Jonathan Owens, who hasn’t had an easy journey in the NFL, has opened up on how he met Simona Biles.

While the Arizona Cardinals signed him after being an undrafted free agent in 2018, he did not play a single snap. Instead, they placed him on injured reserve for the entire year. From there, he became a 17-game starter for the Houston Texans last season.

The Green Bay Packers signed him this year, and he has started eight of 14 games. He wouldn’t have done it without the support of his wife, gymnastics legend Simone Biles. While they have known each other since 2020, Owens recently recalled how they got to know each other.

On The Pivot podcast with Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor and Channing Crowder, Owens said that he first met Biles on a dating app:

Biles is considered the greatest gymnast of all time. She won gold medals in the team, all-around, vault and floor exercise competitions at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. she has one silver and two bronze finishes in the quadrennial sporting event.

The Texas native dominated the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, winning 23 gold medals in six years. She also took home four silvers and three bronze medals.

Jonathan Owens continued his story:

Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles made their relationship Instagram official in August 2020. They got engaged in February 2022 and married in April this year. Biles has also regularly shared updates of their Texas residence under construction.

Simone Biles called her mom in the emotional moments before pulling out of the gymnastics team finals at the Covid-postponed 2020 Tokyo Olympics, a newly-released book reveals.

In 2021, the greatest gymnast of all time came down with a severe case of the ‘twisties’ – a phenomenon that causes gymnasts to feel lost in the air – which forced her to pull out of the team finals.

Biles had claimed she felt like she might die every time she performed a vault with two and a half twists, a new book by Gotham Chopra, ‘Religion of Sports’, which was released on December 5, reveals.

And that fear forced into withdrawing, telling her teammates, ‘I don’t want to do something stupid.’

Biles took herself off to the dressing room where she phoned her mom, Nellie, back home in Houston, who reassured her it was okay to put herself first, Chopra writes.

Simone Biles

‘You can’t do it?’ Nellie reportedly said to Biles from a family watch party in the United States, as the book opens up on the intimate moment between the mother and daughter.

‘That’s okay. That’s okay, honey. They will do their best without you. I don’t want you going out there if you’re not in a good place,’ Nellie continued. ‘You don’t need to go out there and hurt yourself. That’s just not right.’

‘You need to take care of yourself,’ Nellie reportedly added. ‘I love you. Just take some deep breaths and just know we’re praying for you, okay?’

Nellie then turned to the rest of Biles’s family and friends telling them the Olympian had pulled out.

‘That’s it,’ she reported. ‘She’s done. She just pulled out. She says she can’t do it.’

Biles’s decision split the world of sport down the middle with some championing the move to put her mental health first, while others inevitably slammed the gymnast as weak.

But the newly-released book details Biles’s stung reaction to the backlash as she told her family that people failed to understand the process behind her decision.

‘I’m like, “Actually, first, I didn’t lose any medal. If I would’ve continued, I probably would have gotten injured. They wouldn’t have been able to replace [my scores],”‘ Biles told family over FaceTime, according to Chopra.

‘They don’t even know the process of it. They just think I quit. I don’t think they realize that on the vault, I didn’t do what I was supposed to. They didn’t even process it.’

Despite pulling out of multiple events, including the team and all-round finals, Biles returned to win bronze on balance beam just days later while doing a slightly altered routine that removed any twisting elements.

She later hinted the ‘twisties’ and her withdrawal was in part due to the sexual abuse she had suffered at the hands of pedophile doctor Larry Nassar.

Biles is one of more than 150 gymnasts who were abused by Nassar, the former national team doctor, during his 30-year career, and in 2019, she revealed that the trauma of the assaults had left her struggling with suicidal thoughts.

At the time, she admitted that she was ‘sleeping all the time’ because it was ‘the closest thing to death’, while revealing that she was undergoing therapy in order to deal with the abuse.

When she withdrew from the individual Olympics event, she retweeted a statement of support from former gymnast-turned-fitness trainer Andrea Orris, which read:

‘We are talking about the same girl who was molested by her team doctor throughout her entire childhood and teenage years.

‘That girl has endured more trauma by the age of 24 than most people will ever go through in a lifetime.’

Although Biles did not issue her own statement about Nassar or her decision to pull out of the all-around, a US official told DailyMail.com at the time that Orris’ message ‘sums up everything Simone is feeling and wants to say’

Biles made her competitive return to gymnastic earlier this year with the 2024 Paris Olympic games on the horizon.

Returning to the international stage in Belgium in October, she claimed four Gold medals at the World Championships.

She also claimed a silver medal on vault after the sixth all-around title that made her the most decorated gymnast in history, male or female. And she led the US women to a record seventh straight victory in the team event.

Biles has won a record 37 medals at the world championships and Olympics.

Jonathan Owens is Simone Biles’ biggest fan!

The Green Bay Packers safety, 28, is always proud to have the Olympic gold medalist, 26, supporting him at NFL games, and when Biles shared photos of her game-day outfit on Instagram, Owens was quick to hype his wife up in the comments.

Biles shared three photos on the app on Tuesday, writing, “another gameday @ lambeau in the books,” referring to the Packers’ stadium, Lambeau Field in Wisconsin.

In two of the photos, the Olympic gymnast is seen posing in a suite at the stadium.

Biles wore black pants with a blue jacket and matching blue boots.

In a subtle but stylish nod to her husband, she rocked a black sweater with Owens’ no. 34 written in blue to match the rest of her look.

“My baby stay with it on 🔥🔥,” Owens wrote in the comments of her post less than an hour after Biles shared the images.

Biles also shared a photo with her husband from Sunday’s game in her post on Tuesday. Standing next to Biles in her game-day outfit, Owens is all smiles in his own color-coordinated look.

The Packers player paired his dark jeans and beige sneakers with a red and beige sweater for Sunday’s game in Green Bay against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Biles and Owens — who was playing for their hometown Houston Texans when they met — have been navigating their relationship becoming long-distance since the NFL player signed with the Packers in May, just days after their wedding. Lately, though, she’s been able to get to more of his games as her gymnastics season slows down.

The pair have recently been celebrating the holidays, dressing up in matching Halloween costumes and even posing for an adorable fall-inspired photoshoot in early November.

In October, Biles opened up on the Today show about how her perspective on gymnastics has changed since getting married.

“Gymnastics is just something I get to come in and have the privilege of doing. I don’t feel like it’s the end all be all anymore, as before I kind of felt like that,” Biles explained at the time.

“I get to go home to my husband, to my dogs, to my house and all of the things. So it feels really good.”

“It’s been really fun supporting what he loves to do,” she added.

“Obviously, he’s in Green Bay right now so my season just ended. I’m super excited to get out there to Green Bay for the holidays to support him.”

Simone Biles is showing up to support her NFL star husband Jonathan Owens. The seven-time Olympic medalist attended a game at Wisconsin’s Lambeau Field as the Green Bay Packers faced off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Her game day outfit was certainly on point and super fashionable, but it was also cozy and appropriate for the breezy winter weather. The 26-year-old wore a knit black turtleneck (a custom piece from Pressed by Sarita) with the football safety’s number, 34, emblazoned on the front in a nice baby blue color. She paired the top with simple black leggings and ear muffs. Biles completed the look with a blue denim puffer jacket, matching cowboy boots and a dainty designer sparkly black bag.

She posed in a stadium box with the empty field and cloudy skies in the background, and showed off her impeccable fashion sense. The Ohio-born, Texas resident opted for a full glam moment, including a gorgeous glass skin base, feathered brows, chiseled cheekbones, shimmery bronze eyeshadow and a glossy pinky-nude lip.

“another gameday @ lambeau in the books,” the two-time SI Swimsuit model captioned the Instagram post she shared with her 7.1 million followers

“My baby stay with it on 🔥🔥,” Owens, 28, commented.

“WOWZA,” Maggie Nichols added.

“This outfit is incredible ❤️🔥 that bag too 😍👏,” Hannah Ann Sluss complimented.

“giving us the fashion content we neeeed 🙌🏾,” Kayla Simone wrote.

“Becoming goat of gameday fits too👏, one fan chimed.

The newlyweds, who tied the knot twice in this spring, met on dating app Raya in 2020. The Sunday Night Football game ended in a 34-20 loss for the Packers.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have spent 2023 reveling in their marital bliss. From their romantic wedding in April to being each other’s biggest cheerleaders in their respective sports, the two have captured hearts everywhere. Fans are already eagerly anticipating the possibility of these two beautiful souls bringing their babies into the world, blending the best of both worlds.

Months ago, Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens teased fans when they unveiled pictures of the future tiny Owens” babies. And now once again, the Goat of Gymnastics teased fans by speaking of potential twins with her NFL hunk.

Simone Biles hints at twins with Jonathan Owens

In a podcast on YouTube with The Pivot Podcast, Jonathan Owens was the star of the show, along with NFL stars Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor, and Channing Crowder. And alongside supporting her husband was the loving gymnastics queen, Simone Biles. During the chit-chat, Owens discussed football, the Green Bay Packers, the playoff push, and his marriage to Simone Biles. However, a moment stood out when host Channing Crowder told Owens, “I’m going to give you some unc advice on the way out. Y’all talk about cover seven, double moves, and boy, y’all need to make some babies, boy. Y’all need to make about 11 babies.”

Simone Biles

The statement brought about an eruption of laughter, followed by Owens, who said, “I got to let my baby handle herself first,” and to convince them further, Channing Crowder said, “I’ll invest nil future earnings. Whatever y’all need.” Playfully, Simone Biles added, “Twins run in our family, both of ours,” prompting Crowder to suggest, “Make seven twins!” The entire room erupted in laughter. This playful banter from the gymnastics queen and Owens got fans excited just when the two released pictures of their future babies.

When the world got a glimpse of their future babies

Back in July, Simone Biles took to Instagram and teased fans with an ultimate baby fever surprise. Posting two AI-generated images of her future babies, Biles shared images of a girl and a boy with significant features of both Jonathan Owens and herself. For the boy who had a striking resemblance to Jonathan Owens, with his beautiful brown eyes and dimples, she wrote, “Stop! Why does this baby look exactly like Jonathan?”

While the girl who also featured Owens’ eyes and Simone Biles’ smile and facial features wrote, “The girl version—already in a onesie ready for practice,” Owens, excited for another gymnast in his life, wrote, “Awww man, another gymnast”.

While the couple has not explicitly shared their plans for children, Owens assured The Pivot Podcast that the couple was “just going to enjoy the process, man.”

Having a partner who understands you in every phase is ideal. The Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens finds himself lucky, too. Besides cheering for Owens from the sidelines, his wife and global star Simone Biles cares for his mental health too, which the 28-year-old recently admitted.

The Olympic gymnast and the NFL athlete married for the second time in a big destination wedding in May. Since then, the two have been supporting each other, respecting their individual careers, and are also in the process of moving to their custom-built dream house. All of this sounds like a fairy-tale and stress-free romance. However, it isn’t entirely true. As athletes, they also have to suffer from multiple sources of stress, just like Owens recently revealed, detailing how his life had changed after meeting his wife.

Simone Biles is Jonathan Owens’s support system!

In a recent episode of The Pivot Podcast, Jonathan Owens was invited to talk about his “NFL’s draft, playoff push, wife Simone Biles, and mental health.” Owens recalled how Biles helped him deal with the constant spotlight and public scrutiny. Owens was asked about Biles and how, being a significant advocate in the mental health space, she supported him through the challenges of being a pro-NFL player with many ups and downs.

Owens responded with an example: “We had a conversation before the first game,” wherein Biles noticed he was “overthinking and slowing down.” Biles pointed out he seemed slower and more cautious on the field. At first, he didn’t believe her, but then he admitted that she was right. Owens said that he tends to analyze things a lot, affecting his performance and making him hesitant during games. The Olympic star helped him realize he was experiencing “paralysis by analysis,” where he was so focused on everything that he froze.

Simone Biles

This made him work on himself and seek guidance to overcome this mental block. The safety informed that he sought advice and regularly spoke to a sports psychologist to improve his mental state. His wife supported him throughout this process and admired his growth, especially during a game against the Rams, where he felt faster and more confident in his decisions.

Simone Biles’ advocacy for mental health and her supportive role played a crucial part in her husband’s journey to conquer his fears. Likewise, the gymnast herself faced mental health challenges, leading her to withdraw from competitions to prioritize her well-being and avoid potential physical risks.

A step back to move forward!

At just 26 years old, Simone Biles has been conquering the gymnastics world and the Olympics with seven medals. However, being a sports star and human, she also has her fair share of struggles in her life. This challenging phase reached its peak in 2021 when suddenly Biles started “struggling with a dangerous condition where gymnasts lose their sense of spatial awareness,” popularly known as “Twisties.” This condition posed a considerable amount of risk to her physical safety.

Precision and control are crucial in gymnastics, and being mentally and physically aware is essential. Biles realized that although she was physically fine, her mental state wasn’t, posing risks to her overall health. She clarified that she didn’t quit but highlighted the disconnection between her body and mind. Later, after returning even stronger, Biles informed her fans that therapy played a vital role in rediscovering her love for gymnastics, helping her become more comfortable and less anxious.

Simone Biles’ openness about her mental health challenges has contributed to changing perceptions in sports, inspiring many, including her husband.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have attained considerable heights in each of their fields. Owing to the titles of Packers safety and most decorated gymnast ever, the duo doesn’t fail to turn heads. However, apart from athletic backgrounds in commonality, the two also share a journey of adversities on their paths to success. But for the power couple, the unconventional paths held a pivotal point for their later lives.

Biles has previously revealed if it weren’t for foster care and her grandparents adopting her, she wouldn’t be the Simone Biles the world knows today. The nature further extends to the NFL star who recently stepped ahead to reveal the unfortunate acts that turned out to be transformative moments.

Jonathan Owens reflects on a pivotal point

On the 19th, Owens made an appearance on The Pivotal Podcast to discuss his life and journey from undrafted free agent to Packers Safety. And talking of the ascended status, the 28-year-old revealed the moment that acted as a spark for the journey ahead. Owens was asked, what he thought was his biggest pivot. The NFL star mentioning two instances, credited the first to his senior year in college. “We had two weeks until the season starts, and my coach, they walk me up to the office,” he starts. The act was initially received with confusion by Owens until they revealed that his “stepdad got shot and killed in armed robbery.”

Simone Biles

Owen’s stepdad had been with him since he was 4 and had raised him throughout. Learning about his death and the fact that his mom, who is disabled was left all alone at home, triggered a force in Owens. “I was like, I gotta do something to make my family situation better,” recalls the NFL star. “I had good seasons in college but that was the moment I had a different type of driving force.”

While Owens cried, fought, and stood tall through the adversities, in Texas, Simone Biles was emerging successful through hers.

Simone Biles found her light

As a 3-year-old, Simone Biles and her siblings were put in foster care following the chemical abuse their mother faced. The siblings hopped houses for 3 years until the Olympian and her sister were adopted by their grandparents. The years had entailed constant hunger and fear for the little ones. But Simone believes that despite all, the path eventually led her in the right direction.

“I feel like I wouldn’t be where I am unless that turning point happened. I would still be Simone Biles, probably not Simone Biles that everybody else knows,” Biles says. Ronald and Nellie her grandparents immediately recognized Simone’s talent for gymnastics and ensured to provide everything necessary to nurture. And today she stands on heights unreachable.

Simone Biles has once again ascended the gymnastic throne after a brief respite from her queenly duties. Her renewed coronation is scheduled for 2024 when she will firmly repose her status as the de facto queen regnant. However, the fanfare from her impending grand ascension cannot eclipse the gloomy past in the gymnast’s life. But, in typical fairy tale fashion, her knight in shining armor was there to rescue her from the malevolent demons.

Simone Biles suffered the career-ending “Twisties” at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. She put on a brave face as she announced her withdrawal from the competition and hid the emotional turbulence brewing within her heart. Now, her husband and constant partner in agony and joy, Jonathan Owens, broke his silence to reveal the tough times in the athlete’s life.

Jonathan Owens reveals Simone Biles’ troubles post-Olympics tragedy

Simone Biles was taken aback when the “Twisties” suddenly took over her cognitive acuity. However, a grave tragedy was averted when she landed on her feet despite losing all sense of physical orientation in mid-air. This was possible because of her years of rigorous training that has developed muscle memory. However, she could not rely on her body to act on its own accord during all of her subsequent routines. Therefore, she decided to go on a long hiatus and only made a comeback in 2023. However, the time in between was particularly harsh for the seven-time Olympic medalist, as retold by Jonathan Owens. During his appearance on ‘The Pivot Podcast,’ the NFL legend said, “being around her and just seeing like, we might be in the bed and she might just start crying”.

