Currently at the peak of his career, Gervonta Davis has taken the opportunity to publicly showcase his success.

Unfortunately for ‘Tank,’ many were unapproving of the champion’s recent Instagram story post. Davis took time out on a Sunday afternoon to post a picture of a massive load of cash laid out on a coffee table.

Gervonta Davis has since taken down the post, but it was re-posted by boxing reporter Michael Benson on X.

While there was a slight variety of thoughts on the Instagram story, the general consensus reaction was negative.

Gervonta Davis

Many fans were less than impressed by Davis’ attempted flex, to say the least. Some fans were congratulatory of the WBA Lightweight Champion, but most were unapproving. One fan commented:

Some people questioned Davis’ motive for posting the photo, writing:

Other fans saw similarities to the actions of Floyd Mayweather Jr., with whom Davis has been linked to in the past. Those fans chose to mock Davis, commenting:

Since earning a TKO win over Ryan Garcia in April 2023, ‘Tank’ has been relatively quiet in terms of the next move in his career. Regardless, it appears that the undefeated knockout artist is doing just fine.

Hector Luis Garcia considers his lone loss an aberration.

Ten months after his ninth-round, technical-knockout defeat to Gervonta Davis, the Dominican southpaw plans to prove that he is a much more formidable fighter than he showed that night against one of boxing’s most dangerous knockout artists. Davis rocked Garcia with a left hand late in the eighth round, which helped give Garcia the blurry vision that prevented him from answering the bell to start the ninth round January 7 at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

Garcia (16-1, 10 KOs, 3 NC) will fight for the first time Saturday night since Davis defeated him.

He’ll make a mandated defense of his WBA super featherweight title against Lamont Roach (23-1-1, 9 KOs). The 12-round, 130-pound championship clash between Garcia, 32, and Roach, 28, will open Showtime Pay-Per-View’s four-fight telecast from Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino’s Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas (8 p.m. ET; 5 p.m. PT; $74.99).

FanDuel sportsbook has established Garcia as almost a 4-1 favorite to beat Roach, who has won four fights in a row. Garcia expects a convincing victory over Roach to help him regain some of the momentum he had before he temporarily moved up to the lightweight division to challenge Baltimore’s Davis (29-0, 27 KOs).

Gervonta Davis

“They’re gonna say, ‘There goes the defending champion, the guy that went out there and successfully defended his throne at 130 pounds,’ ” Garcia said through his translator during a virtual press conference recently. “And, more than anything, I’m gonna prove that what happened against Gervonta Davis was a fluke and that it’s never gonna happen again. No excuses.”

Roach, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, is confident that he is the best opponent of Garcia’s career other than Davis. Garcia contended during the abovementioned virtual press conference that his two most recent conquests, former 130-pound champions Chris Colbert (17-1, 6 KOs) and Roger Gutierrez (27-5-1, 21 KOs), are both better fighters than Roach.

Regardless, Roach reminded Garcia of what he said.

“I like that – no excuse,” Roach said. “That’s what I like to hear. I’m not tryna hear anything. He won’t hear anything from me, either. It’s no excuse on this end. That’s the name of my gym, No Excuse. So, I like that.”

Garcia-Roach will be one of three bouts broadcast before David Benavidez (27-0, 23 KOs) will defend his WBC interim super middleweight title against Demetrius Andrade (32-0, 19 KOs) in the 12-round main event.

A handful of names in the lightweight division stand above others. Ryan GarciaShakur StevensonDevin Haney, and Gervonta Davis; this story involves all those names. In a recent twist of events, the San Francisco native subtly threw a jab at ‘King Ry’ and his renowned fight against Gervonta Davis. The development surfaced after a recent X (formerly Twitter) scuffle between Shakur Stevenson and Garcia on a similar topic.

America’s Favorite Video Today

Previously, Ryan Garcia boldly claimed that Gervonta Davis needed him to make big-money fights. The Victorville native even claimed that he could make bigger fights than Davis alone. While the validity of Ryan’s statement is left to an individual’s perception, Haney seems to think against it. While appearing in an interview with Fight Hub TV, Haney hit back at Garcia’s claim while contemplating a fight against ‘Tank’ Davis.

Devin Haney claims he is focused on Regis Prograis

While speaking to the reporter from Fight Hub, Haney mocked Garcia’s current fight ticket sales while claiming a fight between him and Garcia would be huge. “Me and Ryan is a huge fight. We see how his tickets are going, though,” Haney said mockingly. He proceeded to highlight what Ryan had said about his fight with Davis. “He said that he’s the reason why Tank sold all those pay-per-views,” Haney remarked on Ryan’s claim. ‘The Dream’ Haney followed that by implying that Ryan’s upcoming fight isn’t selling well.

