While Gervonta Davis is doing his part to give back to society, he has been known to get in trouble with the law on occasions, and one such incident is allegedly keeping him from his training and kids.

Earlier this year, the 29-year-old spent 44 days in a Baltimore jail owing to a hit-and-run case that ended up injuring four people. According to MARCA, the repercussions of the incident are seemingly still haunting the pugilist.

While ‘Tank’ was hoping to spend Christmas with his children and get back into training, the judge handling his case has reportedly ruled against it.

In a recent post on X, Davis accused the judge of having ill intent against him:

Gervonta Davis isn’t happy with the top honcho at Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn. It led to the British boxing promoter apologizing to ‘Tank’ in a recent interview. Previously, Hearn shed light on the ongoing talks with ‘Tank’ Davis about a potential clash with Devin Haney. Meanwhile, Davis shared a screenshot of his DM with Hearn regarding the same subject, but what did he say?

He declined to speak to Hearn! Not so long ago, ‘The Dream’ Haney defeated Regis Prograis in an excellent show of performance. It made way for the victor to potentially face Ryan Garcia, Gervonta Davis, or Conor Benn. However, when Haney’s promoter approached ‘Tank’ for the fight, all he received was a cold shoulder and leaked DM. So, in a recent interview with iFL TV, the Brit expressed his regret.

Eddie Hearn claims he used the wrong word to describe Davis

During the interview, when asked if there are any developments with the ‘Tank’ situation, Hearn revealed the time he called the Baltimore native ‘not a deep thinker.’ He went on to suggest that Davis didn’t like that remark, which led to him declining to speak to Hearn. According to Hearn, he also said ‘Tank’ wasn’t an ‘articulate thinker,’ claiming it was the wrong word to say. So, he followed by apologizing to the undefeated boxer.

Gervonta Davis and Floyd Mayweather

“Do you remember when I said he’s not a deep thinker? That p***ed him off… I said, ‘One reason that makes Gervonta so dangerous is he’s not a deep thinker,’ but then I said, ‘He’s not articulate,’ and that was the wrong word to use…I shouldn’t have used that word. It was the wrong word to use, and for that, I apologize,” Hearn told iFL TV. While Hearn apologized for his prior remark, in another interview, he sheds light on the entire interaction with ‘Tank.

However, when he approached Davis, he received a big no and claimed there were other bits of DMs that Davis did not leak. “I spoke to Bill Haney, and we’ve already got some big offers in place for Haney against ‘Tank.’ And I just wanted to see if there was a chance to discuss that fight [with Davis]. He said no, there was a few other bits that he said that he decided not to post those bits,” said Haney’s promoter.

Not happy with Hearn’s comments, ‘Tank’ Davis refused to talk to Hearn. However, it’s yet to be seen if Hearn’s apology helps Haney’s cause to fight Davis. Do you think Hearn needed to apologize?

Gervonta Davis vs Naoya Inoue has been teased for the longest time. However, Inoue never truly considered the possibility of him facing ‘Tank,’ until now. In a recent turn of events, the undefeated boxer weighed in on the potential match-up. His comments come after Floyd Mayweather Jr., demanded the potential fight be set in the United States of America.

Mayweather was adamant about having random doping tests to ensure a level playing field. This was in part led by a suspicion that the Japanese super bantamweight fighter may have used banned substances to further his career. But amidst all this, Inoue’s recent comments may put all these aspirations and speculations to rest. What does he have to suggest? Let’s find out.

Does Naoya Inoue foresee himself fighting Davis?

The Japanese professional boxer could not have been more explicit in disregarding a fight with Davis. In an interview, he conveyed that a bout between them is not “possible,” referring to the significant weight disparity between the two. In addition, he also revealed his respect for the Baltimore native. While denying any chance of a potential fight, the champion stated that he would like to see Davis placed higher on the pound-for-pound list. Reflecting on the same, he stated, “I don’t think it’s possible [to fight him], it’s more hype that fans are putting together… I think of him very highly. If he’s on the lower part of the pound-for-pound list, I think he should be up a little bit further than where he is now.”

Gervonta Davis

It is safe to say that their bout may not be in the cards anytime soon, as Inoue considers the weight disparity problematic. However, if the bout were to ever take place, let’s see how Rolly Romero thinks it would play out.

Inoue vs Davis; Rolly Romero makes his prediction

Romero has fought Davis in the past and was defeated. The two are not fond of each other. Yet, Romero fancies the chances of his foe against Inoue and, with conviction, predicts a stoppage victory. In an interview, He stated, “Inoue vs. Tank? Tank by murder. You know Inoue is a good fighter and all, you know, he is very talented. I can’t follow him. He doesn’t speak English.”

Whether or not this bout takes place, one thing is clear, it has ignited some interest. Until the next revelation, we are curious to know what you make of Inoue’s aforementioned comments. Share with us your thoughts and opinions in the comments below.

‘The Ring’ Magazine’s latest Pound-for-Pound (P4P) list has set tongues wagging. This esteemed list, a who’s who of the boxing elite, includes the likes of Terence CrawfordNaoya Inoue, and Oleksandr Usyk. But nestled among these titans are choices that might raise eyebrows.

Think of Gervonta Davis, Errol Spence Jr., and Devin Haney, names that have stirred more than just the air in the ring. Without giving away too much, this list is not just a ranking; it’s a catalyst for debate. Something seems amiss, perhaps even controversial. It’s not just about who’s in, but also about why they are there.

The full rundown of ‘The Ring’ Magazine’s controversial P4P list

Transitioning from the usual suspects to unexpected entries, ‘The Ring’ Magazine’s latest Pound-for-Pound list has taken a bold turn. At the top, we find Terence Crawford, renowned for his win against Errol Spence. Following closely is Naoya Inoue, the Japanese powerhouse known for his knockout prowess. In third place stands Oleksandr Usyk, a tactician whose skill transcends weight classes. Canelo Álvarez, who recently dominated Jermell Charlo, occupies the fourth spot.

However, as we delve deeper, the list takes intriguing turns. Dmitry Bivol, known for his recent high-profile victories, comfortably sits at number five. Then comes Devin Haney at six and Errol Spence Jr at seven, both exceptional but perhaps less expected in such high ranks. Gervonta Davis finds himself at eight, a placement that has sparked widespread discussion. Rounding out the top ten are Teofimo Lopez at nine, and Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez at ten, who only recently won comfortably against Sunny Edwards.

Gervonta Davis has lost the fanbase?

The placement of certain fighters has particularly sparked heated discussions across various platforms. At the forefront of this controversy is the inclusion of Gervonta Davis. One fan didn’t mince words, expressing, “Tank being on that list is embarrassing.” Similarly, the reaction to Devin Haney’s position is far from unanimous. One user bluntly stated, “Get rid of Haney.”

The debate extends beyond these two boxers. With a touch of relief, another fan chimed in, “FINALLY THEY GOT RID OF LOMA,” indicating a shift in fan expectations and preferences regarding the top-tier boxers. Criticism didn’t stop there. Davis’ position continued to be a focal point of contention, with another person asserting, “Tank can’t be on the list with that bs resume.” Lastly, offering a constructive twist, one fan suggested, “Change tank for Beterbiev.”

These varied fan reactions paint a picture of a community deeply invested in the sport, with strong opinions about the metrics and achievements that should define the world’s best boxers. What are your thoughts on this latest P4P list? Do you agree with the fan reactions, or do you see the rankings differently? Your perspective adds another layer to this ongoing conversation.

Bothering a guy who beats up people for a living is never a good idea! However, Melvin Townsend never got the memo. More than a year ago, Mike Tyson slapped up a man on a JetBlue Florida-bound flight for bothering him and throwing a bottle at him. Today, a similar incident came to light after fans discovered an old clip of Gervonta Davis surfaced online.

Off late, one of Davis’ old tweets became the chatter on X (formerly Twitter). The tweet was from June 6, 2015, but given the situation with Mike Tyson, the clip seemed eerily similar to Mike’s altercation. While Davis didn’t end up punching the fellow, unwanted kicking and touching from the co-passenger annoyed the Baltimore native.

Gervonta Davis once called his co-passenger “Stuart Little”

Davis has never been a violent person, to begin with. But according to his tweet from 2015, he came close to starting a Mike Tyson-level controversy. While traveling on the flight, the passenger sitting behind Davis allegedly kept touching and kicking his seat. So, the Baltimore native decided to pull out his phone to record.

Later, posting on X, Davis wrote in the caption that he was about to have a problem if the passenger repeated his actions another time. He wrote, “Stuart Little touch or kick on my chair one more time…we gonna have a problem!” It’s hard to imagine what would have happened if Davis decided to let his hands swing. While Davis managed to avoid any consequences, Mike wasn’t so lucky!