The trauma of unfulfilled ambitions was too much for Simone Biles to bear. Jonathan Owens suggested she take a few years off in order to decompress and focus on her mental well-being. Cut to 2023, and Simone Biles is again at the top of her game, but the fears of the past are far from allayed.

Simone Biles’ lingering fears

The fearful echoes of the previous Olympic Games continue to haunt Simone Biles in the present. As the newest iteration of the Games draws closer, she could not help but delve into a bit of retrospection. Biles said, “Although I freak out a little at the beginning of every Olympic cycle, I’ll have to remind myself that I’m fine when the clock hits 2024”.

This statement of confidence stemmed not just from the achievements she has already attained, but also from Jonathan Owens. As a form of tribute to him for his incredible support, she will be championing mental health as she guns for the all-around title in Paris next year.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens hold their own as a contemporary sports super couple, but the tale of how they became a thing plays out in movie-plot proportions. They announced their engagement on Valentine’s Day this year. Interest surrounds their recent marriage and how they found each other. However, the question lingers: was their journey as smooth on the surface?

Recently, Jonathan Owens opened up about the fear and uncertainty he experienced when it came to being with an extraordinary woman like Simone Biles. Owens’ confession was heartfelt and candid. He openly revealed his doubts and even fears about entering a significant relationship with the gymnastics icon. What was the underlying reason for his cold feet, though?

Unexpected turns in Biles and Owens’ relationship sojourn

The Pivot Podcast, featuring former NFL players Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor as hosts, regularly has a tête-à-tête about sports, culture and the lives of their guests. The laid-back and easy atmosphere produces revealing interviews with many personalities. Recently, though, a feature of power couple Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens took an unforeseen turn. There was also a question posed to Jonathan about how he felt at the time of dating Simone, with an aside suggesting reluctance. This brought Jonathan to an open moment during which he showed some hesitation, and they laughed as they discussed whether that meant perhaps he didn’t want a relationship with Simone.

Simone Biles

Reflecting on his past, he remembered feeling a sense of reluctance towards commitment. “ I was afraid to commit. It was my third year, and I hesitated, thinking it might be too early,” he mused. However, they clicked soon enough. Their first date was filled with an immediate connection, laughter echoing through the night. He recalled when he asked Simone, Who are your competitors? puzzled by her response when she confidently stated, Myself.” Intrigued, he sought clarification, only to realize that her greatest challenges revolved around personal achievements. He spoke about when he knew she was the one.

A meet cute to be cherished

Jonathan vividly recalled a sweet memory as to when his love for his lady proliferated. As they headed to the event, they impulsively stopped at a top-rated cookie spot to indulge in milk and cookies. Amidst a crowd of mothers and their children, a remarkable pause ensued when they walked by. The kids, visibly excited, requested a photo, leaving Jonathan astonished. Witnessing the unexpected admiration for her amidst the crowd solidified his love. It was at that moment, surrounded by the allure of delectable cookies, that Jonathan realized her undeniable magnetism.

He realized she possessed a unique skill of navigating situations, which he likened to ‘ she is actually the best in the world at flipping the script. Reflecting on their journey, he acknowledged her courage in taking chances, emphasizing that Simone Biles’ success stemmed from her daring approach.

Simone Biles is not afraid of sharing her struggles from on and off the gym floor. Some of the not-so-graceful moments have been shared to Instagram, including some hilarious fails and falls, but it hasn’t always been good times for the American gymnast.

Simone Biles

Biles, 26, constantly shares Instagram Stories to reveal a side of her that fans rarely see. The four-time Olympic gold medalist and 14-time World Champion clearly understands that practice makes progress.

She recently married Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens and is often seen kissing him on the sideline prior to his games.

The power couple recently made headlines for coming out on top against Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his girlfriend Taylor Swift.

Simone Biles on growing up in foster care

Biles also recently opened up about the horrors of growing up in foster care with parents who did not care for her.

“I actually was a foster kid so I know some of the hardships that those kids go through,” said Biles. “When my siblings and I entered foster care, it was because our biological mom was stuggling with drug and alcohol abuse.

“I was three years old. I just remember us, as kids, being so hungry and I remember this cat that would get fed and not us. Thankfully, we actually got to stay in one foster home and we were all together.”
