‘AJ’ has been promised an undisputed world title shot after his KO win against Francis Ngannou and becoming a three-time world champion could push back his retirement plan

Anthony Joshua has been backed to stay in boxing until the age of 40 if he becomes a three-time world champion.

Joshua is next in line for a shot at the undisputed world titles after his one-sided KO win against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou. ‘AJ’ has turned over a new leaf in his career since losing twice to Oleksandr Usyk and he could face the Ukrainian for the third time or finally meet in the ring with Tyson Fury, depending on the result of their undisputed clash next month.

Some fans think ‘AJ’ is back to his old destructive style since partnering with Fury’s old trainer Ben Davison and one of Joshua’s sparring partners has admitted he is now full of confidence. “I don’t think AJ was scared before. The difference is he’s very confident,” Jeamie TKV told Boxing News.

“He believes in what Ben and Lee Wylie are teaching him. That’s what gives him the confidence to do what he’s doing. I just feel like AJ’s going to be a three-time world champion and the way he’s moving he’s added three maybe five years to his career.” Jeamie is no stranger to sparring Joshua as he helped the Brit train for several of his wins last year.

“It was great. Do you know what, I enjoyed camp with him. It was fun. We had a good time in sparring. Some of my best fun spars. I just really enjoyed the spar, he enjoyed it too. I came in the last two weeks of camp, and did a lot of sparring with him. AJ was sharp and strong. It was fun,” he added.

Fury and Usyk have a two-fight deal regardless of who wins their fight on May 18 in Saudi Arabia, meaning ‘AJ’ is unlikely to fight for the undisputed belts until next year. Fury’s promoter Frank Warren named March as the most likely month for the domestic dust-up if Fury is able to get past Usyk.

“Next March, if Tyson does what I believe he’ll do and AJ continues to win, I’m sure that’ll set up a big fight. “It’s like going back to the late 60s, 70s, that’s what’s happening now. These guys are all fighting each other,” Warren told Sky Sports whilst also admitting the fight will likely take place in Saudi Arabia instead of the UK.

DEONTAY WILDER’s long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua was scuppered by his use of PSYCHEDELIC drugs, his head coach has stunningly claimed.

The former WBC heavyweight champion was on course to have back-to-back multi-million-pound dust-ups with AJ before his Riyadh rumble with Joseph Parker last December.

But a gun-shy Bronze Bomber turned in a stinker of a performance against the Kiwi and has seemingly forever scuppered one of the biggest fights in the history of the heavyweight division.

And head coach Malik Scott has claimed he turned in disaster of a display as multiple doses of Ayahuasca in recent years have dampened his appetite for destruction.

The American told Instant Casino: “I think Deontay has a killer instinct in him that you can’t suppress, but I think he enjoyed Ayahuasca.

“I think that it possibly did not match the attitude needed in the ring.

“Because like he said, it made him a bit content and made him have an understanding of the smaller and softer things in life.

“And if you’re in that type of space then violence is not a top priority.

“But when you’re in a boxing ring violence has got to be [the] top priority.

“Violence wasn’t a top priority that night and I think that’s why we came up short.

“Deontay is a killer, he’s violent, he wants to put holes through you when he punches you, that Deontay didn’t show up that night, he couldn’t pull the trigger.”

Wilder has openly spoken about his use of Ayahuasca, a popular South American psychoactive drug.

Ahead of his Saudi showdown with Parker, the 38-year-old claimed he felt “reborn” after taking the substance.

Wilder will look to get his career back on track this summer in a crunch clash with Chinese clubber Zhilei Zhang.

And Scott is adamant the shell of the Alabama slammer that turned up against Parker won’t be who throws down with Zhang.

He continued: “That’s not the fighter you’re going to see in his next fight.

“He’s taken the initiative to start training way earlier. He knows our back is up against the wall and we know what we need to do.

Everything is at stake, not his legacy, he’s already a legend, but concerning becoming two-time heavyweight champion, that part of his legacy is on the line now.”

Scott added: “I do not have less belief in him, it was just a bad night at the office, I’ve seen the best of them have those nights.

“Zhang is dangerous, but I’m very comfortable and happy with the fight because big Zhang is someone who makes you stay alert and makes you stay elusive.

“He’s a big man and he can punch but we know what we have to do to operate on him and do surgery on him and that’s what we are going to do.

“Deontay is a killer, he’s violent, he wants to put holes through you when he punches you, that Deontay didn’t show up that night, he couldn’t pull the trigger.”

