Charlie Woods, son of the legendary Tiger Woods, added another trophy to the already impressive collection of honors his family has received. Charlie’s squad, the Benjamin High School Buccaneers, took home the 1A classification 2023 Florida High School Athletic Association State Championship on Wednesday.

Even though his team won the game, the 14-year-old placed 26th in the individual standings. He contributed to his team’s championship victory with two rounds of 78 and 76.

Interestingly, Tiger Woods was present at the venue to cheer for his son and support him. PGA Tour shared the news about Charlie’s team winning the FHSAASC on its X account with a caption, saying:

Fans jumped into the comments section to say that Charlie is a rising star. One user commented:

Charlie Woods, the 14-year-old son of Tiger Woods, not only impressed fans with his swing at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles on Thursday, he also left them pleasantly surprised due to the teen’s resemblance to a feline.

Charlie momentarily stole the attention from the 2023 US Open going on at the neighboring Los Angeles Country Club and then again on social media.

Pro golf instructor Lucas Wald shared the video of Charlie teeing off at Riviera to his Instagram account and joked that he must have a great coach.

Tiger has been coaching Charlie all his life, much like his father did for him before passing away in 2006.

Charlie was then spotted at LACC to enjoy the opening round of this year’s major tournament in the United States.

Some users were not as focused on his swing. With comments like “little cat” in the original post, fans couldn’t help but notice Charlie’s resemblance to a feline.

“I’m saying this with the upmost respect,” one user tweeted. “Charlie looks like a feline that has taken form as a human. At least in this shot anyway. Being TIGER’S son and all, it basically solidifies he will have an unbelievable golf career. Look forward to watching it.”

The golf world has seen a lot of prodigies prove their mettle on the greens in spectacular fashion. The same has been the case with the son of Tiger Woods, as he strived to carry out his father’s legacy by proving his skills on the course each time he stepped foot on it. However, this time around, Charlie Woods was beaten by another golfer, Lucky Cruz.

Cruz managed to emerge victorious at the Notah Begay III Junior Golf Championship that took place not too long ago. This, of course, has made many in the golf world curious about the athlete who dealt a severe blow to the legend’s son. So who exactly is Cruz? Put simply, he’s a genius on the course!

All you need to know about Lucky Cruz, the golfer who dethroned Charlie Woods

Cruz was able to propel himself to the leaderboard in the 14-15 division of the NB3 National Championship by registering 11-under 202 over the three rounds, three strokes ahead of the runner-up. The Texas native was able to overshadow Woods’ 14-year-old son, who finished at T17 with a score of 215 (+2).

As per his father, the aspiring athlete was homeschooled and is currently headed into his senior year of High School, majoring in Physics. He started playing the game at the age of 5 after his father introduced him to the sport. The genius golfer became interested in the same after playing a ton of Tiger Woods video games, leading him to become the only player ever to make it to Coushatta in all four editions of the National Championship. What’s more, Cruz is also committed to the University of Houston, where he is set to play in January 2025.

Well, it does take a talented athlete to top the field of players, including golfers such as the 82X PGA Tour winner’s son. Moreover, it does pique the interest of the golf community in the other accolades that the young champ was able to pull off.

Cruz’s achievements show that he is a prodigy in the making

Cruz was able to qualify for all the televised golf events he played, including the Notah Begay III, the Faldo Series, and the Drive Chip & Putt Championship. In addition, he was able to participate in the Houston Open Qualifier and the PGA Pro & Jr. Am. Moreover, he was able to play with the likes of Clyde Drexler, Reggie Barclay, and Gary Carter, among others, in a bid to raise money for the teenager’s nonprofits, including LuckySwing.org and HeartSupport.

While the young genius was able to emerge triumphant in his age group, a lot of other golfers were able to claim victory in theirs. Under the 12-13 age division, Maverick Midthun was able to come out on top with 200 (-13), while Mykhailo Golod won in the 16-18 group, scoring 6 under 202. Kai Molina was able to top the leaderboard in the 10-11 range. Well, one thing is for sure: The future of golf is in good hands.

