Francis Ngannou is a heavyweight in demand following his showing against Tyson Fury, and may have just landed himself a bout with Anthony Joshua.

The 37-year-old former UFC champion was given little to no chance in the crossover bout, but flipped the script and knocked Fury down on the way to a split decision loss.

Now he has been approached by the teams of both Joshua and Deontay Wilder for his second pro bout.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, former super-middleweight world champion Carl Froch said that a match-up with ‘AJ’ was ‘interesting,’ but that neither man is ready for it.

As for a prediction, Froch backed his countryman to get the win.

Despite further analysis leading him to call it much closer, he stuck by his pick of a Joshua victory.

Neither man has their next fight set in stone, and plenty of moving parts on the heavyweight scene could just see this take place sooner rather than later.

Andy Ruiz Jr. will finish 2023 without a fight, but the former unified heavyweight champion has a big appetite for a bounceback 2024 campaign.

Ruiz (35-2, 22 KOs) last graced the ring in September 2022 and scored a unanimous decision victory against Luis Ortiz.

In order to remain a top contender in the division and work his way up for a shot at another title, the 34-year-old Ruiz is looking to duke it out with other top uncrowned contemporaries.

One such fighter is Zhilei Zhang, the 40-year-old Chinese star who convincingly stopped Joe Joyce in April in six rounds and again in September inside three rounds.

“I think Zhang did an awesome job. Joe Joyce is like a robot. He just throws punches and doesn’t even move,” Ruiz told BoxingScene.com and other media in an interview. “I think Zhang is a really good fighter. That’s a good fight that I’ll take too.”

Ruiz remembered facing Zhang in the Olympics trials in Beijing before turning professional in 2009 – Zhang is a 2008 Olympics silver medalist.

“I lost a decision. I think I did really well, but they gave the fight to him,” said Ruiz.

If Ruiz can’t challenge Zhang, he wants to face Deontay Wilder as well as Anthony Joshua in a trilogy match.

Ruiz shocked Joshua in 2019 via stoppage to score the titles but lost a rematch against the Brit later in the year.

“When I fought in the rematch, I wasn’t good. I was overweight. I forgot everything that I was doing. Now it’s a whole different ball game. All I want to do is just show my talent and everyone is going to know who the heck is Andy Ruiz Jr. … Of course, I’ll go over there [in the United Kingdom to fight Joshua].

“I don’t think they want the fight. I think [Matchroom Boxing head] Eddie Hearn is already traumatized. He doesn’t even want to fight [Joshua] with anyone good. Unless he’s just trying to get his money.

One fight that Ruiz is not looking forward to, however, is a contest with former heavyweight titlist Charles Martin.

“He tried to call me out saying, ‘I want to fight that fat boy.’ But c’mon man. I can’t go backward. I beat the guy [Joshua] that beat him. So there’s no point,” said Ruiz. “I need to get somebody else. Somebody that will be good for me. I beat his ass in sparring with one hand when I was hurt.”

Promoter Frank Warren doesn’t get why there is so much uproar over the fact that Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk won’t be meeting on Dec. 23 for the undisputed heavyweight championship.

The head of Queensberry Promotions believes it is only fair to Fury that he is afforded a few more months of rest after his tougher-than-expected tussle with former UFC champion Francis Ngannou last Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Fury overcame a third round knockdown to scrape by with a razor close split decision win after 10 rounds.

Leading up to the fight there were reports that organizers for Usyk vs. Fury were aiming to stage that fight on Dec. 23 and Fury himself, during fight week, confirmed as much.

But after the Ngannou fight, both Fury and Warren made it clear that the fight would not happen until early next year. It has been reported that the fight will now take place in February.

In a recent interview, Warren outlined the various reasons why it would not be prudent for Fury to return to the ring so quickly.

“He’s not going to be ready on the 23rd,” Warren told SecondsOut.com. “It’s not that he’s too hurt. Listen, he’s been in a camp for 12 weeks leading up to the fight. He’s a professional boxer at the highest level. He fought a guy who was an unknown quantity who actually turned out to be a real good competitor.

“More importantly he’s had a child born in that period of time, a new son, has spent no time with him, and had it been what the so-called opinion was, that it would be over in one or two rounds, the 23rd I think would’ve happened but it didn’t. It was a harder than usual night for him and he needs to go and let his body rest up from that camp.

“He needs to let his body recuperate and get back into his camp. So the fight gets postponed for two months. It’s not a big deal.”

Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury

Warren said that he feels disgruntled boxing fans need to grip, saying that as far as big fights go, Usyk vs. Fury got made more quickly than ones in the past.

“You know what, Usyk fought last August against AJ. Our team, Tyson, signed to do that fight in December. But it’s on in less than 18 months, unification for four belts. Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson took 10 years to happen. Lennox never fought Riddick Bowe. Pacquiao-Mayweather, how long did that take?

“So stop with all the nonsense and all the haters out there. Go and look at the history of these types of fights and how long they take to happen. This is happening, it’s signed. It will happen, it’s going to be exciting.”

