After defeating Franchon Crews-Dezurn in a fight for the undisputed world super-middleweight crown, the new champion Savannah Marshall is ready to go after her executioner, Claressa Shields.

On Saturday night at the Manchester arena, Shields was there to support her former rival and friend, Crews-Dezurn, in what ended up being the Hard Hitting Diva’s second professional loss.

Throughout the fight, Shields yelled directions to Crews-Dezurn to beat Marshall, but nothing was enough. In the end, the judges saw Marshall win by majority decision.

However, Shields would be willing not only to avenge her friend’s loss, but she also revealed that she would like the challenge of moving up the division for a third undisputed crown after she conquered super welterweights and middleweights.

“I think we know what’s next,” said the promoter Ben Shalom speaking of Shields. “I think it has to be at super middleweight. That’s where Savannah is the best fighter in the world, we believe, and that’s where the rematch has to happen.”

Shields and Marshall maintain a rivalry that was born from amateurs and has been maintained over time in the professional ranks. Its highest point came in October 2022 when they faced each other for the undisputed middleweight championship and Shields beat her by unanimous decision.

Could it be that we will see them in the ring again?

Eddie Hearn believes that Terence Crawford would be the underdog in any match-up with Saul Canelo Alvarez.

Alvarez is set to fight Jermell Charlo at 168lbs as he makes his return to the ring after a win over John Ryder in Mexico in May.

Hearn and Alvarez have a long track record of working with one another, and the promoter is not ruling out rekindling the business relationship further down the line.

Speaking to The DAZN Boxing Show, he said: “I’ve long been a fan of Canelo Alvarez, before we even represented him. We’ve had a tremendous run of five or six fights. We made him hundreds of millions of dollars, he made us a lot of money as well. I loved working for him, and I think he enjoyed working with us.

Terence Crawford

“I hope that we get the opportunity to work with him again. On a personal level, I class him as a friend. Classy guy, we talk socially every now and again, but he made the best move for his career. And as friendly as we are, it doesn’t really work like that.”

Hearn was asked about Oscar De La Hoya’s recent comments that he believed undisputed welterweight champion Crawford would beat Alvarez if the two met in the ring, Hearn suggested his former colleague would have too much of a size advantage even if Crawford moved up the divisions.

He continued: “I hope he beats Charlo, if you’re going to ask me about the Terence Crawford question, you’re talking about two of my favourite fighters.

“Two modern-day greats. I do think Canelo Alvarexz is too big for Terence Crawford, as good as Terence Crawford is. In my opinion you will never see Canelo come under 168 in a fight. I don’t think he wants to do that. 168 is still a little bit, not tough, but it’s enough.

“So I don’t think you see Crawford come up to 168 and I think if he does, I don’t think he beats Canelo. So I’m not sure whether that fight happens, but if it does, two great fighters and I’ll favour Alvarez.”

Just last week, Terence Crawford etched his name in history by becoming the inaugural undisputed welterweight boxing champion, securing a commanding TKO triumph over Errol Spence Jr. in the ninth round.

Throughout the bout, Crawford asserted his dominance, flooring Spence three times, including twice in the seventh round.

Amidst this display of supremacy, Crawford took the opportunity to engage in some verbal sparring with undisputed super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo, who was present at the event.

Video footage captured Crawford signaling towards Charlo while taunting him after one of Spence’s knockdowns.

“You can’t f**k with me,” Charlo reportedly said. “You can’t f**k with me, though. I don’t give a f**k.”

Showtime’s ALL ACCESS has provided a more comprehensive perspective on the interaction, offering Charlo‘s viewpoint.

Charlo is set to challenge Canelo Alvarez for the super middleweight titles on September 30 in Las Vegas.

While this impending clash looms, the prospect of a captivating match emerges if Charlo were to defend his 154 titles against Crawford, potentially leading to another monumental contest between undisputed champions.

Floyd Mayweather discovering Gervonta Davis as a future multi-weight champion is a remarkable story in its own right.

Having been involved in a fight of the highest magnitude, the press tour for that super-fight led to a chance meeting with a young fighter.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Mayweather has recalled many times how a meeting with a young boxer in 2013 during his tour with Canelo Alvarez eventually meant a promise fulfilled.

The five-weight world title-holder offered a unique story of how he took Davis under the Mayweather Promotions banner.

Davis, himself now a multi-division ruler, came onto Mayweather’s radar after a photo op six years ago.

At the time, Davis was just a young kid with big dreams. But Mayweather saw something special and made the boy a promise when he became a man.

How Floyd Mayweather met Gervonta Davis

“When [Davis] was a kid, I remember when I was on tour with Canelo. A young kid came up to me and asked for an autograph. To sign his phone and take a picture,” recalled Mayweather.

