Shakur Stevenson and Terence Crawford are known to be best buddies. They have expressed respect and appreciation for each other’s skills. Shakur Stevenson is set to make his much-anticipated comeback to the boxing ring on Thursday, November 16th. He will be facing Edwin De Los Santos in a bout for the vacant WBC championship. Before the fight went down, the WBO Welterweight champion decided to enjoy a fun basketball match with the Olympic silver medalist.

Fans were delighted to see the two pals sweating it out on the basketball field. Another fan had an entire analysis ready for Stevenson. They wrote, “I hope Shakur dont start making bad decisions like Andrade and waits until he’s 35 to start fighting the top guys. Shakur should of taken that Haney offer I don’t care what anyone says Shakur made a huge mistake not taking that fight. Now hes fighting for one strap on a Thursday. SMH.”

“Shakur only made 100k fightin bums So he ain’t gonna give it up,” remarked one fan discrediting Stevenson’s fight, saying his opponents were not challenging enough. This comment found numerous fans of Stevenson coming to his defense.
Stevenson, a world champion, engaged in a candid conversation with Naji. He discussed his rivalry with Haney, his upcoming fight, and other subjects. When questioned about Navarrete, Stevenson provided a detailed analysis of his opponent’s fighting style, expressing confidence that Navarrete’s speed and technique wouldn’t be sufficient to defeat him

Anthony Joshua has revealed he could fight American boxer Deontay Wilder on the same night as Tyson Fury v Oleksandr Usyk in what would be one of the biggest events in boxing history. The potential double bill has already been labeled as a “mega card,” although is yet to be officially confirmed

The fight night comes amid Fury and Usyk’s heavyweight bout that was agreed in October. The pair will compete for the undisputed title – with Fury being the current holder of the WBC belt, and Usyk holding the WBA, WBO and IBF titles – and after Fury has fought Francis Ngannou.

Joshua is scheduled to fight Wilder having recently defeated Robert Helenius and Jermaine Franklin this year. Wilder is the obvious opponent for the former two-time unified world heavyweight champion, with the American last competing in October 2022 where he also fought, and defeated, Helenius.

Reports that all four fighters could compete on the same night come following a recent admission from Joshua. “They want to put Usyk-Fury, Joshua-Wilder on the same night. That might not happen until April,” Joshua said, speaking ahead of the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury

“When Fury gets [through] Ngannou, it is going to be late October, early November, so I doubt he will now prepare of Usyk and fight in December, it’s too short,” Joshua added.

“So the next window will probably be in March-April, so that’s probably when the undisputed fight will potentially happen. Then obviously what we are being told is they want to make it a mega card and they like the sound of Joshua v Wilder on the same card as well.”

Before any such bout, Fury will have to face former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou first. The pair will touch gloves on Oct. 28 in Riyadh in a bout that will not go towards either fighter’s records.

Joshua went on to claim that he plans to fight this December at the 02 or Wembley Arena in London, but it is unclear who his opponent could be. “It won’t be a championship fighter – which is Usyk and Fury,” he said. “It won’t be none of them guys and I am not too sure about the Wilder situation.

Joshua added that no date has been set for his bout against Wilder. “It feels like a land grab at the moment,” he said. “Some fighters want to maximise their revenue. When I first started, you start, you build up your record, you fight and then you fight the big fights.

“But it is like, ‘Where can we get the most money for the fight?’ And they want to go to Saudi Arabia so they are waiting for the undisputed fight. For my career, I have got to stay busy. And in terms of an opponent for December we have got to find the right opponent.”

Anthony Joshua has said he is ‘here for the fans’ with regards to whether or not he might ever fight current lineal and WBC world champion Tyson Fury.

Having not fought since his knockout win over Robert Helenius in August, Joshua is currently without an opponent or a fight date. There has been plenty of talk of a huge showdown with American, Deontay Wilder, but talks have stalled after an offer from Saudi Arabia’s Skills Challenge was withdrawn.

Fury, meanwhile, has two lined up – first he faces Francis Ngannou over 10 rounds in Riyadh on October 28, and should he get through that there is a much anticipated undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk, who holds the WBA, WBO and IBF belts he won off Joshua.

Anthony Joshua

The hope is that once that fight has happened, it might finally be time for the two best British heavyweights of their generation to face off.

With that in mind, Martin Brundle of Sky Sports F1 recently asked Joshua was whether the fight with Fury will ever be made.

Joshua then went on to reveal his fight plans for the next six or so months

Joshua has recently been linked to a fight against Filip Hrgovic, which after a recent ruling could have the IBF world title on the line.

It looks like Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder are going to reignite heavyweight boxing.