Canelo Alvarez wants to pump the breaks on Terence Crawford and his resume.

Earlier this summer, ‘Bud’ made history against Errol Spence Jr. In their Showtime pay-per-view main event, he dominated ‘The Truth’ winning by ninth-round stoppage. With the victory, he became the first undisputed welterweight champion in the four-belt era.

Furthermore, he also became the first male boxer to become undisputed in a second weight class. In the weeks since his win, Crawford has made it clear that he’s not done there. He’s already set his sights on the winner of Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo, slated for later this month.

For his part, the Mexican boxer discussed the potential bout in a recent interview with TMZ Sports. There, Canelo Alvarez paid respect to Terence Crawford, praising him for his recent win. However, he also took a bit of aim at his resume.

In the super-middleweight champion’s eyes, that win over Spence Jr. is one of only a few major ones for Crawford. In the interview, Alvarez opined:

Oscar De La Hoya fought the best fighters of his generation, but no one hit him harder than Ike Quartey.

The American admitted this despite the fact he has shared the ring with all-time greats Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao, and he was knocked out by Bernard Hopkins.

But, when asked who was the best puncher he faced in his career, De La Hoya named Quartey whom he clashed with in 1999.

“His punches were like bricks,” De La Hoya told The Ring.

Floyd Mayweather

“He hit me and it would sting me. Every punch he would hit me with, it would rattle me.”

De La Hoya also admitted Quartey had the best jab of anyone he had faced, saying: “Not only was it powerful, it was very consistent.”

Their fight was a back and forth affair, as Quartey had De La Hoya down in the third round with a pair of thunderous left hooks.

‘The Golden Boy’ rallied, however, and returned the favour putting Quartey down in round six, but De La Hoya found himself on the canvas once again moments later.

In the final round of the fight, De La Hoya dropped Quartey for a second time and almost got him out of there, but ‘The Bazooka’ survived to the final bell.

As the judges’ scorecards were read out, De La Hoya was handed the win via split decision to defend his WBC welterweight world title.

Floyd Mayweather Jr is not just any boxer. He is the richest boxer of all time. It is reported that ‘TBE,’ has a net worth of $1.3 Billion. And guess what? He sure knows how to spend it. If you follow his social media accounts, you know he loves to showcase his luxurious possessions. After all, there is a reason why he changed his nickname from ‘Pretty Boy’ to ‘Money.’ In a recent post, he appears to showcase his downtime on a yacht.

However, there is more to it than meets the eye. Only recently the retired boxer suffered a $10,000 loss. But why did he incur this loss? Let’s wait no further and find out why.

Mayweather unfazed by losing $10,000

If you know Mayweather, you know he is a betting man. And as the name of the game goes, You win some, you lose some.’ He does not confine himself to betting on boxing matches but on sports across the board. Recently, he spent $10,000 on Phoenix Suns, a basketball team to win against San Antonio Spurs. However, unfortunately for him, he lost and also lost his betting money in the process.

But would Mayweather be fazed by losing a measly $10,000? Absolutely not. In a recent Instagram story, he appears to be having a good time on his yacht during an evening. In the clip, he also gave a brief tour of his yacht which is parked at a dockyard next to a pub. Needless to say, his yacht looked extravagant and a vessel that only a man of his wealth could afford.

Floyd Mayweather

It is fair to say that Mayweather lives up to his nickname. It is seldom to see an athlete, years after his retirement, live the same lifestyle as he did when he was competing. But that is Mayweather for you, an exception amongst exceptions. TBE would not have gotten to the pinnacle without his self-belief.

Mayweather on the importance of self-belief

Throughout his career span, Mayweather was subject to criticism and flak. However, he made it a point to not succumb to it and focus on his training. But this would not have happened had he not got faith in himself. In an interview, reflecting on the same, he stated, “That’s really the main thing you got to believe and you really got to stay focused at whatever you want to do in life.”

It is due to this mindset, that Mayweather is a source of inspiration for so many around the world. At this point, he has achieved it all. Fame. Prestige. Money. So we ask you, has he been a source of inspiration for you? Share with us your thoughts and opinions in the comments below.

It’s what every boxer fears most.

It’s not a knockout punch. It’s not a defeat. It’s not a broken bone. It most likely is not even losing a world title. Every boxer fears the low blow more than anything – and Amir Khan took one from Terence Crawford, one of the deadliest and most brutal knockout artists in the sport’s history.

In 2019, Khan lost to the still unbeaten American after he was caught with a stomach churning low blow. Despite being afforded a full five minutes to recover, his trainer ended the contest in the sixth round, affording Crawford a TKO victory.

Khan was peppered with criticism, despite taking a stiff left hand to the groin. To put this into perspective, Crawford currently commands a 40-0 record with 31 TKO victories. The Brit took one of his most ferocious punches directly in the zone all men fear most.

If you are one of those with the gumption to criticise the former unified lightweight world champion, have a read of his description of the pain and the condition of his special place.

