Gervonta Davis is seemingly in line for a major fight in the coming months, according to his trainer Calvin Ford.

The American lightweight star has already boxed twice in 2023 – stopping Hector Luis Garcia in January and Ryan Garcia in April.

In June though, Davis was sent to jail and spent a total of 44 days behind bars.

Tank had initially avoided jail time over his November 2020 hit-and-run car crash which injured four people because he accepted a plea deal and pled guilty to four traffic offences.

However, not even a month after his sentencing, Davis was jailed after all as he violated the terms of his home detention order and was ordered to be incarcerated for the rest of his sentence.

He was released in July and has since been eyeing a ring return for either late 2023 or early 2024.

There have been rumours linking Tank to a rematch with Isaac Cruz, and even social media trolling that has led fans to believe he’ll be facing Keith Thurman next.

In truth, the identity of Davis’ next opponent remains a mystery at this point.

“Right now, something big is coming,” his trainer Calvin Ford said on
The Rize Podcast, “I can tell you that.

“It’s quiet for a reason. They’re trying to seal the deal.

It’s gonna make the world turn.”

Fans have guessed a variety of names including Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney, Shakur Stevenson and Vasyl Lomachenko.

Time will tell who Davis actually fights next.

In the wake of Teofimo Lopez resuming his boxing training, Lopez’s manager and Gervonta Davis‘ trainer entertained the idea of a potential Lopez vs. Davis. While Calvin Ford who trains ‘Tank’ Davis found the idea “wonderful,” David McWater who manages ‘The Takeover’ Lopez declared that his client would certainly be interested in such a big fight. Likewise, McWater publicly stated that Lopez would square off against Davis one day.

As per current circumstances, neither Davis nor Lopez has a scheduled opponent. At this, it is likely that the bout will take place in no time. In this context, as fans hope for a clash between Lopez and Davis, the former recently met the ‘Einstein of Wall Street.’

Teofimo Lopez enjoying holidays in NYC

In his last fight, Lopez competed for the WBO super lightweight title against Josh Taylor. Following a UD victory against Taylor, in a shocking statement, the 26-year-old declared that he was retiring from the sport of boxing. Claiming he was “tired of bullying,” ‘The Takeover’ said he needed a break. As a result, stating he had “shined bright,” the 26-year-old hung his gloves. However, now that he is back, ahead of a comeback fight, Lopez found himself with the ‘Einstein of Wall Street.’

Taking to Instagram, in one of his stories, Lopez shared his brief interaction with Peter Tuchman aka the ‘Einstein of Wall Street.’ Having met the former unified lightweight champion, Tuchman was genuinely happy. And ahead of his rumored bout with Davis, Tuchman said, “The champ. Teofimo Lopez, let’s go. It’s ‘The Takeover’.

In this connection, following the statements by McWater and Ford, as fans hope for the fight with ‘Tank,’ it is worth mentioning that Lopez had earlier slammed Davis.

In the wake of his victory against Taylor, Lopez said he was fighting everyone from the boxers to the judges who scored his fight. In this context, on being asked about a fight with Davis at a catchweight, ‘The Takeover’ feared that the fight would never come to fruition. Hence, he slammed Gervonta publicly. Out loud, he said, “Gervonta, you are a p***y. You are a b***ch“.

With that said, do you think the bout will happen? If it does, who will you root for, Lopez or Davis? In addition, what is your reaction to ‘The Takeover’ with Tuchman

There’s a rampaging ‘Tank’ searching for a kill. And from what it appears, it has a target in the crosshairs. It didn’t take much to fire the first parting shot. Professionally, the year had been fantastic for Gervonta Davis. After a successful title defense in January, the Baltimorean boxer scored one of the most decisive victories of recent times against Ryan Garcia in April. However, it is on the personal front that he has had to suffer a few setbacks.

On July 14th, Davis came out of jail after serving 44 days of the 90-day house arrest sentence he received for the 2020 road accident case. Amidst streams of talks on match-ups, he has yet to make a return to the ring. However, that hasn’t prevented the southpaw from taking now-and-then digs. For instance, he went after renowned trainer Robert Garcia and his charge, Raymond Muratalla, who recently scored a knockout victory over Diego Torres Nunez. But for reasons still not clear, the latest developments came when the world champion shared his apprehensions over how a few legal restrictions could impact training.

An upcoming foe, the ‘Tank’?

