listen, if you’re looking for an opponent for Francis Ngannou, AJ’s ready, on December 23, no problem at all. I’d like more time promotionally to make that fight what it is, one of the biggest fights out there, but no problem.”

At this point, it would be a fight that generates plenty of interest as Joshua makes his way back into the world title contention.

After thrilling 2023 which saw him lose to Mauricio Lara, outclass the dangerous Mexican in an immediate rematch and then score a stunning come from behind knockout of Josh Warrington, Leigh Wood has vacated his WBA featherweight belt and is on the hunt for biggest names and biggest paydays possible in 2024.

Whilst he takes a well deserved rest and ticks over in the gym, Wood has been working the bags alongside the Ben Davison Performance Centre’s latest recruit. Two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is working with Davison ahead of his fight with Otto Wallin which takes place on the monstrous Day of Reckoning card in Saudi Arabia on December 23rd.

“It’s good to see him doing the things that I once done at the gym and practicing things,” Wood told Secondsout. “Him not quite getting things and then things clicking and then seeing him doing it in sparring. I’m excited to see him fight on December 23rd.”

Fans want to see a return of the aggressive, dominant Joshua who’s first run to the unified heavyweight title culminated in a thrilling victory over Wladimir Klitschko back in 2017. The lengthening list of trainers who have worked with him since Andy Ruiz shockingly stopped him in 2019 have struggled to extract that old aggression out of a more cautious and mature fighter. Joshua himself looks unsure and caught in-between styles, desperate to protect himself and prove himself as a boxer but much more effective when he punches in combination and falls back on the speed and instincts that made him such a force.

Only Joshua knows whether the scars inflicted by that unforgettable stoppage defeat to Ruiz are too deep to ever fully heal but Wood is sure that when Joshua climb through the ropes to fight Wallin, Davison and his team will ensure that he does so with a clear plan of action.

“I can’t say too much but I think in this fight you’ll see AJ being a lot more decisive and that’ll be down to what he’s been doing in the gym and how clear it is what he needs to be doing,” Wood said.

“He knows what he needs to do which will make him a lot more decisive doing it.

“He [Wallin] is tricky. It’s a banana skin really because he can make people look quite bad. He got a good win in his last fight but I think AJ will get a knockout and look good in doing it.”

retired fighter who knows what it takes to become a three-time world champion doubts whether Anthony Joshua has the ability to repeat his feat.

Joshua is about to fight for the third time in a year for the first time since 2016. The contest is out in Saudi Arabia on December 23 against Swede Otto Wallin and, following wins over Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius already, represents AJ’s toughest fight of the year.

Southpaw Wallin pushed Tyson Fury hard and inflicted a huge cut above his eye in their 2019 contest and has since had solid wins over the likes of Murat Gassier and Dominic Breazeale.

Should two-time world champion Joshua come through that test, many are hoping that all roads will then lead to a fight with Deontay Wilder in 2024. A former champion himself, Wilder fights on the same bill against Joseph Parker

Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder

One man who has already secured his legacy by becoming a three-weight world champion is James Toney, who held multiple world championships including the middleweight, super middleweight and cruiserweight titles.

Speaking to ESNEWS, Toney was asked who would win should Joshua and Wilder come to blows.

“Wilder because right now, Joshua, he’s totally shot man. Joshua showed his true stature.”

Toney is likely subscribing to the theory that the Brit’s mindset has change since his loss to Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019, with many fans saying he is now a tentative fighter. The man himself disagrees, claiming he is just a better, smarter boxer.

Should he and Wilder win this month in Riyadh, the a match-up with the hard-hitting American will be the ultimate test of ‘AJ’s fortitude.