Charlie Woods is following in the footsteps of his father and golf legend Tiger Woods. Currently participating at the Notah Begay III Junior Golf Championship at the Koasati Pines at Coushatta, Charlie Woods’ performance has been impressive so far.

With dad Tiger Woods on the bag for him this weekend, Charlie took a confident shot off the first tee at the short par 4. As the announcer took Charlie’s name, he stepped up to the tee and hit the ball very well.

His father provided him with words of encouragement as they walked down the course, saying:

This has been Tiger Woods’ first appearance in a long time; he underwent surgery in April. Now caddying for his son, Woods was seen walking without a limp, which prompted speculation among golf fans about whether he would make a comeback soon.

The golfing world has been rife with news related to the son of the legend of the game, Tiger Woods. The 14-year-old has been able to carry out his father’s legacy on the greens leaving many in the golfing world surprised and in awe of his skills.

The father-son duo is currently readying themselves for the Notah Begay III Junior Golf Championship. The event set to take place at Coushatta will see Woods carry the bags for his kid who qualified for the same after emerging victorious at the Last Chance Florida Regional (Boys).

However, in a post uploaded to Twitter, the 82X PGA Tour winner was spotted on the course in Louisiana. The video of the professional was taken as he went ahead to engage in a practice session with his son ahead of the

The 47-year-old has been helping the young prodigy as he aims to propel his career forward with amazing performances on the greens. This was the case, as well, during the 14-15 division of the NB3 National Championship’s qualifying event as the 1997 Masters Tournament champ was seen carrying the bags and offering advice to his son amid the same.

One can’t help but look on in hope as the news about the 15X major champion shines a light on the legend’s comeback to the game. Moreover, this is not the first time that he was spotted by his fans on and off the greens!

Tiger Woods and his post-recovery appearances

The golfer is rumored to make a comeback at the upcoming Hero World Challenge in December, as per reports. And, adding to the speculation are instances when the PGA Tour Pro makes an appearance both on and off the course.

A tweet of Mr.T was shared showcasing the 47-year-old professional climbing down the stairs at the TGR-designed golf course, in El Cadonal, Mexico, all the while showing positive signs of his recovery. The 3X U.S. Open champ was also seen checking the layout on a golf cart, a little while back, ahead of the Worldwide Technology Championship, with the management team.

Charlie Woods wrapped up his participation in the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship on Monday. He had another good performance with a third round that could have been signed by his father.

The son of Tiger Woods shot a bogey-free round at the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship on Monday. This is an excellent result for a player his age (junior, 14-15).

Charlie Woods’ third round included 3 birdies. It was good for the second-best third round of the tournament, tied with several other players.

The final score for the young Woods was 2-over 215. That put him in a tie for 17th out of 38 players in the 14-15 age group. The winner was Lucky Cruz with an 11-under 202.

In the combined 14-18 age group, Woods finished T35 out of 88 players. Of those players, 13 were the same age as Charlie, and two were younger

The event was played over 54 holes at the Koasati Pines Course in the Coushatta Casino Resort in Louisiana. Throughout the three rounds, legend Tiger Woods was seen tending to his son’s bag.

Charlie Woods has golf in his blood and his genes. Apart from his Dad’s legendary legacy, the high schooler is already making his own mark on the Junior Tour by winning the South Florida PGA High School Championship.

Woods managed to lead his team, the Benjamin School Buccaneers, to the team championship while winning an individual title on his own. After firing a 65 that included nine birdies and equated to a 7-under round, Charlie more than solidified that he would be living up to the task of being a golfing Woods.

The Benjamin School was led by Woods with a 65, Tyler Bruneua with a 70, Aiden Miller with a 72, and Luke Wise with a 74, which helped catapult the Buccaneers to a five-shot victory over Somerset Academy.

Charlie also took home the individual title in the Boy’s division. The event was rain-shortened and only counted round one scores as the second round was unable to be completed.

