Simone Biles has been taking things slow and steady, spending time with her family whenever possible. Amidst her return to the international stage, husband Jonathan Owens’ football matches, and an extended holiday season, the star gymnast has something new to witness every day.

Recently, she captured one of the most heartwarming moments of her life with the three important men in her family. Owens has always been an integral part of the Biles family, even before the couple’s wedding. The NFL safety has often visited his partner’s house without her to bond with her parents. The clip posted by the Olympic champion on Instagram proved the strength of this bond.

NFL games often carry some rituals to them, one of which is a fun dance by the player upon touchdown. Owens decided that a good bonding exercise between him, his father-in-law, and Biles’s godfather was to get them to groove along.

The video features the trio trying to dance like Owens after his touchdown at a match. While the move specifically does not have a name, Biles termed it the ‘STL’ move, referring to St. Louis since the NFL icon was born there. All three rolled their arms in the air and danced away while the star gymnast giggled and captured the special moment.

With the Super Bowl season currently in full swing, Biles has been super close to her husband, traveling wherever he went for his matches. Since she often acted as his lady luck, her presence in the fields was important. With Owens’ recent integration into the Green Bay Packers, the couple has had a rough time battling long distance. But all goes well when Monday matches prove to be victorious for NFL safety.

Recently, however, the couple sparked some controversy surrounding certain statements. Biles and Owens appeared on The Pivot Podcast, where the NFL player confessed how he didn’t know about who his wife was until they began dating. And apart from this, the Olympic hero, who recently added four more golds to her collection, declared that she will be called ‘Jonathan Owens’ wife one day instead of her name.

These statements sparked outrage among fans, who were shocked at Owens’ ignorance and Biles’ nonchalance toward herself. Yet, the couple remained unfazed by the chatter around on the internet and went on with their day.

Amidst controversy, Owens gifts his wife, Simone Biles, a special surprise

Online debates and noise aside, Owens still treats his queen like one. The couple spoils each other with lavish gifts, sometimes just to show their love and appreciation for each other. Recently, Owens made his wife’s morning better with a surprise.

The star gymnast took to Instagram to flaunt her husband’s thoughtfulness. Owens gifted her a variety of bouquets, all neatly arranged in flower vases. Gestures like this seemed to melt Biles’ heart as she showed off her happiness. Having stuck with each other for years, Biles and Owens stand true as the epitome of a power couple.

As the most formidable gymnast in history, Simone Biles has effortlessly outshined every woman or man in the gymnastic realm. But her 35 medals across Worlds and Olympics aren’t limited to metal pieces only. The moolah which she rakes in with each medal is a thing to consider too. After a two-year hiatus, when the 26-year-old made a comeback at the 2023 US National Championships, it was difficult to register how powerful her displays were. But now, as the Olympic year rolled in, it’s time for clearing the air. But the question does arise. How affluent is she in the grand scheme of things?

Currently standing with 27 World Championship medals including 21 golds, this year was path-breaking in Biles’ life. Not only that, she had showered herself with lucrative brand deals to diversify her portfolio and become the business acumen queen. But the one question that remains, how much money does Simone Biles make from gymnastics?

Simone Biles’ lucre and prospects

Ceremoniously enough, Biles has emerged as the most decorated woman athlete. But 2023 was especially noteworthy since she made it to the Forbes’ Highest-paid female athletes’ list. And according to that, she’s the owner of $10million, as per December 2022. And according to 2023’s Forbes list, she stands with $7.1million, the major of which has been bagged from endorsements. Biles rescinded herself on grounds of depression in 2020. Biles walked out of the Tokyo Olympics with ennui. But the Olympian doesn’t earn as much money as you think via gymnastics. To break it down, per Forbes, $37,500 for each gold medal, $22,500 for each silver medal, $15,000 for each bronze medal, according to 2022’s report.

Moving on, as per 2016 Rio Olympics, each gold medal held $25,000, each silver medal $15,000 and each bronze $10,000. The 26-year-old had walked home with a cumulative $147,500 from her Olympic winnings. But the 4x Olympic gold medalist credits a great deal of her career success to her brand partners.

Brand endorsements of Biles

Some brands Simone Biles has dabbled in are Athleta, Beats by Dre, Core Power Fitness Shakes, GK Elite, Candid Dental, Uber Eats, United Airlines, Visa, Hershey’s, Kellogg’s, MasterClass, Mattress Firm, and SK-II. Some days before the 2020 Summer Olympics, she terminated her ties with the behemoth Nike. Moreover, the Olympian concocts several sponsored content and advertises her brands across her social platforms.