Heavyweight boxing has long been a subject of relentless criticism from the fight world for its apprehension of pairing up top-tier talents and champions. As per the latest reports, all that is about to change.

Per a report by Boxing News 24/7, Joshua has said to BBC that his super fight against ‘The Bronze Bomber’ would be paired up alongside the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk undisputed clash.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk

Earlier this month, ‘The Gypsy King’ confirmed the undisputed clash on Instagram. The fight is being targeted for this December or January next year.

However, Fury is scheduled to face former UFC heavyweight kingpin Francis Ngannou later this month, so many, including Joshua, are wary about the WBC champion’s ability to fight in such a turnaround.

Talking about fighting Wilder on the same card as the heavyweight unification bout, Anthony Joshua said:

The former unified champion is 26-3 in his career. In his most recent fight, ‘AJ’ overcame early adversity to knock out Robert Helenius in the seventh round.

After failing to reclaim his WBC championship against Fury, Deontay Wilder also defeated Helenius in his most recent fight. However, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ clinched a more convincing win against the Swede, knocking him out in the first round.

Anthony Joshua could face unbeaten German fighter Agit Kabayel on December 23, his promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed – after ruling out a showdown between the British star and Deontay Wilder.

Joshua is looking for his next opponent as he continues his road to recovery following crushing back-to-back defeats against Oleksandr Usyk, with AJ getting back to winning ways against Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius this year.

But despite fans demanding a mouth-watering clash between Joshua and former WBC world champion Deontay Wilder, talks for that fight are now on the rocks. It was set to be staged in Saudi Arabia before changes in the country’s boxing management left it in doubt.

Hearn had been discussing possible opponents after giving up hope on the Wilder fight coming to fruition this year, saying Kabayel – who has won all 23 of his pro bouts – was a contender. He also suggested unbeaten Croatian star Filip Hrgovic and Swedish fighter Otto Wallin.

However, he dismissed suggestions that WBA ‘regular’ champion Mahmoud Charr could step in and fight AJ.

‘[Charr] is looking for an opponent. He’s got the WBA regular title, which we certainly wouldn’t be saying Joshua is a three-time heavyweight champion [if he won that belt]. Definitely not,’ he told SecondsOut.

‘But at the same time, if he’s going to fight someone in December, I’m not saying it will be Charr, but it could be Kabayel. It could be Hrgovic or Wallin out of this situation, let’s see what happens.’

Kabayel’s most famous win came when he shocked Dereck Chisora by beating the British star by unanimous decision in 2017.

Hearn said anyone who wanted to see Joshua fight Wilder, Zhilei Zhang – fresh off his second victory over Joe Joyce – or old opponent Andy Ruiz would be disappointed as he revealed how his star boxer was insistent that he fight three times in 2023.

‘It’s not going to be Deontay Wilder, it’s not going to be Andy Ruiz, and it probably won’t be Zhang, so you have to look at that top-15,’ he added.

‘We’re more [sure] on the date than the opponent. He wants to fight in December.

‘In his head he says he wanted to fight three times in a year. But I said, “you fought in April”. He said, “no, I want to fight three times in 2023”. So he would love to get in in December. And we’ll have to keep one eye on the 23rd (of December) because we just don’t know what’s going to happen.’

Speaking at the United States Grand Prix this weekend, Joshua remained coy about the December bout.

‘It won’t be a championship fighter – which is Usyk and Fury,’ he said. ‘It won’t be none of them guys and I am not too sure about the Wilder situation.’

He did talk up the possibility of facing Wilder next year and even suggested it could take place on the same card as Tyson Fury against Usyk.

‘They want to put Usyk v Fury and Joshua v Wilder on the same night,’ he added.

‘When Fury gets through Ngannou it is going to be late October going into November, so I doubt he will prepare for Usyk and then fight in December.

‘It is too short. So the next window will be in March or April and that is when the undisputed fight will happen. What we are being told is that they want to make it a mega card.’

The year couldn’t have gone any better for Gervonta Davis. On the first Saturday of 2023, the 28-year-old wanted to kick off his campaign with a bang. He did just that when he elected to take on Hector Luis Garcia. It was a relatively close fight. That is until Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) began taking control in the second half.

The Baltimore native landed his money shot in the final few rounds, leaving Garcia wobbly. He then stumbled back to his corner before complaining to his coaching staff that he was unable to see, immediately leading to referee Albert Earl Brown stopping things from getting any worse.

Davis continued his Garcia tour by permanently shutting the mouth of Ryan Garcia. Although he shouted brazen threats and didn’t appear worried about what Davis brought to the table, he was forced to eat his words via seventh-round stoppage.

With Davis wiping out his competition in the first half of the year, he had plenty of time to make another appearance. However, a 2020 hit-and-run conviction, which ultimately led to Davis spending 44 days in jail, somewhat derailed him. Still, once his cell door was opened, fans were excited for what was next.

