Anthony Joshua told fans he wanted to fight three times this year, but the final bout may fall just outside of that timeframe.

Following two losses to now-unified champion, Oleksandr Usyk, Joshua got on the comeback trail under new trainer Derrick James with wins over Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius.

The goal was a fight with fellow former champ, Deontay Wilder, but a deal from Saudi Arabia-based Skill Challenge Promotions is now off the table.

There were questions as to whether or not ‘AJ’ would sit out and wait for the Wilder fight to come around with a different host nation, but promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed to Boxing Social that the plan is activity over everything.

Anthony Joshua

He says his heavyweight charge will be out again in December or January before fighting Wilder or looking to snatch up the IBF heavyweight title should it become vacant after the undisputed bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

Who Joshua faces in his next bout is up in the air, but fans will demand a solid challenge.

There’s potential to match-up with Otto Wallin, who is one ahead of him in the IBF rankings and therefore has a better claim to face mandatory challenger, Filip Hrgovic, should the belt be dropped by the winner of Fury-Usyk.

Former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr, has slammed Anthony Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn for refusing to agree to a trilogy bout with the Nigerian-born British boxer.

The 34-year-old Mexican-American boxer said his chances of a trilogy showdown with Anthony Joshua are slim, believing that promoter Eddie Hearn is still ‘traumatised’ from their first bout.

Anthony Joshua lost his WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF titles to Andy Ruiz Jr at Madison Square Garden in New York in August 2019 in a fight that shocked the boxing world. Still, he reclaimed his world heavyweight championship in Saudi Arabia by outclassing Andy Ruiz Jr December 2019.

Ever since, there has been the potential of a rubber match, and the subject is always raised when ‘AJ’ is short of an opponent.

In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Ruiz revealed that a third clash with Joshua is unlikely, saying Hearn ‘doesn’t want to fight him against anyone good’.

Anthony Joshua

“I don’t think that they want the fight, Eddie Hearn is already traumatised. He doesn’t even want to fight him against anyone good unless they are going to just try and get their money and then leave.”

“Of course, I’d fight him in the UK, I’d go over there. Remember, when I fought him in the rematch I wasn’t good, I was overweight, I forgot everything that I was [meant to be] doing in the rematch. Now, it’s a whole different ball game, now it’s all different.

All I want to do is just show my talent, hopefully next year, and everybody is going to know who the heck Andy Ruiz is again.”

Whilst Ruiz’s next move is anybody’s guess, many fans are anticipating that Joshua will target the IBF world title by next facing either Filip Hrgovic or Otto Wallin and taking one of the respective spots in a proposed contest for the vacant IBF belt, which the winner of Fury-Usyk is expected to abandon.

Anthony Joshua’s hopes of a dream match against Deontay Wilder have been dealt a significant blow. Joshua and Wilder were in talks for a fight but negotiations ultimately fell through.

And chances of the two parties sitting around the table again now appear less likely as Andy Ruiz Jr has swooped in for a match against the Bronze Bomber. Ruiz has demanded a reopening of negotiations between him and Wilder for a heavyweight battle.

And the Mexican-American bruiser appears so keen to lock horns with the 37-year-old that he hinted he could forfeit the lion’s share of the purse. Ruiz told Fight Hub TV: “Me and him [Wilder] need to negotiate.

We need to talk man-to-man, Let’s fight. “If it’s not 50-50, let’s negotiate whatever it is. Let’s make it happen. I’m going to beat your a**e.” Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott issued another blow in Joshua’s hopes of a bout against his fighter.

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua remain two of the biggest names in the heavyweight division, with clear targets on their backs for any man looking to make a statement as the next big thing.

Fury remains undefeated in his campaign, a two-time heavyweight champion who is just one fight away from challenging to become the first undisputed titlist in the division since Lennox Lewis.

That was always a goal of Joshua’s, who now has three losses to his name and is currently out of the title picture.

What both men have in common other than their nationality and superstardom is that fans want to see them fight more often and against genuine threats.

One man who could be considered as such is undefeated wrecking ball, Arslanbek Makhmudov.

The 17-0 heavyweight has ended all but one of his contests by stoppage, and an impressive 13 inside the first two rounds. He recently told Sporting Icons that he wanted the Brits on a record that is so far lacking big names.

Makhmudov will be fighting along side Fury next, albeit much further down the card.

Before the WBC Champion takes on Francis Ngannou in his crossover bout on October 28, the Russian will sharpen his tools against 19-2 Agron Smakici.

