In the build-up to his upcoming fight, lightweight Frank Martin, alongside trainer Derrick James, made an appearance at Children’s Health hospital in Dallas in support of the Derrick James Family Foundation.

Martin is set to face WBA lightweight titleholder Gervonta Davis on June 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Martin (18-0, 12 KOs), an underdog leading into the fight, is finding causes and people in his life to serve as motivation. Martin has never been a pay-per-view headliner and was only recently elevated to main event status after a star-making performance against Michel Rivera in 2022, winning a unanimous decision over the lightweight contender.

“Everything that I’m working towards is a lot bigger than me,” Martin said. “I do it for the kids, and I do it for my family and friends.”

Since that win, Martin won a close unanimous decision last July over Artem Harutyunyan, who now faces Shakur Stevenson on July 6. Martin was rumored to be an opponent for Stevenson, but the fight fell through and he hasn’t fought since. Despite his detractors and critics, Martin remains focused. He sparred with Davis some years back, which was a talking point of their rowdy press conference. Martin seems to be channeling the mindset of a teacher, looking to empower youth with his comments about the upcoming fight.

“I know that I can inspire others through what I do in the ring, and that’s why I’m putting everything I have into being at my best on June 15,” Martin said.

James also shared his perspective, emphasizing his role as a role model heading into this career-defining fight for Martin.

“I understand how fortunate I am and the opportunities I have been given,” James said. “I also understand my responsibility to the youth in my community. They inspire me to be my best, just like I hope I’m inspiring them.”

Gervonta Davis is set to face Frank Martin on June 15th, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The Baltimore native will be defending his WBA lightweight title against Martin. ‘Tank’ was last seen inside the boxing ring last year, when he fought Ryan Garcia in April 2023. It was one of the biggest fights of the year and amassed millions of dollars. However, is it the case this time around?

The 29-year-old has been out of action for more than a year now. Fans are eager to see him inside the squared circle. Gervonta Davis’ return to the ring has long been predicted to bring in a footfall, unlike other fights of the year. It is now estimated to bring in a gate collection of approximately $14 million. Is that good or bad?

Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin to have a poorer turnout than Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia?

BoxingTickets shared a post on X which read, “The 100 sections have not been opened up yet, leading to the correction of the total possible, “All in” gate potential. An estimate that does not include any production kills or comps. Which are unknown in Nevada due to commission change in reporting.” BoxingTickets revealed the numbers for the upcoming boxing event, and it looks a bit underwhelming despite it being a Gervonta Davis event with David Benavidez as a co-main event. The boxing ticket evaluator highlighted that the event is predicted to bring in a gate revenue of $13.6 million excluding the production costs. This looks disheartening especially for Gervonta Davis fans and for the PBC, the promotion that is putting together the event.

As per reports, the maximum estimated gate is $13.6 million. Comparing this to the gate revenue of Tank’s last fight with Ryan Garcia, the 2023 clash had a gate collection of $22.8 million. Most other big Vegas events have also had a gate collection of close to $30 million. In comparison, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao had a staggering gate collection of $41.4 million back in 2015 when the two fought each other. Whereas Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin II in 2017 saw a gate collection of $36 million. Considering that the event is an Amazon Prime Video PPV event, the PPV income may not be as substantial as it has been for all the other fights that had well-known telecasters like Showtime Boxing and DAZN to sell the fight. This may affect the overall income generated by the event.

Frank Martin remains confident that he will beat Gervonta Davis when they square off on June 15.

Martin chases his first world title as Davis defends his WBA Lightweight Title. Both fighters have a history of sparring with each other. The kick-off presser brought up their sparring session, with both fighters giving a conflicting narrative. Martin recalled buzzing Davis, who was then allegedly holding on to him. Davis hit back, stating Martin was scared to face him. He also claimed that Martin’s punch was nothing that made him feel worried, saying he responded in the session.

Davis vs. Martin

“You caught me one time. I sparred already; he was scared to spar. I jumped on him. He’s a southpaw. He threw the brick hand. Boom! That’s what caught me. It wasn’t like, boom and… Hell no. Everybody in here know, if I get touched, I’m coming on that,” Davis stated

Martin’s last fight tested his resolve. He won via a unanimous decision only after Artem Harutyunyan took a knee in the final round. Before that, Artem was outboxing Martin, who appeared on course for his first defeat. While styles do make fights, facing Davis is a whole other level.  Davis has questioned Martin’s ability to cut it at the top level, feeling that the pressure will get to him.

