Martin Bakole has no doubt as to who he thinks will get their hand raised between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois.

The heavyweight titans are set to square off on September 21 at Wembley Stadium for the IBF heavyweight title.

Dubois was recently upgraded from ‘interim’ to full world champion after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt to fulfil his rematch clause with Tyson Fury.

AJ opens up as a 1/5 favourite to beat Dubois with talkSPORT Bet.

And Bakole – who has sparred both men – is in agreement with the oddsmakers.

“Joshua is too good for Dubois and more experienced. He has a technique and a big heart,” he told talkSPORT.com.

Daniel doesn’t have a big heart so as soon as he starts landing the big beautiful punches, he will give up.

“He doesn’t have a big heart. I think Joshua for the experience but anything can happen.

“Daniel Dubois can land beautiful punches he surprised everyone against Hrgovic but I don’t Joshua will give up and he will try his best.

“So for experience, for boxing style, for his brain, I think he is a little bit higher than Dubois.”

The Congolese heavyweight claims to have stopped Dubois twice in sparring and given Joshua a ‘hard time’ when they shared the ring together.

“Ask anyone about me. Go ask Daniel Dubois about me, ask Joshua about me, ask Usyk about me, ask Tyson Fury about me, they will keep quiet. Nobody will say they gave me a hard time,” he added.

“I gave them all a hard time. I stopped Daniel Dubois twice, stopped Joe Joyce and Joshua oh, that was a big one, he was hurt that day.”

Bakole is currently ranked by all four major sanctioning bodies including a No.1 rating with the WBA.

Since losing for the first and only time in his professional career against Michael Hunter in October 2018, the 31-year-old has strung together a nine-fight winning streak and has now been handed the biggest opportunity of his career.

On August 3 in Los Angeles, Bakole will face Jared Anderson in Riyadh Season’s first overseas event, headlined by Israil Madrimov vs Terence Crawford.

Anderson is widely considered to be one of boxing’s most exciting heavyweight prospects while Fury has tipped him to become the next big thing.

If Bakole can derail the hype train then it will be a massive statement that would open doors to some colossal fights.

Heavyweights Martin Bakole and Jared Anderson are the latest additions to Riyadh Season’s first card on US shores – headlined by Terence Crawford – after Tim Tszyu versus Vergil Ortiz Jr was cancelled.

Turki Alalshikh promised a big replacement and, in terms of power, he has delivered. Tszyu’s cut from the Sebastian Fundora fight turned out too bad to fight again so soon, meaning fans miss out on what was an excellent piece of matchmaking, at least for now.

To keep the hype high, the promotion has decided to step undefeated Anderson up against Bakole – the Congolese heavyweight fighting out of Scotland that his promoter and trainer claim is the most avoided in the division.

Bakole is coming off an impressive stoppage of heavyweight stalwart Carlos Takam in Saudi Arabia, and recently missed out on a fight with Joe Joyce. His record is lacking big names, something he believes is due to the beatings he puts on fighters in the gym being enough to convince them against a pro bout.

Anderson has been consistent in saying he wants to take on all comers. The 24-year-old has stopped fifteen in seventeen wins, but did show some vulnerabilities when he stepped up against former world champion Charles Martin.

Terence Crawford tops the bill in his debut at 154lbs challenging for Israil Madrimov’s WBA title and the vacant WBO. The card also features Isaac Cruz vs Jose Valenzuela for Cruz’s WBA super lightweight title, an intriguing heavyweight bout between Andy Ruiz and Jarrell Miller, David Morrell against Radivoje Kalajdzic and Cuban sensation Andy Cruz vs Antonio Moran.

Anthony Joshua and Martin Bakole are the two highest contenders in the WBA rankings and could be ordered to fight in a final eliminator bout; The British star has agreed his next fight against Francis Ngannou in March

Anthony Joshua could be ordered to face Martin Bakole to earn a shot at the WBA world heavyweight title.

Joshua and Bakole are the two highest contenders in the WBA rankings and the governing body will decide whether the pair meet in a final eliminator bout, with the winner becoming mandatory challenger for the WBA title which is currently held by Oleksandr Usyk.

The immediate plan for Joshua is a fight against Francis Ngannou, the former UFC champion, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on a reported date of Friday March 8.

A few weeks earlier, Usyk will defend his WBA, IBF and WBO world titles against WBC champion Tyson Fury in an undisputed world title fight in Riyadh on February 17.

Boxxer CEO Ben Shalom, who promotes the WBA No 1 ranked Bakole, told Sky Sports: “The WBA may order a final eliminator and we are waiting on direction from them.

“The aim for Martin is to fight early in the year and continue his impressive run. I’m looking forward to seeing him fully fit, when he will look even more devastating.

Boxxer head Ben Shalom, who promotes heavyweight contender Martin Bakole, believes the WBA could order a final eliminator with former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua.

Bakole is the number one rated fighter under the WBA, with Joshua sitting in the number two position. Should the order come down, and Joshua takes a pass, the number three contender is Daniel Dubois.

Joshua is already slated to return to the ring in early March in Saudi Arabia, in a huge crossover fight against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou.

The current WBA champion is Oleksandr Usyk, who faces Tyson Fury on February 17 in a high-stakes undisputed showdown.

“The WBA may order a final eliminator and we are waiting on direction from them,” Shalom told Sky Sports.

“The aim for Martin is to fight early in the year and continue his impressive run. I’m looking forward to seeing him fully fit, when he will look even more devastating. Of course Anthony Joshua is No 2 [in the WBA rankings] and so it would make sense that the fight would be ordered – and Martin would be ready.

Anthony Joshua

“Martin remains the most avoided heavyweight in the world and his recent performances have only added to that. We’re looking forward to a big year for Martin, who will inevitably fight for world titles in the not-so-distant future.”

Bakole is very familiar with Joshua from their sparring wars in the gym. Joshua had often used Bakole as a sparring partner in training camp.

“I learned how to stop him,” Bakole told Sky Sports last year.

“Inside he doesn’t want to be put under pressure. Joshua, I’m going to put him under pressure and he’ll give up. He doesn’t know how to fight on the inside. So give him pressure on the inside until he gives up.”