Gervonta Davis

“He’s probably not even selling right now,” said Haney. Later, during the interview, Haney claimed it shows how big a fight with Gervonta Davis would be. “It just shows how big of a fight me and Tank Davis would be,” said Haney. However, turning to his upcoming fight, the undefeated boxer claimed he was solely focused on the Regis Prograis fight. “My main focus is Regis Prograis,” said Haney. What’s more, this isn’t the first time Garcia has gotten into a squabble regarding PPV sales involving the Davis fight.

Ryan Garcia boasts about his PPV sales with Gervonta Davis

Recently, ‘King Ry’ got involved in an X feud with Shakur Stevenson. Fiery verbal jabs were exchanged. In one of those tweets, Ryan Garcia found himself boasting about the fight sales numbers while putting down Shakur Stevenson after his fight against Edwin De Los Santos.

“We broke records and made life-changing money,” wrote Garcia. He further mentioned that the Shakur fight broke records for the least amount of punches thrown in a fight while insulting his ticket sales. “You broke a record of the least punches ever landed in a twelve-round fight and made not even 10% of what we made,” wrote Garcia.

Ahead of his fight against Regis Prograis, the undefeated Haney subtly jabs at Ryan Garcia while speculating about a fight with Gervonta Davis. However, the burning question is – do you agree with Haney’s statement?

Hector Luis Garcia considers what happened closer to the beginning of the eighth round of his fight against Gervonta Davis as impactful as the damaging left hand Davis landed toward the end of it.

The Dominican southpaw recalled during an interview with BoxingScene.com that a break in the action caused by a fight among fans at ringside January 7 disrupted his rhythm and made the bout more difficult for him once the action resumed. Referee Earl Brown stopped their lightweight title fight with 2:08 to go in the eighth round once he noticed the commotion that attracted a lot of attention near the ring.

Brown sent Garcia and Davis to neutral corners while security escorted a group of fans from their ringside seats at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. Garcia grew cold, he said, by the time he and Davis were brought back together.

Davis drilled him with a left hand that wobbled Garcia with just under 20 seconds remaining in the eighth round. Garcia remained on his feet until the eighth round ended, but blurry vision left him unable to continue.

Brown declared Davis the winner by technical knockout early in the ninth round. Baltimore’s Davis led on the scorecards of judges Steve Rodas (79-73), Wayne Smith (79-73) and Dave Moretti (78-74) through eight rounds.

Gervonta Davis

“I specifically remember that the fight was stopped in the eighth round because there was a fight outside of the ring,” Garcia said, according to his translator. “And that really screwed me up. It made me cold. I couldn’t warm up again. And then, once I felt like I couldn’t get warmed up again, it locked me up. So, I feel like that was the moment that truly turned things against me. I was wondering why they stopped the fight at that time. That’s the moment that I’ve replayed in my mind.”

Garcia (16-1, 10 KOs, 3 NC) will fight for the first time Saturday night since he suffered his first professional loss versus Davis (29-0, 27 KOs), who retained his WBA world lightweight title that night. He has moved back down to the 130-pound division to defend his WBA super featherweight crown against mandatory challenger Lamont Roach (23-1-1, 9 KOs), of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, on the Showtime Pay-Per-View portion of the David Benavidez-Demetrius Andrade undercard at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino’s Michelob ULTRA Arena (8 p.m. ET; 5 p.m. PT; $74.99).

The 32-year-old Garcia is fully focused on Roach, yet he can help but wonder what would’ve happened had the abovementioned break in the action not occurred during the biggest fight of his career nine months ago.

“There was a fight outside the ring, and then the fight resumed,” Garcia said. “That’s when Gervonta landed a really good punch against me, and it made my vision blurry. I was seeing double. I was there physically, defending myself, but when I looked at him all I could see was a blur.

“I remember watching the fight again on TV and I saw myself going to the wrong corner, to Gervonta’s corner, and the referee kind of turned me around, like, ‘Nope, this isn’t your corner. You’ve gotta go that way.’ That made me say, ‘Oh, f—! I was really messed up, huh?’ And then the rest is history, how the fight got stopped and everything.”

In stark contrast to his recent 44-day prison stint, boxing star Gervonta Davis was seen in a new light this Thanksgiving. Fresh from a jail term for violating his home detention, Davis’s actions outside the ring are causing a stir. Known for his ferocity in the ring, he is now turning heads for a different reason. He was spotted distributing turkeys to the homeless.