Wilder’s old coach believes a psychedelic medicine played a role in his old fighter missing out on a £100 million double bout

Deontay Wilder‘s chances of landing handsomely-paid fights with Anthony Joshua were scuppered by Ayahuasca, according to the American’s former coach.

Wilder was on course to fight long-time rival Joshua in a £100 million two-fight series ahead of his defeat to Joseph Parker last December. Wilder produced a disastrous fight against Parker that scuppered the Joshua fights, and a former coach thinks he knows why.

Wilder’s old coach Malik Scott believes the use of psychedelic medicine Ayahuasca has played a role in Wilder’s reduced hunger for violence in the ring.

Scott told Instant Casino: “I think Deontay has a killer instinct in him that you can’t suppress, but I think he enjoyed Ayahuasca. I think that it possibly did not match the attitude needed in the ring.

The comeback

Wilder is now reportedly preparing to take on Zhilei Zhang, and Scott believes his old fighter will be a man reborn as he looks to get his career back on track.

“That’s not the fighter you’re going to see in his next fight,” he added. “He’s taken the initiative to start training way earlier. He knows our back is up against the wall and we know what we need to do.

“It’s going to be a surgical performance. What I really like about the fight is how dangerous Zhang is, a very dangerous opponent and that’s going to make Deontay even better.”

One fighter suffered a bad defeat recently.

Rolando Romero was stopped by Isaac Cruz on Saturday, but that hasn’t stopped the Las Vegas fighter from still aiming high when he returns.

Romero lost his world title to the relentless Mexican and he now has two defeats on his record after a previous defeat to Gervonta Davis in 2022.

The goal now for Romero is to become world champion once again and he’s vowed to do that when speaking on social media.

Romero will likely get future opportunities due to his popularity and he’s promising to return stronger once he’s digested his most recent setback.

“I want to congratulate Pitbull on a great fight and achieving his dream of becoming a world champion,” wrote Romero on Instagram.

“I promise I will be back better and stronger than ever to further prove to myself and naysayers that I belong at the top level of the sport with the best of them.”

Gervonta Davis pushed his pedal to the metal for his upcoming fight in June. He’s currently indulged in training and decided to share some snippets of his preparation with the boxing fans. As of now, he’s, reportedly, signed a deal with the PBC to fight against Frank Martin on June 15th. However, these dates are still supposed to be tentative.

Even if Davis hits the canvas on this date, it’ll be almost 14 months since he had participated in a boxing fight. As for Frank Martin, it would be around an 11-month break before he gets inside the ring again. So, both fighters haven’t been fighting for a long time now, and they must train hard to get rid of the rust. Well, it’s safe to say, Davis has gotten serious about it.

Gervonta Davis trains in style

In his latest Instagram Post, Gervonta Davis shared 10 pictures from inside and outside of his gym in Houston, Texas. In all of the pictures, one thing was common and that’s the unique style of Davis. In the first picture, ‘Tank’ donned Balenciaga pants with nothing on top, smiling with his trainer Calvin Ford. Then he wore a camouflage cap in the sixth photo.

However, the eighth one remained the fan-favorite, where Davis had a chrome hearts bag hung up on his shoulders while he looked at his phone’s screen. Besides all of this, Davis seems locked in for his upcoming bout, as he wrote somewhat of a poem in the caption, “The money I want non negotiable.. I’m uncontrollable, unacceptable, unapproachable ..if you only knew, im one of the chosen few!

Even though Davis vs. Martin is the news at hand, the fans showered the comments section about his Chrome Hearts bag and urged him to fight Shakur Stevenson instead.

Fans keep their demands in front of ‘Tank’ Davis

Gervonta Davis isn’t just a hard hitter in the ring, he’s a trendsetter outside of it. His latest Instagram post showcased photos from his gym session, but it was his eye-catching chrome heart bag that stole the show for many fans.

Davis, known for his flamboyant style, has struck a chord with fans who appreciate his fashion choices alongside his fighting prowess. One commented, “Chrome heart bag is crazy.

Well, the other one also resonated with this sentiment, and they also mentioned the stylish bag on Davis’s shoulders. They wrote, “Chrome hearts bag is tuffffff.

However, some weren’t interested in a fashion critique. They made their fight preferences, “Fight Shakur or shut up.

These fans are eager to see Davis step into the ring with Shakur Stevenson, a potential super fight that has been a topic of discussion for a while now. Another one also wrote, “You vs Shakur next give the people what they want.