Davis also has plenty of critics to satisfy. His last fight was a seventh-round stoppage of Ryan Garcia. However, the victory was questioned after Garcia said that his 136-pound catch weight and ten-pound rehydration had weakened him. Tank has also been accused of ducking the big names, as fights with Shakur StevensonDevin HaneyVasiliy Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez have not been made. Martin backed himself to be victorious.

Martin Reacts

“I feel like I got a lot of things that he, the world, and a lot of people don’t expect that I got. I’m just ready to go in there and capitalize off of this moment. That’s something I embrace. I’m eating off of it. It’s fueling me. It’s not going to change, though. I just got to out there and do the unexpected.

“It means everything. It doesn’t come by for a lot of fighters. Me going in there and getting it and changing the seat [dethroning Gervonta of WBA ‘regular’ 135-lb title]. It’s a blessing to have that type of opportunity. You got to see me June 15th. I hope I get the best version of you. You going to get the best version of me for sure,” Martin said

To hype the fight, the WBC has added their ‘Freedom’ belt for the winner. Boxing has been accused of having too many belts. Boxers are responsible for paying additional sanctioning fees for the titles they hold. This has the impact of discouraging fighters from keeping hold of their belts, as it will come out of their purse. Davis has addressed this previously, stating that he is not a fan of sanctioning fees. His attitude for this fight has remained the same. During an interaction with former boxer Andre Berto, Davis said he would not pay any fee.

Berto: “The question is are they gonna have pay sanction fees for it?”

Davis: “I’m not paying…[nothing].”

Gervonta Davis and Eddie Hearn? Oh boy, those two were like oil and water, never quite seeing eye to eye! Whether they were feuding over the failed Conor Benn fight or caught up in the PED drama with Ryan Garcia. What happened between them now? Well, here’s the scoop! On May 1, ‘King Ry’ Garcia’s whole world shook!

The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association revealed that Garcia has tested positive for two banned substances, Ostarine and trace amounts of 19-norandrosterone. While Garcia was cleared of the second substance, the first one continued to trouble him. Unexpectedly, when the news broke, Davis was the first one who voiced his support for his former rival. However, this didn’t seem to sit well with Haney’s promoter, Eddie Hearn. So, he spoke about it in an interview with Fight Hub TV.

Eddie Hearn basically calls the face of boxing an idiot!

Speaking to a bunch of reporters before the Jaron Ennis vs. Cody Crowley press conference, Hearn absolutely lost it talking about Ryan Garcia’s adverse findings. However, he seemed even more infuriated when talking about Gervonta Davis’ support for Garcia. The head of Matchroom Boxing said, “I mean, I listened to Gervonta Davis. It’s so painful listening to this guy, who knows absolutely nothing, right?”

The ongoing beef between Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and his ex-promoter Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather is sizzling hotter than a grill at a summer BBQ! And guess what? The latest juicy slice of drama from Tank aimed at Money seems to have Shakur Stevenson‘s fingerprints all over it! But what does Shakur Stevenson have to do with their beef?

Well, the thing is, not that long ago, Gervonta Davis took shots at the former five division champion, revealing ‘Money’ was facing money issues in Dubai, and was stuck there because of it. Now, Mayweather wasn’t going to take it lying down, so he responded by sharing a clip of ‘Sugar’ Stevenson in his Instagram story, where the Newark native urged Davis to accept the fight. Now, cut to Sunday, and the whole thing bubbled up again when Davis tweeted he would fight Vasyl Lomachenko next.

Twitter Wars: Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson

Hours earlier, following Lomachenko’s utter dominance over George Kambosos Jr, Gervonta Davis hopped on X to write in a now deleted tweet, “He’s after Frank..let me get Frank first.” Seeing Davis plan another fight that doesn’t involve him Stevenson couldn’t resist as he wrote, back, “He’s on the other side tho.” However, this wasn’t enough to get a rise out of Davis, so Stevenson went a step further.

n a following tweet, Stevenson shared Davis’ clip, where ‘Tank’ can be seen dancing with a rather feminine aura. Stevenson captioned the clip, “Says this guy.” This seems to have been the last straw that sent Davis over the edge. He promptly responded in a now deleted tweet, “Floyd called you and made you make a video you did it knowing he don’t f**k w you..you definitely a d**k eater and do everything ni**as tell you to do.”

Davis and Mayweather’s relationship could really have a solid rom-com, just look at their history. Following Davis’ win over Rolly Romero, the undefeated boxer split with Mayweather’s promotion and started working with guidance from Al Haymon. Since then, the duo has both shown respect and hate against each other on several occasions. The best example would be what happened during the Ryan Garcia fight last year.