Soon after Muratalla became the North American Boxing Federation Lightweight Champion as well as the WBO Global Lightweight Champion, Robert Garcia took to his X account and said how everyone has started not to sing what he and his team have been witnessing for some time in the gym. Raymond Muratalla is now ready for anyone in the Lightweight division. 16 of Muratalla’s 19 victories came through knockouts. No wonder ‘Danger’ has emerged as one of the foremost prospects in the Lightweight division to reckon with.

FightHype uploaded a short clip today. It showed screenshots of Robert Garcia’s tweets. But it was followed by a response from Gervonta Davis as well. The WBA Lightweight champion wrote, “On my momma, that n**a a** @GarciaBoxing.

Could the shade-throwing be inferred as an attempt to gradually make a move for the next match-up?

Gervonta Davis: between rumors and reality

It should be noted that since the Garcia fight followed by the jail term, ‘Tank’s name has come up against the likes of Terence Crawford, unified Lightweight champion Devin Haney, and Shakur Stevenson. However, barring the update on the Isaac Cruz rematch, most thus appear as passing talks only. Davis recently shared clips of him getting back in the gym and training with fans. But from what it seems and given the time left in the year, in all likelihood, a return from one of the faces of boxing could be expected by the early months of next year only. Fans will have to wait until such time to see their icon back in the ring.

Floyd Mayweather, often known as “Money” Mayweather, can be regarded as one of the greatest boxers in the history of the sport. He is a legendary figure in the world of combat sports. With his undefeated professional record of 50-0, he managed to carve himself an almost unmatched legacy with the help of his incredible skills, work ethic, and brilliant talent. Interestingly, his interest in boxing can be attributed to his family being deeply entrenched in the sport. Under his father and uncle’s guidance, he developed his passion. This burst him forth and he managed to reach the pinnacle of the sport.America’s Favorite Video Today

Even though his style was criticized again and again by boxing pundits, nothing could stop the boxing legend on his path to success. He fought some of the greatest fighters of his era and still managed to keep himself out of harm’s way while remaining undefeated. Not only that but he also became one of the highest-paid athletes of all time. The only boxer who could come close to him in PPV sales in this era is Gervonta Davis. Thus the question arises- if he and Terence Crawford ever fought each other, would they be able to leave Mayweather’s legacy in the dust?

Floyd Mayweather still tops the chart of PPV sales

Mayweather has been a huge name in the world of boxing and as such whenever he fought, he would have the attention of the whole boxing world. He has fought some of the biggest names in the sport and thus has reached such high PPV sales that it has still not been topped by other fighters. Some of these fights are-

Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao

In what was hailed as the ‘Fight of the Century’ in 2015, Floyd Mayweather took on Manny Pacquiao in a bout that had been years in the making. Mayweather, known for his defensive prowess, went toe-to-toe with Pacquiao, who was considered one of the most exciting brawlers in the sport. Mayweather emerged victorious via a unanimous decision. This fight generated a record-breaking 4.6 million pay-per-view (PPV) buys, making it the most lucrative boxing match in history.

Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor

In 2017, Floyd Mayweather crossed over into the world of mixed martial arts to face UFC superstar Conor McGregor. This bout was highly anticipated and hyped as a showdown between two different combat sports. Mayweather’s boxing skills ultimately prevailed, and he won by TKO in the 10th round. The fight generated an astounding 4.3 million PPV buys, demonstrating the crossover appeal of both fighters

Mayweather vs. Canelo Álvarez

Mayweather’s bout against Canelo Álvarez in 2013 showcased his unmatched boxing skills. Mayweather used his experience and defensive tactics to defeat the young and aggressive Álvarez, maintaining his undefeated record. The fight sold 2.2 million PPV buys, solidifying Mayweather’s status as the sport’s biggest draw.

Mayweather vs. Oscar De La Hoya

In 2007, Mayweather faced Oscar De La Hoya in a super-fight that lived up to the hype. Mayweather won a split decision, showcasing his boxing IQ and defensive mastery. This bout generated 2.4 million PPV buys, at the time, setting a new record and establishing Mayweather as a PPV superstar.

These four fights not only highlighted Mayweather’s boxing skills but also his ability to attract viewers. His incredible success in the PPV market has made him one of the most financially successful athletes in the history of professional sports.

Gervonta Davis vs Terence Crawford: A Potential PPV record?