Starting from featuring in Kellog’s Wheaties’ cereal box to Core Power’s commercial video, the 26-year-old has been firing on all cylinders. But one thing needs special mention, her comradeship with GK Elite and Athleta has benefitted the athlete and the brands alike. This is the Olympic year again, and Simone Biles is an expectant like no other. Can she reach the 40th medal mark this time?

As the world inches closer to the Paris Olympics 2023, the U.S. sporting realm is reassessing its contention. Throughout the NFL zeitgeist in 2023, several sports have converged on the football field for the fan’s support. Simone Biles is the perfect poster child for this convergence of Olympic greatness and NFL entertainment. However, Jonathan Owens‘ ludicrous comments have put her in damage-control mode. Interestingly, it was precisely a month ago when Simone Biles turned up in Wisconsin to support the Packers.

Simone Biles’ Sunday Night Football appearance during the Chiefs versus Packers game seemed to steal the thunder of the Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift romance. A similar magnitude of fame and applause was at the receiving end of all Olympic hopefuls during their respective appearances.

A spotlight on all Olympian appearances at NFL games

The allure of the weighty international recognition in Paris drew the patriots and fans alike to overlook their American football legends and instead focus on the athletic attainments of these American heroes. Throughout 2023, several Olympic legends took center stage at the football field while the crowds showered them with love. NBC Olympics & Paralympics captured these dispersed moments in an edited video for the X platform. Captioned, “Team USA brought the #ParisOlympics and #ParisParalympics hype to Sunday Night Football in 2023,” the video showcased the electrifying response from the crowds when these Olympians stepped onto the field. Starting with Simone Biles, the frame quickly changed to Noah Lyles showing off his hardware from the World Athletic Championships.

In the next frame, para cyclist Oksana Masters glowed amidst the cheers from the public. Next, soccer star Lynn Williams joined Paralympian and wheelchair basketball legend Steve Serio for the fans’ approbation. Katie Grimes (Swimming), Gerek Meinhardt and Lee Kiefer (Fencing), Jorge Sanchez and Ryan Neiswender (Wheelchair Basketball), Victor Montalvo (Breaking), Casey Kaufhold (Archery),  Ezra Frech (Para Track and Field), Shilese Jones (Gymnastics), Sara Hughes and Kelly Cheng (Beach Volleyball), Gabby Thomas and Anna Hall (Track and Field) were among the others who received similar recognitions from the enthusiastic crowds at different times. In a deja vu moment, another all-around gymnastics champion appeared for a Packers game.

Sunisa Lee turns up for the Packers game

Last weekend, Jonathan Owens and his Green Bay Packers crew tumbled into Sunisa Lee’s hometown for the game against the Vikings. While the NFL stars clashed on the field, Simone Biles remained absent from the sidelines. She was part of the Packers’ cheerleading squad during their last match against this familiar foe. While Biles remained out of view, Sunisa Lee cheered for her home team.

American soccer star Lindsey Horan and Paralympic wheelchair rugby player Chuck Aoki were also part of the Olympic star squad on Sunday. Although the Packers won the match, the undercurrent of controversy has marred the excitement for Biles.

They don’t share the same view of Simone Biles’ controversial husband.

On Tuesday’s episode of “The View,” co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin argued about Olympic

gymnast Simone Biles, 26, and her husband, Green Bay Packers NFL player Jonathan Owens, 28, in the wake of Owens’ recent comments that set the internet aflame.

On the ABC talk show, Griffin defended Owens, calling the pair a “very beautiful and adorable couple” who “seem very happy.” She also asked everyone to “give him some grace.”

Owens recently got slammed for comments he made on the “Pivot” podcast, where he said that he was more of a prize than his Olympic gold medalist wife (“I always say that the men are the catch,” he said).

He also confessed that he didn’t know who Biles was before they dated, when he first met her on a dating app.

“I didn’t know who she was at the time, but the first thing that I saw was that she just had a bunch of [Instagram] followers so in my mind, I’m like, ‘OK, she got to be good,’” he said.

The couple made their relationship public in 2020, and tied the knot in April 2023.

Reacting to the controversial interview, one fan tweeted, “The interview with Simone Biles and her husband Jonathan Owens is SO embarrassing. I can’t believe she let him talk about their relationship like that,” while sharing red flag emojis.

Simone Biles

“if everyone is calling you Simone Biles’ husband … you are not the catch,” another person wrote, while a third fan commented, “I had to Google Jonathan Owens but I did not have to Google Simone Biles.”

At the time, Biles appeared to fire back at her husband’s critics, posting on X (formerly Twitter) a meme captioned, “Are y’all done yet?”

Aside from Griffin, the other “View” co-hosts did not side with Owens.