Inside the Floyd Mayweather Gym Drama

Just last year, the Baltimore native fought Garcia in a second fight since separating from Mayweather. However, he was still training for the fight in Mayweather’s gym, something that seems to have irked the former champion, Davis claimed. In a tweet Garcia had written, “You always act like you got some info. Shut your a** up already.”

“You basically are just a shaderoom [gossip] page, relax. I heard some stuff about you as well,” Garcia continued. In response, Davis wrote, “What? That Floyd’s petty a** said I couldn’t use his gym anymore. I don’t give a f***!… Nah, it’s not what I heard, it’s what I know, chump!” Despite this, on the night of the fight, Floyd Mayweather was ring side to support his former prodigy.

While Shakur Stevenson is unlikely to get his dream fight against Gervonta Davis anytime soon, the real hate between Davis and Floyd Mayweather is finally coming to the surface. However, the question is, was Mayweather really using Shakur to get back at Davis? Or is there more to the story?

Gervonta Davis called out Vasyl Lomachenko during his win over George Kambosos on Saturday night.

The Ukrainian lightweight legend was dominant as he finally made his return a year on from his defeat to Devin Haney.

Lomachenko has often been criticised for starting slow but against Kambosos he got off to a quick start before his 11th-round finish.

The 36-year-old let his hands go early with several fast flurries that snapped back Kambosos’ head as he advanced.

The Australian home favourite gave a valiant effort, but was ultimately overmatched.

In round eleven, a brutal body shot floored him and Lomachenko quickly secured the finish by downing Kambosos once again.

Loma is now the IBF lightweight world champion – and a four-time champ across three weight divisions.

Davis holds the WBA crown and is seemingly looking to unify in the coming months.

A boxing fan posted on social media during the fight: “Gervonta Davis would never fight Vasyl Lomachenko.”

To which Davis replied publicly: “He’s after Frank. Let me get Frank first.”

The ‘Frank’ he is referring to is of course Frank Martin – his opponent on June 15.

This vow from Davis has excited many boxing fans, but infuriated Shakur Stevenson, who has himself been calling for a fight with Tank but been denied by the fact they are represented by different promoters/advisers.

As Lomachenko has also spent his career with the same promoter as him, Stevenson replied to Davis by saying: “He’s on the other side tho.”

Davis responded by suggesting Loma is actually now a free agent.

In the end though, Stevenson tweeted: “They [are] trying to freeze me out. F*** all them, Floyd [Mayweather] told me bout all these n***as.”

Gervonta Davis is ready for Vasiliy Lomachenko.

In a now-deleted post on X, the undefeated lightweight said Lomachenko is next on his list of opponents after he fights Frank Martin next month.

Lomachenko earned an 11th-round TKO victory over George Kambosos Jr. on Saturday to win the IBO and IBF lightweight championships. It was Lomanchenko’s first fight since losing to Devin Haney last May.

“You know, during my boxing career I’ve never run around and I’ve always taken fights. After I rest a little bit, we can talk about the future,” Lomachenko said when informed of Davis’ social media call out.

Lomachenko, who won two Olympic gold medals before turning pro in 2013, has an 18-3 record and has won championships in three divisions. Davis has won titles at the super featherweight, lightweight and super lightweight divisions during his 29-0 start to his career. Despite debuting as a professional in the same year, Davis is seven years younger than Lomachenko.

Davis will have to get past an undefeated Martin to make it to Lomachenko, but if he does, it would be one of the most anticipated lightweight fights in recent years.

After his decisive victory over George Kambosos, newly crowned IBF champion Vasiliy Lomachenko commented on the possibility of facing Gervonta Davis.

Following today’s bout, Davis issued a challenge to Lomachenko online, only to promptly delete the post from his X platform (formerly Twitter).

In the fight against Kambosos, Lomachenko exhibited complete dominance, seemingly heading towards a decision victory by the judges. However, the Ukrainian had other plans.

In the eleventh round, Vasiliy delivered a precise jab, sending his opponent into a knockout. Though Kambosos managed to rise to his feet seconds later, he couldn’t withstand another onslaught from Lomachenko, prompting the referee to halt the bout.

Devin Haney‘s stocks have taken a hit ever since he found himself floored on the canvas three times when he fought Ryan Garcia. The devastating loss has shattered his confidence, and there are doubts about him bouncing back strongly if he were to meet with the likes of Gervonta Davis. Can the American boxer do it against top fighters now?

‘The Dream’ and ‘Tank’ have been at each other’s throats in recent days, where the two even got embroiled in a confrontation at a bar. Their old rivalry is brimming with tensions, and as such, there are talks of who would topple whom if they were to clash next. When asked the same from Garcia, 25, he initially put his money on Haney a couple of weeks ago. But not anymore.