“Then I saw something special in him when he came to my gym a couple of times. He was undefeated as a pro after a few fights. I said in two years, I can make you a world champion. And we did it.”

On taking Davis to Georgia for events that have turned out to be massive for the state, Mayweather added: “This is great and it’s not just about boxing being in one place.

“It’s about thinking outside the box, so I said, ‘Why not?’ Atlanta is a great place with so many beautiful people. It’s just a great city.

“But it’s all about taking chances and rolling the dice. And it’s the same thing I did in my career: I took chances and rolled the dice.

“There is a lot of great talent that comes out of Atlanta, a lot of great boxing talent,” stated the former pound-for-pound king.

Despite a recent split promotional, Davis and Mayweather remain close. They still lean on each other occasionally after parting company in a business sense.

In addition, Davis has since taken control of his destiny and made waves on Pay Per View, which Mayweather will undoubtedly feel he had a huge hand in.

The next move will be another massive event for Davis, with Mayweather remaining just a phone call away from the once boy who became a man under the former champ’s wing.

Floyd Mayweather has never been a man short of confidence, be it when he was in the ring as a fighter or in pushing the stars of tomorrow as a promoter.

Gervonta Davis is by far and away Mayweather’s most successful protege, though ‘TBE’ believes his latest charge will go just as far as ‘Tank.’

17 year old amateur standout Curmel Moton made his professional debut on Saturday night on the undercard of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alavrez vs Jermell Charlo, dispatching of Ezequiel Flores in less than a round at the T-Mobile Arena.

Speaking to the press after Moton’s impressive showing, Mayweather was not reluctant to compare him to Baltimore puncher Davis.

Mayweather gathered some attention the way of Moton earlier this year, when he claimed the teen would beat WBA featherweight world champion Leigh Wood it the pair were to lock horns in 2023.

Unfortunately for Moton and those backing him, the fight did not take place until after Alvarez vs Charlo due to scheduling issues, meaning it was not televised and the arena had mostly emptied by the time the young virtuoso was in the ring.

Regardless, through clips leaked on social media, it looked to be an encouraging start to a career that is brimming with promise.

After his stunning stoppage win over Ryan Garcia earlier this year, Gervonta Davis ascended to the status of one of the biggest stars in boxing, and speculation has been rife over who the Baltimore puncher will take on next.

His momentum was somewhat stunted after being sentenced for a hit and run offence dating back to November 2020, for which he served a short jail sentence.

‘Tank’ and those around him will no doubt be keen to get his career back up and running as soon as possible, and long time mentor Floyd Mayweather has revealed who he would like to see Davis fight next.

Gervonta Davis

Speaking to The Fight Guys, Mayweather named the polarising WBO world super lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez as who he would like to see lock horns with Davis.

Lopez was recently crowned a two weight world champion following his win over Josh Taylor back in June, and is certainly one of the tougher tests out there for Davis.

However, as seems to be the case with all the match ups boxing fans want, there are a few obstacles that would likely prevent Lopez and ‘Tank’ getting it on any time soon.

Lopez is signed to Bob Arum’s Top Rank and fights on ESPN, whilst Davis is Al Haymon and PBC’s crown jewell, and it is unlikely they would let him fight anywhere other than Showtime.

Davis has also only boxed once at 140lbs back in 2021, and his focus at the minute seems to be on the lightweight division.

Ryan Garcia is back in the ring on Saturday night.

Ryan Garcia returns to action this Saturday night when he faces Oscar Duarte, exclusively live on DAZN.

The Californian star is back in the ring and he’s aiming to get his sole loss out of his system after being stopped by Gervonta Davis earlier this year in what was one of 2023’s biggest boxing events.

Garcia was stopped with a sickening body in the fight’s seventh round, but the defeat hasn’t dampened his confidence and he’s ready to prove himself once again.

If successful against Duarte, Garcia will once again target the sport’s most glamorous names and he’s had his say on how a potential sequel against “Tank” could look.

“I feel I’m the better fighter. I don’t care what anybody says,” said Garcia when appearing on The Last Stand podcast.

“I know I’m the better fighter, and if I get my rematch, I’m gonna beat him. And, you know, regardless of the outcome of the first fight, I know I could come back, and I could beat him.”

Otto Wallin has been speaking ahead of his huge clash with British heavyweight Anthony Joshua.

This fight will be Joshua’s third of the year – a feat he hasn’t managed since 2016. He is still working his way back to the top after back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022 that left him without any of his three world titles.

In 2023 he has beaten Jermaine Franklin over 12 rounds on points and Robert Helenius by knockout.

