Extended footage of Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis’ infamous sparring has leaked online.

The world champion duo clashed in a notorious training session in 2016, and both men have claimed to have gotten the better of the other ever since.

In March, Ryan Garcia posted a clip of Haney, who was just 16 years old at the time, being punched around the ring by Davis as Floyd Mayweather watched on.

‘Tank’ can be seen unloading a barrage of heavy punches on Haney.

However, the brief snippet seemed to be edited in a way to flatter Davis, who was 21 years old and well into his professional boxing career.

On Saturday night, while he was stretching his perfect record to 30-0 by knocking out Frank Martin, Fight Hype shared an 18-minute video that showed the six-round sparring session in its entirety with one particular moment catching the attention of boxing fans.

‘The Dream’ posted a three-second clip of him whacking Davis around the side of his head when he turned his back and began conversing with someone in the corner.

Unfortunately, Haney didn’t get the reaction he was after from his followers.

One person tweeted: “Bro threw a pillow at Tank.”

Another said:” Bragging about a shot where he had his back turned is nasty work.”

Someone else commented: “S*** did 1 damage.”

Haney is currently recovering from the first defeat of his career.

The 25-year-old was the undisputed lightweight champion before moving up in weight and taking on Garcia, who missed the 140lb limit ahead of their clash in April.

‘King Ry dropped Haney three times en route to a decision win.

The American is currently campaigning to get his lone loss overturned because Garcia tested positive for ostarine in the aftermath of their fight.

It’s currently unclear if Haney will get his wish, but it seems certain that he will square off with Davis one day.

Only time will tell if their sparring session is any indication of how an actual fight between the two boxing superstars will play out.

WBO champion Teofimo Lopez says Devin Haney “nowhere near any picture” when asked whether he would like to fight fellow super-lightweight, interested in “eye-candy” bout with Gervonta Davis – watch Lopez vs Steve Claggett live on Sky Sports from 2am, Sunday

WBO super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez says he is a level above Devin Haney and does not need to fight him to prove it.

Lopez makes the second defence of his belt against Steve Claggett live on Sky Sports from 2am on Sunday, and a clash with Haney has been mooted should ‘The Takeover’ come through.

Haney is the WBC super-lightweight ‘champion in recess’ following his defeat to Ryan Garcia in April being rendered a no contest after his opponent tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

“He has been helped a lot, in many ways. They wanted to make him seem like he is the greatest. I don’t hate the kid, I’m not knocking him down.

Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney argued after ‘Tank’ took a picture with Haney’s car.

Davis and Haney’s feud began several years ago since they met in a sparring session, but it has re-intensified after ‘Tank’ jumped on to social media to mock ‘The Dream’ after his upset defeat to Ryan Garcia.

The 29-year-old decided to escalate their rivalry on to a personal level by ‘pulling up’ and taking a picture with Haney’s luxury Mercedes Benz G63 and posting it on his social media.

A video has since emerged of Haney clearly finding out about his move, and the pair have been going it at it in a furious confrontation in the street.

The pair were separated by their teams as they shouted inaudible insults at each other, with people around them also being dragged into the angry confrontation.

Haney was clearly taking aim at Davis, and it has certainly set up a future showdown if the pair choose to settle their rivalry in the boxing ring.

Footage had previously emerged which appeared to show Davis embroiled in a separate argument with Haney, although the latter isn’t entirely visible.

It is clear that the fiery altercation had originated from the picture, which Davis posted with the caption: “Aha, can’t stop s*** and we on their side.”

He then tweeted:  “Tell them how I made you and your team dip out, and I’m on your side of town. That n***a a cold b***h.”

Haney then responded by confirming it was his car, and hitting back: “This n***a like my car so much, he took a picture next to it. Send him one @championmotoring.”

But his comments on Haney’s performance left a sour taste in his rival’s mouth.

He said: “Look at Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney, then look at my fight vs Ryan.

“If Ryan looked any different, he probably looked worse [vs Haney]. Bigger, much slower.

“He only hit him with the same punch I told everybody – a hook, a hook, a hook.

“Devin was sitting right there to be caught with the hook.

“And they were talking about this guy as pound-for-pound. Come on, he’s trash, he’s trash.”

Does Devin Haney deserve a rematch? Despite being the massive favorite and a multi-division champion, ‘The Dream’ succumbed to Garcia’s left hook. More importantly, he lost to a boxer who was not ready, who was partying every day, and who had never held a proper belt. Considering all that, should Ryan Garcia give Haney a rematch?

After the fight had ended last weekend, Garcia seemed open to giving Haney a rematch! He claimed as much during the post-fight interview with Chris Mannix. However, he seems to have changed his mind since then. While appearing in the PBD Podcast with Patrick Bet-David, the Victorville puncher spoke about the Devin Haney rematch and why Gervonta Davis won’t fight him.

