Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis have been at each other’s throats ever since the conclusion of the former’s highly anticipated bout against Regis Prograis. In the latest updates, the back-and-forth between the two has progressed even further. Bill Haney recently even made claims that Davis had allegedly turned down a $20 million offer from Haney’s team. In the video, he could be seen baffled, simply stating, “Bro, you turned down $20 million guaranteed. $20 million, bro. Are you serious, bro?”

This caused a huge storm in the boxing world, and soon Davis fired back during Instagram Live. He claimed, “These n***as is p***y. If they wanna make the fight happen, tell them they know who to call. They’re broke.” As Haney continued his attempts to get under Tank’s skin, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions took the chance to give on final response to the former. Here’s what both of them stated.

Leonard Ellerbe ‘educates’ Bill Haney amid the heated back-and-forth

Recently, a video of Bill Haney surfaced on social media. In the Twitter video, Haney, in response to Ellerbe’s recent comments surrounding the Haney-Prograis fight, expressed skepticism. He stated,  “Leonard Ellerbe himself wants to present some fake numbers to the people. Good brother, the fight and the engagement far exceeded 50 thousand, 10 thousand, anything that you can muster up in your fat head to come up with any lie about.” He asked Ellerbe to share the source where they found the recent fight to be lacking in any aspect. Moreover, he even called him “Mr. Spook”. He also claimed, “Everybody had a wonderful time in the Bay Area.” He stated that everyone needs to treat Haney with respect for his talent.

Ellerbe was not one to back down and soon shared his response as well. He wrote, “Since you’re new to the PPV game, let me educate you on a lil something, you or nobody else can’t make an offer to Tank Davis, remember you’re the opponent. That’s how it works. I’m not going to be going back and forth about this nonsense”.

He appeared tired of the constant exchange of words between the two parties and didn’t want it to needlessly continue. However, it appears that ‘the Dream’ has already made his plans to face Davis as he turned down another champion.

Devin Haney on potential super fight

It is beyond doubt that the fight between Davis and Devin Haney would certainly be a huge fight. However, during a conversation with ThaBoxingVoice Podcast, Haney revealed another possible huge fight that could happen in the ring.

According to Haney, two-division world champion Teofimo Lopez approached him for a potential bout. However, this left Haney irritated instead. He revealed, “So, on one random day, I get a text from Teo. And he is like, ‘It’s Teo bro, let’s make this fight.” However, Haney told him, “‘You’re in a contract, right? So you’ve gotta go talk to Bob, right?’ He said yeah. I’m already in talks with Bob Arum, so what the f*** am I talking to you for?”.

Despite turning down Lopez’s proposal, Haney noted that the former could have just been drunk. It’s noteworthy that while Haney opted against the fight, his father, Bill Haney, expressed interest in a clash between ‘The Takeover’ and ‘The Dream.’

In the electrifying world of boxing, where every punch thrown and word exchanged carries its weight in anticipation, a recent bombshell has left fans on the edge of their seats. The revelation came in the form of a leaked direct message.  Gervonta Davis, not one to mince words, exposed the content of his conversations with Eddie Hearn, laying bare the disagreements and hurdles standing in the way of the highly anticipated clash with Devin Haney.

Davis, sporting an impressive record of 7-0 with 6 knockouts, had initially set the stage for a colossal matchup with Haney. The buzz around a possible fight was reaching a crescendo, and fans were eagerly awaiting an official announcement. However, behind closed doors, tensions were brewing, and the dynamics between Davis and Hearn were about to take a sharp turn.

Hurdles in Negotiating Gervonta Davis vs. Devin Haney

Gervonta Davis shared a direct message from promoter Eddie Hearn, expressing a desire to discuss matters. The prevailing speculation suggests that Hearn is keen on arranging a high-stakes showdown between the undefeated Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis, who is under the management of the PBC and holds an impressive record of 29-0 with 27 knockouts.

Gervonta Davis

Hearn faces the formidable challenge of facilitating a matchup between Haney and Davis, complicated by Devin’s refusal to entertain a catchweight and rehydration clause, introducing a significant hurdle in the negotiation process. The weight-related stipulations set by Haney may pose a potential roadblock, casting doubt on the feasibility of the desired fight against Tank. Determining whether Devin’s stance on the weight conditions is a strategic negotiating tactic or a genuine, steadfast position remains uncertain

The stakes are undeniably high, and the Matchroom promoter, Hearn, could achieve a monumental feat if he successfully brokers a deal to bring about the highly anticipated Tank vs. Haney clash. Previously, Hearn had expressed interest in orchestrating a face-off between Ryan Garcia and Haney for the first defense of the WBC belt. However, there has been a notable lack of enthusiasm from Ryan Garcia and his promoters at Golden Boy.

Matchroom’s Gamble: Eddie Hearn’s Bid for  Davis vs.Haney

For Hearn, securing the Tank-Haney matchup would represent a more significant achievement, and it hinges on his adept deal-making skills. Collaborating with Tank’s management at PBC, Hearn has the opportunity to orchestrate a fight that has captured the attention of boxing enthusiasts. While Hearn initially prioritized arranging the Haney-Garcia bout, it seems that Golden Boy may not favor making that specific match occur. The success or failure of Hearn’s efforts could significantly influence the trajectories of both Davis and Garcia in the competitive world of boxing.

The drama unfolded as Hearn, in his attempts to secure a deal, found himself faced with Davis’s reluctance. The DMs revealed a back-and-forth, with Hearn emphasizing the potential of a Davis-Haney bout and Davis standing firm in his position. The tension escalated until the tipping point—a moment that changed the course of their online discourse.

As the digital dust settles, one thing is clear—Gervonta Davis has thrown down the gauntlet, turning what was once a simmering feud into an all-out verbal brawl that has fans eagerly awaiting the next round. The stage is set, and the boxing world watches with bated breath to see how this explosive saga unfolds.

Looking ahead isn’t something that Chris Colbert normally indulges in but he knows he’s just one win away from landing numerous big-time fights.

Colbert’s time at 135 pounds was supposed to be short-lived. However, after taking a look at the barren landscape at 130, Colbert figured that it made little to no sense to go back down in weight. So, with the Brooklyn native getting ready to run things back with Jose Valenzuela, the 27-year-old already knows who he wants to face immediately after.

“I want Gervonta Davis,” said Colbert to BoxingScene.com during a recent interview. “Gervonta Davis is the best guy in the 135-pound division. Gervonta Davis is a tremendous fighter.”

For the first time in a long time, Colbert (17-1, 6 KOs) handled this particular training camp a bit differently. Usually, Colbert’s camps take place in the heart of Brooklyn. But, with coach Sosa, his current trainer, forced to deal with prior obligations, Colbert packed his bags and headed down to Baltimore.

Colbert worked closely with Barry Hunter and several members of Davis’ team. He also worked side by side with Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) himself.

There was something inspiring about hitting the pads and doing drills next to a three-division champ who just so happens to be a multi-millionaire and one of the most popular fighters in the sport. Of course, Colbert wants that fame and fortune for himself. With that said, the loquacious contender appreciates who Davis has become and everything he went through to finally get there.

“Watching him motivated me,” continued Colbert. “That’s a young black man that came from the trenches like me making millions. He can do whatever he wants and step the way he wanna step. He motivates me to keep going and work harder and be a better fighter. I like working around fighters like that.”

People can’t stop talking about Devin Haney! He went from the guy who barely edged out against Vasiliy Lomachenko to one of the best boxers in the 140-pound division with his debut. Fans and pundits alike have commended Haney’s blockbuster performance against Regis ProgriasLeonard Ellerbe also had similar thoughts about Haney. But it could not convince Ellerbe that Haney had a chance against Gervonta Davis.

Several potential opponents have been proposed after Haney absolutely schooled Regis last Saturday night. However, a comparison between Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney is still the leading topic among fans. So, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions turned to X (formerly Twitter) to express his thoughts on Davis’ superiority over Devin Haney despite Saturday night’s performance.

Leonard Ellerbe compliments Haney for building a brand

Recently, Ellerbe made his way to X, responding to a tweet from a user who was complimenting Haney and his team. So, Ellerbe claimed Haney and his team have done a good job building a brand around him to make millions. “They’ve done a great job building their brand with being their own bosses and making M’s,” wrote Ellerbe.

However, he went on to claim ‘Tank’ is still better than Haney. “Tank is just on another level, that’s all, and he has the best team in boxing,” wrote Ellerbe. The CEO of Mayweather Promotions concluded by revealing he recently watched an interview where Haney’s team was planning to fight two boxers Davis has already beaten. While Ellerbe proclaimed Davis’ superiority, Haney recently spoke about Davis.