But here’s the twist: Davis, a figure typically surrounded by controversy and accolades, was serving the community in an unexpected role. No punches thrown, no crowds cheering – just a simple act of giving. This shift from a jailbird to a benefactor raises eyebrows and questions alike. What drives a celebrated boxer to tread this path of generosity?

Charity or chore? The debate over Gervonta Davis’ Thanksgiving act

The photograph that sparked widespread attention captured Gervonta Davis in a humbler setting than the boxing rings he’s known for dominating. In the image, he is seen with a beanie and mask, holding a plate with bread, embodying the role of a giver rather than a fighter. The scene is a far cry from the glamour and intensity of his usual public appearances.

Firstly, one fan suggested a long-standing belief in Davis’s inherent goodness. Implying that his charitable act was in line with his true character.

Another fan acknowledged that whether the act was court-ordered or not, its beneficial impact remained significant. This stance highlights a recognition of the complexity surrounding Davis’s actions, considering his recent legal troubles

One fan, however, was more direct, pointing out the possibility that Davis’s involvement in the charity event might be a part of his court-ordered community service

These varied responses collectively paint a picture of a public figure whose actions, regardless of their intent, have sparked a range of interpretations and discussions among his audience. Terence Crawford, another boxer also celebrated Thanksgiving by doing something unexpected.

Crawford’s impressive skills beyond the ring

In an unexpected twist, Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford, renowned for his prowess in the boxing ring, showcased his culinary talents during Thanksgiving. The video reveals Crawford meticulously preparing a turkey, a task that stands in stark contrast to his athletic ferocity. Fans were quick to express their admiration, highlighting Crawford’s versatility and suggesting a new moniker, “Peoples Champ,” inspired by his multifaceted persona

This glimpse into Crawford’s life outside the ring invites us to ponder the hidden hobbies and skills of other renowned athletes. What other surprising talents might our favorite sports icons be hiding? Share your thoughts and guesses in the comments below.

In April this year, Ryan Garcia and  Gervonta Davis finally had their anticipated match. Both boxers were around the same age and boasted undefeated records. Not to mention, the boxing world had taken a keen interest in seeing who would get the better of the other. Subsequently, when the bout was finalized, it was record-breaking and financially lucrative.

Although Garcia was defeated via a stoppage in the seventh round, it seems that Garcia is intent on having a rematch, but only if Gervonta Davis comes begging for it.

Is Garcia vs Davis 2 a possibility?

It would be hard to deny that a rematch would be lucrative. Banking on the same, the 25-year-old claims that Tank is not a big enough draw without a good dance partner. In addition, he asserts that in order to sell a significant amount of pay-per-views, he must agree to have another go in the ring.

Gervonta Davis

Reflecting on the same, he stated, “He’s going to have to come to me. Do you know why? He can’t sell PPVs. He can’t be a star if he’s doing 150,000 buys… At the end of the day, they are all going to need me. I can make way bigger fights than he can make by himself. He should be thanking me, I just blessed him with around $ 30 million”

One may debate and question Garcia. However, there may be some underlying truth to his comments that may incentivize Davis to agree to a rematch. Moreover, if the bout does take place, Kingry finds himself to be superior.

Ryan Garcia makes a bold claim about his rematch with Tank

A couple of days ago, Garcia made a bold claim in which he argued that he was a shell of himself in the first bout with, ‘Tank.’ And that in a second opportunity, he would get the better of the undefeated boxer. In an interview, he stated, “He knows that it wasn’t who I really was, and I don’t care what anybody says. That’s not me. I don’t fight like that, and I’m way better than that. I’m better than him and I just gotta prove myself now.”

In addition, he revealed that he would do whatever it takes to get the rematch. Moreover, if and when the rematch takes place, we are curious to know, how you see it playing out. Share with us your thoughts and opinions with us in the comments below.

Lamont Roach saw weakness in Hector Luis Garcia when he watched Gervonta Davis stop the Dominican southpaw in Garcia’s last fight.

Garcia’s reaction to Davis’ devastating punches late in the eighth round has convinced Roach that he can make the WBA super featherweight champion wilt when they meet in a 12-round, 130-pound title fight Saturday night in Las Vegas. Roach (23-1-1, 9 KOs) has knocked out only 36 percent of his opponents as a pro, yet he is confident he can stop Garcia (16-1, 10 KOs, 3 NC) inside the distance in Showtime Pay-Per-View’s opener on the David Benavidez-Demetrius Andrade undercard at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino’s Michelob ULTRA Arena (8 p.m. ET; 5 p.m. PT; $74.99).

