In boxing, words can be as sharp as punches. Ahead of their impending clash, Shakur Stevenson and Edwin De Los Santos have stirred intrigue. The pair are slated to battle for the vacant WBC lightweight title. This highly anticipated showdown is set for Thursday at the renowned T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas. Stevenson, with an unblemished 20-0 record, faces De Los Santos, a formidable 16-1 contender.

Tensions escalated during a recent FightHype.com interview. De Los Santos made a bold comparison, placing Stevenson below Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis. But Stevenson’s response was unexpectedly calm, almost dismissive. His words? A blend of confidence and strategy, revealing nothing yet implying much.

Did Edwin make Shakur Stevenson angry?

Before the upcoming fight, every word and statement carries weight. As a recent interview progressed, the conversation inevitably turned to the comments made by Edwin De Los Santos. The Dominican fighter had previously stirred the pot by ranking Stevenson below contemporaries Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis. This comparison was not just a casual remark but a strategic move in the mental game of boxing.

Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis is known for his incredible punch power, but resurfaced claims from a rival’s team say he was stopped himself during a sparring session.

Doghouse rules – commonly used in the Mayweather Gym – is a sparring session with no breaks or rounds, just two fighters going at it until one stops the other, or concedes.

It’s that sort of brutal training that Devin Haney’s father, Bill, claims saw his son beat ‘Tank.’ In a post shared on X, the 44-year-old told the story.

The clip then cuts to former world champion Adrien Broner saying ‘Devin got the best of him’ – him being Davis in context.

Whether the claims surround Davis simply stopping the session or being hurt isn’t revealed, but the latter would be impressive given Haney has just a 50% knockout ratio.

It didn’t take long for ‘Tank’ to respond, who said Haney had enough trouble hurting his opponents with smaller gloves. His post was later deleted.

As interesting as notes from sparring can be, fans would like to see any claims put to the rest in a professional ring.

‘Tank’ is expected to move for Haney’s lightweight titles now that he has moved up to challenge at 140lbs, but he still hold three of the four 135 belts as of writing.

Anthony Joshua has agreed to fight Otto Wallin in Saudi Arabia on December 23 with Deontay Wilder set to face off with Joseph Parker on the same night.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk were set to meet in their historic undisputed heavyweight title fight on that date in Riyadh.

However, the ‘The Gypsy King’s bruising night at the office against Francis Ngannou in October has seen that date pushed back to February.

Boxing officials in Saudi have decided the show will go on and are in the process of assembling a huge night of boxing for that night just before Christmas.

Both Joshua and Wilder are working to finish deals with Turki Alalshikh of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, the man most responsible for bringing Fury and Ngannou together last month.

While the plan is for the heavyweight rivals to face each other in 2024, the December card will have them in action in separate fights.

Should those deals be finalised this week, two-time heavyweight champion Joshua will take on Wallin in the main event. The Swedish southpaw has won 26 of his 28 professional fights with his only blemish coming against Fury in 2019.

Deontay Wilder And Anthony Joshua's

Wallin turned in an impressive display that night, opening a large cut above Fury’s eye with a well-timed right hand before falling to a decision defeat.

Wilder meanwhile would take on former WBO champion Parker in the co-main event. The American has fought just one round of boxing in two years, knocking out Robert Helenius inside three minutes in October last year, his first and only fight since his trilogy defeat to Fury.

Parker meanwhile has rattled off three victories in 2023, part of the Fury vs Ngannou undercard last month where he knocked out Simon Kean in three rounds.

Talks are also underway for British heavyweight Daniel Dubois to join the card. A deal for the Londoner, who fell short in his world title fight against Usyk in August, to fight Jarell Miller is currently in the works.

Miller infamously failed a string of drug tests that saw his 2019 showdown with Joshua scrapped.

Other heavyweight fighters who could be involved in the card are Filip Hrgovic, Arslanbek Makhmudov, Frank Sanchez and Junior Fa. Light-heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol, who is still to fight in 2023 is expected to be involved, as could cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia.

Former world champion Evander Holyfield is giving Oleksandr Usyk a good shot at shocking Tyson Fury and walking away with the undisputed heavyweight crown.

Like Holyfield, Usyk became the undisputed world champion at cruiserweight and later moved up to the heavyweight division.