Devin Haney claims Gervonta Davis is the best

Regardless of how much each fighter might want to fight each other, the potential fight still remains a pipe dream. Moreover, both fighters have been involved in a sort of back-forth online. However, according to an article from Boxing Scene, Haney surprisingly had only nice things to say about Gervonta Davis.

Two-time welterweight champion Shawn Porter believes the punch resistance of one super-lightweight has diminished after he suffered a knockout defeat to the undefeated power-puncher, Gervonta Davis.

‘Tank’ is on a three-fight knockout streak and has recorded twenty-seven stoppages in his twenty-nine contests to date, including knocking out the likes of Leo Santa Cruz, Rolando Romero and Ryan Garcia in statement victories.

Garcia bounced back from that defeat to ‘Tank’ recently with a stoppage win of his own against Oscar Duarte and proceeded to call-out Romero for a shot at the WBA super-lightweight title during the aftermath.

Gervonta Davis

In an interview with Fight Hype, Porter gave his prediction for a proposed clash between two of Davis’ former opponents and shared his belief that Romero’s punch resistance appears to have declined, based off of his performance against Ismael Barroso earlier this year.

‘Rolly’ claims that Davis’ punch power is overrated and that Barroso hits ‘one million times harder’ than the WBA Regular lightweight Champion, although his chin may be truly tested if he opts to face Garcia, who has also established himself as a hard-hitter in his own right.

Before Romero-Garcia can take place, the champion is expected to defend his title against the winner of Ohara Davies-Ismael Barroso after the WBA ordered that the champion takes on his mandatory challenger by March 2024 in order to keep hold of his belt.

What makes boxing better than other sports is the way people around the boxers get involved, adding spice to the mix and making fans drool for the clash. Something similar is brewing in the boxing world right now, as Devin Haney is coming off a blockbuster win over Regis Prograis. In a not-so-surprising turn of events, Calvin Ford, head coach for Gervonta Davis has branded Haney’s recent win as a ‘Tailor Made’ fight.

Bill Haney, Devin’s father, previously went on a rant criticizing ‘Tank’ Davis and his team for ducking a fight with ‘The Dream’ Haney. So, while appearing in a recent interview with ES News, Calvin Ford, expressed his thoughts about Haney’s win over Regis Prograis. It’s worth mentioning that a fight between ‘Tank’ and Haney has been the center of public attention for the longest time, but nothing came out of it. Though the fighters never met in the ring, the people around them are butting heads. Here’s what Calvin said!

Calvin Ford claims people don’t understand boxing

While speaking to Elie Seckbach from ES News, Calvin outright labeled the fight tailor-made. When probed about why he thinks the fight was strategically arranged for Haney’s benefit, Calvin claimed people don’t understand boxing. “I call it a tailor-made [fight]…Listen, you don’t understand, people don’t understand boxing,” said Ford.

He went on to elaborate on his statement, claiming that everything was exactly the way Haney wanted. Calvin even suggested that Haney knew the promoters and knew about what kind of opponent he was facing. “All the stars were lined up for that fight. He knew the promoter. They knew who he was dealing with…They say, ‘I can’t fight at 135, I am going to 140 for this world title,’ and it worked out in their favor. That’s why I said it’s tailor-made,” said Calvin. With that out of the way, here’s what Bill said about Gervonta Davis.

Bill Haney claims they don’t need Gervonta Davis

In a recent interview with Fight Hype, Bill Haney criticized Davis for avoiding a fight against his son. He asked Davis to send a fair fight contract if he was the face of boxing, something that shows he is interested in fighting Haney. “If you’re the face of boxing, then send over something, man, you know what I’m saying. Something respectful like you really trying to do this s**t,” said Bill.

Bill then proceeded to suggest that everyone Haney fights is fairly paid for their efforts. “Every fighter that Devin f**k with gets paid, man, the most money, man, knock it off, man. That’s bunk business, man,” said Bill. However, Devin’s father also claimed they don’t need Davis and that Davis should live on welfare cheques. “Listen, we don’t need you. Let the welfare feed you for real,” said Bill.

After Haney’s Saturday night performance, Gervonta Davis’ coach accused Haney of strategically planning the fight. On the other hand, Haney’s father claims Gervonta Davis is trying to avoid a fight against his son. This could very well be the beginning of a great clash between Haney and Davis. Do you think Davis would fight Haney? If they did, who do you think would win?