The performance comes just a week after Woods took home a championship in the Last Chance Regional, which helped him earn a spot at the Notah Begay III National Championship, the premier tournament in Junior Golf.

Woods had Dad on the bag for that victory, which he secured with an eight-footer on the last hole to secure a win in the 14-15 age division.

Charlie Woods has been tipped by many to follow in his father’s footsteps after the pair linked up at the PNC Championship in Florida over the weekend

Charlie Woods has been tipped to earn huge sponsorship money even if he never plays professional golf.

Woods, 13, caught the eye over the weekend as he teamed up with father Tiger at the PNC Championship, with his approach and swing drawing similarities with the golf legend

Tiger has previously insisted he would not put any pressure on his son to follow in his footsteps as he competes in junior competitions across the States.

But even if he doesn’t turn pro, Woods could earn eye-watering amounts of money through NIL contracts – related to his name, image and likeness – as has been seen with college sports stars in recent months.

Charlie is in rare air, just from name recognition alone. He’s similar to Arch Manning, Bronny James and even Shaquille O’Neal’s sons in that way. He’s probably looking at seven figures as soon as he’s eligible,” NIL Platform Opendorse director Sam Weber said.

“He’s not a risk for advertisers because of his name recognition alone. Charlie could cash in even if he never plays pro golf.”

Weber went on to suggest Nike and other sponsors could soon take a keen interest in the teenager, having worked closely with his father in the past. He added: “You can almost see the Nike commercial with the two of them.”

A number of golfers have talked up Woods Jnr in the past, with Padraig Harrington suggesting he is way ahead of some golfing greats when they were his age.

Charlie has been told to model his swing on Rory McIlroy

“I think he is pretty darn good. It looks like Charlie’s life is going to be in golf at this stage. And that’s only looking from the outside,” he said.

“It’s very interesting for a 13-year-old. And he did it when he was 11. It’s hard to support the angles in a golf swing at 11, he could hold the club at the right position.

Charlie Woods

“I bet you if you went back and looked at Rory McIlroy at 12 years of age, he was hitting a big loopy, you know, drop kicking. Because that’s what they do, kids. But Charlie has always managed to pressure the golf ball, which is exceptional at that age.”

Tiger meanwhile is ready to take a break as he continues his recovery from the injuries he sustained in a serious car crash. Following the PNC Championship, he admitted his son and daughter Sam motivated him to get back on the course.

“Just to be able to see their faces and see their smiles and to hear their words of encouragement,” he said.

“I’ve had some tough days, as he’s known, but just to have their support and their love — you know, I’m not going to get teary-eyed here — but it has meant so much to me to be able to get to this point in life. And forget the stage that we’re playing on, but just to get to this point in life.”

Charlie Woods shot a career-best 66 on his way to winning another junior golf event. Even better? Tiger Woods was there to witness it.

The 15-time major champ once again caddied for his son, this time at a regional qualifier for the Notah Begay III National Championship. Charlie won the 14-15 age division at Mission Inn in Orlando with scores of 71 and 66—and he made a clutch birdie on the final hole to secure the one-shot victory. Have a look:

“It’s great. We just stay in our own little world,” Charlie told tournament host Ryan Burr after about having his dad caddie for him. “We take it one shot at a time. He puts me in my place.”

Charlie, 14, and Tiger also teamed up to win the 14-15 age division of a Hurricane Junior Golf Tour event by eight shots in June. It’s worth noting that the elder Woods, recovering from ankle surgery, was mostly riding a cart for that win, but walked alongside Charlie this weekend. Last year, Charlie shot a then career-best 68 in this event on his way to finishing T-4 in the 12-13 age division

Charlie Woods

“Shooting 68 last year and followed up with 66 this year, obviously, this course is great for me . . . you have to go shoot a low round to win this thing, and it’s not going to be given,” added Woods, who qualified for the finals in November at Coushatta Casino Resort in Louisiana. “Just took it one shot at a time, don’t think too far ahead, and you just gotta keep eating. That’s it.”

Here’s Charlie’s post-round interview:
