It makes no sense to stop a pinwheel from spinning and pull out a single-colored vane for examination, just to see how it works. It makes even less sense to talk about Simone Biles’s gymnastics in terms of her “skill.” That’s there, yes, but it’s the stick to the twirl. When Biles overcomes physics in the air, it’s not a mere matter of technique. Something more phenomenal takes over in order for her to meet gravity with such dalliance. Call it harmony.

The legacy of the greatest gymnast who ever lived, male or female — and that’s what she is after her comeback to win a sixth individual all-around world championship at 26 on Friday — is that her will and her imagination are in perfect league with her body. That’s what makes her soar. And let it be a lesson to everyone who thinks a young woman champion has to be driven to the point of fracture and self-doubt to become great.

So many times, the beauty and artifice of gymnastics obscure stressed bones and split, pressured motives. Two years ago, when Biles suffered that eye-widening case of “the twisties” during the Tokyo Olympics, there were those who called her a quitter for withdrawing from five of six events. Their buried assumption was that a disorder is the necessary price of a gold medal in women’s gymnastics.

Not anymore, not after the exhibition Biles has made in Antwerp, Belgium, over the past week, at once so muscular and lambent and at ease with herself in peacock blue. “It was emotional, and it means everything to me, the fight, everything that I’ve put in to get back to this place, [to] feel comfortable and confident enough to compete,” she said. “It was a lot.”

What a change in demeanor from Tokyo, where Biles couldn’t mark herself in the air to make a safe landing — her mind simply refused to cooperate with her limbs mid-competition. She was suffering from a tangle of pressures and anxiety, but no small part of it was that USA Gymnastics seemed to expect her to vault lightly past the years-long abuses of team doctor Larry Nassar and the Karolyi coaching regime, and back on to the medal podium, to look past the lack of accountability and lead a pack of younger gymnasts with a plastic, cooperative smile. Something in her rebelled.
“My mind and body are simply not in sync,” she said at the time
These days, she doesn’t complete an interview without proudly talking about her “therapy” and referencing self-care as the bedrock of her accomplishments, which now stand at 35 Olympic and world championship medals and counting. Consider how ridiculously extreme the threshold for physical and mental pain is in her sport: Despite a career encrusted by gold, she had to defend herself from a Texas politician who called her “a national embarrassment” because she withdrew in Tokyo rather than risk falling on her neck and paralyzing herself for the sake of an organization that oversaw her abuse. Now she’s the most decorated athlete in its history. “Every day I try to think about it, especially in therapy when we talk about it,” she said. “And I think that’s when all the emotions come up. And I really think about what I’ve done and what we’ve done to the sport and push that forward.”
Her formal decision to return came only after she took considerable time off to heal her psyche, and plan and enjoy her wedding to NFL safety Jonathan Owens. “I was, like, married to gymnastics,” she told Olympics.com, “and now I feel attached to so many other things and gymnastics is just a part of my day. … I get to go home to a house, to my husband, to my dogs, to all this stuff, where before it was, man, gym, gym, gym.”

She initially returned to workouts to stay fit, and her coaches never tried to argue her into a comeback; new competitive leotards just showed up one day, in case she cared to wear them again. Barely two months ago, she made her initial return to competition, and a week ago it might have seemed she was still getting her competitive feet under her. But here’s what happens when Biles is ready and willing to compete:

Her performance on the four all-around events at the worlds — vault, bars, beam and floor — was her usual combination of beyond-category writhing moves, performed with barely a tremble. There was just a brief quake as she mounted the beam and then, laughably, after a series of skying tumbling runs, a freakish little misstep when a foot caught the mat in the floor exercise, which she promptly recovered from with a rueful grin. Otherwise, she was virtually flawless, especially on her vault, in which she gyroscoped upward and fell to the earth again, with the certainty of a spear driving into the ground, to earn a 9.5 on execution

On the podium, she led a trio of medalists who checked in at 21 or older, flanked by 24-year-old Rebeca Andrade of Brazil and 21-year-old American Shilese Jones. This, too, is part of her legacy — and what a welcome influence. Hopefully it will mean ever-sturdier champions with experience and the ability to stand up for themselves against abusers who may come along, who would bully prom-aged girls into injured acquiescence and make even a gold medalist feel she was letting someone down for simply protecting her own neck.

“Seeing what we’re doing and being more mature, physically and mentally, in the gym, it just gives all the hope in the world that you don’t have to peak at 16,” Biles said a few weeks back, on her return to competition. “Your time is still coming.”