Holyfield became the undisputed champion at cruiserweight and heavyweight – in the three belt era.

Usyk accomplished his cruiserweight feat in the four belt era – and aims to topple Fury to mirror the same accomplishment one division north.

Oleksandr Tyson

Fury-Usyk is targeted to take place on a date in February of 2024 in Saudi Arabia.

Fury enters the ring with a significant advantage in size and reach, but Usyk is certainly the faster fighter and some may argue the better boxer.

“It should be a great fight and hand speed will be crucial. Who can get off the most punches. Usyk has got a lot going for him and he is left handed,” Holyfield told the WBC.

“Fury has done so well so many times and styles make fights. When a person who fights a big man, is quicker and can take big shots you can win. Yet if you get hit it may be over. Life is about not quitting. I truly believe Usyk has that no quit mentality, so he is going to be in there. A fine balance for this one.

Shakur Stevenson may soon land a job as president of the Terence Crawford fan club.

‘Sugar’ recently ranked his countryman as the world’s top boxer after himself, and has now backed Crawford to challenge Canelo Alvarez.

Crawford v Alvarez has been mooted as a potential future fight with ‘Bud’ rated as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

For that mega fight to happen, Crawford would have to move up three weight classes and 21 pounds, putting him at a huge disadvantage.

Stevenson doesn’t see it that way, though, as he told the media at an open workout.

“Canelo’s gonna feel his punch just as much as Bud feels Canelo’s punch, Bud is strong as s***,” the 26-year-old said before explaining his point.

“I’m gonna tell you all this story. I said it before, but I’m going to say it again,” he continued.

“I was in the gym. I wanna say I was getting ready for Chris Diaz or something, and he was sparring like a heavyweight fighter. I’m looking. I’m nervous for him. I’m like, ‘Why is he in the ring with this big, old dude?’

“And man, I swear he caught this dude on his chin. Boom! Dude wobbling all around the ring. I’m like, ‘What the f***? How is this dude this strong?’

Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez

“But it’s like, honestly, Bud is very strong. People don’t realise how strong he is as a fighter and his punching power could carry through the weight classes.

“I think he’ll out-box Canelo. I think Canelo is a hell of a fighter. I don’t take nothing away from him, but I just think Bud is a better boxer.”

Despite Stevenson’s backing, it doesn’t look like Crawford v Canelo is in the pipeline, with the Mexican recently dismissing the idea in October

“You know, I always say if the fight makes sense, why not? But he’s not in the plan,” he said.

“Like I said, if it makes sense, maybe. I don’t know right now. I’m just going to enjoy this fight. Then you’re going to know what’s next for sure.”

Jaron Ennis isn’t the type of fighter that will turn down a fight. If a name is presented to him, he’ll simply ask for a fight date, then proceed to sign his name on the dotted line. The same, however, can’t be said for his peers.

Finding a willing opponent has been arduous as of late. With the 26-year-old giving countless fighters a dirt nap, the rest of the welterweight division has taken notice. And, unless team Ennis hands over a large sum of cash, some have been reluctant about jumping in the ring with him.

Taking on nondescript opponents wasn’t his first choice but Ennis knows that ring rust is very much a real thing. 2023 has been much of the same. The smooth switch-hitter started off by pitching a shutout against Karen Chukhadzhian. A few months later, he ruthlessly destroyed Roiman Villa.

Neither were popular but it allowed Ennis to bank a few rounds and more importantly, an interim title.

That red and gold trinket sat perfectly on his mantle but Ennis didn’t view it solely as some great achievement. Instead, he considered it a bargaining chip, something that would force the hand of Terence Crawford, the division’s now former, undisputed champion.

Crawford though, shrugged his shoulders and apathetically went in another direction, leading to him being stripped. Ennis, subsequently, was elevated to full champion.

It wasn’t how Ennis envisioned his first title reign, but he’ll take what he can get. Now, he believes he’s in a position of power. No longer is he willing to be docile in the negotiating room. Promoters and managers beware, if a fighter under your umbrella doesn’t bring some sort of name value to the table, Ennis will most likely ignore you.

“I wanna fight the best,” Ennis told YSM Sports Media. “I don’t wanna fight no mediocre competition. I wanna fight great guys, people with names.”

“Definitely.”

Terence Crawford’s trainer Brain McIntyre is not pleased with how his fighter has been treated by the IBF.

