Gervonta Davis vs Frank Martin is reportedly now agreed to take place next.

The clash of unbeaten American lightweights will take place for Tank’s WBA world title in late spring/early summer.

According to ESPN, it will be broadcast on PPV in the USA as part of Al Haymon’s PBC’s new deal with Amazon Prime Video.

When the pair do step into the ring, it will be over a year since Davis last boxed.

The 29-year-old American boxing star won a breakout fight last April when he knocked out Ryan Garcia in their Las Vegas blockbuster.

However, he then spent 44 days in prison after violating the terms of a sentence that initially saw him set to avoid being jailed.

At the start of May, Davis was sentenced over his November 2020 hit-and-run car crash which injured four people.

Because he accepted a plea deal and pled guilty to four traffic offences, he avoided a custodial sentence to begin with.

Tank was instead ordered to fulfil 90 days of home detention, but not even a month later was sent to prison after all.

He was adjudged to have violated the terms of his home detention order and was ordered to serve the rest of his 90-day sentence in jail as a result.

It was revealed that he violated the terms by trying to serve the home detention order at the Four Seasons Hotel and a $3.4million penthouse, rather than trainer Calvin Ford’s one-bedroom home as the judge agreed.

Upon being released, Davis spoke out on social media several times to express his anger and frustration about the restrictions placed up him preventing him from returning to training at times.

Last week though, the American took to social media to show that his ankle monitor had been removed.

Therefore, he is now free to move on with his next fight and has reportedly agreed a deal to face Martin.

Like Davis, Martin is also 29 years old and also an unbeaten American lightweight at 18-0 (12 KOs).

However, his career has not had the same fanfare and, although he is highly rated, most believe Tank has the superior skillset at 29-0 (27 KOs).

Last year, Martin was widely criticised and accused of ‘ducking’ Shakur Stevenson after U-turning on a deal to fight him for the WBC world title.

Now, he will have his chance to silence his doubters regardless.

Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Frank Martin have reportedly agreed terms to fight for the WBA lightweight title.

The rivals, according to ESPN, are on course to fight either late in the spring or early in the summer, on a Premier Boxing Champions on Amazon Prime Video pay-per-view.

Davis, 29 and the defending champion, last fought in April 2023, when at a catchweight of 136lbs he stopped Ryan Garcia in seven rounds.

Three months later Martin earned a unanimous decision over Artem Harutyunyan, by when Davis was serving 44 days at a detention center in Baltimore, having been ruled to have violated the terms of the 90 days’ house arrest he was under after pleading guilty to four counts following a crash in November in which four people, including a pregnant woman, were injured. He was also sentenced to three years of probation, and 200 hours of community service.

Martin, also 29, fights out of the same gym as the also-Derrick James-trained Garcia, who next fights Devin Haney for Haney’s WBC super lightweight title at New York’s Barclays Center on April 20. Martin had previously been on course to fight Shakur Stevenson for the WBC lightweight title. Stevenson is perhaps Davis’ biggest rival at 135lbs.