“You know when I met him, he even said to me: ‘you were tough enough to stand back up after that,’ because he knew,” Khan said in an exclusive interview with Daily Star Sport, while speaking on behalf of Wow Hydrate. “Obviously, we’ve become friends after that.

Not many fans, fighters or pundits gave Francis Ngannou much of a shot when he announced his pro boxing debut would be against undefeated two-time heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

In fact, the general narrative was that Fury could end the bout as and when he pleased.

Eddie Hearn, Devin Haney and Terence Crawford all gave the former UFC champ no hope of springing the upset, with Crawford in particular saying he had ‘zero’ chance.

Ngannou not only made it the ten-round distance and boxed impressively, but he knocked Fury down in the third round. He left the ring as moral victor, but missed out on the official win via a split decision in favour of the Brit.

Tyson Fury and Francis Nnanganou

He has since mocked the three predictions mentioned above.

‘Bud’ Crawford – undisputed at welterweight and widely considered as the best fighter in the world – has now shared his verdict on social media, saying that his prediction was right but giving brief props to Ngannou.

Ngannou now finds himself a man in demand on the heavyweight scene. He has been called out by Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora just one week on from the fight.

With an MMA contract with the Professional Fighters League already signed, there’s a chance that he may not stick around the squared circle straightaway, but there’s no doubt he’ll be back.

The 37-year-old has made clear that the fight atop his own wish-list is a rematch with Tyson Fury.

It would be tough for some to fathom. The pound-for-pound best boxer in the world, a technical wizard, is equally adept at wrestling. Recently, a few videos of Terence Crawford dabbling in carefree wrestling jaunts stunned scores of fans and followers. The undefeated champion created history this year. He defeated long-time rival Errol Spence Jr. on July 29, becoming the first male two-division undisputed champion.

He comes from a family of wrestlers. His grandfather, father, and uncles were all involved with the sport. As it appears, continuing with the family’s tradition, his sons too seem to have taken to the game of grappling. The proud father that he is, Terence Crawford couldn’t help but take everyone through his moment of happiness. He shared the good news of his sons’ recent success in wrestling with the world.

Terence Crawford, pleased as punch!

Taking to his Instagram stories, the Welterweight champion first shared a short clip showing the venue where the tournament took place. Then the following stories had photographs of his sons, both standing with their mementos and medals, the first one had Terence Crawford Jr. It’s not clear whether the second picture had T. Bud Crawford or Tyrese Crawford standing. Congratulating his son, ‘Bud’ wrote, “Number two, good job, son.

Terence

A few months ago, clips of Terence Crawford displaying peerless wrestling skills gained considerable traction on social media. In August, @parrypunch shared clips of the boxing champion grappling with a member of Kazakhstan’s national wrestling team. Though the video is almost a year old, the Instagram post garnered over sixty thousand likes. The message read, “The grappling skills of undisputed Welterweight Champion Terence Crawford are on point.

As far as the squared circle is concerned, it’s still not clear against whom Terence Crawford would be going up next.

‘Bud’ at the Crossroads

Soon after the big fight with Spence Jr., speaking across multiple podcast studios, the Nebraskan expressed a keen interest in pursuing a match with either Canelo Alvarez or Jermell Charlo. Then, in between, there were talks of a face-off with Gervonta Davis. But Crawford clarified that it is not going to happen until the Baltimorean climbs to 147 pounds. In the meantime, new developments occurred.

By September, Errol Spence Jr. had invoked the rematch clause, which was part of their initial fight’s terms. On the other hand, Charlo suffered defeat at the hands of Alvarez on September 30. So technically, it boils down to two choices for Terence Crawford: go with the rematch or follow up with the undisputed Super Middleweight Champion. However, several experts have voiced concern about whether climbing three divisions up would be such a prudent decision for ‘Bud.’ Anyhow, if nothing else, he could always go back and pursue other divisional challengers.

Given his prowess in wrestling, should Terence Crawford give MMA a chance? Please share your views with us in the comments below.

Deontay Wilder’s trainer and former heavyweight contender, Malik Scott, is confident he knows what would happen should Tyson Fury ever fight Anthony Joshua following his lacklustre showing against Francis Ngannou.

The majority of fight fans expected Lineal and WBC champion Fury to play with former MMA champion Ngannou when the pair met in the squared circle in Riyadh.

Across 10 rounds, however, Ngannou remained competitive and even shocked the world by knocking Fury down in the third round. Fury got up and saw out a split decision points win, but came out with a diminished reputation.

Speaking to ESNews, Scott was asked how British rival Joshua would get on against Fury after that showing

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury

Scott was then asked how Oleksandr Usyk will fare against Fury when the pair meet, though one former champion has advised the Brit against that fight.

Scott highlighted the punishment Fury has taken across his career and the effect that is now starting to have.

Whether Fury is in decline or it was just an off night, fans will find out when he steps into the ring with Usyk for the contracted and historic undisputed heavyweight championship of the world, set for February next year.