While Shakur might be the ultimate dream fight for some, Davis has more immediate business to settle against Frank Martin. One supporter confidently declared, “u gon knock frank martin out.”

Gervonta Davis, it seems, can’t escape the fight spotlight, even when his focus is on training. Whether fans are critiquing his chrome heart swag or demanding a future showdown with Shakur Stevenson, Davis will always keep the fans talking about him. What are your thoughts on Davis’s photos? Sebastian Fundora is already on the clock for his first title defense.

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has ordered its newly crowned 154-pound titlist to next face three-division champ Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford. The ruling was applied per the conditional terms by the sanctioning body in its approval for Fundora to challenge previously unbeaten titlist Tim Tszyu.

Fundora won their blood-soaked March 30 bout via split decision to dethrone Tszyu. He also picked up the vacant WBC 154-pound title with the win. A separate mandatory title defense will come with that, though irrelevant to the present task at hand.

Please be advised that March 25, 2024, this Committee granted sanction approval of the Tszyu/Fundora WBO [title fight],” WBO Championship Committee chairman Luis Batista-Salas noted in a ruling obtained by The Ring. “Sanction approval was granted subject to the winner facing next the Mandatory Challenger in the Jr. Middleweight Division, Terence “Bud” Crawford within 180 days after the Tszyu/Fundora bout.

“The foregoing condition was essential for purposes of sanction approval. Therefore, in light of the above and per WBO Regulations of World Championship Contests, the parties are hereby ordered to commence negotiations for the WBO Mandatory Jr. Middleweight Championship.”

The negotiation period will officially begin on Friday, five business days from the March 30 Prime Video Pay-Per-View headliner. Fundora and Crawford will have until April 25 to reach terms and avoid a purse bid hearing.

Australia’s Tszyu (24-1, 17 knockouts), No. 2 at 154 (come Tuesday), was previously set to face former 147-pound titlist Keith Thurman in a non-title fight. Those plans were changed when Thurman suffered a torn biceps roughly two weeks out from fight night.

Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) raced to not only salvage the show but strengthen the overall lineup.

Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs), No. at 154 (come Tuesday), was scheduled to meet Serhii Bohachuk (24-1, 23 KOs), currently No. 10, in the PPV opener. Their bout was to come with the vacant WBC 154-pound title at stake. A switch was made for Fundora to challenge Tszyu, though politics briefly threatened to get in the way of the fight.

WBO officials were hesitant to sanction the billed unification bout, since it still recognizes Ring/lineal champion Jermell Charlo as the WBC champ. Houston’s Charlo (35-2-1, 19 KOs) has relinquished all four major sanctioning body titles, including the WBC where he is now ‘Champion in Recess.’

Support was conditionally offered by the WBC despite its initial resistance. It came on the basis that the winner immediately committed to a mandatory title defense versus Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs). The ruling was made after Crawford, The Ring 147-pound champ and pound-for-pound king, enforced his WBO ‘Super Champion’ status. The designation permits its claimants to immediately challenge for a title in a separate weight division during the ordered mandatory period.

On the surface, the order complicates the suggested plans from Saturday’s show.

Fundora was joined in the ring after his win by former unified welterweight titlist Errol Spence (28-1, 22 KOs), No. 1 at 147. It was heavily suggested prior to Saturday that Spence would face the winner of the main event. That theme carried over into the post-fight in-ring interview.

However, there was a difference of opinion between then and the post-fight press conference.

Fundora informed media that he wanted to next face Crawford. It came in stark contrast to claims made by Sampson Lewkowicz, Fundora’s promoter who stood the party line and insisted Fundora-Spence made the most business sense.

Such a fight will reduce his title load to one, however.

There is also the matter of a deserved Fundora-Tszyu rematch.

Tszyu accepted the makeshift title defense on twelve days’ notice. It came versus an opponent whose physical dimensions required an overhaul at the tail end of training camp. Tszyu prepared for a 5’7” orthodox fighter and career welterweight in Thurman. Fundora is a nearly 6’6” southpaw and a natural junior middleweight.

An early lead evaporated when Tszyu struggled to fight through pouring blood from a cut high atop his scalp. Tszyu inadvertently fell into Fundora’s left elbow during the opening round, which caused the gusher.

Fundora suffered a broken nose from a legal Tszyu punch in the opening round.

