It’ll be a while till we see Gervonta Davis get back to boxing. However, that has not stopped him from being part of the sport’s affairs. While he braces for his return to the ring, he has endorsed a friend of his for his upcoming April fight. Such endorsement comes in the wake of Davis being AWOL from the sport owing to the time he spent in jail over June.

The lightweight champion spent about 44 days in jail after a Baltimore judge revoked his home arrest. The sentencing pertains to his November 2020 car crash that injured four people, including a pregnant woman. The law enforcement department ordered him a 90-day house arrest at his coach Calvin Ford’s house. However, official records suggest that the fighter initially spent the time in a luxury hotel. Later, he bought a new place for himself. Now that he’s a free man, he’s back to training. While doing so, he has also set the premise for his friend’s upcoming fight.

“Stay Tuned,” Gervonta Davis Endorses the Barbados fight

Recently, ‘Tank’ Davis was featured on Cobia Breedy’s social media to promote the featherweight fighter’s return to the ring. Tank asked his fans to “stay tuned” for the fight that is set to take its course in April next year in a Barbados Arena. The 32-year-old fighter roots himself in the DC Destroyers team.

The opponent for ‘Soldier’ Breedy has not been disclosed yet. However, the fighter is going all out in seeking endorsements for this fight. It will be his re-entry into the ring after a long sabbatical. He last fought against Sulaiman Segawa in October 2021. The fight ended in a no-contest, no-decision result. Come April 2024, he will return to the sport in hopes of starting from where he left off. That’s all about Breedy. But when is Tank returning to the ring?

Tank will headline in early 2024

It’s been a while since the fighter has finished his jail time. Yet, he remains away from the ring. The boxing realm has desperately sought clarifications as to when he would return to the ring, and now he has cleared all the air on this front. Earlier, in a social media post, Tank declared that he would be taking the rest of this year to work on his personal life. But in 2024, he will be back in the ring.

While the possible opponents for his next fight remain undisclosed, there has been one fighter who has already thrown his name in the hat. Devin Haney, who is all set to fight Regis Prograis in the super-lightweight division, has said that he would want to take the “biggest fight in boxing” against Tank. However, he says that for such a fight to happen, it’ll need to be at a higher weight. In response, Tank’s coach refuted the idea saying, “I feel like people are trying to suck him away from 135 to protect certain people. We’ve got unfinished business at 135, you know what I mean?”

He further added, “If he can make 135, why can’t he fight Tank at 135? It’s crazy. He don’t have any more power at 140 – I don’t see it anyway. I watched him tap the bag the other day. Claressa Shields hit the bag harder than that.” Regardless, the coach also feels that the ‘Dream’ using Tank’s name is yet another attempt to sell his upcoming fight.

Haney will fight against Regis Prograis on the 9th of December at the Chase Centre in San Francisco. Tank’s future bouts, on the other hand, remain shrouded in uncertainty. He last fought against Ryan Garcia to only win through a resounding 7th round knockout. Who do you think Tank should fight next? Let us know in the comments section below.

Gervonta Davis, the rising star in the world of boxing, has been attracting attention from his rivals who are eager to challenge him. After his victory over Ryan Garcia in April, which was hailed as the biggest commercial fight of the year, Davis has become one of the hottest properties in the sport. It is estimated that the fight brought in over 1 million pay-per-view buys, solidifying his status as a box office draw.

However, Davis has recently been making headlines for his actions outside of the ring rather than inside it. He found himself serving time in jail after breaking a house arrest order, which is not the first time he has had trouble with the law.

Despite this, Davis believes that his own actions are the only thing that can jeopardize his superstardom. When asked about potential challengers like Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson, Davis confidently stated: “The only person that could beat me is Gervonta Davis. Those others cannot touch me at all.”

Davis has sparred with both Haney and Stevenson in the past and claims to have come out on top. He dismisses Haney as a threat, saying: “Devin Haney is no 50/50 fight. How are you going to keep me off him when he’s got no power?” Davis even recalls a sparring session where he almost knocked Haney out in Floyd Mayweather‘s gym. These statements show Davis’ self-assuredness and belief in his own abilities.

He’s focused on his return to the ring

While a potential fight with Haney may have to wait as he moves up to the 140 lbs weight class to take on Regis Prograis, Davis is focused on his own return to the ring before the end of the year. A rematch with Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz is currently the front-runner for his next fight. Davis is determined to continue his winning streak and prove himself as one of the best in the sport.