Earlier this year, Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia went toe-to-toe in a highly anticipated fight that attracted the attention of the whole boxing world. Moreover, the fight achieved record-breaking sales as the PPV number reached a whopping 1.2 million. With this fight, Davis solidified his status as a true boxing talent. Meanwhile, Terence Crawford is also another name that shined brightly over others. He defeated his long-standing rival Errol Spence Jr. and became the first two-division undisputed champion.

With such accomplishments under their belt, any fights these boxers pick will receive a lot of attention from fans. However, what if the two decide to fight against one another? Interestingly, they had engaged in a brief back-and-forth. Davis appeared interested in a fight against Crawford and ‘Bud’ is never one to back down from a challenge. However, Davis soon made it clear that he was only joking around and that he wasn’t interested in the fight at the time. But with the popularity of these two fighters, if a fight could be made, it would undoubtedly break the record Davis and Garcia made earlier this year.

It may even snatch the position from one of Mayweather’s fights and create a history of its own. What do you think about the potential fight between Davis and Crawford? Do you think it would be able to break past all the records? Do share your thoughts in the comments below.

Sean O’Malley is one of the popular UFC fighters who has given a great show to the MMA community every time he has stepped foot inside the cage. He is a prospect UFC is gambling on to become an asset like former two-weight champion Conor McGregor. Interestingly, using his stardom, ‘Suga’ is making big moves outside UFC too, and one of them is crossover boxing.

The 29-year-old fighter has shown interest in a boxing crossover several times, and among all the names coming up for the opponent, Gervonta Davis is the most common. The two have even been involved in a back-and-forth on the internet. However, O’Malley’s recent remarks about boxers didn’t settle well with fans.

During an interview with TheMMAHour, he expressed how boxers cannot match his skills and that they will easily tap out. He said that he could easily beat skilled boxers like Gervonta Davis, Shakur Stevenson, and Devin Haney, all of them in a MMA bout in just one night. He said:

A fan reacted to the statement by comparing the top athletes of two completely different sports and said: “Lebron James says he would beat Messi, Ronaldo & Neymar in a basketball game”

Another fan commented, “Lol. He’s the one begging to go box them because he knows there’s no money in MMA.”

Sean O’Malley’s skills, record, and amusing persona justify his similarity to that of the Irishman. That being said, Sean O’Malley wants to follow in ‘The Notorious’ and transcend the MMA cage soon. However, before that he has another challenge coming up for him in the UFC.

Sean O’Malley vs. Marlon Vera next

UFC head honcho Dana White recently announced three pay-per-views for 2024. One of which is UFC 299, which will be headlined by Sean O’Malley vs. Marlon Vera for the bantamweight title.

This will be the second time the bantamweight stars will meet inside the cage. Earlier, ‘Suga’ faced Vera at UFC 252 and suffered his first UFC defeat via knockout in the first round.

Since then, there has been bad blood between the two, and this will only add to the excitement of the fans. It will be O’Malley’s first-ever title defense and also a chance for redemption.

Keeping in mind the growing stardom, Sean O’Malley, the fighter, is expected to go above and beyond in the combat world. However, it remains to be seen how he performs against his old rival. And also if the UFC star enters boxing waters someday.

Not the best news for Gervonta Davis‘s fans. Even the best have their baggage to carry and for Davis, it is the consequences of his own doing. In February, Davis pleaded guilty to a hit-and-run incident from 2020 in a Baltimore court. His sentencing, initially set for May 5, was delayed. Davis also confessed to four traffic offences, including injuring a pregnant woman during the accident.

The last fight of Davis had him battling Ryan Garcia in front of a packed audience of 20,842. Five-division champion Davis emerged triumphant, delivering a potent straight left to Garcia’s body. This blow caused a delayed reaction from Garcia, leading him to take a knee. Will we get to see him in action again? ‘Tank’ has revealed he might not grace the ring again. Why though?

More trouble for Gervonta Davis

Gervonta Davis

In a legal twist, Davis, facing a potential seven-year prison term, the court initially sentenced him to 90 days of house arrest instead. Originally, he faced two years in prison along with 60 days. However, in June 2023, Davis found himself back in custody for violating home detention terms. During an unexpected hearing, he was ordered to serve the remaining 90 days in jail. Surprisingly, instead of complying with the rules, Davis opted for a luxurious stay at a penthouse inside the Four Seasons, raising eyebrows in legal circles. There might just be more trouble in store for the champion.

Responding to a fan’s question about Davis’s comeback, he said “Maybe never..the judge won’t like me leave for proper training. Might be over!” Owing to these legal controversies, Davis is unable to train the right way to prepare for a match. Davis might stop even trying to land another match for himself. Some believe these are nothing but excuses and Davis should take responsibility for his actions.

‘Tank’s legal history

Aside from his boxing career, Davis has faced numerous legal issues. In December 2022, he was arrested for Battery Causing Bodily Harm in Fort Lauderdale, FL. However, the accuser withdrew her accusations and Davis was free again. With the accuser retracting the statement, Davis successfully defended his WBA regular lightweight title against Garcia in January.

In fact, let us take it back to 2017. Davis faced accusations of first-degree aggravated assault, later reduced to misdemeanor second-degree assault, stemming from an incident where he allegedly punched his childhood friend, Anthony Wheeler. Wheeler eventually dropped the charges. In 2018, the police arrested Davis for disorderly conduct after a street fight. Another arrest followed in 2020 when he was charged with misdemeanor simple battery domestic violence, captured on video grabbing his child’s mother aggressively. However, the prosecution eventually dropped the charges in the Miami-Dade County court.

Fans might face some disappointment with this news. However, nothing has been officially confirmed as of yet. It still remains a possibility. Do you think Davis is making excuses? Would he retire for good?

Mexican-American boxer Ryan García is considered one of the sport’s greatest prospects, as the 25-year-old, is ranked as the world’s fourth-best active lightweight by The Ring magazine, and the sixth-best active junior welterweight by ESPN

However, he lost in his biggest fight to date against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis on April 22, being knocked out in the seventh round. The fight was a commercial success, selling over 1.2 million PPVs on Showtime, with now García looking to redeem himself in his next fight.

Oscar de la Hoya backs him up

Ahead of García’s next fight on December 2 against Oscar Duarte, legendary fighter and his promoter, Oscar de la Hoya spoke with TMZ Sports and boldly stated that Ryan is destined to be the boxing next superstar.

García was undefeated up until his loss against ‘Tank’ Davis, holding now a 23-1 record, with 19 wins by KO. He has fought under the super featherweight, lightweight, and light welterweight categories.

As an amateur won 15 national championships and had a 215-15 record

It’ll be a while till we see Gervonta Davis get back to boxing. However, that has not stopped him from being part of the sport’s affairs. While he braces for his return to the ring, he has endorsed a friend of his for his upcoming April fight. Such endorsement comes in the wake of Davis being AWOL from the sport owing to the time he spent in jail over June.

The lightweight champion spent about 44 days in jail after a Baltimore judge revoked his home arrest. The sentencing pertains to his November 2020 car crash that injured four people, including a pregnant woman. The law enforcement department ordered him a 90-day house arrest at his coach Calvin Ford’s house. However, official records suggest that the fighter initially spent the time in a luxury hotel. Later, he bought a new place for himself. Now that he’s a free man, he’s back to training. While doing so, he has also set the premise for his friend’s upcoming fight.

“Stay Tuned,” Gervonta Davis Endorses the Barbados fight

Recently, ‘Tank’ Davis was featured on Cobia Breedy’s social media to promote the featherweight fighter’s return to the ring. Tank asked his fans to “stay tuned” for the fight that is set to take its course in April next year in a Barbados Arena. The 32-year-old fighter roots himself in the DC Destroyers team.

The opponent for ‘Soldier’ Breedy has not been disclosed yet. However, the fighter is going all out in seeking endorsements for this fight. It will be his re-entry into the ring after a long sabbatical. He last fought against Sulaiman Segawa in October 2021. The fight ended in a no-contest, no-decision result. Come April 2024, he will return to the sport in hopes of starting from where he left off. That’s all about Breedy. But when is Tank returning to the ring?

Tank will headline in early 2024

Gervonta Davis

It’s been a while since the fighter has finished his jail time. Yet, he remains away from the ring. The boxing realm has desperately sought clarifications as to when he would return to the ring, and now he has cleared all the air on this front. Earlier, in a social media post, Tank declared that he would be taking the rest of this year to work on his personal life. But in 2024, he will be back in the ring.

While the possible opponents for his next fight remain undisclosed, there has been one fighter who has already thrown his name in the hat. Devin Haney, who is all set to fight Regis Prograis in the super-lightweight division, has said that he would want to take the “biggest fight in boxing” against Tank. However, he says that for such a fight to happen, it’ll need to be at a higher weight. In response, Tank’s coach refuted the idea saying, “I feel like people are trying to suck him away from 135 to protect certain people. We’ve got unfinished business at 135, you know what I mean?”

