ANTHONY JOSHUA has reportedly flown back to Texas to start training for a December return fight.

AJ most recently knocked out Robert Helenius in August after seven rounds and looked on course to face Deontay Wilder next.

But after talks with Saudi Arabian backers broke down, promoter Eddie Hearn warned the blockbuster faces postponement.

And Hearn revealed AJ could instead be back in an interim bout in December after targeting March or April for a fight with Wilder.

Hearn’s Matchroom stable are eyeing a December 23 bill in Abu Dhabi for Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn’s grudge match.

So it could mean Joshua squeezes on the UNDERCARD which would be his first non main-event since 2015.

According to DAZN’s Ade Oladipo, Joshua, 34, has gone back to Dallas to start training camp with coach Derrick James.

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury

Hearn previously revealed how Joshua could fight on the night touted for Eubank and Benn’s blockbuster.

He said: “It could go on December 23, maybe even as well.”

Joshua could also turn his attention to IBF mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic, 31, as an alternative to Wilder, 37

Tyson Fury, 35, and Oleksandr Usyk, 36, have signed for an undisputed title decider in Saudi Arabia.

So Hrgovic is in line to fight for the IBF “interim” belt which guarantees him a shot at the champion.

Or he will inherit the full title if the victor of the unification was to be stripped or vacated.

Hearn wants Joshua in a build-up fight before moving onto either Wilder or an IBF title shot.

He revealed:”I think realistically December/January will be the date for his next fight, and then he’ll fight Deontay Wilder or he’ll fight for the IBF world heavyweight title.

“He wants to become heavyweight champion, he wants to fight Deontay Wilder, he wants to fight Tyson Fury.

“But he also wants to stay active, and that’s what he’s asked me to do to try and get him in the ring as soon as possible.”

Gervonta Davis scored the biggest win of his career against Ryan Garcia in April earlier this year. However, that win marked the beginning of his bad luck as the bad news followed the boxing star since then. Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis pleaded guilty to four counts for the crash in November 2020. Hence, he was ordered to remain under house arrest in his trainer, Calvin Ford’s home for 90 days.

However, the 29-0 Baltimore native decided to move to a hotel and then to another home without permission, per a report from Mike Coppinger. The unauthorized action from ‘Tank’ landed him in further trouble, as Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Althea Handy ordered Davis to serve the rest of his sentence in Baltimore jail. So, after being released from a 44-day prison sentence, Davis turned to Instagram. Recently, he share a heartfelt message with his fans while flaunting million-dollar a watch, rings, and outfits.

Earnest words from Gervonta Davis right after release

In his Instagram post today, the boxing star wrote, “If you spend your time chasing butterflies, they’ll fly away. But if you spend your time making a beautiful garden, the butterflies will come to you. When you focus on improving yourself, everything you want will come to you. We attract based on who we are, not what we want. Don’t chase, attract.” Besides sharing these beautiful words, Davis also included some images.

The undefeated boxer shared pictures of three images of three different outfits. He also included a short clip of a ring with a large pick diamond attached to a rose gold shank. In addition, Davis shared a close-up image of an Audemars Piguet watch. With that out of the way, now that Davis is out of prison, when is his next fight?

Gervonta Davis has quite an impressive resume, having defeated the likes of Ryan Garcia, Leo Santa Cruz, and Mario Barrios. However, after his last fight, the boxing world has been waiting for his next clash in the ring. During a recent podcast, Davis’ trainer, Calvin, dropped hints at a massive comeback bout for Gervonta Davis

During his appearance in The Rize Podcast, Calvin mentioned that the negotiations are underway for the next big fight for Davis. He even claimed the mystery surrounding Davis’ opponent was intentional because it would send shockwaves throughout the boxing world. While the hints from Calvin suggest a potential fight, there has not been any official announcement for the same.

Since his release from prison, Davis has seemingly bounced back as he has been active on social media. As far as Davis’ next fight is concerned, only time can tell who will get into the ring with Davis. However, we want to know what you think about Davis’ sentence.

Eddie Hearn has confidently declared that he believes Anthony Joshua will beat both Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury.

The two-time former heavyweight world champion has brought himself back into contention this year with two comeback victories following his defeats to Oleksandr Usyk

Joshua is now pursuing big fights against the likes of Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury, though neither have come to fruition as yet.