Before Anthony Joshua lost the belts against Oleksandr Usyk, the fight everybody wanted to see at Heavyweight was him against Tyson Fury. An all-British affair that would’ve been one of the most watched fights in boxing history with potential to become a trilogy. It didn’t get much bettern than that but AJ massed it up by losing against Andy Ruiz first and then losing for a second time against Oleksandr Usyk. Those four fights alone made Tyson Fury lose interest in a potential matchup against him. But for promoter Eddie Hearn, there is still no better fight than that one. Perhaps Joshua vs Deontay Wilder would also be extremely entertaining but Fury is the biggest box office draw.

During a recent interview in iFL TV, Hearn said: “I’m telling you, and I’m saying it with a big chest and all my heart and now all my brain, Anthony Joshua beats Tyson Fury everyday of the week. He knocks him spark out. And you can go around and you can say, ‘He’s frozen out, he’s a dosser, I’m a dosser.’ We saw Saturday night-we know the weaknesses. There (pointing to head) and there (pointing to chin), it ain’t what it used to be. Make the fight. AJ against Fury. You better go and beat Usyk, because you do, you have to make the AJ fight. You cannot retire without fighting Anthony Joshua. But he’ll do the job for you because he’ll put you into retirement. I promise you that.”

At 34-0-1, Tyson Fury is one of the few boxers in the world whohas never lost a fight while AJ has that 26-3 record. Eddie Hearn knows that Tyson Fury would need beat Oleksandr Usyl in order to make that other fight happen. Judging on how much Tyson struggled against Francis Ngannou, perhaps the Ukrainian won’t be as easy to beat as everybody thought. We won’t know if this fight will be possible until February, 2024. Initially, Fury vs Usyk was slated for December but Tyson needs to recover from the beating he took while fighting Ngannou.

Promoter Eddie Hearn is more convinced than ever that Tyson Fury will be no match for Anthony Joshua after Fury’s latest outing in the ring.

England’s Fury, the WBC titlist, scraped by boxing newbie Francis Ngannou, a former UFC champion, last Saturday night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with a split decision after 10 rounds. Fury also had to overcome a near-disaster in the third round, when Ngannou floored him with a left hook.

What was regarded by many experts and pundits as a mismatch turned out to be a competitive affair—a shocking outcome considering the fight marked Ngannou’s professional boxing debut and Fury has long been regarded as the top heavyweight of this era.

Now Hearn, who promotes London’s Joshua, is confident that Fury has lost a step and posits, moreover, that Joshua would be able to stop Fury at this point if they met in the ring. A Joshua vs. Fury heavyweight match, long stymied by boxing politics, would arguably be the biggest fight in British boxing.

“I’m telling you, and I’m saying it with a big chest and all my heart and now all my brain, Anthony Joshua beats Tyson Fury everyday of the week,” Hearn told iFL TV. “He knocks him spark out. And you can go around and you can say, ‘He’s frozen out, he’s a dosser, I’m a dosser.’

“We saw Saturday night—we know the weaknesses. There (pointing to head) and there (pointing to chin), it ain’t what it used to be. Make the fight. AJ against Fury.”

Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) is now set to take on unified champion Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight championship. They will reportedly fight in February, also in Riyadh.

Hearn insisted that Fury is obligated to fight Joshua (26-3, 23 KOs) before he decides to retire.

“You better go and beat Usyk, because you do, you have to make the AJ fight,” Hearn said. “You cannot retire without fighting Anthony Joshua. But he’ll do the job for you because he’ll put you into retirement. I promise you that.”

In the wake of Gervonta Davis getting released from jail, Sean Gibbons, the head of MP Promotions declared the chance of a rematch between ‘Tank’ and Isaac Cruz. As per him, since the fans in Mexico and the US showed a massive interest in Cruz vs. Davis II, it was ideal that the fight took place. In this context, Gibbons even trumpeted that PBC will deliver Cruz vs. ‘Tank’ II in the shape of a huge post-Christmas gift.

Following Gibbons’ statements, ES News recently spoke to the managers of Teofimo Lopez and Gervonta Davis. By the by, they suggested a potential title fight between the two boxers. At this, both Team Davis and Team Lopez applauded the idea of ‘Tank’ vs. ‘The Takeover.’