Tszyu won on the scorecard of judge Tim Cheatham (116-112). It was overruled by judges Steve Weisfeld (116-112) and David Sutherland (115-113) for Fundora, who made history with the win. At just under 6’6”, he became the tallest fighter ever to win a portion of the 154-pound crown. His victory came while younger sister Gabriela Fundora holds the IBF flyweight title. The two are now the first brother-sister tandem to simultaneously hold major titles.

That dynamic will remain in play, no matter how things shake out with the WBO.

Fundora will still hold the WBC title, though he should technically have to honor a mandatory over there as well.

Bohachuk soundly outpointed Brian Mendoza (22-4, 16 KOs) over twelve rounds to win the interim 154-pound title. The Ukrainian contender was previously due to challenge for the full belt versus Fundora. A deal was struck with his team, including Tom Loeffler of 360 Promotions, to fight for the interim title.

A pre-fight declaration was made by the WBC that the winners of its two title fights would be ordered to meet. That order was not yet publicly made, nor expected anytime soon given recent business trends.

Should Fundora fail to honor the WBO order, Crawford—who has won Ring championships at 135, 140 and 147—will be in line to challenge for the vacant belt. A bid to become a four-division titlist would then come versus the next highest ranked available challenger.

England’s Josh Kelly (15-1-1, 8 KOs) is currently the WBO No. 1-ranked 154-pound contender. However, it is not yet known where Tszyu will land in the next ratings update.

British Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua has significantly increased his wealth, nearing a $100 million boost in career earnings from boxing matches.

According to data compiled by Nairametrics, Joshua recently earned over $50 million (£30 million) for his recent heavyweight bout against Francis Ngannou.

In 2023, Forbes reported that Joshua earned approximately $53 million, including his three victories against Jermaine Franklin.

Additionally, financial records from Joshua’s Sparta Promotions company reveal an impressive £41.3 million earned in the 2022/23 financial year.

This substantial figure excludes earnings from the Helenius and Wallin fights, and it is estimated that Joshua secured around £10 million for both of those victories.

Contrastingly, Ngannou, who earned $20 million, made his ring debut against Tyson Fury in October, experiencing a controversial defeat despite knocking down the heavyweight champion. Following his loss to Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia, Ngannou issued an apology to his fans.

The Cameroonian fighter faced a knockout defeat in the second round against the former world heavyweight champion.

About Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua, the British-Nigerian boxer, enjoyed an undefeated streak in his first 22 professional fights and held the world heavyweight champion title from 2016 to 2019. However, a surprising loss to Andy Ruiz Jr. marked a temporary setback in 2019. Joshua swiftly avenged the defeat later that year with a unanimous decision.

Facing two defeats against Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022, Joshua rebounded with a victory over Jermaine Franklin in April 2023, showcasing his resilience and determination in the ring. Despite facing challenges, he has consistently demonstrated the ability to overcome setbacks and return to winning form.

Beyond his achievements in the boxing industry, Joshua commands a massive social media presence, boasting 26 million followers collectively on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

It’s been nearly a year since the audience last saw him in the ring. But the prolonged wait may finally come to an end. After the sensational knockout triumph over Ryan GarciaAbdul Wahid (previously Gervonta Davis) may finally make a comeback. Per the available accounts, an agreement has been reached between him and Frank Martin for a fight, tentatively by the second quarter of this year. The latter’s WBA lightweight title could be at stake. Discussions over the match’s outcome have already started making appearances across social media. Curmel Moton also shared his two bits on the matter.

He is one of the most prodigious hands to have come out of the Mayweather stable. The teenage sensation scored his third professional victory on the Tim TszyuSebastian Fundora headliner the day before yesterday. The details regarding the ‘Tank’ and Martin match-up have yet to receive any confirmation. However, Moton minced no words when a reporter tried to gauge his views on the potential Abdul Wahid, whom Mayweather Promotions used to promote until 2022, and Martin line-up.

Curmel Moton: Will ‘Tank’ roll over ‘The Ghost’?

‘Champside’ caught up with the Salt Lake City-born boxer. The reporter asked, “Can I get a prediction on uh Tank versus Frank from you if if that fight were to come?” Curmel Moton replied that it would be a great fight. The way he saw it, Martin might be able to take the lead in the initial few rounds. He clarified that the reason he thought so was because the Baltimorean has shown in the past a tendency to sacrifice a few rounds in bouts.