The Croatian southpaw has 18 knockouts from 20 wins, but has lost each time he has stepped up to fringe level. Should Makhmudov come through as expected, fans would like to see him in with a more challenging opponent should he want to, at 34, actually fight these top names he mentions.

Deen the Great scored a win over Walid Sharks on today’s big Misfits Boxing card, then called out both Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Ryan Garcia, who are real professional boxers and not “crossover” boxers.

Look, if you just like a fight and some action and don’t need to believe you’re watching Elite Fighters, this was a blast.

Deen the Great dominated the majority of this fight and got two second round knockdowns, but Walid was tough, hung in there, and closed huge, hurting a gassed Deen late in the fifth and final round, and Deen basically had to survive this thing until the final bell.

It was just good action. Just a good fight. And Deen has some legitimate decent boxing skills, too, at least offensively. He and Walid both were in shape, took this seriously, and deserve respect for the best effort they could give and a lot of grit and heart on display.

Deen’s left hand wasn’t a big factor here, and for much of the fight he was fighting one-handed. It appeared to possibly be a hand or wrist issue, but he said after the fight it was an old shoulder dislocation that popped out again.

“Gervonta Davis, if you want to scrap, you want to run it, let’s run it, let’s make this bread,” he said. “Because nobody else in the influencer scene can fuck with me. Or if Ryan wants to run it — Ryan Garcia, anybody, anybody can get it.”

The call-out of Davis or Garcia is obviously going to get headlines — it got one here, look! — but what a hideous idea that would be for him even if it were actually. To say those guys would demolish him is an understatement. As TLC once sang, “Don’t go chasin’ waterfalls.”

Garcia didn’t take long to respond:

If anyone knows how difficult it is to become a world champion, it’s Floyd Mayweather. He may have grabbed a title in five different divisions but none of it came easy.

Becoming a belt holder isn’t easy. Nor is it an accomplishment that every fighter checks off their to-do list. In the case of Curmel Moton, nevertheless, not only does Mayweather believe that he’ll get it done, he was also hoping to get his young star to do it in his first professional fight.

Mayweather placed the biggest target he could find on the back of Leigh Wood, the current WBA featherweight champ. His goal was simple, get Wood to fight Moton in his pro debut. Ultimately, Mayweather’s plans never gained any real traction.

Wood (28-3, 17 KOs) flat-out wasn’t interested. A two-time world champion fighting a 17-year-old newbie? It simply didn’t make any sense. So, with Wood not going for it, Moton made his pro debut against Ezequiel Flores. He made quick work of his man, getting rid of him in the opening round.

Curmel Moton

Now, with Mayweather looking for his next opponent, Moton is hoping that Wood will be willing to step up to the plate.

“I’m still looking forward to fighting Leigh Wood,” Moton told FightHype.com during a recent interview.

Wood isn’t likely to take the bait. He’s fresh off a knockout win over Josh Warrington. Although it’s conjecture, the 35-year-old has one helluva argument when discussing the best fighter at 126 pounds.

At this point, it doesn’t quite matter who Moton matches up with. He already revealed that he’ll return to the ring in November. Getting punched in the face seems like a rough way to make a living. For Moton, however, he enjoys every minute of it.

“I had fun in there. I’m looking forward to doing it again.”

Amanda Serrano, Puerto Rico’s pride, reigns as the undisputed Featherweight world champion since 2019. In addition to a remarkable Guinness World Record, she has won 9 major world titles across seven diverse weight classes. No wonder she is the trailblazing female champion from Puerto Rico. The boxer will defend her undisputed Featherweight champion status against Danila Ramos in a never-before bout with a twist.

With less than 2 weeks left for her showdown against Ramos, Serrano appears with Terence Crawford at the World Boxing Organization Convention for a picture. How did the interactions go?

Amanda Serrano takes inspiration from Terence Crawford

At the age of 38, Ramos has participated in three “interim” title bouts during her career. She faced a unanimous decision loss to Elhem Mekhaled for the WBC interim junior lightweight title in 2019 and later experienced a split decision defeat to Katharina Thanderz for the same title in the same year. However, she managed to secure victory against Carabajal for the “interim” WBO Featherweight title in August.