Ryan Garcia claims he barely tried against Devin Haney

Speaking to Garcia, David quickly brought up the possibility of a rematch with Haney, even highlighting Garcia’s own admission to the same. However, Garcia was adamant as he said, “I did but, it ain’t no rematch. This dude got clowned up. I barely tried, bro.” To justify his lack of effort for the fight, Garcia went on to detail his routine in the lead-up to the fight.

“I was drinking every day. On Monday, I was at a nightclub. Tuesdays, I was at Little Sister [Lounge]. [On] Wednesdays, I went out. Thursday, I went out. Friday, I was drinking, I was doing whatever I wanted the day of the fight. I drank a blue moon, I was chilling, bro, I’m untouched,” said Garcia.

When asked about whether the goal was to face Gervonta Davis again, Garcia agreed! He said, “Yeah, I want to fight Tank. But Tank is not going to fight me. 100%.” However, Garcia hasn’t given up hope on a rematch with Davis, as he called out the undefeated Baltimore native on social media.

“King Ry” Garcia wants to fight Gervonta Davis at 144

Last year in April, Davis and Garcia fought at a catchweight of 136 in Las Vegas. Interestingly, Davis used a rehydration clause that limited Garcia from gaining weight back before the fight. So, after seeing his performance against Haney at 140, or 143 lbs in Garcia’s case, people started speculating about the duo’s fate in the upper weight class.

As far as Garcia is concerned, he would dominate Davis at his current weight. In a X post on the same day as the podcast went live, Garcia wrote, “Everyone wanna talk about the little Stupid Tank. Let’s fight, [enough] of that funny talk. Come see me at 144 and let’s stop the talk. If you beat Frank, let’s run it @Gervontaa.”

With a spectacular win over Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia now holds all the cards. Not only has he fought the two best boxers in the world, he defeated one of them by a mile. However, will another big pay cheque be enough to entice Gervonta Davis to risk his zero against a juiced-up Garcia? Do you think Garcia can beat Davis at 140 or above?

Following his huge win against Devin Haney on Saturday night, Ryan Garcia received an unexpected piece of advice from his old rival, Gervonta Davis, who urged Garcia to retire from boxing. Garcia shocked the boxing world with an impressive performance, flooring Haney three times and ultimately winning on points.

From the first bell, Garcia dominated the fight, hurting Haney with a left hook in the opening round. Despite Haney‘s efforts in the following rounds, Garcia continued to assert his dominance, stunning Haney again in the sixth round and knocking him down for the first time in his career in the seventh.

Garcia sealed his victory with two more knockdowns in rounds 10 and 11, securing a triumph that few had predicted. However, as Garcia missed weight before the fight, he did not claim Haney’s belt with the win.

Issued warning to Garcia

Despite his ongoing feud with Haney, Davis expressed his joy at seeing Haney lose. However, this didn’t stop him from taking a jab at Garcia as well.

“It’s best Ryan retire now,” Davis noted in a tweet that has been deleted.

“He gonna get hurt bad.”

Davis’s comment likely stems from Garcia and his promoter Oscar De La Hoya discussing a potential rematch with Davis during their post-fight press conference.

“I don’t think Tank’s gonna beat Frank Martin, but if he did, he wouldn’t fight me because I’m moving up,” Garcia said.

“I’m not doing 140, I’m going 147. I can’t make fuckin’ 140. I’ve never even technically fought at 140. My body can’t literally go lower than 143, it’s impossible. I’ve tried every technique.”

Bill Haney – Devin Haney’s father, trainer and manager – is predicting that his son will overtake Gervonta “Tank” Davis to become the unofficial “face of boxing” after, he says, Devin beats Ryan Garcia on Saturday.

Davis and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez have consistently been the top two draws in the United States over the past few years, and they have jockeyed for position to claim boxing’s top billing – at least on U.S. soil.

Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) is attempting to further catapult his career and star power by besting Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) in order to join the conversation.

“Gervonta Davis might be over with after this fight,” Bill Haney told BoxingScene.

“After we dismantle and beat up a healthy Ryan Garcia at 140 pounds and do some numbers, it might be over with for the former face of boxing, Tank Davis, who says that he can’t get the fight. How are you going to be the face of boxing and you can’t get the fight that you want? Devin has crossed platforms. We dealt with Stephen Espinoza at Showtime. We dealt with Eddie Hearn with Matchroom and DAZN. We dealt with Bob Arum and Top Rank and ESPN, and now we’re with Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy and DAZN.

“We did what it takes to make the [Garcia] fight happen. We broke down the myth that there were sides of the street. We do it for the people. The people put the target on their backs, and we delivered the fights.”