Uh, I think it’s going to be a great match uh I feel like Frank will probably get the first few rounds; we know Tank give away rounds a lot,” said Moton. However, he added that ‘Tank’ won’t take much time before, using his vast experience, he will catch up with ‘The Ghost’ and force his will to win the contest. The Mayweather boxer said, “I feel like he’ll probably catch him, uh, he used to experience, and catch him later on in the fight and take get the dub.

Abdul Wahid remains, arguably, one of the ‘faces of boxing’. The mere suggestion of his return and fight talks seems to have sent fans and followers into excitement. It may be too far-fetched to consider the bout for a detailed debate. However, it doesn’t do any harm either to check with those whose business concludes with the exchange of blows in the ring.

A Three-Fight Giant

Curmel Moton professionally debuted on September 30. He scored a first-round knockout win over Ezequiel Flores on the Canelo Alvarez and Jermell Charlo undercard. Two months later, he was back to face Hunter Turbyfill at the David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade headline event. The second match followed the previous fight’s pattern, with Moton dispatching Turbyfill in the opening round of their match. In the latest edition, he defeated Los Angeles-born Anthony Cuba by a unanimous decision. Yesterday, he even shared a post that showed him standing fourteenth in the BoxRec rankings.

Tyson Fury has been warned by former opponent Steve Cunningham that he could be disqualified against Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury is just over six weeks away from his undisputed heavyweight world title fight against Usyk that was originally supposed to take place in February, but was pushed back after Fury was cut in sparring. Fury is hoping to put on a better performance than he did in his last fight against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou, when he was dropped and only won by a single point.

“I believe Ngannou only looked as good as he did fighting Fury because Fury didn’t take fighting an MMA guy seriously. Ngannou does have unbelievable power, though. He landed a clean shot on Fury, who wasn’t in shape at all. I was surprised at that but not at the fact that Fury got up and outpointed him,” Cunningham told World Boxing News.

Fury fought Cunningham over a decade ago and fought back after being dropped to win by stoppage. “I think Usyk wins by decision against Fury. Either that or Fury gets disqualified. Fury’s going to have to lean and lay all over Usyk to tire him down as he does usually. I think the referee will be alerted to this before the fight [by team Usyk] and Fury will lose points,” Cunningham added.

Fury or Usyk will be crowned as the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999 and their fight could be scored by six judges instead of three to try and avoid any judging controversies. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman is concerned about the possibility of a bad scorecard ruining the fight and has proposed the major rule change.

If Fury is able to get past Usyk it means a fight between him and Anthony Joshua could finally be made after nearly a decade of build-up. Joshua did what Fury couldn’t in his last fight by knocking out Ngannou but Fury scoffed at claims that Joshua is currently the best heavyweight in boxing.

“I’m sure that Oleksandr Usyk will have something to say about that given he beat him twice,” Fury said. “For the actual real boxing, it’s me and Usyk who fight for the undisputed heavyweight world championship of the world. I had a s*** performance against Ngannou, that’s what a boxer should have done with him, but if he fights next year it’ll be a different game.”

Tyson Fury has been told he risks being disqualified during his much-anticipated fight against Oleksandr Usyk.

Originally, the pair were due to fight in February but the bout was called off after Fury suffered a cut above the eye during a sparring session.

As a result, the fight was rescheduled to take place on May 18 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Ahead of the fight, Fury has been warned by his former opponent Steve Cunningham that he could be disqualified against Usyk.

He told World Boxing News: “I believe Ngannou only looked as good as he did fighting Fury because Fury didn’t take fighting an MMA guy seriously. Ngannou does have unbelievable power, though. He landed a clean shot on Fury, who wasn’t in shape at all. I was surprised at that but not at the fact that Fury got up and outpointed him.

“I think Usyk wins by decision against Fury. Either that or Fury gets disqualified. Fury’s going to have to lean and lay all over Usyk to tire him down as he does usually. I think the referee will be alerted to this before the fight [by team Usyk] and Fury will lose points.”

It has been expected that if Fury manages to beat Usyk, a fight against fellow Brit Anthony Joshua could finally happen.

Speaking about a potential bout with Joshua, Fury previously said: “I’m sure that Oleksandr Usyk will have something to say about that given he beat him twice.

“For the actual real boxing, it’s me and Usyk who fight for the undisputed heavyweight world championship of the world. I had a s*** performance against Ngannou, that’s what a boxer should have done with him, but if he fights next year it’ll be a different game.”

Last time out, Fury had to dig deep to get the better of former UFC champion Francis Ngannou, with the boxing champion coming out on top via decision.