Those who are still coming will have a better time in this wrenching sport because of what Biles has done with her own era.

Wasn’t 2023 a successful one for US Gymnastics? A year when the athletes’ touching personal stories were equally significant to their incredible professional growth. Consider the case of LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne who found love in MLB great Paul Skenes and finally recovered her footing on the mats. Then there is legendary gymnast Simone Biles who grabbed the spotlight with her triumphant comeback after marrying Jonathan Owens. When word spread that Biles wanted to have a family with Owens, her horde of admirers grew even more devoted to her.

Amidst these sporting titans, a former gymnast from LSU and member of the USA National team, who has journeyed an identical route, announced her pregnancy. Learning about the same, Dunne and Biles joined in celebrating the newcomer.

Olivia Dunne joined gymnastics GOAT in a hearty welcome

Former American artistic gymnast Alexis “Lexie” Priessman left her impact on the sport by competing for the United States in a number of international championships and joining the National Team from 2010 to 2013. Priessman was also a valuable gymnast for the LSU Tigers throughout the 2015–16 season. Fast forward to now, she married Cory Matthew Heffron, a baseball player, on August 29, 2023, in a beautiful ceremony. “Life is about to get a little bit sweeter!” Priessman wrote in her recent post on Instagram along with adorable photos, expressing her enthusiasm for the new chapter and looking forward to the birth of their bundle of joy.

The couple shared two pictures from their photoshoot; Priessman wore a white puff sleeves top with jeans while Heffron dressed in casual grey jeans and a black tee with a cap. Just pure joy reflecting on their pictures as the retired gymnast further added, “Baby Heffron we can’t wait to meet you 💗💙.” Adding to their happiness, many familiar names joined in. Olivia Dunne wrote, “Congratulations!” with a red heart. Simone Biles also wished the adorable couple, saying, “congrats” with a white heart.

Just this week, Dunne herself spoke about her balance of newly acquired fame upon becoming an internet celebrity. In an interview with People, she said, “This year I have the best grasp on it. The past few years, juggling NIL or ever since my sophomore year, since the summer of 2021, I’ve definitely had a hard time finding balance.” Not long back, the media was knee-bent on her relationship status confirmation until her boyfriend Paul Skenes finally confessed. Ahead of these two lovebirds stand Biles and Owens who have been open about their future plans in public.

Simone Biles talks about her future babies with husband

In an interview at the beginning of the year, Biles candidly stated that she and her then-fiance Owens wanted to have kids. In their humorous conversation, Biles revealed that there could be a difference in their desired number of children. She said, “He always says he wants a football team, but he usually says three.” However, following that, Biles answered a few questions in an interactive “ask me anything” session on Instagram. One question in particular was if she would like children and how many she would prefer.

Biles said, “yes we want kids. I would say 2 & Jonathan would say 3 is the perfect number.” Later, she added, “I don’t want to be outnumbered lolz,” adding a little levity and honesty to her statement. At the time, their fans also conjectured in a lighthearted manner about Owens’ joke about owning an entire squad of kids. Serving as examples of their exemplary contributors in athletics, these pairs have set a high bar in every milestone they achieve.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens made their compelling entrances to the sports scene becoming powerful figures this year. Their romance, which began in the early COVID-19 time, resulted in a happy April wedding. Even though it was difficult to keep up a long-distance relationship, they continued to steal meaningful moments from each other. But in the midst of their enjoyment as individuals, their steadfast dedication to generosity never faltered.

Last year, Biles received the highest civilian honor in the country, Medal of Freedom, by President Joe Biden at the White House. And, she is still committed to enabling other kids to achieve their goals having been in foster care herself. Now, Owens took the lead as Thanksgiving approached, showing their mutual commitment to giving back to society.

Simone Biles joined by Jonathan Owens for a noble cause

The debate of how many kids the Owens want has hardly taken the backseat when the NFL player dropped in another fatherly cue. However, doing good deeds has always been personal for both Biles and Owens. Since Thanksgiving is around the corner, Owens took to his Instagram and shared a holiday special post. He captioned it, “Excited to announce I’ll be partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of Green Bay and Festival Foods for my second annual Turkey giveaway.” He further added, “Feels amazing being able to bless families and provide lifelong memories for the kids.”