Managers of Gervonta Davis and Teofimo Lopez entertain a title fight between the boxers someday

On being asked what they thought about Teofimo Lopez vs. Gervonta Davis at 140 for the title, David McWater, manager of Lopez claimed it was “a wonderful idea.” Similarly, Calvin Ford, Gervonta Davis’ trainer said, “Wonderful.” At this, Kenny Ellis, yet another coach of Davis added, “We’ve got unfinished business at 135, then we go to 140.” However, Ford interrupted and stated, “No, it’s not unfinished. We finished at 135.” Along these lines, he announced that he liked the fight – Lopez vs. Davis.

Following the statement by Ford, McWater announced that since Lopez only wants the biggest fights, it is likely that ‘The Takeover’ will fight ‘Tank’ one day. “Yeah, it will happen someday because Teofimo only wants the biggest and it seems so does ‘Tank,‘” McWater said. However, in this context, it is worth mentioning that Lopez, who reportedly trained for ‘Tank,’ felt Davis would never fight him.

Lopez called Davis “scared”

After Teofimo Lopez, following his victory over Josh Taylor, announced his short-lived retirement, Max Kellerman wondered if there was a figure that could reignite Lopez’s spirit. At this, Kellerman also suggested the name of Davis. While Lopez thought ‘Tank’ a good fight, he called the latter “scared.” “‘Tank’ Davis? Yeah, but he’s too scared,” declared ‘The Takeover.’

The teams of Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder failed to get a deal across the line for a fight this year.

It’s yet another delay in the long saga of the transatlantic rivalry that once could have been for the undisputed title, and whilst the promoters are trying to get it on for Spring next year, it’s widely accepted that both must fight before then.

Joshua’s team have said as much, and the Olympic Gold Medalist continues to train in Texas in the hope of a date soon. One man fans would like to see him in with is former amateur opponent, Zhilei Zhang.

Wilder’s team have also expressed an interest in facing ‘Big Bang’ in China. The 40-year-old southpaw has had perhaps the most impressive 2023 on the heavyweight scene, defeating Joe Joyce twice by stoppage.

He has penned a deal with promoter Frank Warren and, despite being mandatory challenger for Oleksandr Usyk’s WBO World title, has made it clear he doesn’t want to sit out and wait. He has mentioned both ‘AJ’ and Wilder as potentials.

Anthony-Joshua and Deontay-Wilder

Unfortunately, it looks like the decision may have been made for him. Speaking to Seconds Out, Warren revealed he has picked up injury.

Whilst the promoter didn’t specify the recovery time, his answer was in response to a question about facing Francis Ngannou, who he said should fight within six months but didn’t rule out the idea of a return on December 23.

Ngannou is another name on the lists of Joshua and Wilder as they still attempt to salvage negotiations for their own fight, now slated for March 2024 at the earliest.

Terence Crawford can be ferocious both in and out of the ring.

The undisputed welterweight world champion dominated and stopped Errol Spence to unify all four belts in July and crowned himself as boxing’s pound-for-pound king in the process.

The result was tough to take for Spence, but perhaps even tougher for some of his fans on social media.

Five years of build-up came to a head on July 29, when Crawford silenced all of his critics.

Among these doubters was loyal Spence fan Ray Jackson, who to this day still continues to post jokey tweets about how he refuses to give the victor any credit.

Terence Crawford

On Friday, Jackson began by quote-tweeting a video suggesting Crawford used illicit hand wraps in the Spence fight

He said: “This is why I don’t give Crawford credit for the Spence win. Tim Bradley even called this BS out.”

Crawford ruthlessly replied: “Yo momma give me all the credit for you coming outta my nutsack though.

“She just mad at me because I told her you wasn’t mines because she was out there heavy in the streets I found out. So she kept you away from me son I’m sorry it wasn’t my fault she did it, ask her.”

The thread then exploded with numerous replies from other boxing fans.

Canelo Alvarez’s undisputed triumph over Jermell Charlo on Saturday immediately put Canelo as the belle of the ball again and everyone wanted to dance with him, including Terence Crawford who would have to jump 3 weight classes to face the undisputed middleweight champion of the world.

Terence Crawford went to the Canelo vs. Charlo fight to witness firsthand how his would-be opponent moves, to study and even enjoy a show, after the match he was seemingly disappointed by Charlo’s performance and even made a series of tweets about it.

Fighting Crawford is not the plan according to Canelo

Crawford mentioned that he was willing to do what it takes to fight Canelo, including jumping three divisions to have a legacy-defining fight against the undisputed champion, however, Canelo was quick to respond “I always say if a fight makes sense, why not? But he is not in the plan.”