“Bud” successfully defended his Welterweight title five times and his wins include matches against Jose Benavidez Jr., Amir Khan, Egidijus Kavaliauskas, Kell Brook, and Shawn Porter. The upcoming bout will be Serrano’s 4th title defence. She is eager to catch up to Crawford. “I’m Finally here in The Dominican Republic at the @WorldBoxingOrg convention with my buddy & partner in Fighter of the yr the 1 & Only @terencecrawford. He has the record of 5 times I’m closing in w/4 lol. Always a pleasure sharing with this Legend BUD Crawford “ said the first undisputed Puerto Rican Champion on her X account

Changing the women’s boxing landscape

Serrano, the undisputed Featherweight champion, is set to defend her three world titles against the mandatory WBO challenger, Ramos on October 27 in Orlando, Florida. This historic bout will feature 12 three-minute rounds instead of the standard 10 two-minute rounds. This will mark the first women’s unified championship fight conducted under men’s regulations. The step-up is a major one. Such a change could boost women’s boxing’s appeal significantly. It’s important to note that shorter fight times can lead to fewer stoppages and knockouts, elements celebrated in the sport and often utilized for publicity. The new regulations take care of this drawback.

As Serrano lauds Crawford for being one of the best, she is making history herself. With an indomitable spirit, she pulls women’s boxing forward with her. How do you think this unconventional fight will go down

Andy Ruiz has weighed in with his prediction for the recently signed undisputed heavyweight world title clash between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

Though no one is writing off Usyk’s chances in the fight, most see Fury as a clear favourite, mainly due to the height and weight advantage he will be afforded on the night.

And Ruiz admitted to Fight Hub TV that though he has little doubt Fury will win, it’s down to having more skill and ability, rather than him simply being a larger man.

He also unsurprisingly added that he believes he is the man to dethrone ‘The Gypsy King.

tyson fury and oleksandr usyk

Ruiz had been linked to a fight with Fury earlier this year, though the Brit and his representatives claimed he priced himself out of the negotiation process.

A similar accusation was labelled at ‘The Destroyer’ from Deontay Wilder’s team, though he has refuted this and claimed it was Wilder who was wanting too much money.

As for Fury vs Usyk, it will take place in Saudi Arabia, though there is not expected to be a date announced until after the former’s novelty bout with MMA star Francis Ngannou later this month.

It will be the first undisputed heavyweight world title fight since Lennox Lewis vs Evander Holyfield in 1999, and is a legacy defining occasion for both Fury and Usyk.

John Fury has revealed that Anthony Joshua can only fight his son Tyson Fury, if he beats Deontay Wilder in their highly anticipated fight.

Negotiations for a Joshua vs Wilder clash in Saudi Arabia have stalled for months now, with alternative locations like Las Vegas or London now being explored.

However, Fury senior has made it clear that the only path to a match with his son Tyson, popularly known as the Gypsy King is through Deontay Wilder.

“The only way that can happen is if he beats Deontay Wilder,” John told Mail Sport. “If AJ wants to face Tyson, let him defeat Wilder. No one wants Wilder. They can’t take Wilder’s power.”

John Fury believes that many fighters are avoiding Wilder due to his tough punching power, but he maintains that facing him is the ticket for a fight against Tyson Fury.

“They’re going to have to line up and do something big. Tyson went to everyone’s backyard to get them titles. If Joshua beats Wilder, that fight can be made in 30 seconds.

“But at the moment it’s dead in the water because he doesn’t deserve it. He can’t face a few bums and face the Gypsy King, can he? I know the public wants to see it but let him earn it,” he reiterated.

Meanwhile, Tyson Fury has two tough bouts lined up for him already. He is set to face Francis Ngannou on October 28 and, afterward, will take on Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight world titles, scheduled tentatively for late this year or in early 2024.

Devoted to helping Curmel Moton reach his full potential, Floyd Mayweather had taken him under his wing as his protege. Moton’s rise in the boxing arena became impossible to ignore after his remarkable professional debut victory against Ezequiel Flores. Inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the young prodigy showcased his vigor and skill with an unparalleled passion. He surprisingly defeated Flores with ease by securing a first-round knockout.

Meanwhile, the Shakur StevensonDevin Haney feud has been going on for a while now. Sadly, we will not get the chance to see the two inside the ring hurling punches at each other. Stevenson moved on to Gervonta Davis after closing the chapter on Haney. Let us find out what the youngest addition to the world of professional boxing has to say about a few of his seniors.

Stevenson had earlier declined a fight against Haney due to a low 25% purse offer. Following this, they both had a verbal feud on social media till the two-division world champion decided he wanted to take on Davis instead. According to Stevenson, a match between him and Davis would be the most significant boxing event when it occurs. The Mayweather next gen has voiced out his opinions on this.