Regardless, when asked about AJ vs Fury, Hearn said on the Stick To Football podcast: “It has to be a fight, it has to be.

“Even if AJ loses to Wilder and Fury loses to Usyk, we have to see that fight.

“In an ideal word, and I’m obviously biased, I think AJ beats Wilder.

“And I believe he beats Fury, I believe he’s got the style to do it.”

Regarding whether a potential Joshua vs Fury fight would take place in the UK or Saudi Arabia, Hearn suggested the Middle East was more likely.

“This is the issue now with the money coming in from the sport,” he explained, “Not just in boxing, but in football as well.

anthony joshua and deontay wilder

“You’re making double the money to stage the fight out there.

“We were the first ones to do a fight in Saudi, with Andy Ruiz Jr, and I got a load of stick.

“But I represent the fighter. When I go and have a conversation with a fighter and say, ‘It’s £20million for Wembley or £60million for Saudi.’

“What do you think? I don’t really have a say in the matter, but by the way, I’m choosing Saudi as well.

“This is the fight game. They’re prize fighters, they’re not going for 18 holes of golf.”

Asked how much Joshua and Fury would make to fight in Saudi, Hearn answered: “They’ll make over a hundred million each.

“If Fury beats Usyk and AJ beats Wilder, they’ll make over £100million each.”

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn talks to Fight Hype about the much discussed fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder that still hasn’t come to fruition. Hearn plainly says the money that was offered for the fight didn’t ultimately come through which canned their plans, and if that fight comes together it certainly won’t be by January.

Hearn on why a Joshua vs Wilder fight hasn’t come together yet

“All I can tell you is we got an approach from Saudi Arabia and Skill Challenge. We got an offer from them, we accepted the offer, Wilder accepted the offer, and the contracts never came.

“Now, should I have known that? I’ve done two fights with those guys, they were solid every time they said it’s happening, it happened, so in my mind it was done. But things changed out there and I understand that and respect it, so that’s put a spanner in the works.

“So now we’re looking at it, myself and Shelly continue to talk, but we look at Vegas and we look at some people making offers, some people wasting time against out in the Middle East, but we have to explore those options. So all I can tell you is January is definitely not happening.”

On Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott saying Joshua doesn’t want the fight to happen

“But Malik Scott talks so much shit. Like he also said it was my fault — we weren’t even involved in the negotiations. So the situation is we were offered a deal that we accepted. Now it’s not my fault now that some of the alternatives might not be the number anywhere near the last number. So that just makes us consider our options. We’re also in line to potentially fight for the IBF world title against Filip Hrgovic or we’ll see what happens with Otto Wallin.

“So I don’t care about Deontay Wilder. He’s in his own problems. The guy ain’t fought for a year and his last fight was about 40 seconds. So he’s a guy that he don’t really want to fight, I don’t think. Joshua’s boxed twice in seven months and he may fight in December or January.”

Carl Froch thinks that the announcement of an undisputed bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is a ‘master plan’, but is hesitant to fully believe it happens.

Fury is to fight former MMA titlist and boxing debutant, Francis Ngannou, on October 28 in Riyadh. It is not a bout many were expecting to see, and has been rubbished by some corners of the sport for the lack of jeopardy in it for the heavyweight champion.

Whilst that event has been building, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has also managed to negotiate and announce a historic undisputed fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

That will see all four major world titles on the line as and when the pair come to blows, with a date announcement promised after the Ngannou bout.

Speaking to bettingsites.co.uk, former unified super middleweight champion Froch said he thinks Fury vs Ngannou is a ‘play fight’ and a bit of a ‘joke shop’ fight but people will tune in because of the Usyk announcement.

He went on to call it a ‘bit of a masterplan, genius’ by Warren, but cast doubt on the undisputed fight ever happening.

Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez are one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport. Despite their weight disparity, a bout between them has been speculated. The rumors escalated after, ‘Bud,’ defeated his rival, Errol Spence Jr. in July this year. With Canelo winning his recent bout against Charlo, a call for a fight between the two has been gaining traction. After Canelo’s recent win, Crawford called out Canelo for a fight. This ignited several distinct reactions from boxing pundits and fans around the world.

