Gervonta Davis is the big bad wolf in the lightweight division. And he is the moneymaker and trend setter. Despite how scary he is as a fighter, everyone wants a piece of him for the chance at glory and a big payday.

Shakur Stevenson might be at the front of the list when it comes to those pining to face Tank, and he certainly has some credibility given his record and name power. But Davis has seemingly bypassed Stevenson entirely, with Vasiliy Lomachenko the heavy favorite to be his next opponent.

Shakur Stevenson says “I don’t care” about not getting fight with Gervonta Davis

In an interview with BoxingScene, Stevenson spoke about getting overlooked despite his qualifications.

Stevenson says he doesn’t care, but there’s definitely a part of him that feels underestimated. He’s been calling out Tank for a while and hasn’t gotten the response he wants yet.

Stevenson was also asked about potentially fighting Lomachenko, something that he’s definitely up for and believes should happen.

Meanwhile, Stevenson is preparing to face Artem Harutyunyan on July 6. He will be defending his WBC lightweight title

Gervonta Davis reminded fans, pundits and rivals just how destructive he can be in the ring when he stopped previously-undefeated Frank Martin.

The return of ‘Tank’ after a 14 month lay-off saw him back on his game, patiently measuring out Martin and dropping some rounds before unleashing that famous power.

It was the first defence of his WBA Lightweight World Title, and many watching were so impressed that they believe there’s not a contender or fellow champion in the division that can take it from him

Hall of Fame fighter turned analyst Tim Bradley doesn’t subscribe to that thinking, believing three-weight champ Shakur Stevenson has what it takes.

Stevenson now holds the WBC belt at 135, but was criticised for a negative performance when he won it against Edwin De Los Santos.

Speaking to FightHype, Bradley said Stevenson would be inspired to silence his doubters come July 6 against Artem Harutyunyan after ‘Tank’s more conclusive defence.

Asked if Shakur was the lightweight to beat ‘Tank’ Davis, Bradley had no doubt.
Davis is now entering talks for a unification with Vasiliy Lomachenko, meaning Stevenson will have at least another defence in between that and his own long-awaited fight with Davis.

Gervonta Davis and Vasiliy Lomachenko are set to enter talks to stage a lightweight unification bout towards the end of the year.

When Devin Haney vacated all four of his 135lbs belts, 36-year-old Lomachenko picked up the vacant IBF with a stoppage win over George Kambosos Jr. Davis, 29, was elevated to WBA Champion and made a first successful defence against Frank Martin this month, also by knockout.

It’s not the first time Lomachenko has been champion in the division, having previously held the unified titles until he was beaten by underdog Teofimo Lopez in 2020.

Lopez – now WBO World Champion one division up at 140 – spoke to Fight Hub TV about the proposed bout, ultimately predicting a ‘Tank’ win on points rather than by stoppage. It would be only the third time in a 30-fight campaign he would go the distance.

Ahead of the bout, many fans and analysts would back the idea that if it ends early ‘Tank’ will have his hand raised, if it goes the distance, it will be the elite Ukrainian turning back the clock to claim victory. The theory is backed up by the younger man’s tendency to drop rounds in favour of reading his opponent in wait of the perfect knockout blow.

Teofimo returns to the ring this weekend in Miami Beach against contender Steve Claggett.

If the boxing world is lucky, before the end of this year, we will get to witness two of the most talented active stars in the sport share the ring – Gervonta Davis and Vasyl Lomachenko. While Davis has yet to enter his prime, a number of people feel the end is near for the 36-year-old Lomachenko who has had a tremendous career with 414 wins, amateur and professional combined. So, at 36, can the Ukrainian boxer out-smart and defeat the raging Gervonta Davis? Analyst Timothy Bradley Jr. answered positively.

Among others, Stephen A. Smith lately feared Vasyl Lomachenko’s fate against Gervonta Davis. Although Smith considered Loma a brilliant boxer, he felt there was a strong chance of the Ukrainian getting knocked out by ‘Tank’. However, Shakur Stevenson claimed that Loma was far from being a pushover. Now, Timothy Bradley Jr. is in agreement with Shakur about Loma’s abilities.

While people may brand him as a Tank “hater”, Bradley Jr. is willing to break it down. “It’s a great match-up. I wish the match-up could have happened maybe four or five years ago when Lomachenko was Lomachenko. However, I still think that [with] the experience Lomachenko has, he has what it takes, he can defeat Tank,” stated Timothy Bradley Jr. However, there are a few things Lomachenko must avoid while in there with Davis.

Now he got to steer clear of getting caught with that big shot. If he does that, if he keeps his back off the ropes, all right,” Bradley Jr. said to FightHype. Additionally, he advised Lomachenko to make ‘Tank’ pay when the latter is “inconsistent“. He also advised Loma to watch out for the uppercut that Davis likes to throw. If Loma can follow this plan, Bradley feels the boxer has all the other necessary qualities to win.

He has the gas tank, he has the knowledge, he has the experience, the championship pedigree, he’s seen it all. And if he got one more good fight left in him, it got to be on that night against Tank,” Bradley Jr. concluded. However, that goes for Loma. What should Davis do to make sure Vasyl Lomachenko is beaten?

Blueprint to beat Vasyl Lomachenko for Gervonta Davis

So, Vasyl Lomachenko is not just another pugilist but an artist. And the best thing about Lomachenko is that his art is not forced. What he displays inside the ring is an honest and intelligent reaction to his opponent’s action. For Loma, the clock slows down, and he is able to see shots, avoid, and counter. Besides being greatly active on his feet, Loma’s precision is impressive. So, how does ‘Tank’ deal with Loma? First of all, Davis must slow Vasyl down. Should he be able to land some jabs to the body, he may achieve that goal.

Additionally, Davis has to be quick and close in on the distance. As Bradley Jr. said, “Tank’s still got to go in there and land his shots.” Once he has slowed down Vasyl, Davis’ precision may carry the day. Therefore, Bradley added, “I know Tank got that special power.” With that said, do you believe that Vasyl Lomachenko can defeat Gervonta Davis?

With a lightweight unification bout between Gervonta Davis and Vasiliy Lomachenko seemingly edging closer, former two-weight world champion Tim Bradley has given his verdict on the contest.

Both men are coming off impressive performances. ‘Tank’ defended his WBA belt by knocking out Frank Martin with a devastating uppercut-left hook combination earlier this month. Before that ‘Loma’ became the first man to stop George Kambosos Jr and captured the IBF world title in the process.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV about the potential match-up, Bradley believes the Ukrainian is being overlooked due to being 36 years old.

Bradley believes Lomachenko will be ‘Tank’s toughest test to date, and whilst most pundits are favouring Davis to get his hand raised, the hall of fame inductee believes it’s a 50/50 fight.

Lomachenko’s promoter, Bob Arum, says both men want the fight and he doesn’t foresee any major hurdles in making it happen next.

Just two days ago analyst Stephen A. Smith was terrified of imagining Vasyl Lomachenko in the same ring as Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. In his opinion, besides size, since the Ukrainian boxer lacked the required punch power to face ‘Tank,’ there was a great chance the boxer from Baltimore could floor ‘Hi-Tech.’ Meanwhile, thinking of an apt opponent for the WBA Lightweight champion, Smith rallied for Shakur Stevenson. But unlike Smith, Shakur feels Lomachenko still has a chance against Gervonta Davis!

While Vasyl Lomachenko is near the end of his prime, Gervonta Davis is about to enter it. Added to this, as Loma is “small,” Stephen A. Smith feels Davis will knock out the Ukrainian in a compelling fight. However, Shakur Stevenson feels it is worth highlighting the experience and IQ that Lomachenko has as a boxer.

As the two-time Olympic gold medalist is 35, Shakur feels “only one or two fights [are] left in his career probably.” For the same reason, he believes if Davis and Loma must share the ring, “the time is now.” But how does Shakur think the fight will play out? In his latest interview on FightHype, the boxer from Newark confidently stated, “I still think with Lomachenko’s skills and stuff, it will still be a good fight.