Townsend demands money from Mike Tyson to avoid a lawsuit

According to a tweet from Collin Rugg, Co-Owner of Trending Politics, Townsend has demanded $450,000 as a “pre-litigation settlement demand” from Tyson. Townsend claims he has suffered “severe headache and neck pain” due to Mike’s assault on the JetBlue flight. Townsend even claimed that he “is still suffering with the effects of the assault to this day.

What’s more, according to Townsend’s lawyer, he lost several jobs due to the incident and is unable to pay for the medical expenses he suffered from Tyson’s punches. However, the lawyer representing Mike isn’t buying any of it, claiming it’s nothing more than a shakedown attempt. Mike’s lawyer stated, “There will be no shakedown payment.”

While Mike Tyson grapples with a $450K demand from Towsand for the JetBlue incident last year, Davis’ brush with a similar incident resurfaces online. However, we would like to get your thoughts on regular people antagonizing boxers. Do you think Mike’s actions were justified? Do you agree with Gervonta Davis’ sentiment towards his tormentor in the resurfaced video?

Two-division world champion and now fight analyst Paulie Malignaggi has weighed-in with his prediction ahead of a proposed match-up between undefeated American duo Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis.

Haney defeated Regis Prograis earlier this month to become the WBC super-lightweight champion and, ever since, he has been linked to a showdown with ‘Tank’ Davis, who claims he will make Haney’s father and trainer Bill cry if they meet in the ring.

In an interview on Pro Box TV, Malignaggi offered his assessment of the rumoured bout, declaring that the styles of each fighter massively favour Haney, especially if he is as composed and flawless as he was against Prograis.

Further discussing the subject, Malignaggi went on to say.

  1. “Tank is already pretty comfortable letting the other guy bank rounds and then knocking him out, this way he is going to have a problem, because Haney is not going to make that mistake against Tank. He is not going to walk into any big punch byes, he is not going to let Tank set him up, he is going to continue to outbox him.”

Eddie Hearn has since confirmed Bill Haney’s claims that ‘Tank’ has turned down an offer of twenty-million dollars to take the fight, leaving fans questioning whether the contest will take place.

Bob Arum has some strong words about Gervonta Davis and his future.

‘Tank’ has been out of the ring since a knockout win over Ryan Garcia in April. That victory over ‘KingRy’ was the biggest victory of his career, but law issues briefly caused him to take some time off. Now, back in training, he’s eyeing a big name for his return.

As of now, Davis is expected to return in March on Amazon Prime pay-per-view. While he’s been going back and forth with Devin Haney, he’s also been tied to bouts with Shakur Stevenson and Isaac Cruz. ‘Pitbull’ famously suffered a decision loss to Davis back in December 2021.

Gervonta Davis

However, a potential bout with ‘Super’ would be a brand-new matchup. For his part, Stevenson has been out of the ring since a unanimous decision win over Edwin De Los Santos in November. That victory handed him the WBC lightweight title.

In the event a fight between Gervonta Davis and Stevenson comes together, Bob Arum knows who he’s rolling with. In fact, as reported by Michael Benson, the promoter feels that ‘Tank’ is less than he’s hyped as being.

Arum stated that Davis would also lose potential bouts against Teofimo Lopez and Vasyl Lomachenko. He stated:

In the ring, the handiwork of Gervonta Davis can be spotted a mile away. The newly turned 29-year-old normally leaves the faces of his opponents on the mat. His propensity for violence, however, often dissipates once the adrenaline is gone and things cool down.

Outside the ring, Davis mostly keeps a low profile, despite being one of the most called-out boxers in the world. The need to hurl bombastic threats in his direction are usually extraneous, but Bill Haney knows how to get a response out of him.

Devin Haney, Bill’s son and current WBC super lightweight champion, arguably scored the most impressive victory of his career, a lopsided victory over former titlist, Regis Prograis. There wasn’t a single second where the 25-year-old wasn’t in control, prompting him to stick out his chest and brag about his latest exploits.

Bill, unsurprisingly, watched proudly from his son’s corner. Once his now two-division champ scored the victory, he immediately turned his attention towards Davis. From making fun of his weight to calling Davis a paper champion, Bill is doing his best to push the buttons of the Baltimore native.