Noting his second holiday-time collaboration, he said, “It’s always been important to me to give back especially during the holidays.” Owens was involved in a similar fun project on July 13th, when he joined a bunch of young football players. He gave the high school children a lesson in football during his visit to the football cadets in St. Louis, Missouri. He smiled as he thought back on it, saying, “Another successful camp in the books!” Now, eager for the next activity, he wrote, “Thank you all for the support, Monday can’t get here fast enough.”

Can a single caring connection help children in foster care become the people they want to be and lead them toward their dreams? No one has walked on this better than Simone Biles, who was adopted at the age of four. Biles often helps kids who are going through similar situations. In partnership with Friends of the Children, she led the charge of bringing the organization’s mission to her native Houston. This program links every kid with a mentor, creating a supportive relationship that lasts for at least 12 years, with the goal of developing long-lasting ties with foster youngsters. While this just happens to be a feather in her wings, the gymnast was also recognized for her humanitarian commitments.

Simone Biles gets rewarded with one of the greatest honor

President Joe Biden announced a list of 17 exceptional individuals who were chosen to receive the esteemed 2022 Presidential Medal of Freedom on July 1, 2022. Following that, on July 7, the honor was given away during a ceremony held at the White House in Washington, D.C.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian award in the country and Biles was the youngest recipient of this accolade ever. Although her bright grin at the event said it all, she expressed her gratitude saying, “so honored & thankful to be recognized as a recipient.” Biles and Owens’ recognition of duties in their sports as well as beyond makes them a beloved couple and has rightfully gained a special place in the hearts of fans

Gymnastics athlete or not, Simone Biles has grown to be an icon for many. The 20-time World Gold medalist has conquered her field and beyond to make herself a global star. Following her decision to cut her Tokyo Olympic journey short, Simone recently made her presence back on the field at the 2023 Worlds. The gymnast not only provided an example of prioritizing one’s well-being but also marked her excellent presence winning many hearts and accolades.

Simone’s performance at the 2023 Worlds was a base for the strong fan base that she holds. Be it little kids choosing Simone as their hero to dress up for Halloween, or honoring the gymnast by wearing her collection, the 26-year-old has found love everywhere. A newer update on the X today, adds on to the stronger image Biles has carried over for years since debut.

Simone Biles receives a new avatar

On the 8th of November, Gymnastics Now took to their X handle to share an exciting post of the gymnastics icon’s newly perceived avatar. The post read, “We asked AI to make Simone Biles a Disney Pixar character, and of course it made her a superhero.” The AI-generated image by the $15 Billion organization can be seen hosting a smiling avatar of Simone as she flaunts a leotard but with a ‘Superman’ sign on the front. And as many would agree, the AI wasn’t in the slightest of the wrongs

Simone’s comeback at the Worlds

Simone Biles

Biles made a comeback on an international level after two whole years of hiatus. However, as she returned, Simone’s vigor on the field remained the same while her outlook towards her extensive presence had stirred differently. During the 2023 World Gymnastics Championship, Simone led the team to their 7th consecutive title. Following up, the icon individually earned 3 golds and a silver; clinching a total of 34 World and Olympic medals, higher than any gymnast ever.

Though Simone’s performance remained as charming as ever, the gymnast revealed that she had learned to take a step back. “I was, like, married to gymnastics,” Simone told Olympics.com, “and now I feel like I’m attached to so many other things and gymnastics is just a part of my day because at the end of my practice, I’m like, ‘Well, I get to go home to a house, to my husband…” Be it on the grounds or off, Simone Biles continues to inspire and set examples.

Simone Biles has been an icon of inspiration for the many looking up to the gymnastics star. The 26-year-old has stood to acclaim the best of the titles the industry has to offer. From 7 Olympic medals to being the most decorated gymnast ever, Simone Biles has only had coveted titles with every stride of hers. However, as she treads through her path with mouth-gaping feats, the gymnast has remembered to let her feet simmer on the ground.

During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Simone encountered a situation any gymnast would dread; experiencing twisties. Though she stood on the remarkable stage, the youngster made sure to prioritize her health before she ventured any further. Her actions set a worthy example for the onlookers. Interestingly, that wasn’t the only time Simone stood up for her well-being, though it introduces a prime insight into the power her voice and vociferous stance holds and the strength it requires; leading her towards acknowledgment.

Simone Biles receives honor on the global stage

On November 8th, the Global Wellness Summit made a comeback for its 17th edition in Msheireb Downtown Doha, under the theme of “A Time of Transformation.” The event aims to bring together leaders and visionaries to shed a positive impact and, along the way, shape the future of the global wellness industry. Today, the event stepped ahead to honor someone well aligned well with its intent; Simone Biles. “GWS celebrates Simone Biles with Debra Simon Award for excellence in mental wellbeing,” a tweet updated.

