Fighting Hector Luis Garcia was supposed to be one of his proudest moments, a stepping stone if you will, to bigger and better fights. All that Chris Colbert had to do was take care of business against his late replacement opponent and he would be guaranteed a world title shot. Unfortunately for Colbert, things don’t always go according to plan.

It was a night that the 27-year-old would love to forget as Garcia dominated the New Yorker over the course of 12 rounds.

It may have been a setback, but Colbert didn’t allow his upset loss to keep him pinned down to the mat for too long. Roughly a year later, he ditched the 130-pound division and took on Jose Valenzuela.

After picking up the much-needed win, rumors surfaced that Colbert could be next in line to face Gervonta Davis. Colbert though, revealed that those reports were erroneous.

However, if Davis just so happened to knock on his door looking for a fight, Colbert admitted that he would have no problem taking him up on the offer.

Gervonta Davis

“Yes, for sure,” said Colbert on the PBC Podcast when asked if he’d be down to fight Davis.

Ironically enough, Davis did what Colbert (17-1, 6 KOs) couldn’t. He violently stopped Garcia in January earlier this year on pay-per-view. Colbert wasn’t completely surprised by the outcome. He isn’t too impressed with the skills that Garcia brings to the table and chalked up his loss to him as nothing more than a bad day at the office. A rematch with Garcia is something he eventually wants. He also wants to get his hands on anyone who’s considered a great fighter either in or around his weight class.

Colbert’s thinking is simple. Winning titles is salient but fighting the best of the best, regardless of the outcome, is something he wants to be known for.

“I want to be known as that one fighter out of the bunch that is willing to fight anybody. I don’t duck and dodge no fights.”

As BoxingScene.com recently reported, Colbert is heading to a rematch with Jose Valenzuela – slated for December 9 as part of a Showtime Pay-Per-View card. Back in March, some felt observers disagreed with Colbert being awarded a razor-close decision over Valenzuela. All three judges scored it 95-94.

Gervonta Davis, the WBA lightweight champion, recently stirred the pot with a taunt directed at former WBC interim lightweight champion Ryan Garcia. It all began with a viral video showcasing an intense sparring session by Davis, who appeared to dominate his training partner.

A fan couldn’t resist the opportunity to chime in:

Davis, quick on the trigger, responded by mentioning Garcia in his comment:

This unexpected taunt by Davis sent fans into a frenzy, speculating about a potential rematch between the two fighters. One enthusiastic fan exclaimed:

Another fan expressed their strong belief in Garcia’s abilities, stating:

Gervonta Davis’ coach hints at upcoming big fight

Gervonta Davis, the highly regarded 28-year-old boxer from Baltimore, is reportedly on the cusp of securing an intriguing new matchup, according to his head coach, Calvin Ford.

During a recent interview on The Rize Podcast, Ford hinted at a significant bout for Davis. Boxing reporter Michael Benson relaid Ford’s exact words via Twitter:

Gervonta Davis is unbeaten in 29 professional fights, and it looks like he takes his sparring partners in the gym just as seriously as his opponents.

The 28-year-old from Baltimore started 2023 off strong, earning a career best victory by stopping Ryan Garcia in their all-American grudge match. Not only did ‘Tank’ prove he was levels above Garcia, but he recorded one of the most successful gates in Las Vegas history doing so.

His year went downhill from there, being sentenced to home detention and subsequently prison for a hit and run case.

Now back out and able to train, the outspoken southpaw has been quick to return to social media. Today, he shared some sparring footage in which he can be seen piecing up a taller fighter at will.

The video was originally captioned to explain that the opponent had called ‘Tank’ out – if so, he got much more than he bargained for.

‘Tank’s training partner is unidentified, and given what’s on show will likely want to keep it that way.

Following his prison stint, the undefeated lightweight is eyeing a ring return in early 2024, with the frontrunner being Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz – one of only two men to take Davis the distance.

The fight in 2021 was a unanimous decision for Davis, who spoke of a hand injury in the aftermath as a reason for the full twelve rounds.

A rematch would present a nice opportunity to shake off any ring rust and put the rivalry to bed, but Cruz – that being his sole defeat – will have other plans for the self-proclaimed ‘face of boxing.’

On what broadcaster that fight ends up on remains to be seen, with PBC – which guides ‘Tank’s career – left searching for a new home after the announcement that Showtime would be leaving the sport at the end of this year.

Gervonta Davis scored the biggest win of his career against Ryan Garcia in April earlier this year. However, that win marked the beginning of his bad luck as the bad news followed the boxing star since then. Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis pleaded guilty to four counts for the crash in November 2020. Hence, he was ordered to remain under house arrest in his trainer, Calvin Ford’s home for 90 days.

However, the 29-0 Baltimore native decided to move to a hotel and then to another home without permission, per a report from Mike Coppinger. The unauthorized action from ‘Tank’ landed him in further trouble, as Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Althea Handy ordered Davis to serve the rest of his sentence in Baltimore jail. So, after being released from a 44-day prison sentence, Davis turned to Instagram. Recently, he share a heartfelt message with his fans while flaunting million-dollar a watch, rings, and outfits.