Earlier this year, Crawford beat Errol Spence Jr by ninth round knockout to win the undisputed welterweight world titles.

After this fight, the IBF ordered Crawford to face his mandatory challenger, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.

Crawford’s team informed the IBF that this would not be possible as they are tied into a rematch clause with Spence.

As such, the IBF stripped Crawford of his title and upgraded Ennis from ‘interim’ champion to full world champion.

And this is not the first time Crawford has dealt with this situation, as he was stripped of his IBF world title just days after becoming undisputed super lightweight champion in 2017 for the same reason

“It’s kinda biased how they treat Terence, kinda f***ed up and s***,” McIntyre said in an interview with Fight Hype.

Terence Crawford

“But, we accomplished what we needed to accomplish, we got that undisputed title.

“At 147lbs he’s been supreme, they can’t take that away from him.

“They can take everything else, but they can’t take that – that’s history being made.”

As for a potential future fight with newly crowned IBF welterweight champion Ennis, who Floyd Mayweather has previously described as a ‘problem’ and a ‘helluva fighter’, McIntyre said: “He don’t bring nothing to the table.

“Terence is at the stage now where he can pick and choose.

“If he doesn’t wanna fight Boots because he doesn’t bring anything to the table, I’m gonna ride with it.”

Claressa Shields is coming off strong after a spectacular unanimous victory against Maricela Cornejo. After putting down Savannah Marshall, she has again proved why calling herself the ‘GWOAT’ is not really an exaggeration. Although, many thought the Marshall rematch to be a viable choice for Shields, ‘T-Rex’ doesn’t want to do another fighter in the United Kingdom. From the commercial perspective, Shields vs. Marshall 2 would be a bigger fight in the UK than it would be in the US.

So, Shields is starting to turn her attention towards the rising 168 star, Shadasia Green. For some time now, Shields and Green have been going back and forth, and after Cornejo, the world wants the Undisputed Champion in the Middleweight division to prove her might next against Green. Recently, she even slapped back at Green’s harsh statements.

Claressa Shields responds to Shadasia Green on social media

Shields was in attendance at the enthralling Heavyweight event between Anthony Joshua and Robert Helenius. In an interview at the fight, she talked about how she’s ready for any challenge that will be thrown at her. She stated she was ready to fight Savannah Marshall and would also be fine with going against Shadasia Green.

Well, Green watched the interview, and instantly talked about the Michigan native on the X. She wrote, “We shall all bow down to her! We must not respond or else we are hating. I was too busy enjoying myself yesterday to catch this but let me grab my brush.

After this, Shields also said that she’s only giving a chance to Green because she’s blatantly claimed that she can easily beat her in a boxing fight. A month ago, she had talked about the prospects of their fight together. Well, as per the demeanor of Shields, it’s quite obvious that she doesn’t consider Green to be a worthy opponent against her. This is quite apparent from her past statements as well.

Shields wasn’t impressed with Shadasia Green’s recent performance

On August 5th, the day when Jake Paul went against Nate Diaz, on their undercard, Shadasia Green also flaunted her boxing prowess. Green showcased her immense ability to fight technically against Olivia Curry, as she grabbed the unanimous victory against an Iowa-born orthodox boxer. Although many fans were satisfied with the performance of ‘The Sweet Terminator’, one person wasn’t really impressed.

Claressa Shields shared that she believed Green doesn’t deserve a chance against her after her laid-back movement against Curry. She said, “So y’all want me to go handle Shadasia at 168, y’all said! That performance I seen tonight was so low tier! But if the fans want it, I’ll take her! Beat her, too!

Well, the fans definitely want this to happen, and Shields is known to never back down from a fight. So, she seems ready to take the challenge against Green, and the build-up has already begun, especially after their online to-and-fro.

How about Wilder vs Usyk(can that fight happen)?” Deontay Wilder: “Usyk don’t want it. I tried many times. We were supposed to fight like 3 times. The world don’t know this, but the business of boxing does. I understand why guys don’t want to risk fighting me because I have the… Mostrar más

Tyson holds the World Boxing Council (WBC) title but he is also challenging the ‘Gipsy King’, taking advantage of the doubts he left after his fight against Francis Ngannou, who, out of nowhere was about to take away his unbeaten record.