Hostin scoffed at Owens’ claim that he hadn’t heard of his famous athlete wife before they dated, saying, “He knew who she was. She was on a Wheaties box! Everybody knows who Simone Biles is. I don’t know who he is.”

Griffin fired back: “He explains that he was in [football] training camp during the Olympics in July and early August and he didn’t have NBC. He was in college. He might not have seen. I get it. She’s the greatest of all time so he should’ve known, but I give him some grace. I think they’re a very cute couple.”

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens had a blissful Christmas when they found solace in each other’s arms. That occasion was particularly important for one of the most celebrated couples in America, given the turbulent days before that. Owens was almost grilled on the internet over his “catch” comment, while Biles put up a strong face, saving her man from the flares. After all this, their Christmas celebration pictures seemed to be a befitting answer to all the haters. However, things were not the same after a week as the world stepped into 2024.

While Simone Biles still seems to be in off-season mode after her triumph at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, the NFL season is at its peak. Owens’ Green Bay Packers will lock horns against the Chicago Bears on January 8. Understandably, professional commitments take precedence as the old saga of distance made a comeback on the very first day of the new year.

Distance strikes Simone Biles and Jonathan on New Year

In the latest update on Instagram, Simone Biles posted a series of five pictures of her New Year celebrations. But Jonathan Owens wasn’t present in any of those. “Ringing in the new year”, she captioned. The pictures came from the marriage ceremony of Biles’ friend Ali Tyler in New York.

Biles was donning a warm, dark-greenish dress in which she looked gorgeous while the bride was wearing a traditional white dress for the ring ceremony. It appeared that the event gave Biles some moments of pleasure as she once again braced the pangs of distance from her husband. The couple is setting major goals of commitment with the way they balance their personal and professional lives. They have always been there for each other despite being miles apart. Even then, the two take great pride in their sport. In fact, Simone went quite candid about it a few days back when she was asked for a comparison between gymnastics and football.

Simone Biles

Biles goes straight for gymnastics vs. football comparison

One of America’s most decorated Olympic gymnasts, Simone Biles, rated gymnastics as tougher than the NFL. She was hosted by Kenan Thompson and Kevin Hart on the popular podcast 2023 Back That Year Up. When asked, “Who do you think is the better athlete?”, Biles was initially surprised but took her side later.

I think we’re good at our sports”, Biles expressed while dodging the question initially. However, she soon made a thumping statement. “gymnastics harder, if he agrees or not”, the Olympic Champion noted. Nonetheless, she respects the NFL highly, more so her husband’s commitment to the sport.

Nottingham-born sisters Becky and Ellie Downie, representing Great Britain, aimed for success at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Becky, 29, won gold in the 2014 and 2016 European Championships for the uneven bars, while Ellie, seven years younger, claimed Britain’s first 2017 European all-around championship. Despite Becky’s 12th place in Beijing 2008 and 10th in Rio 2016, and Ellie’s 13th in Rio despite a fall, they eyed Olympic medals. As they readied for Tokyo 2020, they maintained their Olympic dream. However, even in elite gymnastics, athletes like Simone Biles drew immeasurable attention to mental health and even took hiatuses/sabbaticals because of its overpowering nature.

Despite Biles’ triumphant return and enduring dominance in gymnastics, her emphasis on mental health has remained a significant cynosure. While she spearheaded the US team to numerous victories, including the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, her openness about mental health struggles has been both admirable and impactful. Recently, attention has shifted towards the Downie sisters, who previously spoke out about the prevalent issue of abuse within the gymnastics sphere.

Cultural change proponents for the win

Becky Downie recently reshared a poignant Instagram story originally posted by Jennifer Mvllveen, the founder of Gymnast Alliance and a BG advisor. The story featured a reel showcasing Becky, where she expressed her aspirations, saying, “If everything goes to plan, I went to Paris and I had a gold medal around my neck. What I did for Gym Alliance to me is still gonna be the most significant thing I’ve ever done in this sport. Yet, the heartfelt caption penned by Jennifer was equally compelling. She beautifully conveyed, “@bdownie92 and @elliedownie have been awarded MBEs for their services to gymnastics.”

Simone Biles

“This recognition is so important and special – it’s not just for their INCREDIBLE sporting talent, hard work and courage in their sporting performances (although that is truly admirable in itself) but it recognises their IMMENSE COURAGE speaking out for our #gymnastalliance cause,” – was quotedBecky and Ellie showed great courage by openly pushing for a big variation in culture. Their help for this issue should be praised, which makes them great precedents and really worthy of the MBE prize. However, this happy acknowledgement hides a bigger story.

