There’s only one way to settle beef in boxing! What’s that? Through a boxing match, of course. So, retired world champion Shane Mosley has suggested Gervonta Davis and Floyd Mayweather should do the same like Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. The former boxer-promoter/mentor duo has been throwing shade at each other for a while now! Why?

According to reports, Mayweather took a sly but subtle dig at his former star fighter, claiming fighters today chose to blow their money on expensive stuff. Instead of doing the smart thing by investing it. Davis promptly responded to this by revealing Floyd was stuck in Dubai. Why? Ironically, because of unpaid dues. Thus, starting their feud! While appearing in an interview with The Art Of Dialogue, Shane Mosley quickly proposed a fight to finally settle the beef!

Speaking about who would win between Davis and prime Floyd Mayweather, Mosley seemed confident ‘Pretty Boy’ would emerge victorious. However, when the host asked what would the result be if ‘Tank’ and ‘Money’ fought today, Mosley didn’t seem to have an answer. So, he said, “They should run that! Let’s see [if they can hold their own]. That [would] be a big one.”

Davis is 29-years-old and Mayweather is sitting comfortably at 47, so a fight isn’t impossible. Mosley’s proposal, though, has breathed new life into the idea, making the fight seem even more feasible. He said, “Then, you know, they could sanction it like Tyson and Jake Paul doing, right? To see if he can hold his own. Let’s run it! Do it at 140, 145.”

While Davis last entered the ring in April last year, Mayweather has also remained relatively active. Even though not as talented as Davis, John Gotti III fought Mayweather in June last year, proving ‘Money’ can still do the dance in the ring. However, it’s entirely up to both fighters whether they would want such a fight to happen. Nevertheless, a not so old tweet from Gervonta Davis suggests he would win in a fight against Mayweather.

Amid feud with Gervonta Davis, Floyd Mayweather announces his next fight

During the peak of their feud, Gervonta Davis tweeted, “Now I f*** around and knock Floyd out when I see em and I’ll care about going back to jail,” referencing his 90 days stint in Baltimore jail for breaking house arrest rules. He further added, “He such a b**** he don’t allow his security carry guns…”

Soon afterwards, Floyd Mayweather hopped on Instagram to announce his next fight, full announcement due on May 15. While the opponent is unlikely to be Davis, Mayweather has been linked with several potential opponents, alongside a failed rematch attempt against last exhibition opponent John Gotti III.

Though unlikely, a fight between Floyd Mayweather and Gervonta Davis has the potential to overshadow even the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight. Gervonta Davis has escalated his feud with Devin Haney — and the two boxers might have come close to blows outside of a nightclub in Las Vegas.

Davis and Haney have traded blows online in recent weeks, ever since Haney fell to a surprise defeat in his bout with Ryan Garcia. But the latest development in their feud has taken it from a simmer to a boil, running the risk of a physical altercation.

Why are Davis and Haney beefing?

Davis mocked Haney relentlessly on social media following the Garcia fight at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, as hopes dim for a long-gestating bout between the two. Those hopes certainly will not have gotten a boost after the WBA lightweight title holder Davis posted a photo of himself to Instagram in which he claims to have located Haney’s Mercedes-Benz SUV.

And to make matters worse? Davis took a picture right alongside it.

The super lightweight champion Haney made light of Davis’ provocative post by jokingly asking San Diego-based dealership Champion Motoring to send Davis his own luxury vehicle, and some might have thought that this would bring an end to the latest installment in their feud. But later, phone camera footage appears to show Davis and Haney outside a club, shouting at one another amidst the commotion outdoors.

It’s anyone’s guess as to who will write the next chapter in the Tank – Haney saga, but as long as the two can’t come to an agreement, their differences will have to be settled outside the boxing ring.

Ryan Garcia beat Devin Haney in one of the biggest surprises in boxing in 2024, but the biggest of all came when King Ry tested positive for a banned substance and criticism rained down on him from all sides, but there are still people who believe in him, as is the case of Gervonta Davis, who believes in his innocence and is willing to give him a rematch.

Gervonta Davis is willing to give Ryan Garcia a second chance

Davis assured that he will fight Ryan Garcia again at 140 pounds and won’t give it up with all the abuse he is taking for his reported positive PED tests from his fight against Devin Haney.

“145? He’s not even at 145. Why can’t he be at 140?” said Davis to Cigar Talk about a rematch with Garcia. “I’ll fight him at 140.”

Weight could be an issue, as Tank pointed out that Garcia‘s weight class is 140 pounds, not 143-145. The purse for Gervonta would be much bigger if he agrees to give Ryan a rematch instead of taking on guys like Frank Martin or anyone else in his own weight class.

The weight where Davis fights in recent years is at 135 pounds, so Garcia would have to move down a weight class, and the first time they faced each other was at 136 pounds with a 10-pound rehydration clause.

Davis is scheduled to return to action on June 15 against Frank Martin, so he will certainly have a lot of options available to him if he makes it through that fight successfully, and before the end of 2024 it is very likely that Gervonta and Ryan will step back into the ring.

Speaking to Davis, Naji from Cigar Talk broached the feud with Mayweather, which prompted a profound response from the Baltimore native. “A lot of people don’t know what Floyd [does]… He was going at me and I knew for sure he was going at me. That’s why I went at him. There’s no reason for me to go at Floyd,” said Davis, referring to Mayweather’s initial comment that he thought was directed at him.