In a recent turn of events, former heavyweight champion, Andy Ruiz weighs in on this potential match-up. Who does he predict to win? How does he see this bout playing out? Let’s wait no further and find out.

Andy Ruiz gives his brutally honest take on Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez

According to Ruiz, Crawford has immense talent and does not disregard his skill sets. He considers ‘Bud,’ to be a great fighter and arguably one of the most notable names in the sport. However, he does not fancy the chances of him against the likes of Alvarez because of their weight disparity. The Mexican boxer sends a stern warning to Crawford to refrain from fighting Alvarez and continue his reign against formidable opponents in his own weight class.

Reflecting on the same, in an interview with Fight Hub TV, he stated, “I think Crawford could be the best in the world in those divisions, but I think he should stay away from Canelo right now. Let Canelo do this thing. For sure, Crawford is gonna be the face of boxing.”

With a few key conditions, Thurman is apparently on board.

A fight between Thurman, the former unified welterweight titlist from Clearwater, Florida, and Claressa Shields, the multi-division champion from Flint, Michigan, widely regarded as the top female boxer in the world today, recently became an object of tabloid interest recently after Shields insisted that she could defeat Thurman in a sanctioned boxing match. (It’s doubtful that any state athletic commission would greenlight a fight between a man and a woman.)

But Thurman would only be on board with the idea if the fight, one, is an exhibition for charity, and, two, if he is restricted to using solely his jab. In other words, no hook and right hands.

In a recent interview, Thurman, 34, explained that he is interested in participating in an exhibition sometime next year and that that could be one involving the 28-year-old Shields, provided they find the right organizer.

Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs) made it very clear he has no motivation, from a competition standpoint, to fight Shields (14-0, 2 KOs). But if the proposed fight can generate money for a charitable cause, Thurman would be all for it.

“In my heart of hearts, I don’t care about being in there with Claressa Shields,” Thurman told FightHubTV. “What I do care about is, in this day … if there’s any way, any form that I can gather money for charity, for an all children’s hospital, for Shriners organization, for the non-profit organization of my guru, The Art of Living, if there’s any way that I can do something positive, ’cause I don’t see anything positive, me punching Claressa Shields ever.

“So, I need that positive twist, that I can be proud of, outside of just doing something different, doing an exhibition, doing something that’s playful. But I promise you this, if it ever manifests, I’m still only using jab only.”

Asked if limiting himself to the jab against Shields might be foolhardy, Thurman mocked the idea that Shields could be competitive against him, citing his footwork.

“What she gonna do?” Thurman said. “C’mon man. You see that happening? C’mon man. My footwork, I mean, the girl don’t—that’s why I’m gonna use jab only, man, she ain’t ever seen no footwork. She ain’t ever seen no world class footwork like that. It’s different. I would just want to show that you think you’re in the same sport, but you’re not.

“Whatchamacallit, Serena Williams said it herself, when they [asked her], ‘how do you feel you would fare against men.’ [Williams said], ‘Men’s tennis is a completely different sport. Not even the same sport.’ From one of the greatest female athletes in our generation, let alone tennis. One of the great female athletes. She said it’s not even the same sport. Same ball, same racket, but not same sport. The speed, the velocity, the average height of the male athletes, the angles and just the serves alone changes the game. She knows her place. Obviously, Claressa doesn’t know her place and that’s why I’d have to use jab only.”

Afew days ago, Terence Crawford struck a blow of authority and positioned himself as the best pound-for-pound fighter of the moment after sweeping Errol Spencer Jr. in nine rounds to become the undisputed welterweight champion.

After overcoming that difficult step, Crawford is looking for a new challenge and has his sights set on undisputed super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo, but the latter has a commitment next September against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

Charlo will lose WBO title

Charlo will move up two divisions to face Canelo, the American will leave for a moment the super welter belts of the main bodies: WBO, WBC, IBF and WBA, but the Organization would not recognize him for not defending the crown so he would no longer be the undisputed champion.

“If any WBO Participant, including WBO World and Regional Champion, fails to comply with his contractual obligation to fight in any WBO Championship Contest without justifiable cause, the Committee may recommend to the WBO President and the Executive Committee that the fighter be stripped of the title and that the title be declared “Vacant.”