Normalization of abuse in gymnastics training

In 2020, gymnasts Downie and her younger sister Ellie spoke about the common unsavoriness happening in training sessions for becoming an elite athlete. They grasped it as something normal. This misuse involved physical, violating, and sometimes sexual harm. The subsequent Whyte Review in British gymnastics revealed alarming statistics.

It’s the gymnastic GOAT Simone Biles making headlines again. She who wants to be familiar as ‘Jonathan Owen’s wife’, oftentimes gets into jokey squabbles with her NFL husband Jonathan Owens. But at the end of the day, it’s just 9 months into their marriage and the honeymoon phase doesn’t look like it’s getting over anytime soon.

The NFL season is on and the athletic couple has already turned several heads on grounds of their adorable matching outfits and in-field PDA. The wife, who is fresh off her 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships 4 gold podium, has not wasted a single moment before cheering on her husband in-person. Now, when the Green Bay Packers are already in their second last NFL week, Biles gushed over her husband’s newest update.

Simone Biles swoons over Owens’ airport look

Owens, who stated “I always say that the men are the catch” is on a mission to prove the trolls wrong and himself right. At least, his latest story asserts it. Dressed up in a red winter co-ords with white wreaths drawn all-over, the NFL safety prepares to board the flight to show Minnesota Vikings where they belong.

But his wife Simone Biles, while bidding farewell, can’t stop obsessing over how hot her husband looks. She reshared Owens’ Instagram story with the caption with five heart-eyed emojis. Since Christmas, their bond is getting more eyes as they two hit the lunch table hours after their heartwarming Christmas update.

Simone Biles

Digging into a cheesy bread bowl dip with nachos, the husband snapped his wife sitting across the table with the caption “Lunch Dates”. Both sporting comfortable outfits, they proved that the holidays are meant for family time and lots of love. But a while ago, no matter how many mountains she can cross for her husband, in matters of athleticism, Simone Biles doesn’t know to droop.

Biles thinks her sport is tougher

In the most decorated podcast, 2023 Back That Year Up, hosted by two of US greats, Kenan Thompson and Kevin Hart, Simone Biles appeared as a special guest. Amid the light-hearted questionnaire session, the question “who do you think is the better athlete?” caught the Olympian off guard.

But she pulled herself back up to answer, “I think we’re good at our own sports. We’ve tried to pin each other against on, like difficulty, ability and all that stuff”. But immediately after, she pulled her guard down to spill the real beans.

Not disappointing her fans, she acknowledged that gymnastics demand more adeptness than football. To solidify her statement, she said, “gymnastics harder, if he agrees or not”, to which Thompson subtly picked her side, claiming, “I know your name”.

But the duo’s arguments behind closed doors are never ending, since she aces his routines whereas Owens fails to. Nonetheless, their love knows no bounds and we’ll see more of them in 2024.

Simone Biles has etched her name in history for her incredible gymnastics prowess. The Olympic star broke multiple records to become one of America’s favorite athletes. And when she stumbled at the Tokyo Olympics, fans came to support her with full force. No wonder; she’s the true GOAT of gymnastics, and she now has five moves named after her.

In a candid chat with stars Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson, the gymnast revealed her not-so-favorite move and which one scared her the most. And while having five maneuvers named after her is a big feat, Biles confessed a sad truth behind them.

During the chat, the hosts asked Biles if she could perform all five moves named after her. The gymnast laughed and confessed that, despite the high honors, she couldn’t perform all five of them.

While she didn’t have a particular favorite out of the five, Biles mentioned that there was one move that intimidated her. This move was featured during her epic comeback on the international stage in Belgium.
Simone Biles

Gymnastics demands a balance of both mental and physical strength. During the Tokyo Olympics, however, Biles suffered from a condition called ‘twisties’ that causes an imbalance between mental and physical coordination. This is dangerous for gymnasts who suffer from the risk of serious injuries.

Biles recalled trying a two-and-a-half twisting vault when it hit her. She lost her sense of awareness mid-air, reporting that she had no idea where she was. Twisties are often infamous for resulting in broken bones, concussions, and other gruesome injuries. But now that Biles has overcome her mental block for the most part, what lies ahead?

Simone Biles’ Olympics return still hangs in an air of uncertainty

Paris Olympics 2024 is fast approaching, and every gymnastics fan wants to know if Biles gets her redemption. Ever since the Tokyo Olympics stint, the star gymnast has been dodging the question and focusing on healing her mental health. However, 2023 brought a ray of hope.

Quipped the Olympic hero as she addressed questions surrounding her appearance at the event. She has been diligently preparing to flaunt her best, and with a stellar performance at the World Championships, things are looking up. While the committee makes the final decision surrounding this, Biles is hopeful to make it to the top.