When Naji pointed out that over the years, Davis and Floyd’s dynamic seemed like a love-hate relationship, Davis completely denied it while claiming he has surpassed Floyd’s legacy. “I’m about at that point where I [have] passed him and I am doing it at a young age,” said Davis. However, Davis wasn’t done proving his point, as he elaborated, revealing a new deal he has signed.

“That deal I’m talking about. He [doesn’t] know about that yet. That’s bigger than his deal,” said Davis. Famously, Floyd Mayweather bought his way out of Top Rank by paying them $750,000 to end the contract. He went on to promote his own fights, raking in millions over the years. Some reports even suggest the five division champion has made over a billion dollars throughout his career.

That being said, the accusation Gervonta Davis made in his response to Mayweather’s alleged comments about him was backed by a boxing insider.

Finally, some relief for Floyd Mayweather 

Just the other day, Davis in retaliation suggested that Mayweather was, ironically, stuck in Dubai because of some unpaid dues in the country. While there was no official confirmation about the allegation at first, controversial boxing matchmaker Rick Glaser confirmed the same on X later. He wrote, “…@Gervontaa #TankDavis is correct that Floyd’s being held there!!!”

Claressa Shields and Gervonta Davis have rubbed each other off the wrong way. The two leading boxers of their weight classes are now embroiled in a war of words on social media. In fresh updates on this front, ‘GWOAT’ Shields has taken a jab at ‘Tank’ while roping in his mother for comments he allegedly made on the former’s looks. Interestingly, both are in Las Vegas, for the Canelo vs. Munguia fight week.

Tank has been an active soul on social media for a few days now. While he made sure the world knew that Floyd Mayweather and him were not on good terms, he relayed the same information about his dislike for Devin Haney while reacting to the news of Ryan Garcia testing positive for PEDs, something Shields didn’t agree with. Shields sought to point out the same, by noting, “Tank’ really just don’t like {Devin Haney] and it shows.” And from there began an entire fiasco.

Claressa Shields claps back at Tank

On X, 29-year-old Shields posted an image of Tank’s mother, Kenya Brown, along with him. In captions, she responded to Garvonta Davis supposedly calling her a dog. She highlighted that she would use the inspiration of black women like Brown and herself to respond to every “man” who took swipes at black women.

She wrote, “Now @Gervontaa remember the strength and grace of our mothers, the strong black women who raised us. This is your lovely mom. Like me, I hope she would take offense to any so-called man — son or not — calling another black woman — me — a dog. Or better yet, putting their hands on one! Keep coming for me, Tank, you look dumb! And keep using your b*tch@ss brand to try tear us down; I’m gonna keep using mine — and your momma’s beautiful face — to uplift us! #GWOT.”

Prior to this, Tank had noted on his X that he does not like Haney and “the rest of y’all…” Then, when the boxing world chimed in on this freshly brewing fiasco between the fighters, a fan noted that Claressa Shields was “shady.” Agreeing with the user, the WBA lightweight champ wrote, “I would be too… look how she look.”

However, it does not seem like this entire back-and-forth will end here. Claressa Shields has vowed to get back at Tank for his comments in her forthcoming diss track.

A Diss Track on the Horizon

It seems like the era of diss tracks has officially set in. Kendrick Lamar has released his diss track to settle scores with Drake. Ryan Garcia in the previous week released his own diss track toward Haney, continuing his relentless efforts to undermine the fighter. Now, Shields too seems to be hopping on to the bandwagon after previously releasing a diss track aimed at Alycia Baumgardner.

After Tank had objected to the way Shields looked, the latter underscored her displeasure at the comments. Vowing to even out the scores, she revealed that she would release her diss track aimed at Tank very soon. On X she replied to him saying, “I’m dissin you on a song next midget. I got a great verse for you champ…” In a subsequent post, she doubled down on these chances. She wrote to her fans, “Diss track coming, subscribe to my YouTube channel.”

WBA lightweight chapion Gervonta Davis agreed to fight Frank Martin on June 15 during an event that will be more exciting than Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul out of all the events in June. The press conference for an event that will also have the David Benavidez vs Alexandr Gvozdyk for the WBC interim super middleweight title. At the press conference event in Las Vegas, where all four fighters of this double header presented themselves for the Saturday June 15 event. When ‘Tank‘ Davis jumped on stage, he was fired up and got his own show going in front of the cameras and the microphones. Frank Martin seemed a little tense during the entire exchange as Davis seemes in his element with some controversial jokes.

As they started talking on the mics, the situation got more heated when they stood up for their face-off. Warren made the mistake to place his hand on Gervonta Davis’ face and the champion slapped it down. The person who was evoiding conflict in the middle had a slight moment of panic but the situation defused rapidly. But Davis had another moment where he joked he wanted to meet Martin’s companion, either his wife or his girlfriend. That was also an uncomfortable moment that showed how much of a savage Gervonta Davis can be. But that wasn’t all, Davis also pulled up on Martin after the event and interrupted his interview with members of the press

‘Tank’ Davis was feeling sharp and slick with his tongue at hte press conference, he said this to Martin and the press: “I’m glad to be back in the ring. I’ve been off for a long time. I want to be flawless and do what I do best and that’s give you fans the best boxing you’ve seen up to date. He’s a frontrunner. I’m telling you, it’s a different beast in front of you. There’s nobody walking with him, holding his hand. It’s not going to be the same on June 15th. There’s a lot of bull s**t built up. I’m going to take it out on him. I’m sorry it’s going to be him.”