“Man, I’m from the trenches,” Roach said during a virtual press conference recently. “Man, I’m sticking to my guns, for sure. Like that’s what I’m here for. Mind you, I was there for that Tank fight. Like I was there, front row. Like I was there. I seen Tank take the fight out of him. I think I can do the same thing. I know I can, for sure – for sure, for sure. So, I hope he ain’t gun-shy, cuz it might be quick.”

The 28-year-old Roach, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, is the WBA’s mandatory challenger for Garcia’s championship. He’ll end a 16-month layoff when he squares off against Garcia in his first fight since Roach defeated Venezuela’s Angel Rodriguez (21-3, 11 KOs) by unanimous decision in a 12-rounder that took place in July 2022 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

The 32-year-old Garcia has moved back down from the 135-pound division to his natural weight class after suffering his first professional loss to Davis (29-0, 27 KOs). Baltimore’s Davis drilled Garcia with a left hand that hurt him toward the end of the eighth round of what had been a somewhat competitive contest January 7 at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

A staggered Garcia started to walk to the wrong corner after the eighth round ended. He complained about blurry vision between the eighth and ninth rounds, which prompted referee Earl Brown to halt the action very early in the ninth round.

Garcia, who is listed by FanDuel sportsbook as almost a 4-1 favorite over Roach, was unfazed by Roach’s tough talk during the abovementioned virtual press conference.

“Let him talk,” Garcia said, according to his translator. “Lamont Roach, like most American fighters, what they do is they like to talk. That’s his thing. Good for him. But my responsibility is to defend that title and exit the ring walking out like a champion. So, that’s what I’m gonna focus on. I’m not a big talker. I prefer to talk inside the ring, and that’s exactly what I’m gonna do.”

Gervonta Davis is one of the most prominent rising prospects in the world of boxing. Known for his explosive power and impressive speed, Davis has left almost every opponent he has faced so far on the canvas. At just the age of 29 years old, he already has an undefeated record with 27 of his 29 victories coming via a knockout. His knockout performance earlier this year against Ryan Garcia was a testament to his skill being levels above his contemporaries.

However, after his April fight, he didn’t return to the ring and doesn’t appear to have any plans to do so either for the remainder of the year. This is also because of him finding himself in trouble with the law. However, it appears that another opponent for the boxing champion has turned up. So what happens when the boxing sensation gets challenged by a rapper to a no-gloves fight?

Claressa Shields is left in disbelief as a rapper challenges Gervonta Davis

The surprising situation took place when rapper HoneyKomb Brazy had a bone to pick with none other than the WBA lightweight champion. In an Instagram Live, he boldly claimed, “Tank Davis? Who the fuck is Tank Davis? Tank that got knocked out a couple times in the ring with n****s. Tank that got dropped with gloves on- ain’t no gloves on these b***hes”. He even predicted the whole sequence of the brawl that would take place between them.

Gervonta Davis

He claimed that he would simply drop Davis even stating, “Not today Tank. Down goes Frazier, ain’t no way. Ain’t no way here, I swear to god I’ll beat the f**k outta Tank Davis. I know that for a fact.” As the news surfaced on social media it left the fans in disbelief over the rapper’s bold predictions. However, even the undisputed champion Claressa Shields was utterly baffled by this as she shared the video with her followers. She even wrote, “the AUDACITY!”, indicating her surprise at the call out.

We all know it is not in Davis’ nature to back down from a fight and Brazy’s bold challenge received a swift response.

Davis wants all the smoke

Those who know ‘Tank’ would have seen this coming as the Baltimore native doesn’t let any disrespect slide. So naturally when the news of the callout reached him, he didn’t hesitate to pick up the challenge. Interestingly Davis asked Brazy for a no gloves fight after his comments on Davis fighting with gloves on. Davis wrote, “We can catch the one no gloves on.” At the time the rapper appeared bold as he claimed, “When you want to do it I’m really like that I’m not dodging no smoke @gervontaa real prison baby”.

However, as the boxer readily agreed to the fight, it seems that the reality quickly set in for the rapper. After the young boxer sent a message to the rapper writing, “Ion no fight coming up so we can do it asap.” Surprisingly Brazy quickly folded as he wrote, “Man yall tell tank leave me alone fr…I was just talking shh fr I be betting on you every time I respect yo gangsta.” He even posted a screenshot of his conversation with Davis.