Would Shakur Stevenson get the call? How about Devin Haney? Frank Martin was another mouthwatering option. Even Isaac Cruz, although a healthy segment of fans weren’t particularly interested, a rematch between them was something they could stomach. Regardless of who was chosen, watching Davis saunter through a jam-packed arena before sending his opponent to the moon was always satisfying.

Not to be the bearer of bad news but don’t hold your breath in terms of a Davis return this year. While he was a bit cryptic, the pound-for-pound star revealed that his 2023 is officially over.

“I’m getting my personal life together,” said Davis on his social media account. “I’ll see y’all at the top of the year.”

Two lions can never live in a single forest. Given the proximity of their divisions, a challenge, or at least a pretense of challenge, between two of the biggest superstars of boxing is bound to occur at some point. The beef between Terence Crawford and Gervonta Davis has continued for some time. Opening a new chapter in their ‘Game of Thrones,’ or rather ‘Game of Gloves,’ the Welterweight champion, his protégé Shakur Stevenson, and a few friends took a broad swipe at Davis.

Ask any die-hard fan about Gervonta Davis, and the chances are they would repeat those immortal lines the Lightweight champion delivered after tearing apart Ryan Garcia. When asked whether he was the face of boxing, ‘Tank’ replied, “Abso-f***king-lutely!” While some might buy his argument for saying so, many would disagree. There are other strong contenders—Terence Crawford, who became the first man to become a two-division undisputed champion in July.

Bud’ and ‘Sugar’ play with a ‘Tank’

Gervonta Tank Davis

Terence Crawford shared a short clip through his Instagram story early today. He is not visible on camera. Nevertheless, it showed him joining a few buddies, which included the most recent entrant to the Lightweight division, Shakur Stevenson. So, teasing an interview with Gervonta Davis, Crawford asks a young boy, “Tank, Tank, what [do] you do to all?” The youngster replied, “I’ll beat all of them…

Then, exclaiming that he (Davis) has defeated almost everyone, Crawford turns to each friend present. He says, “You beat all of them…you ran all of them down…ran you down, ran you down… ran you down… ran you down, hey hey you lost, hey the champ, the champ.” Towards the end, Shakur Stevenson appears, shouting, “…he beat everybody‘”

Nevertheless, the match proves to be an exciting prospect with two dominant fighters set to go head-to-head.

Terence Crawford versus Gervonta Davis?

The genesis of their war of words goes back to sometime early in August. A few days after ‘Bud’ had defeated Errol Spence Jr., Gervonta Davis claimed in a podcast that he could wind up Crawford well within six rounds! In the meantime, the Welterweight champion expressed a keen interest in pursuing a potential line-up against either Canelo Alvarez or Jermell Charlo. To that end, he even seemed willing to frog leap divisions.

So, is there any scope for Gervonta Davis? In a podcast, the Nebraskan acknowledged what a potential fight with the Baltimorean means. Given the latter’s star value, a clash between the two is a sure top draw and payday. However, that’s not enough. Terence Crawford clarified the only way a bout between the two could happen. ‘Tank’ must climb to 147 pounds to meet the two-division undisputed champion.

Showtime will stop covering boxing after 2023. This echoes what HBO did five years ago. Furthermore, Paramount’s CEO, Chris McCarthy, told staff in a letter that Showtime will no longer produce sports content. This means the network will also stop broadcasting Bellator MMA. According to McCarthy, “shifting content priorities” caused the closure.

Showtime will air its last two boxing events of this year. Stephen Espinoza, Showtime Sports’ president, felt deeply disappointed. Fans are questioning the mere crux of “what’s selling” vs. “what is needed.” Moreover, big names in boxing are questioning the sport’s future. Renowned names like Terence CrawfordRyan GarciaEddie Hearn, and more expressed their dejection over the decision. Thus, shadowing the same emotions we have Claressa Shields.

Claressa Shields shared the collective emotion of the boxing fraternity

Claressa Shields

Claressa Shields is often seen expressing herself via tweets. Whether it be her musing or just venting out, she uses her Twitter account effectively. Her recent tweet thus expresses her sadness over the cessation of Showtime Boxing. Shields tweeted, “Sad day for boxing ! No more showtime.”