Terence Bud Crawford

At this point it is too early to determine who Canelo will fight next, as both Benavides and Bivol sound plausible, meanwhile, Bud Crawford is in negotiations to honor a rematch with Errol Spence Jr. on April.

Whatever his intentions are, Terence Crawford is closer to fighting Jermell Charlo than Canelo, as many pundits believe that it would also be good to see Crawford jump fewer weight classes to meet the so-called ‘lion’ and try to make him look like a “cub“.

At the end of the match, Canelo was proud of his accomplishments, “I love you guys. I love my family, my friends who come to support me. Thank you so much. I’m a strong fighter all the time. This Canelo, nobody can beat this Canelo. He’s a great fighter, he knows how to move in the ring. We worked on [going to the body.] For three months without my family, without everything. But I still love boxing. I love boxing so f***ing much. Boxing is my life. Boxing makes me the person I am today.”

The Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight would definitely attract a lot of attention and would be a great event for the boxing world, so the arrangement would seem imminent. However, Canelo Alvarez, the current undisputed champion in the super middleweight division, considers that he is still a step above ‘Bud’, despite the impressive demonstration he gave just a few weeks ago, destroying Errol Spence.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, Canelo said that Crawford “is a great fighter,” with the caveat that only Spence is a big name on the fighter’s world card.

Canelo added, “As I always said, I respect Crawford. He’s a very talented fighter, but he just won one big fight. If you look at his record, he just beat a good fighter, like Errol Spence. Other than that, I don’t think he’s beaten any other great fighters. He did a very good job against Spence, he made him look very easy, but I already knew that Terence Crawford is a great fighter.”

When could Canelo and Terence Crawford face each other?

Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez

Canelo acknowledged that it is possible to arrange a fight against Bud, once he gets over the fight he has on the door for next September 30 against Jermell Charlo in Las Vegas, although he warned that the weight difference between the two could be a complication.

“In boxing, you never know, and we’ll see in the future. Right now, I’m 100 percent focused on Jermell, but we’ll see in the future, if the fight makes sense, why not?,” said Canelo.

He added: “I respect Crawford, he’s a great fighter. I always say it, I won’t disrespect him, but it’s a little crazy that people criticize me for facing a fighter who is supposed to be smaller like (Jermell) Charlo, and now everyone is asking me if I’m going to fight (Terence) Crawford, a 147-pound fighter, who is even smaller than Charlo.”

Tyson Fury’s words have come back to haunt him after threatening to sue Oleksandr Usyk if their undisputed fight doesn’t go ahead this year.

Heavyweight champions Fury and Usyk were expected to fight on December 23 but that date has now been pushed back to February because of the damage Fury sustained against Francis Ngannou last weekend. Fury was expected to breeze past former UFC champion Ngannou to set up a fight with Usyk, but he needed to pick himself up off the canvas to scrape out a split decision win.

Fury told Sky Sports before the fight: “Usyk’s a sausage. I expect it to be taking place in December, that’s what I’ve been told, so I’ve got no reason to disbelieve it. Usyk has to fight me in December, doesn’t have a choice. He signed the contract, so if he doesn’t, he’s breached contract and he gets sued. So he doesn’t really have a choice.

The Brit was still sporting a black eye after being pictured outside of his home in Morecambe almost a week on from the fight. Fury was spotted alongside wife Paris getting into his Rolls-Royce Phantom Series II car, which is worth over £300,000. It was also the first time the couple have been seen out together in public with their new son and seventh child, Prince Rico Paris Fury.

Oleksandr Tyson

Usyk was ringside for Fury’s recent win and was even shouting instructions for his heavyweight rival. The Ukrainian has insisted that he will be ready to fight on December 23 but Fury is not thinking about boxing for now and is letting Saudi Arabia take care of the undisputed clash.

They [Saudi] will sort it out when they sort it out. Until that day, I’m not interested. I said before, don’t bother me about boxing until after this fight. I’m going home and I’m going to have a break to spend time with my kids, I’ve been away for 12 weeks. I’ve had a newborn baby I’ve seen three times that’s six weeks old already,” Fury told iFLTV.

“I’m fighting Usyk next and we’ve both signed the contract, whenever that is it is. All these boxing things and whatever else… I’ve done my job and I’ve been paid. Happy days and onto the next one. I’ll get paid for that one and onto the next one after that. Nothing more to be said.”Tyson