Devin Haney secured the WBC super-lightweight world title from Regis Prograis, marking his entrance into the 140-pound division with a commanding performance in San Francisco. The former undisputed lightweight world champion delivered a notable blow by knocking down his opponent during the bout. The judges unanimously declared Haney the winner with scores of 120-107.

This assured the dominance he displayed throughout the match on Saturday. Haney had Prograis down on the ground in the third round and even stunned him with a direct hit in the sixth round. After the immaculate performance, Haney’s father Bill Haney claimed his son to be the ‘face of boxing’ and criticized Gervonta Davis for giving himself this accolade.

Bill Haney puts Gervonta Davis on the spot

In the aftermath of the Prograis showdown, the potential clash between Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis appears to be a tightly contested matchup, with opinions leaning towards a 50/50 split. Haney, buoyed by his accomplishments, business acumen, and exceptional technical skills, has established himself on a comparable or even superior platform to Davis. Notably, Bill Haney, Devin’s father, has emphatically asserted that they will not yield to Tank’s rehydration clause and what they perceive as low-ball offers.

Gervonta Tank Davis

He said, “Hiding behind the Twitter and hiding behind the other s**t, them days are over with man. Devin is the face.” Then he goes on to talk about how Davis cannot really be called the ‘face of boxing’. He explained further, “How you gon’ be the face and you never get asked questions to y’all. How you gon’ be the face and you don’t fight the people that you want to fight. How you gon’ be the face and you brag about the money you charge to people and it’s a fight that is a mismatch. Come on man, is that the face?

In the past few days, Davis has been sending a lot of cryptic messages supposedly in the direction of ‘The Dream’. Still, Haney believes ‘Tank’ doesn’t want to take the fight against him.

Following his victory as the WBC super lightweight champion, Devin Haney contemplates potential future matchups. He also acknowledged that a showdown with a rival previously defeated by Davis seems more plausible than a bout against Davis himself in 2024. Haney expressed cautious optimism about a lucrative fight with Ryan Garcia, deeming it “a possibility” during his post-fight press conference on Saturday night.

However, when addressing the prospect of facing Davis, Haney conveyed a sense of pessimism. He said, “Tank don’t wanna fight because if he really wanted to fight, then he would be trying to build up the fight, instead of trying to, you know, knock it down or, you know, try to, you know, say I’m only selling cuz of this or cuz of that.

he ‘Werewolf’ could barely use his claws. ‘The Dream’ crushed them right over from the first round. Regis Prograis barely had any answers to the questions Devin Haney raised. In what is now being termed a clinical execution, the former undisputed lightweight champion forced the New Orleans-born southpaw into meek submission. The win couldn’t have come at a better time. After the criticism that he received over the Lomachenko fight, Devin Haney turned the tables on all the skeptics with an emphatic statement.

It is obvious that his thirty-first consecutive victory would make him the target of all the callouts and dismissals. Ryan Garcia has already made his intentions clear with a callout for a 2024 fight. The Haneys, on the other hand, went after one of the ‘faces of boxing’ for avoiding a square-up. During the post-fight press conference and over random conversations with the media, both the father and son duo hauled Gervonta Davis over the coals, especially over his comments on the Saturday night fight drawing in full crowds. It was only a matter of time before the undefeated lightweight champion shot down a sharp retort.

Chastising Gervonta Davis style

Gervonta Davis jotted down a cryptic message early today. Given what they said about him, more so after the Regis Prograis fight, a straight line of thought might hazard a guess on Devin Haney and his team as the obvious target. He said to choose a side and stick with it: “Pick yo side and stay there.” Both Davis and ‘The Dream’ share a past, with one of their sparring sessions creating much noise. Otherwise, despite remaining in the same division for a long time, the two never faced off professionally.

Gervonta Davis

May not be equivalent to the Davis-Garcia fight. However, Devin Haney has, in over two fights this year, managed to pull in a competent crowd for his fights. However, ‘Tank’ would have none of it. As all the seats at the Chase Center got filled in, over a tweet that has been deleted, an unimpressed Gervonta Davis called out, “Tickets [were] $57; it should be.” So when the question was raised with him during the post-fight presser, Haney mentioned that Davis may not be too keen on fighting him.

Had he been genuinely interested, instead of picking up petty issues such as fight sales, he would have been busy chasing the matchup, Haney said.