He further added, “If he can make 135, why can’t he fight Tank at 135? It’s crazy. He don’t have any more power at 140 – I don’t see it anyway. I watched him tap the bag the other day. Claressa Shields hit the bag harder than that.” Regardless, the coach also feels that the ‘Dream’ using Tank’s name is yet another attempt to sell his upcoming fight.

Haney will fight against Regis Prograis on the 9th of December at the Chase Centre in San Francisco. Tank’s future bouts, on the other hand, remain shrouded in uncertainty. He last fought against Ryan Garcia to only win through a resounding 7th round knockout. Who do you think Tank should fight next? Let us know in the comments section below.

Gervonta Davis, the rising star in the world of boxing, has been attracting attention from his rivals who are eager to challenge him. After his victory over Ryan Garcia in April, which was hailed as the biggest commercial fight of the year, Davis has become one of the hottest properties in the sport. It is estimated that the fight brought in over 1 million pay-per-view buys, solidifying his status as a box office draw.

However, Davis has recently been making headlines for his actions outside of the ring rather than inside it. He found himself serving time in jail after breaking a house arrest order, which is not the first time he has had trouble with the law.

Despite this, Davis believes that his own actions are the only thing that can jeopardize his superstardom. When asked about potential challengers like Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson, Davis confidently stated: “The only person that could beat me is Gervonta Davis. Those others cannot touch me at all.”

Gervonta Davis

Davis has sparred with both Haney and Stevenson in the past and claims to have come out on top. He dismisses Haney as a threat, saying: “Devin Haney is no 50/50 fight. How are you going to keep me off him when he’s got no power?” Davis even recalls a sparring session where he almost knocked Haney out in Floyd Mayweather‘s gym. These statements show Davis’ self-assuredness and belief in his own abilities.

He’s focused on his return to the ring

While a potential fight with Haney may have to wait as he moves up to the 140 lbs weight class to take on Regis Prograis, Davis is focused on his own return to the ring before the end of the year. A rematch with Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz is currently the front-runner for his next fight. Davis is determined to continue his winning streak and prove himself as one of the best in the sport.

In the wake of Gervonta Davis getting released from jail, Sean Gibbons, the head of MP Promotions declared the chance of a rematch between ‘Tank’ and Isaac Cruz. As per him, since the fans in Mexico and the US showed a massive interest in Cruz vs. Davis II, it was ideal that the fight took place. In this context, Gibbons even trumpeted that PBC will deliver Cruz vs. ‘Tank’ II in the shape of a huge post-Christmas gift.

Following Gibbons’ statements, ES News recently spoke to the managers of Teofimo Lopez and Gervonta Davis. By the by, they suggested a potential title fight between the two boxers. At this, both Team Davis and Team Lopez applauded the idea of ‘Tank’ vs. ‘The Takeover.’

Managers of Gervonta Davis and Teofimo Lopez entertain a title fight between the boxers someday

Gervonta Davis

On being asked what they thought about Teofimo Lopez vs. Gervonta Davis at 140 for the title, David McWater, manager of Lopez claimed it was “a wonderful idea.” Similarly, Calvin Ford, Gervonta Davis’ trainer said, “Wonderful.” At this, Kenny Ellis, yet another coach of Davis added, “We’ve got unfinished business at 135, then we go to 140.” However, Ford interrupted and stated, “No, it’s not unfinished. We finished at 135.” Along these lines, he announced that he liked the fight – Lopez vs. Davis.

Following the statement by Ford, McWater announced that since Lopez only wants the biggest fights, it is likely that ‘The Takeover’ will fight ‘Tank’ one day. “Yeah, it will happen someday because Teofimo only wants the biggest and it seems so does ‘Tank,‘” McWater said. However, in this context, it is worth mentioning that Lopez, who reportedly trained for ‘Tank,’ felt Davis would never fight him.

Lopez called Davis “scared”

After Teofimo Lopez, following his victory over Josh Taylor, announced his short-lived retirement, Max Kellerman wondered if there was a figure that could reignite Lopez’s spirit. At this, Kellerman also suggested the name of Davis. While Lopez thought ‘Tank’ a good fight, he called the latter “scared.” “‘Tank’ Davis? Yeah, but he’s too scared,” declared ‘The Takeover.’