I don’t think that Lomachenko is a pushover even though he is older. With the experience he’s got and the knowledge, I think it could be a tremendous fight,” Shakur added, reasoning his answer. However, there is one thing that Lomachenko must possess. As we all have seen, Gervonta Davis is capable of throwing and landing breathtaking power. In that sense, Shakur feels Loma can potentially beat ‘Tank,’ if he can endure Davis’ shots.

All is gonna boil down to can Lomachenko have punch resistance to what ‘Tank’ is throwing?” Shakur concluded. Meanwhile, after Bob Arum’s statements, the chances of Davis vs. Loma significantly increased.

Gervonta Davis might face Vasyl Lomachenko in four months

Although Stephen A. Smith feels Gervonts Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson makes more sense, Bob Arum understands that Davis vs. Lomachenko will be huge financially. After seeing Gervonta Davis KO Frank Martin in the eighth round, Arum announced, “We’re up for that fight [Davis]. Lomachenko’s up for that.” Additionally, the CEO of Top Rank claimed that Lomachenko vs. Davis “would produce more money than a fight with Shakur.

In this connection, Arum also hinted at a date he had in mind. While there are many possibilities, as per BoxingScene, Davis vs. Loma could take place in November or December of this year. “Everything’s up in the air. There’s a lot of possibilities,” the 92-year-old said. With that said, do you think Vasyl Lomachenko can defeat Gervonta Davis?

Shakur Stevenson will likely watch from the sidelines as Gervonta Davis and Vasiliy Lomachenko fight, despite chasing both for some time now.

The three men all hold belts at 135 just now and, following ‘Tank’s destructive stoppage of Frank Martin to retain his WBA belt, fans are expecting a unification.

It’s reported that his team are targetting Lomachenko and the IBF rather than Shakur’s WBC belt.

Speaking on FightHype, the three-weight world champ from Newark said he ‘doesn’t respect’ the fact that his two fellow lightweight champions are set to enter talks.

As for his verdict on the fight, he still believes that Lomachenko, 36, can put up a good fight against the younger man Davis who has the momentum.

Stevenson returns to the ring in his home city on July 6 against Artem Harutyunyan.

Saudi Arabia is making waves in the sports world, and boxing is the latest arena they’re conquering. The kingdom has been organizing some of the biggest sporting events, and they’re doing it exceptionally well. Just last month, Riyadh hosted the highly anticipated Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury match for the undisputed heavyweight title, setting a new benchmark in the sport.

But that’s not all-Saudi Arabia is also home to other notable boxing events like the Matchroom vs. Queensberry 5 vs 5 card. And now, the kingdom’s influence is about to get even bigger with a proposed $4-5 billion boxing league backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF).

This new league aims to unify the fragmented world of boxing by bringing together fighters, promoters, broadcasters, and sanctioning bodies under one roof. The plan is to kick off this ambitious project sometime next year, promising to reshape the sport’s landscape. While the idea of a unified league might sound revolutionary to some, not everyone is thrilled. WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis has been vocal about his skepticism and isn’t too eager to fight in Saudi Arabia.

Davis recently secured a knockout victory over Frank Martin at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. However, his enthusiasm for Saudi Arabia’s new league is lukewarm at best. When asked about His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, Davis didn’t hold back. “If he feel like he got the power coz he got the cash, so it’s like let me sh*t on everybody else,” Davis remarked. He also criticized the potential sidelining of promoters, saying, “It’s somewhat good I would say for the sport, but I don’t know. So you want to kick everybody out! All the promoters! That’s crazy.”

His Excellency Turki Alalshikh had something to say to Davis

The drama escalated when His Excellency Turki Alalshikh responded to Davis’s demands for luxury cars in exchange for a fight in Saudi Arabia. “If they want me they gotta send me something… like 2 Ferraris,” Davis had tweeted. Alalshikh didn’t mince words in his reply on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Hour show, saying, “I heard (what) Davis said… I say to him: we will send you two gloves if you want, that’s it!” Davis, clearly unimpressed, fired back with his own comments, asserting he doesn’t need Saudi Arabia to sell fights.