Team Haney: Now we call the shots

Even Bill Haney was unsparing in his criticism. He said, “Tank um and his team have consistently lied uh to the people that created this narrative that because you make money or because you charge the people some astronomical money for a fight that you know know that the guy is going to lose…

Later, while speaking with a bunch of reporters separately, he once called out Gervonta Davis and said that they are ‘free and available.’ Otherwise, options are galore for Devin Haney at 140 pounds. A high probability remains for a Ryan Garcia fight. However, there is Teofimo Lopez and IBF title holder Subriel Matias. Finally, he could always move up a division to 147 pounds. It’s the division where Terence Crawford reigns.

Devin Haney climbed to the super welterweight division to become the champion in his debut fight. With a marvelous performance against Regis Prograis, he has captured the attention of his contemporaries now. Ryan Garcia just established his dominance against Oscar Duarte and for his next challenge, he seems to be interested in Haney. Gervonta Davis‘s name is also making the rounds with Haney’s team calling him out in the post-match conference of the Prograis fight.

Zab Judah, the former light welterweight champion has some advice for the ones wanting to  go up against Haney. In an interview with FightHub TV, Judah adds his two cents to the discussion. Let us find out.

Zab Judah on Devin Haney’s future plans

Judah was nothing short of impressed by Haney’s display on December 9 at 140 pounds. This will unveil a new chapter in the boxing scene. “After tonight’s performance with Devin Haney, the way he came to 140 pounds and dominated tonight, I don’t know man, I see number 32 in the books,” said Davis. However, according to the former boxer, the idea of a matchup with ‘Tank’ Davis remains a bit unrealistic at the moment.

Tank has been campaigning at 135 pounds, and Devin’s move up to 140 may not immediately attract opponents. Despite Davis’ dominance at 135, it’s uncertain if fighters will be eager to face Devin in the ring right now. “I don’t think guys would be running, knocked down the door to fight Devin right now and the ones that do fight Devin, whoever steps in the ring, we’re going to show dominance 100%”. Those who do step up will need to bring their A-game to establish dominance.

Gervonta Davis unwilling to take on Haney?

Haney expressed frustration over ‘Tank’ Davis’s reluctance to face him in the ring. Devin believes that if Davis truly wanted the fight, he would promote it positively instead of trying to undermine its significance. According to Devin, Davis diminishes the potential bout’s value by downplaying its importance and questioning Devin’s selling power.

Bill Haney, Devin’s father and trainer, urged fans not to buy into the alleged lies from Davis and his team. Bill criticized Tank’s team for consistently providing misinformation. In essence, Devin and his team are calling for transparency and a genuine desire from Davis to make the highly anticipated fight happen.

As the names line up, only time will tell who Haney meets inside the ring next. Who do you think Haney will face next? Who do you think would be the right opponent for him?

Two years on from his unanimous decision loss to Gervonta DavisIsaac Cruz has constantly gone after his boxing rival but has now finally been told where to go.

Cruz stepped in to replace Rolando Romero who has to withdraw from a fight against Davis and he impressed, pushing “Tank” further than most and managing to become the second fighter to go the distance with him and the first since 2014.

He did lose the contest via a close UD call and following that has not let up in trying to secure a rematch to avenge the loss and right what he perceives as a wrong in the boxing world.

Now he finally got a response, although not one he hoped as Davis dismissed his challenge by replying to the latest call out via social media writing, “I beat ya a** with one hand.”

For what it’s worth, Davis maintains that he was injured in training heading into their encounter in December 2021 and that he aggravated his injury during their clash. To adapt, he simply boxed and moved instead of gunning for a knockout.

Davis called out by Devin Haney

Following his seventh-round knockout victory over Ryan Garica, fans are wondering when Davis will next step into the ring and thus there is a lot of speculation about his next opponent.

Some believe it will be Devin Haney, the super lightweight champion, but he’s not convinced Davis wants the smoke as Haney bids to set up a fight with Garcia.

“Tank don’t really want to fight,” Davis said after beating Regis Prograis. “Because if he wanted it, he would be trying to talk up the fight, instead of trying to knock it down and saying I’m only selling because of this, or because of that.

“If he really wanted to fight he would be making it. It’s a big fight, it’s the best fight for boxing, but he only talks down on the fight. But like I said, ‘Let’s fight.'”