Ryan Garcia backtracks on Devin Haney’s chances

‘KingRy,’ who has fought both Haney and Davis, believed Haney would emerge as a victor and admitted the same when he appeared on the PBD Podcast two weeks ago. He had declared, “Haney beats ‘Tank’… ‘Tank’ won’t get to Haney. Definitely, Haney will beat ‘Tank’.” However, there is a shift in his opinion, as the lightweight boxer expressed his views in a recent X Live Space.

Garcia said, “Nah, not anymore, bro. He [Devin Hany] won’t beat Tank because I think he is damaged goods for the rest of his life. He also pointed out that the hypothetical fight would have been close if Haney hadn’t lost to him. The 25-1 record holder continued, “It would have been close because he would have been more confident.”

Garcia, who has faced the brunt of Davis’ power, then passed a verdict on the Baltimore native’s power, which separated him from the rest. Despite getting knocked out with a body shot from him, Garcia suggested that Davis’ power had more to do with timing.

Gervonta Davis’ power: precision, not sheer force?

The Victorville native contended that Davis’ power didn’t hurt but worked because they were fast and precise. He continued, “I’m being real, bro. I’m trying to tell you about Tank’s power, bro. It’s more about timing, bro. It doesn’t hurt when he hits you. That’s fast. Whatever Tank is doing, is working.”

Meanwhile, for Davis, at 29-0 with 27 KOs, the idea of a rematch with Garcia is lucrative now. While Garcia has pitched the idea of a rematch at a catchweight of 145, Davis is open to it at 140. He told Cigar Talks, “He’s [Ryan Garcia] not even at 145, that’s not even a weight… Why it can’t be 140? Yeah, I’ll fight Ryan.”

It remains to be seen whether boxing fans will have their wish and whether Garcia and Davis will run it back soon. They will also be keen on how Devin Haney navigates his career next.

What do you make of these comments by Ryan Garcia about Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis? Do you think Haney beats Davis? Let us know in the comments below.

There’s only one way to settle beef in boxing! What’s that? Through a boxing match, of course. So, retired world champion Shane Mosley has suggested Gervonta Davis and Floyd Mayweather should do the same like Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. The former boxer-promoter/mentor duo has been throwing shade at each other for a while now! Why?

According to reports, Mayweather took a sly but subtle dig at his former star fighter, claiming fighters today chose to blow their money on expensive stuff. Instead of doing the smart thing by investing it. Davis promptly responded to this by revealing Floyd was stuck in Dubai. Why? Ironically, because of unpaid dues. Thus, starting their feud! While appearing in an interview with The Art Of Dialogue, Shane Mosley quickly proposed a fight to finally settle the beef!

Shane Mosley sees the fight happening at 140 or 145 pounds

Speaking about who would win between Davis and prime Floyd Mayweather, Mosley seemed confident ‘Pretty Boy’ would emerge victorious. However, when the host asked what would the result be if ‘Tank’ and ‘Money’ fought today, Mosley didn’t seem to have an answer. So, he said, “They should run that! Let’s see [if they can hold their own]. That [would] be a big one.”

Davis is 29-years-old and Mayweather is sitting comfortably at 47, so a fight isn’t impossible. Mosley’s proposal, though, has breathed new life into the idea, making the fight seem even more feasible. He said, “Then, you know, they could sanction it like Tyson and Jake Paul doing, right? To see if he can hold his own. Let’s run it! Do it at 140, 145.”

While Davis last entered the ring in April last year, Mayweather has also remained relatively active. Even though not as talented as Davis, John Gotti III fought Mayweather in June last year, proving ‘Money’ can still do the dance in the ring. However, it’s entirely up to both fighters whether they would want such a fight to happen. Nevertheless, a not so old tweet from Gervonta Davis suggests he would win in a fight against Mayweather.

Amid feud with Gervonta Davis, Floyd Mayweather announces his next fight

During the peak of their feud, Gervonta Davis tweeted, “Now I f*** around and knock Floyd out when I see em and I’ll care about going back to jail,” referencing his 90 days stint in Baltimore jail for breaking house arrest rules. He further added, “He such a b**** he don’t allow his security carry guns…”

Soon afterwards, Floyd Mayweather hopped on Instagram to announce his next fight, full announcement due on May 15. While the opponent is unlikely to be Davis, Mayweather has been linked with several potential opponents, alongside a failed rematch attempt against last exhibition opponent John Gotti III.

Though unlikely, a fight between Floyd Mayweather and Gervonta Davis has the potential to overshadow even the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight. However, hypothetically if they did fight and that too on the same card, the numbers from such an event will be astronomical! What do you think? Would you want to watch such a clash?