Wallin is a Swedish southpaw most well-known for pushing Fury hard over 12 rounds back in 2019, including inflicting a huge cut above his eye. He has since secured solid wins over Murat Gassiev and Dominic Breazeale.

The pair will come head to head on December 23 on a huge card in Saudi Arabia and, in the lead-up to that, Wallin spoke to VegasInsider about the fight’s rematch clause.

He did admit it was a calculated risk, however.

Joshua is currently settling in with a new coach for this fight – Ben Davison will be his fourth trainer in five fights, which Wallin has said is a big mistake. It’s understood that ‘AJ’ intends to return to Derrick James thereafter.

Once Terence Crawford took out Errol Spence Jr., the obvious suspects emerged as his possible next opponent.

Jaron Ennis was recently elevated from interim champ to full titlist, making him a viable option. Tim Tszyu was another fighter whose name held weight. Even Jermell Charlo and Gervonta Davis were thrown around as likely options.

Each man brought something intriguing to the table. In the case of Ennis, Crawford could knock off an immensely talented young fighter whose perpetual trash talk and skills have gained him a ton of buzz. Tim Tszyu continues to run over the junior middleweight competition and has a 154-pound title to bring to the table. Charlo’s three junior middleweight titles have caught Crawford’s attention, despite being thoroughly outworked in his last outing. Davis doesn’t have the size of those who were previously named but carries enough clout and popularity to lure Crawford into the ring.

Although they were all deemed worthy, Crawford’s preferred choice is Canelo Alvarez, the super middleweight kingpin.

At one point, even Crawford admitted that he never dreamed of facing someone that much more naturally bigger than he is. With that said, the pound-for-pound star warmed up to the idea.

From the outside looking in, Crawford’s all-time great status won’t help him against someone three weight classes above him. Everyone on team Crawford, including Bomac, however, doesn’t view Alvarez as some perfect fighter unable to be touched.

To a large extent, Bomac has watched Alvarez from the shadows. He saw the Mexican star come up short against Floyd Mayweather several years ago. He saw him pick up a draw against Gennadiy Golovkin. He saw him lose a decision against Dmitry Bivol. He also sat back and witnessed him achieve a Hall of Fame level career.

With all the intel he’s gathered over the years, Bomac is confident that Crawford can capitalize on his mistakes.

“He’ll beat him,” Bomac told Sean Zittel of FightHype.com. “He got holes in his game.”

Teofimo Lopez has held a stellar boxing record. With 19 wins, 13 of them being knockouts, and only 1 loss. He is easily one of the most recognizable athletes of our time. It came as a surprise to fans all around the world when the Takeover announced his retirement from professional boxing only at the age of 25 right after beating Josh Taylor and winning the title.

America’s Favorite Video Today

Since the announcement of his retirement, he has made it clear on multiple instances that he will return to the ring if the money is good enough. Meanwhile, a new beef between him and Shakur Stevenson is now making the news.

Teofimo Lopez throws shade at Shakur Stevenson

Lopez, on the Porter Way podcast, said, “I don’t know do you guys still want a $4 Million dollar man put your a** to sleep?”, taking a dig at Stevenson and calling his fights boring. This caught ‘Sugar’ off-guard and had him questioning Teofimo’s nature, “These dudes so shiest in yo face one min they like yo man’s and sh*t but talk crazy bout u to the next”. The two then went on a brawl on Twitter with immense tension. Amidst this chaos, Lopez did not hesitate to bring the undefeated, Floyd Mayweather into the brawl.

Floyd Mayweather

This came as a response to Stevenson stating how no one wanted to fight him and it was him against the world.  During the beef, Shakur also dragged in Kambosos, calling him a “bum.” while reminding Lopez that he had lost to him. He used a clip of Floyd Mayweather saying “It’s okay to be number two, it’s okay to be right behind me. It’s okay”. Lopez did not hold back, calling him a No.2 and how he is still right behind him.

Lopez expressed on the Porter Way Podcast that he’d consider a return to boxing if offered a “nine-figure contract,” highlighting his frustration with his current $1 million per fight earnings despite generating over $100 million for ESPN. He emphasized feeling undervalued compared to other fighters with lesser achievements receiving higher payouts, deeming himself the industry’s “black sheep.”

Despite the escalating tension, there isn’t a doubt that both of them are very skilled fighters who bring many skill sets to the table. While there is no official news about a fight between Lopez against Stevenson yet, the attention it is getting through social media will be hard to ignore for both fighters. Teofimo denied a fight against Ryan Garcia in February calling the $1.5 Million dollar pay insulting.

As the tensions rise, will Shakur then, be the one to bring Lopez back from his retirement? Stay tuned to find out