According to the reports, the award was presented to Simone as a highlight of the steps she took in order to put forth her mental wellbeing. “It’s an honour to stand up here in my Mom’s memory and personally congratulate Simone. I thank you for being a trailblazer and a pioneer and for making wellness a priority in your life and setting an example for others. I promise that my Mother is cheering you on,” Lauren Wright, president of the Debra Simon Family Foundation, said. The award seemed a right fit for the gymnast who walked the gravel path to bear it all. She has bared it all emotionally and has escaped unscathed, despite what naysayers speak about her mental health and its repercussions.

Simone emerges victorious against negativity

During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Simone Biles faced a rather bizarre phenomenon called the Twisties. The conditions cause the gymnasts to lose awareness as they perform stunts up in the air. The athletes lack the knowledge of where they are; making it dangerous to land. Following the same, Simone withdrew from all events but two. Though she came back to win a bronze on the balance beam, her decision was criticized by the spectators.

One of them bashed the youngster, calling her ‘selfish’, and remarked that she had let the team down. However, Simone ensured to not let it affect her. In the following days, Simone took to her Instagram to exclaim how proud she was of her actions and that her current decision wouldn’t wipe out her past achievements. The icon wrote “the word quitter is not in my vocabulary,” letting the world know that it was okay to take the time off and prioritize oneself and their well-being

Record-breaking American gymnast Simone Biles and her NFL star husband Jonathan Owens have proven themselves, again and again, a devoted and loving pair. They tied the knot in May, following three years of dating. Though they are both busy with their own athletic pursuits, they still manage to make time for each other and show up in many of the career moments that matter.

One such occasion includes Green Bay Packers games. Owens plays safety for the team, and though Biles cannot make it to every game (she currently resides in Texas due to gymnastics training), she makes a point of heading to as many as she can. She was there in the stands on Sunday, Nov. 5, when the Packers took down the Los Angeles Rams in a commanding win. Biles then commemorated the moment with the sweetest couples pic on her Instagram.

Simone Biles

“victory monday!!!!!!” she captioned the cute photo of the pair posing together on the sidelines of Lambeau Field in Green Bay.

“Let’s gooooo 🔥🧀,” Owens responded in the comment section.

The post follows up the sweetest trio of photos that the Olympic medalist shared from an idyllic fall photoshoot that the pair posed for recently. Wearing their seasonal best—in varying shades of brown, of course—they stood among the beautiful orange and yellow leaves, sweetly holding one another. All of this is to say, if it wasn’t clear before just how beautiful their relationship is, it’s more than apparent now.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens make the most ideal athletic couple. Time and again, they have proved that distance holds the least importance when love is brimming. After their official marriage on April 22, 2023, the couple could hardly be in physical proximity for long. But they go the extra mile to hype each other up.

On November 5, the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Rams locked horns in a thrilling bout. After 20 touchdowns, the Packers left their competitor to 3 and unfurled their victory flag. Among the top cheerers, there was none other than Owens’ wife, Biles. Moving past several celebrity-related controversies, the 26-year-old turned up at Wisconsin as her husband’s lady luck. So, the Packers’ safety celebrated the win with his forever cheerleader.

Simone Biles’ husband celebrates victory

The new joiner of the football fan-club, the 4X Olympic medalist, couldn’t stop smiling after the paparazzi caught the couple being romantic. Be it an in-game or a post-game victory moment, the couple held each other tight in every picture they posed for. Having said that, the wife celebrated Owens’ NFL dream-come-true moment in a special post. And the husband chimed in with a 2-word message.

Resorting to her Instagram handle, Biles posted a photo and penned, “victory monday!!!!!!” As the couple wrapped their arms around each other, they sported bright gleeful smiles. Interestingly, the background, though nuclear, had a green and yellow crowd. Some people were already out in the field, while some enjoyed an NFL hangover.

Moreover, in response to his wife, the Packers safety wrote, “Let’s gooooo” with a fire and a cheesecake emoji. The expression clearly asserted a date night, where they would indulge in their favorite dishes. Even when Packers accepted defeat to the Minnesota Vikings, the Olympian took him out to lighten the burden. Though victorious, Jonathan Owens’ road to victory wasn’t smooth. Falling victim to several trolls, the 28-year-old sailed through rough. But being by his wife, nothing looked unachievable. In the same vein, a recent post of his has a bold statement.