The year 2023 was bursting at the seams with several great artistic gymnastics competitions. The gymnasts of Team USA especially had a very dynamic year. They witnessed an Olympic gold medalist strive her best to compete in the form of Sunisa Lee. Similarly, they also watched an Olympic gold medalist make one of the most celebrated and successful comebacks in the form of Simone Biles.

While this year will drift away soon, the memories made and captured during it will not. A new social media post has showcased several such unforgettable moments caught from excellent angles. While Simone Biles won four gold medals in this year’s artistic gymnastic world championship, will she be able to win 2023’s final contest?

The stills of something dynamic and breathtaking

USA Gymnastics recently added a post on its official Instagram page carrying four photos of US gymnasts. The post carried the caption, “Photo of the Year Nominees: Women’s Artistic. 2023 saw World Champions, Pan American Champions and National Champions rise as gymnasts prepare for the path to Paris.”

The post further read, “New faces & returning stars alike proved the future of the sport is in great hands.” The first image was of Tokyo’s all-around gold medalist Sunisa Lee, followed by the greatest gymnast of all time, Simone Biles. The remaining two shots displayed team images showcasing Jordan Chiles, Zoe Miller, Joscelyn Roberson, and many others.

Simone Biles

While Simone Biles, Suni, and everyone else are just the subjects of the photographs, they still add great value to the images. The confident pose of Biles, the downward gaze of Lee before mustering the strength and tolerance for a routine, and the carefree vibe of the group photos.

All these elements significantly add up. Interestingly, USA Gymnastics also said that the winner of the picture will not be decided by them. In fact, the decision for the winner of Photo of the Year will be decided by the fans via polls.

Will Simone Biles receive the most votes?

USA Gymnastics also mentioned in their caption, “Cast your vote in our Instagram Stories for your favorite photo from the Women’s Artistic Discipline!” While this method will allow fans to directly vote for Simone Biles, it will also allow them to vote for their other favorites. The competition is usually one-sided when Simone Biles competes in any event.

However, every gymnast with a considerable fan following on the list stands the chance to win this time. All the gymnasts in the list have worked really hard through all the tournaments of the year. Be it the US Classics, the US Nationals, the World Championship training camps, as well as the World Championships in Belgium. Which image was your favorite and who are you going to cast your vote for?

It’s Simone Biles in a podcast setting again, but it’s not ‘The Pivot’ this time. Since her comeback event, the 2023 US National Championships, the 26-year-old has justified the title ‘GOAT’ before her name. There’s no such platform she steps on and history isn’t made. Currently standing with six World all-around Championship titles, the Olympian takes the most pride in something else.

At the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Biles jumped in joy, screaming, “I got my 5th skill named”. The 5th skill is the Yurchenko Double Pike, she has four other skills named after her, two on the floor, another in the vault, and one in the beam. Each of these skills have their own difficulty levels. But the real question is, which skill is she the most scared of?

Simone Biles rates the skills named after her

Kenan Thompson and Kevin Hart hosted the 7x Olympic medalist in an exclusive episode of 2023 Back That Year Up. While she talked about her love life with her husband, she also offered glimpses of her gymnastic world. When Thompson started his speech with “You’ve five gymnastics skills named after you”, the obvious question that followed was “do you have favorite move?” Biles’ expression looked like she already knew what was coming her way. She unhesitantly answered, “I don’t really have a favorite. I guess they’re scary to most scary”. But the moment everyone waited for, she finally spilled, “the scariest I think is the Biles II on vault”.

Let’s go back to October and relive her 5th skill naming moment. But before that, the fall on the podium training day had initially left her success in suspension. In Antwerp, Belgium, she emerged as the most decorated gymnast of all time, mainly because she could ace the ‘scary’ routine like a pro, putting aside her fears. But the world didn’t fail to capture her teary-eyed moment, which came with notes of gratitude.

Simone Biles

Biles’ elation knew no bounds

Since her first World Championships victory came in Antwerp a decade ago, her recent win brought the story to a full circle. She had said, “World championships!!!!! Whew Antwerp will always hold a special place in my heart.” But her following statement stood as a testament to her dedication towards gymnastics. Said, “I’m speechless. I’m honored. I’m excited and I’m blessed! Doing it for the little girl who fell in love with the sport!!!!!”

On her plethora of history-making podiums, she had extended notes of gratitude, saying, “I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to fans, friends, family & partnerships who have been unwavering pillars of support throughout my mental health journey.” For someone who didn’t fathom a comeback after the Tokyo Olympics setback, is looking forward to another Olympics now.