Earnest words from Gervonta Davis right after release

In his Instagram post today, the boxing star wrote, “If you spend your time chasing butterflies, they’ll fly away. But if you spend your time making a beautiful garden, the butterflies will come to you. When you focus on improving yourself, everything you want will come to you. We attract based on who we are, not what we want. Don’t chase, attract.” Besides sharing these beautiful words, Davis also included some images.

The undefeated boxer shared pictures of three images of three different outfits. He also included a short clip of a ring with a large pick diamond attached to a rose gold shank. In addition, Davis shared a close-up image of an Audemars Piguet watch. With that out of the way, now that Davis is out of prison, when is his next fight?

Gervonta Davis has quite an impressive resume, having defeated the likes of Ryan Garcia, Leo Santa Cruz, and Mario Barrios. However, after his last fight, the boxing world has been waiting for his next clash in the ring. During a recent podcast, Davis’ trainer, Calvin, dropped hints at a massive comeback bout for Gervonta Davis

During his appearance in The Rize Podcast, Calvin mentioned that the negotiations are underway for the next big fight for Davis. He even claimed the mystery surrounding Davis’ opponent was intentional because it would send shockwaves throughout the boxing world. While the hints from Calvin suggest a potential fight, there has not been any official announcement for the same.

Since his release from prison, Davis has seemingly bounced back as he has been active on social media. As far as Davis’ next fight is concerned, only time can tell who will get into the ring with Davis. However, we want to know what you think about Davis’ sentence.

In a highly anticipated bout on 22 April 2023, Gervonta Davis solidified his reputation as a leading figure in American boxing by defeating Ryan Garcia.  ‘Tank’ floored Garcia in the second round and ultimately secured his victory in the seventh round with a flawless uppercut to the midsection. This knockout occurred in a packed T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip.

The scheduled 12-round bout had no titles at stake and occurred at a catchweight of 136 lbs. Despite this, the stakes were extremely high. Now, months after his loss, Ryan Garcia has penned down his true feelings for his anticipated comeback. In his recent Instagram story, ‘King Ry’ has cleared his stance as he seeks “vengeance.”

Ryan Garcia reveals why he is “ready to win”

Ryan Garcia says he’s returning to the sport with a strong desire for revenge. In a selfie, where he looks outside of a car as though he is looking ahead to the future, the California native writes, “I’m honestly coming back with a vengeance.” Furthermore, he feels disrespected and claims he’s only been performing at 50% of his potential.

Garcia vows to change the public rumors about his potential. His focus has shifted from caring about social media to solely aiming for a championship. Moreover, he promises himself that he’s ready to win.  As he penned, “Tired of the disrespect. I’m fed up and l’ve been at 50% for so long, it’s going to be different. I promise that to my self. I don’t care about anything but becoming a champion. My eyes used to care about social media and what that did for my career now I don’t care I’m ready to WIN.”

Even while preparing himself for his next challenge, Ryan Garcia is updated with the recent happenings in the boxing world. This is because in a recent tweet he was highly critical of the recent Logan Paul vs. Dillon Danis fight.

According to Garcia, Logan Paul vs. Dillon Danis was “trash”

Logan Paul, a YouTuber-turned-boxer, fought Dillon Danis, a UFC fighter, on this Saturday. The match took place at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. Logan Paul won the bout via disqualification in the sixth and final round after Dillon Danis attempted a takedown for the second time.

‘King Ry’ a former WBC Lightweight division champion, was highly critical of the match. He took to social media shortly after the fight concluded to express his disappointment. Garcia labeled the match as “trash” and “embarrassing” for the sport of boxing. He specifically called out the sports streaming service DAZN, urging them not to air such matches in the future. His exact words were, “This was trash. Leave it on the internet. Dazn don’t put this stuff on again it’s embarrassing.”

Gervonta Davis proves he’s a force in boxing, while Ryan Garcia signals a fierce comeback. Garcia shifts focus from social media to championship goals, promising a new era for himself. Meanwhile, he criticizes the Logan Paul vs. Dillon Danis bout, calling for higher standards in the sport. As fans we can only await what Garcia’s prowess has to offer.

Gervonta Davis believes legal orders are preventing him from progressing in his boxing campaign.

Following a career-best win over Ryan Garcia in an extremely lucrative cross-promotion, the 28-year-old knockout artist looked certain to keep rising in the sport.

A court sentencing in May halted that, with Davis receiving a home detention order and community service stemming from a November 2020 hit and run case.

In June, he was ordered to spent the remaining period – 44 days – in a Baltimore City Jail due to a breach of the conditions, namely moving from the agreed address to a luxury condo.

He was released mid-July, but is apparently struggling with the remaining conditions.

In a now deleted post, the undefeated star who this year proclaimed himself as ‘the face of boxing’ said:

Davis has been strongly linked to a rematch with Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz as his comeback bout, although no firm details have been released. It’s understood his ring return will fall in early 2024 regardless of opponent.