Jonathan Owens has a strong message

Since the 28-year-old anchored his team to the Monday victory, his excitement knew no bounds. However, besides the happy celebrations, he had a strong message to share. Revealing some in-game field moments, Owens penned, “Never take it for granted,” with a joined hand emoji. His statement clearly reflected his passion for his game and the love he holds.

To add more flavor, his super supportive wife commented, “that’s my husband,” with a fire emoji. Showing off his star partner, Biles’ comment sounded like she takes immense pride in him. Having said so, the trolls who lashed out for Jonathan’s game incompetency also hopped in to extend support.

As the Packers’ safety stepped into the 10th week of the NFL season, more games await his performances. On the other hand, Biles’ upcoming Olympics makes her balance her own career with her constant NFL cheering

Jonathan Owens, husband of Olympic legend Simone Biles and NFL safety for the Green Bay Packers, has made waves in the NFL recently. During the Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings game last week, Owens sustained a facial injury, with a noticeable wound on his left cheek, and was even seen in a medical room.

Despite this injury, he played a crucial role and helped secure a massive victory at the Packers vs. Los Angeles Rams game.  Biles, despite being away from her man, was the perfect cheerleader for him, and she even took to Instagram to display her pride in him. And now, despite the wounded face, the gymnastics queen couldn’t stop gushing over her better half and penned a heartfelt note to him.

Simone Biles gushes over her NFL husband Jonathan Owens

In his latest Instagram post, Jonathan Owens shared a carousel of images captured during the Green Bay Packers vs. Los Angeles Rams game. The first image featured Owens making a decisive tackle on No. 11, Brett Rypien of the Rams.  The rest of the images showed the epic highlights of his pivotal role in the Packers’ exhilarating victory, with Owens being celebrated by his teammates and the enthusiastic Packers fan base. Owens wrote in the caption, “Never take it for granted,” with palms joined emoji.

Following this, many comments poured in as fans expressed their admiration for the NFL hunk. However, one comment stood out, and that was from his wife, the gymnastics legend. Biles, beaming with pride for her man, wrote in the comments, “That’s my husband 🔥🫶🏾”. The heartfelt message came after Owens shone brightly during the game, and Biles couldn’t contain her excitement from miles away in Houston, Texas.

How the gymnastics queen has become a part of the NFL world

During the recent showdown between the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, with one sack and five tackles, Ownes delivered sheer perfection. The Packers defeated the Rams, sealing a final score of 20-3 in their favor. Biles, ever the biggest cheerleader of her man, took to social media to express her elation. She shared a heartwarming picture of herself and her husband from a previous Packers vs. Vikings game and captioned the post, “Victory Monday!!!!!!.”

As the fall NFL season surges ahead in full swing, fans are excited to see more of Biles at Packers games as Jonathan Owens continues to shine.

The gymnastics legend on the sport’s biggest star and watching Team Romania’s resurgence in Antwerp

At the Montreal 1976 Olympic Games, Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci was so far ahead of the sport the three-digit scoreboards, famously, couldn’t keep up.

When the then-14-year-old earned the sport’s first perfect score in Olympic competition, onlookers in the Montreal Forum saw the displays flash 1.00 not 10.0.

47 years later, Simone Biles finds herself pushing the sport just as Comaneci did before her, as the rule book has added an astounding five elements named in her honour over the past decade.

“I say that almost every half of a century somebody comes [and changes the sport],” Comaneci told Olympics.com in Antwerp as she took in competition at the 2023 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. “She’s this generation’s modern idol right now.”

After sitting out of competition for nearly two years following the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Biles returned competitive gymnastics earlier this year in August.

In Antwerp, she’s already made history twice: in the qualifying round, she successfully competed her daring Yurchenko double-pike vault (now the Biles II and her fifth named element) and Wednesday evening (4 October) won her 33rd World and Olympic medal, tying her for most ever with Vitaly Scherbo.

“It’s very unique in our sport to go away for two years and come back with almost the most difficulty that anybody can think about,” marveled Comaneci. “I think when you talk about gymnastics right now, everybody talks about Simone and I think this is great for the sport.”

Simone Biles is undoubtedly the USA’s best. One of the most decorated gymnasts today, Biles has achieved so much over the years, recently winning her 34th medal in the Olympics and championships. All of the onfield brilliance aside, she is an equally great human being. Being so loving and caring, she recently wished her special friend on her birthday.