Haney-Garcia will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Davis has a strong track record at the venue, and Haney-Garcia will ultimately be compared to the big business Davis did there in his May 2022 knockout win over Rolando “Rolly” Romero. Additionally, David helped drive 1.2 million PPV buys and $22.8 million in ticket revenue for his own fight with Garcia last year.

“The [PPV numbers for Haney-Garcia] don’t have to be close to [Davis-Garcia],” said Bill Haney. “They have to beat the current numbers in 2024. We know the world of the fire sticks happen. We can’t judge the past. Let’s talk about and beat the 2024 numbers. If we beat any number in 2024, then that says Devin is the face of 2024. We don’t go on 2023.”

According to Davis promoter TGB, Davis-Romero was a sold-out show that broke the all-time gate record for a boxing match at the Barclays Center. The announced attendance of 18,970 also set a new record for boxing in the venue.

Haney-Garcia, meanwhile, has seen a lack of demand lead to price drops in tickets in recent weeks.

“Clearly whomever scaled their fight didn’t know what tf they were doing and it will ultimately cost the fighters a bunch of money,” Leonard Ellerbe, Davis’ promoter, recently posted to his X social media account – a reference to the light business Haney-Garcia has done thus far.

Haney agreed to a 55-45 revenue split in favor of Garcia for the gate, sponsorships and PPV percentages.

The heavily favored Haney is expected to beat the enigmatic Garcia and defend his junior welterweight title.

With Garcia as his dance partner, Haney should also improve on the subpar PPV figures from his fights against Vasiliy Lomachenko and Regis Prograis in 2023.

Whether or not the former undisputed lightweight champion Haney can lure Davis in for a dance after Garcia remains to be seen.

Although Davis has fought once before at 140 pounds, in 2021 against Mario Barrios, Tank insists he’s a 135-pound fighter.

“I don’t know [what’s going to stop a Haney-Davis fight from happening] because it wasn’t the money,” Bill Haney said. “I said there was $20 million on the table, [chairman of the Saudi Arabian General Entertainment Authority] Turki Alalshikh said there was even more. He said, ‘Let’s talk about it.’ I think Tank said something about some Ferraris. His Excellency sent over some boxing gloves, and I haven’t heard anything from there.

Bill Haney has always had a sharp tongue! But his trash-talking skills lead him to more and more controversies. In a few days, Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia will face each other in the ring to prove once and for all who the better boxer is. However, amid all the excitement, a question about Gervonta Davis prompted Bill Haney to launch an onslaught on the ‘face of boxing.’

A potential fight between ‘The Dream’ and ‘Tank’ has long been hailed as the ultimate clash of the titans. While there’s no sign of the fight actually happening, that hasn’t stopped either party from attacking each other on social media, especially after Garcia leaked the sparring footage between the duo. However, when Haney Sr. was asked about the potential fight recently in an interview, Bill claimed ‘Tank’ doesn’t want to fight while commenting on Davis’ stint with the law.

Bill Haney suggests Davis is nothing more than an attraction for people

Speaking to Fight Hype yesterday in Manhattan, New York, Bill Haney boldly said, “Man, ‘Tank’  [doesn’t] want to fight. ‘Tank’ [Davis doesn’t] represent really fighting and really getting to it, man—you know what I’m saying.” Turning to the Baltimore native’s popularity in the business, Bill Haney suggested he is an attraction for people, and not the best fighter.

“He’s not even close—his resume doesn’t resemble being the best fighter in the world,” said Bill. As to why Davis is so popular with the people, Haney had an interesting theory to prove his bold statement. “I didn’t say [Devin] was the biggest attraction because what people might be attracted to might be a whole lot of felonious s**t that’s going on.”

It’s worth mentioning that Davis has, on several occasions, found himself in the crosshairs of the authorities. While in some cases, the charges were dropped, in others, he actually had to spend jail time. Here’s a timeline of Gervonta Davis’ arrest history!

Gervonta Davis: From abuse to hit-and-run

The Baltimore native has had several run-ins with the law. And everything began back in 2019 when Davis found himself in an altercation with an individual at a mall in McLean, Virginia, that took place on February 17. Following the incident, Davis allegedly got into an argument with a cop and shoved him. He was charged with one count of misdemeanor assault, but the charges were later dropped.

The next incident happened in February 2020, when Davis was charged with simple battery domestic violence. Davis was held on $1,500 bail. However, even this charge was later dropped as the victim withdrew the complaint.