In an exhibition fight held in Riyadh, Ngannou introduced himself in professional boxing with a solid exhibition that pushed the world champion to the limit and was defined with a controversial split decision in favor of the English champion.

This fight was already organized with a contract between Usyk and Fury to face each other in 2024, after it was originally scheduled for December 23 of this year, but the punishment that Fury received against the Cameroonian, caused the fight to be postponed. However, Usyk has already stated that he believes the long-awaited fight will happen once the bell rings.

Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury

But he also raised the level of the challenge, noting that he expects Fury to take the fight seriously, as he said he underestimated Ngannou: I think Fury underestimated Francis Ngannou, but it will be different with me. I think he’ll draw some conclusions after their last meeting. But again, I don’t care at all how he will behave, what matters to me is how I will behave.

He added: “Ngannou did a good job and showed a good level in the ring. Very few people believed in Ngannou. Even when I was asked about him, I answered that it wasn’t good enough.

Undisputed champion in two different divisions?

Usyk wants this fight against Fury because he aspires to become the undisputed champion in two different divisions. He was the undisputed cruiserweight champion and moved up to heavyweight in 2019, becoming the unified champion in 2021 after winning a unanimous decision over Britain’s Anthony Joshua.

However, Fury is a big challenge for Usyk because there is a big difference in weight and reach in favor of the Brit:

Fury is big, complicated, strong, I’m a little bit smaller, but I have incredible motivation and I’m hungry for boxing. I’m not motivated by money, I don’t care about material things, I care about my path. I worked for this for 20 years. And I think in February we will hear the bell,” said Usyk.

In the unpredictable world of boxing, where a single punch can shift fortunes, preferences among fans and experts are often diverse and fervent. Enter Jonathan Male Jordao, an internet coach and former athlete, whose insights carry weight in the boxing community. His recent conversation with ESNews brought forth an unexpected favorite in the ring: Gervonta Davis. Why Davis, you might wonder? Jordao’s reasoning isn’t just about skill or records.

But there’s more to Jordao’s admiration than meets the eye. His endorsement of Davis isn’t just about boxing prowess; it delves deeper into the essence of what makes a fighter truly captivating.
How Gervonta Davis captivated the internet’s top boxing coach

In the high-stakes arena of professional boxing, Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis stands out not just for his undefeated record, but for his electrifying style inside the ring. This very aspect caught the attention of Jonathan Male Jordao, the popular internet boxing coach. In a recent interview with ESNews, he candidly expressed his admiration for Davis.

The interviewer’s straightforward question, “Who’s your favorite fighter right now?” received an immediate response from Jordao: “Gervonta Davis.” This choice wasn’t a mere preference. It was a testament to Davis’s unique approach in the ring. Jordao elaborated, “He is unpredictable. Suddenly he could get punched or something but something crazy happens and he knocks out the guy.”

This unpredictability was vividly showcased in Davis’s fight against Ryan Garcia. In a bout where every punch was a potential game-changer, Davis’s striking prowess turned the tide. He floored Garcia with a fierce bodyshot. a moment that epitomized the ‘crazy’ Jordao referred to.

Further delving into Davis’s boxing persona, the interviewer asked, “Is Tank the face of boxing?” Jordao responded with a measured yet optimistic view, “He could be the face of boxing.” This statement resonated deeply, especially considering Davis’s recent proclamation of being the face of the sport.

Jordao’s endorsement adds significant credence to Davis’s claim. His insight, coming from a background of both a sportsman and a coach, offers a compelling perspective on Davis’s standing in the boxing world.

Manny Pacquiao’s bold challenge

Garvonta Davis

The boxing world buzzed with excitement following Manny Pacquiao’s recent remarks about Gervonta Davis. Pacquiao, a legend in his own right, acknowledged Davis as “a good fighter” during an interview. The conversation then veered into thrilling territory with Pacquiao issuing a direct challenge to Davis. He proposed a potential showdown, suggesting that if Davis moved up to 147lbs, they could face off, even considering a compromise at 145lbs.

Pacquiao’s confidence was palpable. Declaring his readiness for such a match as he confidently stated, “That’s not a problem for me. I am an experienced fighter.”

This bold call-out by Pacquiao, and his willingness to meet Davis in the ring, ignited Twitter, with fans acknowledging it as a testament to Davis’s growing prominence in the boxing world.