Echoing the same emotions, even Jamel Herring tweeted his dismay about the news. He noted the loss of HBO Boxing and now Showtime Boxing. What really ignited fan debate was his mention of the recent Misfits event’s pay-per-view sales. Herring asked, “We’ve lost HBO and Showtime, but the Misfits are selling 1.3 million PPVs. What am I missing?”
Ryan Garcia urges boxers to reimagine the current scenario of boxing
Ryan Garcia emphasized that Showtime’s cessation marks a significant shift in the boxing world. He noted that HBO and Showtime, two major platforms that have defined boxing for a generation, are no longer involved. Because of this, Garcia called on all boxers to take collective action. He wrote, “Today is a really important day for boxing. HBO and Showtime defined our sport for a generation and now they are both out. All us boxers need to make this our collective fight. We gotta be thinking about marketing, new audiences, investors, global, all of it. Boxing is still the greatest sport in the world. We just gotta reimagine it.”
Thus, ‘King Ry’ suggested they should actively engage in marketing, attract new audiences, secure investors, and expand the sport globally. In his view, boxing continues to be the greatest sport; it just needs to be reimagined to adapt to the current landscape

WBC super-lightweight world champion has weighed in with his prediction for a potential super fight between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

Despite the fact Crawford would have to jump from welterweight to super middleweight for a shot at the Mexican, there are some observers who believe he could do the unthinkable and emerge victorious.

Prograis, however, is not one of them.

In a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, ‘Rougarou’ admitted that he sees a fight against Alvarez being a bridge too far for the undisputed 147lbs champion, stating “they make weight classes for a reason.”

Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez

Some in the sport had been pushing a narrative that Alvarez is a fighter on the decline, however this talk has cooled somewhat after his dominant display against Jermell Charlo last month, as referenced by Prograis.

Crawford also has more pressing issues at hand after Errol Spence Jr triggered a contractual rematch clause, and the pair are expected to lock horns again in the first three months of 2024.

A weight class for a second fight has not been agreed as of yet, but a bout at super welterweight may help ‘Bud’ acclimatise and get a little closer to Canelo.

Giovani Santillan (32-0, 17 KOs) is targeting WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford for his next fight after stopping crowd-favorite Alexis Rocha (23-2, 15 KOs) in the sixth round on Saturday night at the KIA Arena in Inglewood, California. Crawford could be performantly out of reach for any of the welterweight right now, apart from Errol Spence Jr., and the only reason he’s fighting him is because of their rematch clause. Santillan looked impressive with his combination punching and the way that he adapted during the fight, going from throwing single-power shots to throwing combinations.

Once Santillan began throwing combos in the fifth, that’s when he began hurting Rocha. He knocked him down twice in the fifth and another time in the sixth. Let’s do it. If he wants to take it, let’s do it,” said Santillan to ESNEWS. “I appreciate him taking the fight about wanting to challenge WBO 147-lb champion Terence Crawford. “I worked really hard for this. I’ve been waiting for an opportunity for people to be able to see me on stage like this main event against an opponent like Lex [Rocha],” said Santillan to the media on Saturday night after his victory over Rocha.

“The last time I was in this position where I was the B-side, with the majority of the crowd on his side, I got a second round knockout. Sometimes, I need that to fuel something in me to get the fire in me going,” Santillan said. “This is the type of fight that I wanted to show everyone who I am. I’m happy that the promoters were able to come together, so I’m thankful to David McWater and Top Rank & Golden Boy for making this happen. They came together to make this happen. I think we need this in boxing right now.

“All the top fighters from different promoters need to get together and fight. I was watching Mario Barrios fight a couple of weeks ago. That’s a fight that I would like. “He has the [WBC] interim title, so anything that will take me closer to a world title. So, he’s another guy I would love to get in the ring with. Anybody that is up there right now? That’s just somebody that I saw recently fight that I think would be a very interesting fight for me,” said Santillan about Mario Barrios. “I think being aggressive, being active, putting my punches together. That’s what my corner was telling me.
Terence Crawford

“In the beginning, I think I started off throwing a little more bombs with single punches, and they told me, ‘Okay, you’re doing good with that, but if you really want to get this guy out of there, you got to put your punches together. “Combination, three, four at a time, as well as still be defensive in there. I’ve been working a lot right now in throwing more body shots in training camp. With the fight was playing out, I felt that I needed to get him right there. “I had him, so I was kind of head-hunting a little bit, but I felt I was breaking him down, and it worked out for me in the end. He’s tough. That says a lot about Alexis Rocha because I thought after the first one, he might not get back up, but he got back up.

“He got back up and showed that he’s a warrior right there, and he’s tough, and that he’s not going to lay down. I didn’t expect that at all coming in, especially with being in the ring with him before. I always knew that this would be a war. “I gave him a little huge. I haven’t had much of a chance to talk with him. The crowd was kind of in the way. I wish him the best going forward. I think Lexi Rocha has a bright future going forward.
“I felt that this was a good fight that boxing fans are looking for right now. I hope the whole world got to see this because this is what I needed to show this type of performance in front of everybody,” said Santillan