The next major event happened in November 2020 when Davis ran a red light in his 2020 Lamborghini Urus SUV and struck a 2004 Toyota Solara, injuring four people, including a pregnant woman. He was put under house arrest for the incident, but after he decided to break the rules of the house arrest, the judge handling the case handed him a 44-day jail sentence in Baltimore. This case has also been the major reason why Davis hasn’t been able to fight.

With that said, Bill Haney doesn’t seem to have any respect for what Gervonta Davis has managed to accomplish in the sport, as he branded him an attraction because of his rap sheet. What are your thoughts on Bill’s statement? Do you think Davis is a mere attraction?

Devin Haney will dispute his World Boxing Council (WBC) super lightweight title this Saturday against Ryan Garcia, in one of the most attractive fights of the year, to be held at the Barclays Center in New York, in a fight of reserved prognosis, since ‘King Ry’ is fighting his first fight for a world championship of his career, after suffering a devastating knockout at the hands of Gervonta Davis, leaving much to be desired in his fight in 2023.

Now, he is looking to show that he is in a position to fight for the big money and that is why he is challenging Haney, considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. He defeated Regis Prograis last December 2023 to win the green and gold belt.

Devin Haney comes into the fight with an undefeated record in 31 fights, while Ryan Garcia lost his unbeaten record a year ago in return for 24 wins.

Who is the favourite to win the fight?

According to bookmakers in Las Vegas, Devin Haney is the favourite to retain his title by decision. Although oddsmakers favour a knockout, technical knockout or disqualification.

For his part, the former undisputed champion of the division, Josh Taylor, chose Haney as favourite because he says he is a more complete fighter: “he has better boxing skills, he can read his opponents very well and he is much smarter,” he said in an interview with Boxing News, while ‘King Ry’ highlighted his great speed in his hands.

“I think they are two good fighters. Garcia has hand speed, not the best boxing IQ, but he’s quick and he’s got good timing with that left hook and he’s fast. I just think Devin Haney has better boxing skills and he’s more complete, he can move, defend or attack as well and he’s very smart,” he said.

He added: “His vision is excellent, his field of vision is excellent and he can read an opponent very well, he’s very good at reading an opponent and reading a fight, so I’m going to go with Devin Haney on this one.”

Other analysts expect Ryan Garcia to pull off the upset, as he knows Haney very well. They met six times in their amateur days, with three wins for each side. However, Haney is coming up in division, from 135 pounds, where he was undisputed champion, with 15 knockouts in his career.

Ryan Garcia, on the other hand, came to this division after knocking out Oscar Duarte and, although he is undefeated, he has 20 knockouts in 24 attempts.

Devin Haney, the undefeated WBC-recognised super lightweight champion, is determined to maintain his unblemished record in the ring. On April 20, he will face his former amateur rival, Ryan Garcia, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

In the world of elite boxing, Devin Haney stands out as one of the fittest fighters in the world today. His flawless performance in December against former undisputed lightweight champion Regis Prograis earned him the WBC 140-pound title, cementing his position as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport.

Fight against Prograis

According to CompuBox stats, in his fight against Prograis, Haney landed 129 of 367 punches, while his opponent only managed to land 36 of 323. The latter was a CompuBox defensive record for a 12-round fight, and Prograis was only able to get over two punches in more than four full rounds.

Haney told The Sporting News: “I was definitely able to show more of my repertoire in that fight. I think people are starting to realise how great I am. Every fight, I’m constantly improving, and this fight will be no different. The world will recognise my talent again after this and they will see how exceptional Devin Haney is once again. I just keep progressing, getting stronger and maturing. The lightweight division is where I belong.”

Although the fight against Prograis marked Haney’s debut in the super lightweight division, he managed to knock the bigger man down with a single right hand in the third round. After that blow, Prograis showed no rush to close the distance, allowing Haney to comfortably dominate the remainder of the fight.

Move to super lightweight

The champion is certain that his move to super lightweight has been hugely beneficial to his performance, especially after struggling to make 135lbs. However, he refuses to accept that Garcia’s weight cut to 136lbs for his fight against Gervonta “Tank” Davis is a valid excuse for his knockout defeat last April.

“I’m much stronger and faster. I feel comfortable and I don’t have to kill myself in camp,” Haney said. “I don’t focus on weight, I focus on improving and perfecting my craft. That’s the main thing, it’s not just a weight-cutting camp.

It’s been more than four years since Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) has had a knockout victory. That came in his showdown against Zaur Abdullaev (TKO 4), just before he was crowned world champion. Since then, he has racked up eight unanimous decision wins, with only Vasiliy Lomachenko being a real challenge in that time.

When talking to him, it’s clear that Haney would like to end the knockout drought and sees “King Ry” as the perfect match. “We’ve seen Ryan get reckless. We know he gets reckless and too anxious. If he gets too anxious, he’ll run into something.”