Cruz is just the second man from 29 to take ‘Tank’ the distance, although he lost on the cards 115-113, 115-113 and 116-112.

A stoppage win in a second fight would be an impressive way to build on the Garcia win and set Davis up for a crack at a lightweight world title, likely to be vacated by Devin Haney – who is moving up a division – in due course.

A big fight with Shakur Stevenson remains the most intriguing option for the Baltimore puncher at 135.

It’s been a while since Gervonta Davis was released from prison. The fighter spent a total of 44 days behind bars after he failed to comply with the court’s home detention orders. The court sentenced the fighter to a 90-day home detention at his trainer, Calvin Ford’s house. However, as per records, he moved to a luxury hotel and to a new home, prompting him to spend the rest of his sentence at the Baltimore jail.

Ever since his release, the fighter has embarked on a journey of healing and building back what he lost.

Gervonta Davis Back to the Horizon, Fans Concur

Amidst his strenuous court hearings, ‘Tank’ Davis undertook the most important fight of his career to date. In his bout against Ryan Garcia at the T-Mobile Arena of Las Vegas, he emerged victorious through a scathing knockout. However, this April fight of his was the last. A fighter in his ultimate prime disappeared from the ring, and the realm was not happy.

Now that Tank’s sentence in the case has elapsed, a new uproar echoes through the boxing world: questions about his return to the ring. As conjectures surface, the fighter said, “Trill never changes, that’s why I learned to embrace it..Revenge how I show my anger, my facial expression ain’t changin!” His ability to bounce back from his legal shortcomings has instilled a sense of resilience in him. His post etched with these words featuring him in the backdrop of his car has sparked a conversation among well-wishers.

There a host of mouth watering all American fights to be made amongst the lightweight and super lightweight division, which are both amongst the strongest in the sport.

Fans are being treated to one such clash in December, when WBC 140lbs champion Regis Prograis will defend his strap against former undisputed 135lbs champion Devin Haney.

However, in a recent interview with ESNews, Prograis broke down a different stateside affair – a potential showdown between Gervonta Davis and Teofimo Lopez – and explained why he would favour Davis to get the better of ‘The Takeover’ if the fight ever happened.

Following his stoppage win over Ryan Garcia back in April, Davis’ star power is bigger than his ever been, and the though of all American derbies against the likes of Haney and Stevenson has fans salivating.

His momentum was slowed somewhat by a brief jail stint over the summer, however he is now back in the gym and said to be angling for a return to the ring in early 2024.

The rumoured frontrunners to land the money spinning fight are PBC stablemates Frank Martin and Isaac Cruz, with the latter being one of only two men to take Davis the distance.

Lopez is riding the crest of a wave at the moment after becoming a two weight world champion earlier this year, and a marquee match up between him and former Davis opponent Garcia has been tipped to land in the first half of 2024

In the realm of opulence, few can rival the grandeur displayed by boxing’s elite. Gervonta Davis, fresh from his colossal $22.8 million feat from the mammoth showdown against Ryan Garcia. A fight that impressively sold over 1.2 million pay-per-view units, raking in a staggering gate revenue, has showcased another dimension of his lavish lifestyle.

America’s Favorite Video Today

While most would bask in the financial triumph of such a mega-event, for Davis, this windfall appears to be just the beginning of a series of luxurious indulgences. Beyond the glory of the ring, what could the Baltimore fighter be splurging on that’s causing such a buzz?

Gervonta Davis and the $2 million sparkle

Gervonta Davis, affectionately known as ‘Tank’, has recently drawn attention for a lavish purchase that is reminiscent of the lifestyles of boxing’s most elite. In a move that mirrors the opulence of his mentor, Floyd Mayweather, Davis unveiled on Instagram a staggering $2 million diamond necklace. His caption, simple yet impactful, read, “2 Million 🤙.”

With his stoppage win over Ryan Garcia back in April, Gervonta Davis established himself as one of the biggest stars in the sport as well as one of the greatest fighters of this generation.

A recent social media post from Davis has revealed who he believes is the best of all time – and it’s someone he knows quite well.

From his professional debut, the Baltimore puncher was a protege of five weight champion, pay per view star and all time great Floyd Mayweather and a leading light of Mayweather Promotions.

And ‘Tank’ has shared a text message exchange between himself and Mayweather, where the 28 year old tells ‘Money’ that he was “the best to ever do it.”

Although everything between the pair seems nice and rosey now, Mayweather and Davis have not always been the best of friends.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – APRIL 23: CAPTION at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

An anonymous text message was sent to the media back in 2022 that Davis was no longer affiliated with Mayweather Promotions, then an official announcement before his fight with Rolando Romero.

Though the pair have not reunited just yet, Davis has not ruled it out and Mayweather has spoken fondly of his former charge, describing him on numerous occasions as being like a son to him.

‘Tank’ has not boxed since the Garcia fight, mainly due to having to serve a jail term over the summer that saw momentum in his career take a brief halt.

However, the three weight world champion is expected to be back in the ring in early 2024, with a host of big money fights potentially available in and around the lightweight division.