It appears fans will not get to see Davis in an all-out no gloves fight for now. What are your thoughts about the whole situation? Did you want Davis to fight the rapper?

The bout between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis was a box-office success by all accounts.

Their April showdown generated approximately 1.2 million pay-per-view buys and $22.8 million in ticket revenue.

Although Garcia lost the fight due to a seventh-round knockout, he believes he’s a significant reason why the fight was a blockbuster, and why Davis will entertain the idea of giving him a rematch down the line.

“He’s going to have to come to me. Do you know why? Because he can’t sell pay-per-views,” Garcia told BoxingScene.com in an interview.

“He can’t be a star if he’s doing 150,000 buys [before fighting me]. How can he be a star? I popped him up, remember that. I gave him some stardom. Now, he’s poppin’. You need two fighters to tango. So if he thinks he can come back and fight some random dude and do a PPV, he’s not. But we’ll see what he does.”

Gervonta Davis

Davis has starred in six straight PPV events and has been a multi-city draw across the United States during that stretch, beating the likes of Leo Santa Cruz, Mario Barrios, Isaac Cruz, Rolando Romero, and Hector Luis Garcia along the way.

The 135-pound knockout artist enforced a 136-pound catchweight for the Ryan Garcia clash, and Garcia has since stepped up back to 140 pounds, as he’ll be making his return on Dec. 2 against Oscar Duarte at the Toyota Center in Houston on DAZN.

Davis and Garcia are among a talented group featuring the likes of Devin Haney, Teofimo Lopez Jr., Shakur Stevenson, and Regis Prograis, among many others, who can make big fights with one another.

Garcia says he’s the cream of the crop as the marquee attraction for future mega fights.

“At the end of the day, they are all going to need me, and that’s just facts,” said Garcia. “I can make way bigger fights than [Davis] than he can make by himself. So he’s going to have to see me for the money because he likes money. He should be thanking me. I just blessed him with around $30 million. He should be like, ‘damn, alright you’re a good guy.’ But he’s always poking jabs and talking sh!t because he knows that wasn’t me [in the fight].”

It’s been a while since the powerful jabs of Gervonta Davis echoed in a boxing arena. But now, with the closure of the year, the chances of his venturing into the ring remain far on the horizon for early 2024. In this light, updates have come in that Davis would not mind fighting against Rapper HoneyKomb Brazy. However, the latter seems to want to escape the offer.

America’s Favorite Video Today

Davis was last seen in the ring against Ryan Garcia in April this year. ‘Tank’ won against Garcia through an impressive technical knockout. However, Tank was embroiled in legal entanglements stemming from his November 2020 car crash. And now, months later, as he prepares for his comeback in the ring, he’s asking to fight Brazy. The latter, however, seems reluctant to do so.

“We can do it asap,” Gervonta Davis shows interest in fighting a rapper

Gervonta Davis

Mostly in jest, Davis messaged the rapper, saying, “Ion no fight coming up so we can do it asap.” But who would want to go against Tank? Especially a rapper like Brazy who’s not trained enough to fight such a massive opponent. In response, the rapper posted a screengrab of their banter. He wrote, “Man yall tell tank leave me alone fr…I was just talking shh fr I be betting on you every time I respect yo gangsta.”

It all started when Tank sent a shout-out to Brazy on his Instagram stories. The 28-year-old fighter wrote, “We can catch the one no gloves on.” In response to Davis’ call for a fight with no gloves, the rapper wrote, “When you want to do it I’m really like that I’m not dodging no smoke @gervontaa real prison baby” The rapper has recently released his new song titled, “Letter to God.” The release has been garnering good responses from his well-wishers. Meanwhile, there is serious drama brewing on the Ryan Garcia-Gervonta Davis front.

KingRy calls on Davis for a rematch

In a recent conversation with Fight Hub TV, Ry furthered his desperation to get his rematch against Tank. The fighter suggested that he’d be ready to fight and defeat Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney just to reach Tank again. Ry also sought the rematch at a heavier weight than his initial April fight. He remarked, “I’m way better than that, and I’m better than him. I don’t care if he beat me, I’m better than him. Give me my rematch and I’ll beat him. Im going to build myself up again… If I’ve gotta go through a Teofimo Lopez or a Devin Haney to get that, then I’m gonna do it.”

While updates on the rematch remain scarce, Ry will now be seen against Oscar Duarte Jurado on December 2. Do you think Ry would be able to redeem himself against Tank? Let us know in the comments section below.