Gervonta Davis

Initially, Davis shrugged his shoulders before giving the Haney’s a ho-hum response. But, after listening to Bill’s words repeatedly, Davis officially warned Devin that the beating he’s on the verge of experiencing will not only hurt him but also his father.

“I promise you,” wrote Davis on his social media account. “Your father gonna cry for what I’m a do to you.”

Davis, of course, is waiting til the calendar hits 2024 before revealing his future plans. After spending his 2023 permanently closing the mouths of a pair of Garcia’s, Davis promises to do the same to the Haney’s.

Ultimately, Davis is one of boxing’s biggest stars and cash cows. Meaning, he decides when a showdown between himself and Devin Haney can become a reality. For now, he’ll simply sit back and enjoy his holidays. Although he loathes Devin and can’t wait to jump into the ring with him, he wants him to celebrate his latest win.

“Your best bet is to enjoy it while you can.”

Devin Haney changed the public opinion around him with his convincing victory over Regis Prograis. Interestingly, team Haney has locked their sights on a potential fight with Gervonta Davis. Ever since Haney’s call out in the post-fight interview, the two have been going back and forth on social media. However, it seems that the fight may not see the light of day now.

Recently, Bill Haney, in a video, claimed that Davis had turned down an offer for a whopping $20 million. This led to Davis criticizing Haney’s camp, stating, “These n***as is p***y. If they wanna make the fight happen, tell them they know who to call. They’re broke.” Even Leonard Ellerbe took to Twitter to fire shots at Haney. But a recent statement from Eddie Hearn hints that the fight might not happen.

Eddie Hearn comes out with a new update on Gervonta Davis Vs. Devin Haney

In an interview with FightHub.com Eddie Hearn discussed the authenticity of Bill Haney’s claims of Davis turning down the huge opportunity. He revealed, “I mean we wanna speak to Gervonta Davis. I reached out to him because we got huge offers for him, Bill knows those numbers and we got offers around the world to stage that fight. Unfortunately, Gervonta didn’t want to discuss them, but we’ll move on and see what’s next. Hopefully, that fight can get made in the future.”

Gervonta Davis

According to Hearn, the lightweight champion is not interested in a fight against Haney for now. However, he wants to keep the doors open for a future fight as well. It seems that the fight may not take place for now, much to the disappointment of fans. Interestingly, this allowed Davis’ old rival a chance to land shots at him.

Ryan Garcia receives shots from both Davis and Haney

Earlier this year, Davis came out victorious against Ryan Garcia in one of the biggest fights this year. Even though the two didn’t do a rematch, the rivalry remains. Garcia recently took to Twitter stating, “Tank will not fight you without the clauses!” Davis immediately hit back, writing, “Do you want me to beat ya a** again..Becuz it was easier than taking candy from baby g.”

In his message, Garcia had also hinted at a fight against Haney after fighting Rolly Romero. Haney took the chance and wrote, “I thought belts didn’t matter? Let’s do it now.”

However, Garcia deleted the tweet later, which caused Haney to criticize him once again. It seems that both Davis and Haney have already started looking at other potential fights. For now, fans will have to see how the situation develops further.

Gervonta Davis had some serious words for Devin Haney as the pair verbally agreed to make a fight happen.

Haney is riding high off a win over Regis Prograis in San Francisco, a stellar performance to make him two-weight world champion made all the most impressive given it was his first outing at super-lightweight.

Whilst he’s likely to try and unify the belts in this new division, he has also mentioned that he would entertain facing Gervonta Davis in what he reckons is ‘the biggest fight in the sport.’

Gervonta Davis

‘Tank’, also undefeated and one of the biggest draws in boxing, sent a threat Haney’s way on social media today.

To that, Haney responded “let’s make it happen, I’m free.”

The match-up has gained some momentum following Haney’s win. He was asked about Davis in the post-fight press conference, accusing him of not looking to fight.

Davis then spoke out on social media when Haney’s fight night weight was revealed – 165lbs after meeting the super-lightweight limit of 140 the day prior – hinting at some banned practices.

The pair don’t currently occupy the same division, but ‘Tank’ has travelled up to super-lightweight once in the past and may be tempted.

His other option is to stick at 135 and pick up a full world title early next year given Haney is set to formally vacate his remaining three belts and the Baltimore native is already the WBA’s Regular Champion.