“Or the WBO may take any action deemed proper, equitable, and just against the WBO Participant in accordance with these regulations,” the WBO explained in a statement.

Whatever happens with the fight against Canelo Alvarez, Charlo will remain at 154 pounds, the boxer confirmed in an interview to Showtime.

“I want everyone to know that I’m not done at 154 pounds, but I’m ready to go for the crown,” Charlo said. “Roy was able to move up and down with no problem, he did a great job, I respect him. Now it’s my turn.”

A representative for Zhilei Zhang doesn’t have high hopes that his charge will ever get to square off against Anthony Joshua.

China’s Zhang is coming off a rousing third-round knockout of Joe Joyce in their rematch last month that was more definitive than their first encounter, in April, which ended with Zhang stopping Joyce in the sixth round.

The two consecutive wins over a once-highly regarded contender have made the Chinese southpaw a hot commodity these days within the heavyweight ranks. After the win over Joyce, Zhang immediately called out Tyson Fury, the WBC champion, to a showdown.

That match-up, however, will not materialize anytime soon since Fury has a scheduled fight with Francis Ngannou on Oct. 28, followed by a showdown with Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight championship.

Zhang’s second most desirable option is to take on London’s Joshua, a former titlist and one of the biggest stars in British sports for the past decade.

Anthony Joshua

But according to Terry Lane, a co-manager for Zhang, Joshua nor his handlers—chiefly his promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom—have any interest in that fight.

“Eddie knows,” Lane said on the YouTube channel of GFunky Boxing. “Put the contract in front of us, we’ll sign it right this second to fight AJ. We’ll sign it right this second.

“We could do it in China, we could do it in Saudi Arabia, we could do it in the UK, we have multiple options. The money’s there. This is what we want to do. I know their side—no matter what they say publicly—they want nothing to do with this fight. They want nothing to do with Zhang Zhilei. They’re so avoiding him but listen that’s the fight we want.”

Zhang (26-1-1, 21 KOs), who has two fights remaining with Queensberry Promotions, was previously promoted by Hearn’s Matchroom but they parted ways after Zhang dropped a disputed decision to Filip Hrgovic last August. Lane has suggested the likes of Joseph Parker and Luis Ortiz for Zhang’s next fight.

Hearn has indicated that Joshua (26-3, 23 KOs) could return to the ring in December

Tyson Fury has labelled Anthony Joshua a “big bum dosser” for claiming he is carrying the heavyweight division.

Joshua jokingly made the comment after picking up his first knockout win in over two years by stopping Robert Helenius in August. All signs pointed towards a mega-fight between Joshua and Deontay Wilder next, but the blockbuster match-up has been delayed yet again and won’t take place until next year at the earliest.

Fury is in the final stages of preparing to fight former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and has already agreed to an undisputed clash against Oleksandr Usyk that could take place just months after. Responding to Joshua’s comments about the division, Fury told Daily Mail Boxing : “I don’t really care what he says, he’s a bum in my opinion. He’s just a big bum dosser who’s been knocked out and had three losses.

You can’t even compare him to me anymore, it’s not even a fight, I don’t even look forward to fighting him, it’s not a fight anymore. I’m not interested. The bubble has been burst. It’s not so much interesting for me to beat AJ anymore. He’s already been beat, he’s been spanked by Usyk twice and knocked out by a fat man so it’s not of my interest to beat him.

Anthony Joshua’s and Tyson FURY

“I’m fighting a guy who’s in his prime who’s a champion, who’s bigger than him, stronger than him and who’s a bigger knockout puncher than him in Ngannou. Get to the back of the queue. The fight is off the cards, it’s gone, dead. The fight was off the cards when he got beat.”

Ngannou is being trained by ring legend Mike Tyson for his boxing debut against Fury, who was named after the youngest heavyweight world champion in history. Fury’s WBC belt won’t be on the line for the crossover fight because Ngannou is not ranked by the sanctioning body.

Tyson thinks Ngannou’s chances are being overlooked by many boxing purists and he backed the Cameroonian to pull off the impossible. “He’s able to do so much more than I anticipated. He has what it takes to knockout anything or anybody standing in his way. Once he lands a punch on Tyson Fury’s jaw he is going to knock him out too. Nobody can survive that. He’s making some money for his family,” Tyson said.