Boxing’s history has always been defined by its promoters, and a unified league could indeed disrupt the traditional structure. While some may see this as an evolution, Davis clearly sees it as a threat to the promoters’ role in the sport. Saudi Arabia has proven its prowess in organizing top-tier boxing events. A fight involving a star like Gervonta Davis would undoubtedly be a spectacle fans wouldn’t want to miss. Whether or not Davis will ever fight in Saudi Arabia remains to be seen.

Gervonta Davis is a brave man. Whether it’s taking on the best boxers of his generation or making a fashion statement, the WBA lightweight champion doesn’t back down from any challenge, as he demonstrated this Saturday in his fight against Frank Martin.

“Tank” Davis lived up to his name this Saturday at the MGM Grand Graden Arena in Las Vegas, where he demolished Martin in eight rounds. With the victory, Davis retained the World Boxing Association (WBA) belt and strengthened his leverage for future contracts.

Amid the commotion caused by his demonstration in the ring, some eagle-eyed fans noticed the champion’s footwear. Davis entered the ring wearing black shoes with multicolored figures that matched his shorts.

According to fans and media, the shoes were a Chrome Hearts customized design. The luxury clothing and accessories brand is relatively young but has made its way into the market thanks to its bold and one-of-a-kind designs.

What is the price of Davis shoes?

Because it is a custom design, there is no official price for Davis’ footwear. However, some fans on X, formerly Twitter, speculated that the accessory value could be worth up to $100,000.

The high price has to do with exclusivity. In addition to being custom-made, with a unique design, Chrome Hearts advertises itself as a luxury goods brand with only a few stores in the United States, but it distributes throughout the world.

The brand began operations in 1988, and since then, it has collaborated with other stars such as The Rolling Stones, the K-pop group 2NE1, the models Bella and Gigi Hadid, and with other luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton and Baccarat.

Davis’s bizarre fashion choices

This wasn’t the first time Davis has stepped into the ring with custom luxury accessories. In 2021, “Tank” decided to make a heartfelt but very unusual tribute to the Los Angeles Lakers idol, Kobe Bryant, who died in a helicopter accident in 2020.

In that fight against Isaac Cruz, all of Davis’ clothing was a tribute to the “Mamba.” His robe and his shorts bore the Lakers colors and the numbers 8 and 24 that Bryant wore in his career. The design of the champion’s shoes was reminiscent of Kobe’s famous “Grinches.”

“Tank” Davis is a bold man in and out of the ring, and his outfits back that up. After his most recent fashion statement, we can only wait to see what else he will surprise us with in his next fights.

Of all the potential match-ups to be made in the sport, a lightweight unification showdown between Gervonta Davis and Vasyl Lomachenko is right amongst the cream of the crop. After both men secured impressive wins in recent weeks, it seems as though the proposed contest is progressing nicely.

Vasyl Lomachenko returned to the lightweight throne when he knocked out George Kambosos Jr. last month, putting an end to a three-and-a-half year run without a world title to his name by picking up the IBF strap.

That victory has put ‘Loma’ well on his way to securing his dream of an undisputed title, although his fellow champions are of supreme quality, none more so that Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.

Davis made a first successful defence of his WBA title as stopped Frank Martin in Las Vegas at the weekend, landing a peach of a left-uppercut to split the guard of ‘The Ghost’ before finishing the brutal two-punch combination with a left-hook that sent Martin crashing into the canvas.

Immediately, there have been demands for ‘Tank’ to attempt to unify the belts at 135lbs the most in-demand opponent that continues to be mentioned is the slick Ukrainian technician, who he was been linked to fighting since 2018 – when they were both campaigning at super-featherweight.

Co-trainer of Gervonta Davis, Kenny Ellis has now addressed the rumours on Instagram and admitted that he has begun studying ‘Loma’ before issuing a confident prediction for the bout.

“Because of the strong rumours in the air:

“Phase #1 – I am studying up Lomachenko, if and when this fight happens, please let him come with his angles and hopefully he will let Timothy Bradley work his corner so he can pick up Loma’s shoes when Tank knocks him out of his socks.”

Meanwhile, Bob Arum told Boxing Scene that Lomachenko is interested in the fight and added that talks could begin as early as this week, before explaining why he is both impressed by Davis and more interested in the prospect of that fight than he is with a potential Shakur Stevenson unification affair.
